Do NOT buy from this builder! No integrity, responsibility and little professionalism depending on whom you deal with. Consider yourself warned by someone that has gone through the complete Monticello experience from beginning to end. I could write a book on the unbelievable experiences we went through from sales to building to warranty work. You can tell the bad ethics start from the top and trickle down. It’s pretty obvious there is a problem with this company based on the multiple bad reviews across different platforms. Please be careful… this is a terrible company!

Strongly advise NOT to close on any Monticello Home with an appliance or device needing repairs. We purchased an almost $700k home in April 2023 with a known problem with the double-oven unit (error F8E0) and according to the documents signed, they’d would attempt to repair it before it gets replaced with a new unit. Three and a half months since the closing and after more than three field-tech visits to repair it, I have the most expensive Kitchen-Aid clock in the entire house (that’s the only functional feature in the oven) unable to do any baking. I’m told I need to put up with another inconvenience to host a technician making all my previous calls to report the problem and accommodate the technicians (BTW, they sent different techs to validate the disfunction state) and is entirely unacceptable. If the home has problem prior to closing, reconsider moving forward.UPDATE: Two days after I posted this review, I got a call from the Monticello Homes VP and a few days later they got us taken care of with a new unit. Although we appreciate the exchange, the less than pleasant review could have been avoided if they’d had done it from the get go.

The team at Monticello gave me extraordinary customer service!!! Their attention to detail and craftsmanship is top notch and I would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase or build a custom home! Larry Allen was with me every step of the way as I went through the process of 1st purchasing the home from out of state sight -unseen , then helping me as my home sale was delayed in California. Monticello went above and beyond to assure my transition was seamless and even held the home for me while they were delays on my selling side. I absolutely love my home and will forever be grateful for all that Larry and Monticello did.

Built a home from the ground up with Montecello. This was our first new home and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Project manager Kenny is as good as it gets. Anything we asked for got a quick response and I never had to follow up. He is a rare find in this business. He genuinely cared about giving us exactly what we wanted. 2800sq/ft build took about 10 months as expected. We received an update every week. We had three builders to choose from in this community we had the best sales experience with Tracy. We are so happy we went with Monticello

First off, our experience with our sales rep and overall building process was positive. But even though they build beautiful homes, their integrity as a company is questionable. Case in point: We built a home not too long ago on a premium lot in Kinder Ranch, only to find out three months later that the green open space (greenbelt) directly in front of our home was now going to have a home built on the lot. To no fault of our sales rep (who didnt know at the time), we were told during the sales process (before and after) this green space was going to be a park, and nothing else. This was one of the main reasons why we decided to take this particular premium lot. Whats even more troubling, is that we didnt even get an explanation or apology from the company, let alone being properly compensated for paying thousands of dollars more for a premium lot. We now know it was the developer who made the decision, but that doesnt relinquish the builder from taking responsibility and properly informing the home owner, and compensating them appropriately. Beautiful home or not, I would never do business with this company again, or recommend them. Keeping your word in business, especially when it comes to building ones dream home, should never be broken. Bottom line: When you dont keep your word, you lose credibility. Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed with this decision because we expected a lot more from this company.

I’ve had the pleasure of living in the Champion Ridge subdivision in San Antonio for 9 years with a beautiful location and great neighbors, but with the unpleasant experience of living in a Monticello built home. After two years, I still have difficulty with getting good homeowner insurance rates due to a $40k+ claim in 2017 because of a plumbing failure installed during the original construction. The Certified Plumber that replaced the fitting said it was defective and should have never been used; it would not pass inspection today. Along with the complete house flooding, I’ve had two roof failures, cracked ceiling and a nail driven into the water line that finally rusted out and failed in the wall. This is a house built in 2006 by Monticello Homes that was a total disaster, and with no account or support from the builder even after filing complaints with the BBB.Beware if you live in a Monticello Home with electrical outlets in the floor and 3/4 inch water running over the tile while the house is flooded.

My husband and I just purchased our home from Monticello and I have to say that this is the worst experience we’ve had purchasing our fourth property. The landscaping was unfinished which I was told it was due to them saving money so I insisted they removed the rocks because it looked unfinished and unattractive so he said he could finish the rest because we have been through a lot which I appreciate, but I’ve never seen a house with unfinished landscaping before especially a new home. The second thing about this house is we couldn’t charge our phones or anything electrical because there was a lose wire. The stove was not installed so we could not cook for a week. When we did the walk through their were so many dents, holes, scratches, cracks on the ceiling and only some were corrected I had to tell them specifically again if they were going to be fixed and some of the scratches for example the garage door pushed our moving date back which we had already had our old house rented for the moving date. (I still have visible cracks on the ceiling.)The day we moved in I had cigarette buds and soda cans on the front yard of the house and white paint all over the inside pantry and entry door. There were white cans of paint dripping inside the pantry. My sister in law and brother in law purchased a home 5 minutes away from us the same time we purchased our home by emerald homes the community is called FallBrook and their welcome to their new home was amazing they had a huge “Welcome to Your New Home” sign and a $40 dollar Lowe’s card with a goody basket. I wish I would’ve had a better experience.

Monticello is building a new home 1 house up the block from our home. Their construction site is littered with garbage- bottles- fast food bags- fast food trays - empty ice bags- beer cans and other various pieces of trash. The trash blows everywhere! We tried speaking with the model home people in kinder ranch west only to be told their site manager was too busy. Messy construction site makes me wonder what is going on with the build.

Be aware. Check with existing home owners before buying with Monticello. Slow construction, not meeting the closing date, lot of issues with the house etc.
