I lived here for about 4 years and had a wonderful experience. The staff is amazing. They truly value their residents. The maintenance is incredible. All maintenance requests were fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner. The rent is affordable and you get the most for your money.

You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to the apartments, but they are really cheap for the area and nice enough. I felt safe when I was at home, which made all the difference. The management is really so nice and friendly and maintenance fixed any problems we had day of- including a broken AC on the weekend. Super close to Fort Sam!

They were great; cheap, good neighbors, small military discount and they repaired things when you asked. There were pet fees. The office people were available at the times they said they were available. I had a bad leak in my roof once and they had it fixed by the end of the day (it was a big leak and I never had another problem with it). I had issues with my washer and they replaced it in a week. I lived here for 18 months and I recommend it to everyone I meet who is looking for apartments. They have 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. They are stacked and 3 floors high and you share a balcony entrance with 3 other neighbors. You get a patio. They have a dog park with toiletry nags and a free bug spraying when you have issues. One of the best apartment complexes Ive ever heard of. Close to Fort Sam- 15 minutes to BAMC.

I lived at Avalon for 3.5 years and loved it every single day. The staff were always easy to work with and took care of every maintenance need immediately. During my time there, they upgraded my HVAC unit to an energy efficient model that saved me a ton in electricity bills. They keep the place updated and clean. The maintenance staff is friendly and quick to respond. My neighbors were friendly and I felt safe. We received notices on our door well in advance of any planned maintenance or needs to access my apartment. There are community contests for holiday decorations also. I lived right above the pool and tolerated a lot of loud neighbors, but when it became excessive, they took care of it by posting security for a few days. The community is gated, but not without security issues. My car was broken into once and when I reported it, they posted notices on everyone’s doors to watch out for each other and we didn’t have any more issues that I know of. I’m going to miss Avalon!

The apartment complex is well maintained and a staff who treats the tenant more like family than a renter. Repairs were always completed in a timely manner and the cost is very reasonable. I reside at the apartment twice for two years each time. Douglas

Was stationed in the Army at Fort Sam Houston when I stayed with this apartment. Very small, peaceful, quiet community. Maintenance is always on the job, very responsive and the leasing staff is very helpful. Never had a complaint during my year of living here under the current management. Only flaw I would say is that the apartments are older but they are seasoned and well kept.

This place is awesome! We have been living here almost 6 months. I was going to wait to review but we have been through a good amount of issues and I don’t think my opinion will change.First off, coming in there’s a long driveway and a ton of trees. It feels secluded and quiet even though it’s close to everything. The property is beautiful. The apartments are small and slowly being updated, but they are extremely clean. The best part of living here is the management. They have been the best we’ve ever had living in lots of different places. They have handled the COVID challenges with grace and compassion. Work orders are dealt with promptly. We get updates on things but never feel micromanaged. My family loves the pool area and we go several times per week. The maintenance staff are amazingly kind and competent. The ladies up front are genuine and the diverse staff as well as residents make the place feel very inclusive.Could not have asked for a better place to live. We are so comfortable here. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed here for 6 months from 2017-2018 and had a great experience. Melonye and the staff were always friendly and attentive to our concerns. The apartments are near to everything and are fairly quiet (with exception to some sirens coming down the street). My unit was clean、 cozy、and taken care of well so I cant relate to some of the other poor experiences that few others posted. If my job ever requires me to relocate to San Antonio again、 Id most likely live at Avalon again.

My husband and I have lived here for almost a year now. We chose to live here for how close it is to base. The property is well maintained, maintenance is on top of their repairs, and the ladies that work the office are always pleasant. The only complaints I would have are the apartments are a little cramped (square feet wise) and the gym could most definitely use some sprucing up with the equipment. Other then that, trash is always picked up and the pool is always kept clean. I definitely recommend it

Very friendly and helpful office staff. Grounds were very well kept! Loved my unit. I moved in after a long time tenant left. It was updated accordingly and anything I questioned was taken care of almost immediately.I would highly recommend living there to anyone. Let Irene, Linda, Melanie or the rest of the office staff give you the keys to your new home! Good luck!

If you want to live at a place where homeless are always prowling, wondering around the property and have your valuables stolen from your vehicle and or your balcony this is the place to live. Management is poor, they lack of professionalism and communication. They don’t care at all for tenants. To bad I can not give 0 stars.

Ive been very happy with Avalon Apartments. They worked with us on getting an apartment when we were in a tough spot. Work orders were done with little hassle, grounds keepers, office staff and neighbors all very friendly. I felt very safe being there at all times of the day or night.

Extremely flexible. I was able to complete the application and move in process even though everyone who was listed as a tenant on the lease was not in the country at the time. Once they arrived, they were more than happy to clear them and run their background and credit checks.Good luck finding a place as nice as this without paying a few hundred extra dollars a month in rent. It has its downsides but overall I would move back in there if it came down to it. Good value.

I lived at Avalon for 2 years and it was a very positive experience.The staff was always pleasant and receptive. Melonye made my on-boarding and move out an easy procedure. All my maintenance needs were met in a timely manner and any other concern I had was addressed similarly.I highly recommend this location

Have lived here for 4 years now, and have never had any problems what so ever. Office staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Maintenance is always prompt and friendly. Parking is never a problem and apartments are always quiet. Love it here!

DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU ARE MILITARY!! They were great at making sure they get their money on time and selling you that military welcome pitch, but the price is NOT worth the size. I then had orders to go from Fort Sam to Fort Hood and I told them 2-3 weeks in advance but they werent having it, they wanted partial rent still even though I was fully moved out along with us paying rent at our new place. I then had to extend my orders to Fort Sam because of this issue and ended up moving into a better place, Algarita Lakeside. Once I told them about this, the head manager I believe whos name is Linda said, Oh yeah? Then why did I get a rental history request from 8555 Laurens Lane? Yeah, I use to work there. Having military bearings I just walked out and dealt with it with my command. Management at The Avalon is VERY LAZY and always says theres nothing we can do when there is an issue other than rent. I dont recommend ANYONE MILITARY moving here. Also there is MOLD EVERYWHERE and they cover it up instead of getting rid of it. I pay THE SAME PRICE for a 1 bedroom in Algarita Lakeside with more square footage (200 more). And they are very friendly and give generous amounts of discounts. The owner of Lakeside is always out there and actually has a good relationship with the residence. Had I known about them before Avalon I would have not moved here. ONCE AGAIN MILITARY DO NOT MOVE HERE!

**REAL MILITARY** I dont know where that other person claiming to be military actually came from, but these apartments are terrible!! There are a number of things extraordinarily wrong with these apartments!! When they built these apartments they obviously went cheap cheap cheap. Obviously you would expect that out of newer apartments but this has got to be a joke. Who did they pay off to be able to rent these apartments out!? The staff tries to cover up all mistakes before new tenants come in, which is a deceitful business tactic, but it works. The maintenance staff doesnt actually know what they are doing, they are just tenants who didnt want to pay rent. mold mold mold everywhere, Ive never been so sick in my entire life! I lived here for year and a half and my god its nasty. Sure youre saving money but you get what you pay for. If you look just five minutes away you can get much bigger apartments for only fifty bucks more. I really wish that I had the time to look for apartments when I first got here but my orders required me to find a place quick. its not close to anything remotely good expect maybe the base which honestly it isnt worth it. the gate is ridiculously busy everyday and its hard to get out onto the road that leads to the base. You can hear if someone drops something across the hall. If some is playing music with loud base below and across from the apartment it vibrates the walls and floors.there is NO insulation on the wall facing the outside you can hear even the quietest of conversations, not to mention its miserable in the winter. They decided that a smart thing to do is put the laundry outside... outside really? if i wanted to let everyone see my knickers i would do laundry at a laundry mat.They obviously didnt think that the ac unit would condense the air and cause run off until after they finished building, so their genius solution? just put a drain off pipe in the bathroom and let it drip into the tub... cause i obviously want want my small child to bathe in rusty water! There is NO storage for food so if you dont plan to eat out every meal youll have to use the counter space for storage. A warning, clean out the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher BEFORE you use it. the cleaning crew doesnt know that they need to clean it. There is at least five years build up on it!! The online maintence requests never get read, so you have to call to get anything done. the place is overrun with yellow jacket hornets! it doesnt matter how often you report it or if you find the nest nothing gets done. my husband got stung in the face by one so myself our small children had to run around the whole building to avoid getting stung.All I can say is renters BEWARE!!

Unfortunately I HAVE to leave one star because I really wish to leave 0 stars.My wife and I went in to apply for an Apartment. And we told the manager that I had some things on my credit that would come back as negative and Ms. Irene told us it was NO PROBLEM. Finally she took our licence to write our information down. She saw my wifes last name which was a Hispanic last name and LAUGHED under her breath, and we asked her what was funny and I said because she looks white? She said yes.Then we told her we were married and she couldnt believe that two women were married and even questioned us... Asked to even see our marriage license. How insulting. But with that said and done she made us feel comfortable with her and pretended to like us. So we wrote our check for 45.00 dollars so she could run our credit. And only got a copy of our license. NO pay stubs. NO proof of SOCIAL Security. We waited two days and no call back. Finally we called and she told us we had to bring a money order in for 45.00 instead of a check and asked us if we were actually serious about renting there as if writing them a check was a joke. So we brought in a money order. We asked her how long in would take. And she said only 30 MINUTES to run a credit check for the both of us. So we receive a call in 30 minutes. My wife answers the phone and Ms. Irene tells her that I was not approved but that she was and she could move in without me, but if we catch your friend living there we will evict you. All along she was very prejudice and discriminatory.I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I have never been so insulted since Ive lived in San Antonio. Also, thinking of reporting her for asking us if we were really married then asking to see our marriage licence, which is clearly against the law. Or maybe it isnt because we are two women. But all this is my own opinion. Im glad we didnt get approved because it would have been our mistake to down play how uncomfortable she made us feel all because we liked the apartment itself.

Besides my apartment being haunted and the fire alarm going off every time I turned the heat on, OH and the terrible management, its habitable. For soldiers with families LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE. Just because its cheap doesnt make it worth it at all. Theres feral cats that will urinate and deficate on your vehicle. Youll have people in the office attempt to sell you on the $100 deposit and cheap rent, but the place is a dump and youll be just a number. After living there for 5 months I walked into the office to get mail and they asked me if I lived there. THESE ARENT THE APARTMENTS YOURE LOOKING FOR.

Avalon is a great place to live its a quiet community.Grocery store is around the corner (HEB).And Walmart and Target down the road.(Austin Hwy)The apartment comes with assigned coved parking and full sizewasher and dryer. There is a nice Fitness Center, Play Ground, Dog Park and Swimming Pool. Its a gated community and has security camerasthrough out the property.

One of our best experiences living in an apartment complex. The administration is very friendly and helpful.

This place is an amazing place for students to live. Staff is super friendly and it’s convenient to campus.

Very unprofessional I am a disabled vet and they gave me the run around. I was told there was an apartment coming open I wanted and they went back and changed their story. I could never get a call back I can only imagine living there. I dodged a bullet again.

Hear police car siren, ambulance siren all the time. The staffs were friendly before you move in, but after that, they only made sure they had your money.

Mess management. Post wrong payments. Splintering building makes huge squeaky noises.

Management sucks cats every where needs a major up grade

The management will accept signed documents without a notary. My son got and apartment through them and forged my name. They accepted it without my presence...not a good business practice at all!

A quiet place. With swimming pool (pool). Close to shops. Supermarket. Service station. And Boulevard to eat. Also close to the route. Good neighborhood and good atmosphere. Very safe.
