If you want professionalism, look elsewhere. We love the layout of our home but I wish we would have backed out with how we were treated. We were told we would be able to move in by a certain date. When we came to inspect, they were no where near done and our kids needed to start school soon. We spent 4 hours going through the home creating a punch list and blue taping items that our inspector had missed. The crew took down ALL the tape and told us that it wasn’t them (what??). We came back, spent 6 HOURS creating a punch list with pictures because they wouldn’t allow us to put tape on OUR walls. On that list was still the things the inspector had given them weeks prior. We were also reprimanded by the lead contractor for getting on the roof due to “legal concerns” but had we not, there would be shingles missing, nails not caulked and multiple other mishaps. After the final walk through, we were “satisfied” with the work (which is shoddy and needs a lot of touching up) but to our surprise we found this in the drawer when we moved in… that’s right our punch list RIPPED UP. Seems petty doesn’t it?Allen, your team needs some shaping up if you think this is acceptable as the lead contractor. If you want your house done CORRECTLY and to the show-home standards you better fine tooth comb your home and not expect professional decorum afterwards. We’ve only been in our home for about 6 months so I hope it was well constructed but it sounds like if we need anything warrantied we’ll have more of this type of “professionalism”.
Bought my home 3 years ago and I wish I had looked elsewhere. DR Horton dazzled me with incentives but maybe it was to distract me from the mess that I would inherit from them. Construction crews cut corners and I found this out many years after closing even WITH an inspection before that. I wish I hired someone to inspect during each phase of the build. I recommend you do the same.
Please pay your your past due water balance at Steele creek Cibolo so that new home owners can have their gas / heat working ! People can’t shower in cold water for days straight or their small children because the gas company said DR Horton owed a hefty, past due balance.
Since Closing on my home in the Cobalt Canyon subdivision, I have lost both trust and confidence in D.R. Hortons ability to hold their trade services accountable. First, I had a broken water heater that was told was perfectly fine but turned out to be broken. We were without heat and hot water for 2 weeks. Secondly, I have spoken with the Construction Manager three times (one indirectly) about leftover closing items/issues that needed to be addressed. The last time I spoke with the Construction Manager, I was told they would come over that day and fix some items on my list and they never showed up. I have heard nothing back from him. When someone did finally come to fix an item on the list, it was unannounced and could not communicate with the painters without translation. Another company used by D.R. Horton called and booked appointments with me three times but only showed up to the last appointment. the first two times, were complete no shows without any explanation, etc. My Sales Specialist Suzanna Arters has been amazing.
Thank you, DRHorton for including a fridge in the deal at our request! We moved in under a year ago and the ice maker is leaking into the freezer when it fills causing ice to form all over the food in there. Therefore the ice isnt producing much. The topper is the awful loud motor roar happening every hour for several minutes... enough to hear in my bedroom and keep us awake. Yea, we called whirlpool as you advised, several times. This time we are 3 weeks in to waiting on parts. I should have never moved. Wait theres more... see separate review if itll let me do another...I added a picture of our cracked tile with a description of the issue. Basically we are doomed with foundation repair, but it wont happen until the foundation has shifted up to a certain measurement. The crack goes through the brick, walls and tile and its been less than a year. We will be dealing with this for a while.12/30/22 Update- they replaced the cracked tile. Hopefully it wont crack again, but Id be surprised. We are still waiting for replacement parts for the freezer, so we still have no ice maker. 😕 DR Horton washes their hands of that, its Whirlpool we are waiting on.
We purchased a home with DR Horton on April of 2021. We closed on our home after the walk through despite of us not being so happy with how it looked. The lender indicated that if we did not close on the home that day, they could not guarentee our 2.5 intrest rate if we waited for all the adjustments to be completed on the home. So we conducted the walk through with the builder, they promised to fix the issues like the sloppy painted floor panels, our island was missing a peice, they installed a cracked cabinet and attempted to hide the crack with filler, although it was still noticeable. They installed crown molding to hide the sloppy mess of the paint but did not ccaulk the crown molding correctly. We have had so many broken promises with this builder. We had been communicating with Gilbert Bazan Jr, he promised to get our island and the cabinet replaced, We are still waiting... The contractor whom they use has broken 2 appointments already. No one will call us back nor email us back. We are so discusted with this whole process. Take it from an unhappy first time home buyer, dont invest your hard earned money with DR Horton. They are not worth it.
There is no comparison! DR Horton SA is the top of the list when it comes to builders in the SA area. My family and I are looking to purchase a home and have explored so many options to find that nothing else compares to the level that DR Horton has to offer. The entire team is amazing and the homes are fantastic! Kennion and Scott were so helpful! I suggest everyone visit the Brookstone community!
I went with DR Horton in Solana Ridge because we where promised a specific closing date, finally close out payment and weekly updates. I’ve never received an update without having to call and text. Then when I do I receive excuses on why there’s a lack of progress. Everything is a “lack of supplies”, understandable. What isn’t understandable is how you can start the siding of my house and not complete it, then to complete the siding the houses to the left and the right of my house? I understand how interest rates fluctuate, I don’t understand how the closing cost would? Then to top it off I currently can’t even lock an interest rate due to the horribly slow construction rate. They say if I do lock and can’t close due to construction not being complete on time then I’ll have to pay to extend the rate, that sounds like it’s a construction companies responsibility since they’re the ones that are in control of how quickly they complete the job. My whole experience with this company has been unprofessional, extremely lacking and extremely disheartening!
I have yet another leak in my house. Over the last 11 years we’ve spent thousands of Dollars replacing pipes and fixing leaks and walls. Listening to water dripping in my kitchen now. Not supposed to be raining. If you have a chance have someone inspect all the plumbing before they close up walls. We’ve had nails in tubes that weren’t even supposed to been used when built. Very disappointed.
Dream Home Turned NightmareWe bought this house as our first home before we got married back in 2012, it was apart of a red tag sale and was an already built so we got no choice of what was to go in the house. It was supposed to be the place we would grow into and start a family in, we haven’t been able to do that since we have to pay too much in insurance deductibles and repair fees every year to even begin to think about such things. Since we moved in we have had 3 major property damaging leaks due to defective pex piping and 1 leak that could have turned bad, but the only damage it caused was to our SAWS bill that was 3 times it normally should. And last night we found 1 more leak in our laundry room that according to the plumber was because the lines were improperly ran when installed and they found a second major leak in the bathroom that was the same as the other 3 major leaks due to faulty pex pipping. Now I have to call in not 1 but 2 more water damage claims with my insurance that I have already called in 2 others on. And when the plumber was there he looked into our hot water and pressure problem to find that our overflow tank was improperly installed on the hot water heater and caused pressure issues and the heating coils were not installed correctly either and was a possible fire hazard. All we have heard from DR Horton was to call the plumber number left for us by our home builder that when we called the number was disconnected and the warranty people won’t talk to us except with generic canned email responses. And this is only the plumbing issues Im mentioning here not the A.C. or the general construction issues we have had in this house. I would strongly advise any would be buyers to go with someone else, getting an old house would bring less issues than what we had with this house. Just for what we spent on purchase of the house and then repairs we could have bought a really nice fixer upper and had a house built to the specifications we wanted.
Warranty services have been horible. DR Horton offers a 1 year top to bottom warranty. It sounds great and should have been a fantastic part of buying a new home. For the first few warranty repairs there were not any big issues, we had several small issues repaired pretty timely. After about 6 months it felt like they were annoyed with us.I am in the military and getting time off work can be a challenge especially when they only give a day or two notice that they are coming. So I managed to work the time off and the repair contractor wouldn’t show up. Sometimes they scheduled a repair for something that wasn’t broken or scheduled a contractor to fix a fiberglass tub when ours is marble. Overall this has resulted in me missing 15-20 days of work for repairs that no one showed up for.One repair that they have blamed on my wife and I is a burst pipe for our sprinkler back flow valve. There was freezing weather so my wife and I wrapped it up pretty well with insulation material. One of the seals came loose. They told me to uncover it and they were going to come look at it in an hour or two. Well they didn’t come and it got cold and the pipe burst. So now they won’t fix it. Now it is a $500 repair instead of a few bucks to replace the seal. If they weren’t going to come I would have left it covered. We had an inspection done right before our 1 year mark in the house so we could ensure that we had everything possible fixed. One issue was our subfloor upstairs. The repairman found that there was at least one entire section of the subfloor that had 0 screws in it. Great quality here.In front of our house we have a huge oak tree and about a three foot drop to the sidewalk. DR Horton built a beautiful wall in front. It looked fantastic and was one of the selling points of the house. However it has had to be re-mortared 10 times so far. It cracks almost the same day that they repair it. Then it takes them months to come look at it and by that time half of the bricks are so loose that you can move them with your hands. It turns out all they built was a decorative wall to hold the weight of a large oak tree and my entire front yard. Their new “repair” plan is to tear the wall down and build one without visible mortar. That way I can’t see the cracks. It wasn’t really the cracks that bothered me so much as it was the bricks coming loose. All they are doing is making it not show cracks but the bricks will still come loose. They should have had a proper retaining wall put in with a footer and rebar reinforcements but in order to “save” money with repairs and essentially pass the buck onto their customers they won’t fix it right. The final big issue is all of the nail heads on the back of my house have turned black and show through the paint. They came once and washed the house and painted over it. Less than a month later it was back. Now all they are willing to do is wash the house and have said that it is my fault because I have a grill under our patio. However the nail heads are black outside of my patio as well. They said it was mildew and common on the non-sunny side of the house. However it is on sunny sides as well. In addition I have talked to others in the neighborhood and not a single one of them has the same issue. Both the wall and the nails on the back of my house look bad. All DR Hortons repair people have said is that it is standard home maintenance and that they don’t care about my time because these are outside repairs and I don’t need to be there. Again as a military person I will let that go 1 maybe 2 times before I start being home when they do a bad job. This was just a horribly disrespectful comment from my warranty manager. I have contacted the regional manager and it still doesn’t seem to be getting much done. I have pretty much given up on getting my repairs done properly.Beyond selling my house when I move from here I most likely will not buy a DR Horton home and I will not recommend them to anyone. I cannot trust their quality and their customer service is severely lacking.
What a crazy experience with dr horton home warranty. We purchased our dr horton home in Cobalt Canyon in April of 2021 and love the neighborhood. On the other had I have had the worst experience dealing with the home warranty to fix a irritation problem since June 2021. I have been dealing with a representative name Wade for 4 months and he can not seem to get this repaired. I have mentioned foundation problems due to this standing water issue for months and still no resolution. I tell you if your interested In Purchasing a home here you might want to think again. Moving into a new home is an amazing feeling. If they can’t fix a problem in a timely manner and it causes foundation problems I would be extremely worried.Good luck
Dhi Title facilitated a smooth closing for my buyers Jeff and Belle. Their office is clean and they offer sanitizing stations for their visitors. It wasn’t as busy that day so we were in and out. The lady in the front office made sure were comfortable. Alex Garcia the loan officer went out of his way to congratulate my buyers. He made the transaction fairly easy. He was quick and informed me and my buyer on the status of his loan. I highly recommend DHI Title and Alex Garcia!
DR Horton stands behind their homes! I built my home almost 5 years ago and recently discovered a sewer leak under my foundation. I reported it to them and within 24 hours they sent a plumbing team from Christianson Plumbing lead by Pablo Cuellar to investigate it. They uncovered that the sewer has been damaged during construction and had it repaired within a week. The team that came out were very professional and repaired my system without damaging my yard or home, keeping me fully informed of the process and progress. I could not be more happy the DR Horton manager I worked with, Adolf Leal, and the Christianson Plumbing Team! Thank you for turning a horrible situation into a positive experience!! You guys rock!
My final walk through and closing were on the same day. Due to the house failing the energy inspection, they had to untack the carpets, which had not been tacked down at the time of walk through. I was promised the carpet workers would come later that day and fix everything. I came back after my closing to find the worst carpet job Ive ever seen. Of course now Id already closed so I had to make a claim under the warranty. I closed on Dec 30...its now Jan 9th and nothing has been fixed. How am I supposed to move in like this? Im extremely disappointed.
We didnt get the final approval for closing until the day of. They waited until last minute to do so. Then we moved in to our house and had a water leak, contacted every number they gave us and no one called back. Once you purchase a home you can forget about getting a call from your sales rep. Or anyone else for that matter
Im so upset, nothing but plumbing problems. My plumber said the piping is defective or outdated. Now we have another pipe that busted. I just wanna cry. Ill probably get in touch with a lawyer if I dont get the response I need. Now I have 3 big holes in my house. My house is too new to be going through all this.
Best experience possible. I even encouraged my family to purchase a home from DR HORTON. Kennion has been extremely helpful and the homes are gorgeous!
DR Horton ruined my life. Literally. They successfully pushed us out of a contract. We invested so much in moving to SA and leaving everything behind. They are animals. Capitalist dirtbags. I hope your rot
Its been a nightmare. We bought our home and have been trying to get someone to unlock the alarm system Dr.Horton put in so we can put our own in (family owened) but NO ONE will come unlock it! It has become a safety issue for my teen daughter. Im regretting ever buying this home. Buyers beware.
My experience from start to finish with D.R. Horton was fantastic. Anytime I had a warranty the items were addressed quickly and to my satisfaction. Thank you Sales, Construction & Warranty!!!!
Their construction crews are a mess. And will leave trash all over your property. Have fun picking up after their illegal dumping
I found Joe Pineda the operations manager to be unprofessional, small minded and petty. I will never do business with him again or any company that he is associated with.
No one Willing to answer the phone. Everything email or covid excuse, I was basically told I was not the original owner, not willing to give out the address to there office.
Food is always great , breakfast, lunch and dinner no matter when you visit food taste fresh.
