This establishment is extremely disorganized and dirty. Its difficult to discern whether youre in a kitchen, a storage area, or an actual store.During our visit, we were followed closely by elderly staff members throughout the store. When I asked if they were closing, given how close they hovered, they confirmed they were. However, upon leaving I noticed their posted hours indicated they were going to open for another hour.My husband was next door at a bookstore and went to the antique store to look for us (we had already left). The staff opened the door for him, greeted him warmly, and asked if he was searching for something specific. I hope their welcoming attitude was not influenced by his being Caucasian. While my family and I appreciate antiques, we certainly dont appreciate outdated customer service.
Absolutely lovely experience visiting this store. Beautiful collection of unique pieces. The staff were kind and attentive. If you love antiques definitely give this place a visit. I had a blast looking through every nook and cranny.
Horrible experience. Follow up is terrible, inaccurate estimates of when items sold and no clear information on how appraisals were done. I’ve had to chase down the owner to get updates and personally went to store to inquire on payments promised to me months ago but never received .
I visited this store today and had a fantastic experience. As with any antique store, one must take some time looking around and youll most likely find jems. Its difficult for me to understand where or why any poor review could be left. They could come from people who do not have a realistic expectation of either how the process of an estate liquidation flows, or, and probably very likely they have an inflated estimation of the values of material objects which they have an understandable yet purely emotional attachment to.I found Tomme to be a fun conversationalist and very pleasant.I was on the hunt for some unique San Antonio wall art, and while finding nothing that suited my tastes, she has a display case with a number of NOS machinists tools that I could not pass up buying and having shipped back to Kentucky.Ill be back for a visit every time Im back in SA!
Worst experience ever!I wish I could figure out how to give ZERO stars.Opened doors late, older lady that presented that she was in charge ( shop owner) was rude, yelled at people, tried to become victim when she was at fault for not pricing items. She was overwhelmed because there were may people who wanted to know prices and she couldnt handle it. Prices were 10 to 14 to 100 dollars or 2 to 4 to 20 dollars (and she was referring to the same item!) she just didnt know. Then, after yelling at her customers (for no reason), said, I dont need your business, so ALL.... she doesnt need our business..... (her own words). No customers need to be verbally abused by her. In a controlled voice i told her that and she told me to leave and as I quietly walked out the door. She slammed the door behind me almost hitting my foot/leg. She did all of this on the span of about ONE minute. She was very dramatic and attention/playing the victim seeking. She kept raising her voice and I think she was trying to trigger me to say something to justify why SHE was so aggressive. After reading her shops reviews this seems to be the norm. This was the older lady with the short, puffy, very dark dyed hair. The workers that were there were great, she alone made it horrible. Will NOT shop Avalon Estates again and will let people know about my experience.#speakout
They say come in and look around but then follow you 10 steps behind everywhere you go... I can understand most places like this being concerned about shop lifting but why follow so close that I cant get around because your standing in front of the aisle ways? Also this BIG SALE they show they are having is a joke. They mark everything up before hand (they admit they didnt have time to price everything before hand which means they usually verbally price items not have them priced with any regular price tags to go off of for a sale) and then put up gimmicky percentage off signs to make it look like things are on sale. Lots of pretty items I will admit but nothing at a reasonable price which is why they must try gimmicks to get any business...
The items are not priced correctly for the quality. Lame. On 11/07/17 I’ve changed my review. I may have caught them on a bad day. I’ve gone in several times since and have had a great experience. The sales are really good. Just know your stuff before you go in. 🤓
These folks are swindlers and fleece artists. I should have read the Better Business Bureau website for them before we went with them. Felt taken advantage in a time of family need. Home from military deployment to care for my our mothers medical diagnosis and move her with the family. Same thing as others on online have mentioned: no proper inventory, little to no contact or returned phone calls or emails, no documentation of what was sold and for how much, etc. You are nuts to trust them with your belongings. I would have given 0 stars if I could have. Just my 2 cents.
I was looking for a last-minute gift for my mother and they helped me find the perfect piece of silver. Staff helpful without being pushy and I got 10% off!
Why this “company” has an “F” BBB rating:Owners that:1) Refuse to provide a copy of your contract upon request.2) Do not return calls for months and do not “do e-mail” (sic).3) Will not provide you with a COMPLETE estate inventory.4) Will take your estate, mislabel the items and sell them in someone else’s name; or keep them (I cannot be certain).5) Will not provide prompt payment as stipulated in the contract.6) Will deny access to their “warehouse” in order for you to retrieve your “lost” items.7) Will oddly refuse mediation with the BBB.8) Will be inappropriately rude and defensive with their customers.9) Manage a store that can only be described as a hoarder’s delight.Use their services at your own risk.
Owner is rather haughty and often doesnt return phone calls. She is most interested in organizing estate sales and catering to her top clientele. Sale prices are excessive.
Price gouging is crazy at there estate sales.
I appreciate the wonderful experience we had on Saturday with Tommi and Kathy. These two women are very knowledgeable.
Im glad I visited, Very professional and unbiased. I recommend you visit AVALON ESTATE SERVICES. Its more like a museum. prices are fair, staff are real good people. again, Im glad I went & Ill go again.Albert
Great experience! I picked up some awesome vintage camera equipment here. Really nice people, great taste!
Its a fun place to visit and shop. The owner and staff are always professional.
Had bad experience several yrs ago where my item was lost or kept. Didnt received payment as per contract and had hard time getting response from owner.
Excellent well preserved antiques and the prices are extremely outstanding i will defenetly advice anyone looking for an heirloom to pass on
These people are so rude. Don’t waste your time stepping into this store.
The staff seems overwhelmed and overworked. One question seemed to send a worker over the edge.
Says they close at 5, but they were closed by 3:30 on a Saturday.
Quality items and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Not the generic San Antonio antique shop.
They price everything so high ! It is NOT worth it!
Wow no good!!! Horrible
Very Friendly staff
