If you plan on buying a new home, thinking it would save you the headache of dealing with issues, do not go with this builder. From the day we moved in we have had issue after issue to include electric not working in our master bedroom, flooring bubbling up, cracked/chipped cabinets, poor caulking, a repair that was done before move in that did protect the carpet underneath (and was not cleaned afterwards). There’s paint on the carpets, mystery matter was coming out from the gaps in the shower walls, and paint that comes off when you wipe it off with a rag. We have only been here for two months.
Are you kidding me. These guys and gals are the best. They will make sure everything is right and you are fully satisfied in your new home. Im fully satisfied and confident in choosing M/I as my builder. I love the home and the comfort knowing anything needed is only a text away. These guys go beyond to make sure your home feels right. Thank you, M/I homes for the comfort you provide.
I’m not one to leave reviews like this, but I want to warn others so hopefully my situation can heed as a warning. I knew my first time purchasing a home would be difficult but this was just a complete nightmare. They’re more than happy to take your money and reach out to you when they need things signed but once you have questions? Good luck getting ahold of anyone. They will turn on you, speak down to you, keep your hard earned money, and cancel your contract without ever letting you know. This has been the absolute worst customer service I have ever received by far. I will let everyone I can possibly know to never do business with this company.
Bought a brand new M/I home in Vista Ridge subdivision. The last year has been nothing short of a nightmare. Over the last 20 years, this is my 3rd brand new home. Out of the 3, this is by far the worst. To begin with, this is an expensive house but was built inexpensively and with the cheapest possible materials and lowest of standards. The bathroom and closet doors are extremely narrow, 18 for the closets and 24 for the bathrooms. The standard commodes are about 11-12 off the floor-no joke! and upgrades to these basic items were not available. Weather stripping around the front and rear doors was poor, allowing rain water to get into the house. Some light switches are placed in locations that are inconvenient or not duplicated for ease of access. The cheap wood simulated linoleum floors in the living/kitchen areas tear at the slightest pressure. Door knobs and hardware are cheap/flimsy. They dropped the ceiling height in the secondary bedrooms and bathroom to 8 versus the 10 ceilings in the rest of the house, including the utility room. These are just a few of the nuisances that came standard with this home. When we expressed our concerns to the construction superintendent and sales manager and requested that the closing be pushed back a week or so in order for them to complete the detailed work in an appropriate manner they were not going to have it, rushing to get everything done so that they could close on their specified date. Do yourself a favor and skip M/I if you value your money and your sanity.
M/I Homes is a joke. From the salesperson to the builders and everyone in between. Purchasing a home through this company has been nothing short of a nightmare. Salesperson gave us false promises on many things including size of backyard, the flooring throughout the house, finishes of the kitchen and some other things. You can definitely tell that M/I Homes is all about QUANTITY over QUALITY. After our inspector came, M/I Homes has to send people to come fix the things he found wrong… I was given a window of when they would arrive, and they didn’t show up in that window. I Called and spoke to someone and they said that the crew was running behind by more than a few hours. This is my only day off from work. By the time they show up, I will have wasted my entire day by waiting for them. None of this was communicated to me. iiiiii had to reach out to them. Super unprofessional and I will say nothing but negative things about this company to friends and family who are looking to purchase a new home. DO BETTER M/I HOMES. Yuck
Im not a harsh critic ( read my history ), but I will say this, you should be EXTREMELY desperate to want to buy from this company and EVEN THEN you should give this company a HARD look before you take that plunge. Please believe the reviews you read about them, because its all there.Edit: They also threatened to cancel our contract on the closing day unless we say we were completely happy. Apparently their contracts only work when the customer breaks it, but they can walk away scott free if they decide that they dont want to live up to their end of it.
Currently own a MI Home in the Highland Grove Neighborhood in New Braunfels Texas. Constantly have problems trying to get MI Homes to answer calls regarding warranty work. Others in the same Neighborhood have the same issues with unresponsiveness and when they do respond they do not arrive on time or follow through. Think twice and then a third time before purchasing through MI Homes
Great company to work with! We really enjoyed the process of having our home built from start to finish! Great communication! Highly recommend! :)
