It’s been a horrible experience purchasing a home from Meritage. Their warranty department is a nightmare to deal with. They do not stand behind their quality of work. I have own the newly built home for six years and I have been dealing their warranty department regarding a foundation issue for more than half of the time. We started to see cracks on our floor tiles inside the house couple years in and the cracks slowly stretches from one side of the house to the other. We opened a case with them and it took forever for them to come check on the issue and they don’t respond to phone calls or emails. They finally sent their foundation contractors come to check and they said everything is within the “standard” of shifting that is causing the crack. So basically they said it’s normal to see cracks stretching from one side of the house to another. So be prepared to see cracks on the floor if you plan to buy a home with Meritage because based on their “standard” it’s “normal” to have floor cracks for their houses. While every other foundation companies I have hired to come in and check are saying that the foundation is shifting and needs to do something before it gets worst. Meritage did come in and repair the tiles and did a regrade on the lawn to have better slope for water drainage (I don’t see the difference than before), but the cracks are still slowly stretching after the regrade. Two years later, I opened the case again because of the continuous tile cracking and it’s been more than three months and still no one has come and check on the issue. It’s almost impossible to contact them since they don’t answer their phone and the emails. Imagine buying a new house and not be able to enjoy it but instead just stress and looking at big long cracks slowly stretching right in the middle of the house. I have a feeling that their strategy is to constantly delaying the repair and wait till the warranty period is over and don’t have to deal with the issue. And also, while my house was being built there were a bunch of beer cans constantly around the construction area (shown in photos). I can only imaging how my house was built.
The experience with the sales representative was great and then we got to the walk through with the guy who is the construction manager and that is where things went downhill. Let me start by saying, Don’t do the survey until everything has been completed on the walk through list!!!! The construction manager and the crew fixing the walk through issues were absolutely disrespectful and rude when it came to the homeowners time and then the repairs weren’t completed that day due to one excuse after another and the workers had to come back. When they did come back it was at inconvenient times and they were told by their boss to just come over and we weren’t notified until they were knocking on our door. The issues are still pending and now we are getting radio silence from the construction manager that is until we received a text with the Meritage Home website to have any additional work done under the warranty. This guy is a joke and we will not be recommending anyone to buy a house as long as he is still their construction manager. A couple of pictures are just some of the issues.
The absolute WORST builder in San Antonio! DO NOT purchase your home from them! Worst decision my husband and I ever made! They NEVER answer the phone and have yet to fully address the issues in our new build home. The emergency line doesn’t work, the contractor never responds back and we are left with a broken AC, cracked shower, chipped granite counters, random splotches of paint, dirty blinds, not painted window ledges, and uneven tile and outlets. We are extremely frustrated and dissatisfied home owners!
My client is currently under contract with Meritage with a contingency to sell her current home. After being on the market for 65 days, her home did not sell. She can not qualify for both homes, so she has to cancel. Per contract, earnest money is refundable if you can not obtain a loan approval. She has now been informed they will be keeping her earnest money. With todays inflation, my client can not afford for such a large builder to keep 1,000.00 of her hard earned money.
We bought our house in November of 2018 in Cibolo, TX. We did the walk through with the construction manager, Hank, and he made a list of repairs that would be made. Our sales contract included a 21 day doorknob to doorknob guarentee so everything from our walkthrough was supposed to be fixed. He said they would be scheduled beginning January of 2019 and they still havent repaired everything. Soon after Hank left Meritage and was replaced by a man named Kenny who was horrible with communication. He promised they would get things fixed and never did. He would go weeks without returning my call or my realtors call. We finally in late 2019 were able to get some of the repairs done but not all. Something happened and Kenny was then not working for Meritage leaving us with no one to contact. Theyre nearly impossible to reach now. When I try to contact the Warranty department they dont return my call because its a construction issue not a warranty claim. My poor realtor has been trying to reach out to everyone there as well. The service after the sale has been terrible. I will never buy another Meritage home and will never recommend them. The repairs needed are SO simple. Im beyond disappointed.
Poor customer service, poor detail construction, issues within first year of ownerships is ridiculous, brand new kitchen sink fell out below counter, our grass not installed properly, multiple times have had warranty come through fix repeatedly same issue, tub faucets keep coming off not installed properly, lights always go out randomly, water leaks inside home when it rains, outdoor banisters not installed properly. Also tried several times to call, and left several messages at the number warranty number. Its been over 5 days no response or anything. I have a make shift wood columns holding up my sink. As mentioned in my messages I live in Arcadia Ridge community.
My appointment was with Jessica Garza!! What should I say about her,I wish I could give her negative ratings. She Will make you feel so uncomfortable, I literally felt as if she was doing a huge favor on us for letting us select the designs into the design studio. I had a very awful experience with her.She is very impatient & have a very bad attitude towards the home buyers, I literally felt like canceling the contract At a certain point because of her attitude. She was making us rush in to selecting the design, as soon as we got there. She kept on saying this how we do things at Meritage Homes, As customer/ buyer , I feel they need to understand that we are paying a huge amount of money to built our dream home , I don’t think we should be treated in such a way. I am sure am not the only one who has been through such a horrible experience. She was getting so impatient that she almost made selections just because we were looking at a particular design, also if you ask her what kind of cabinets you have in evergreen plan can you give us more info or any more designs related questions her answer is “ I don’t know “ . She did not even show us half of the designs (wood flooring etc)
We built the house at the Messina neighborhood. The sale and the interior selection was a great experience. However, once the house stars built, the entire building process was very frustrated. We doubt the house could be closed on time, but The CM promised to us the house would be definitely closed on time and he will make sure everything is done by closing day. Guess what, he lied to us several times, we have to stay in a hotel for a week to wait for the house is ready to closing. At the closing , we still have quite a few items need to be fixed and completed, it has been taken them almost 8 months, and still have a lot of items need to be fixed. OMG….if they really want to take care of them, all the work probably could be completed and fixed within a week… I hate to beating a dead horse, but it is not fair to us to buy a new built with all these issues.
Do not buy a home from Meritage. Their homes are poorly built and they refuse to make any repairs even after admitting it was installed incorrectly. The warranty department is a joke. My grass was installed incorrectly and the whole neighborhood is having the same issue and they refuse to correct it.
We have had nothing but issues since we closed. Our a/c unit has went out one month after our one year. Our upstairs subfloor has wholes in them and are they are loose moves as you walk. Our lights flicker and strobe everytime we do laundry and we were told that is normal. These are just a few of the problems we have and they still have not been addressed them. They provide poor quality homes.
They failed to send e a found foe there defective retaining wall and fence repair. They owe me $7800 for repairs out of pocket for poor construction work.
I have left three messages for Meritage Home to contact me about my home. I still have not received a call back nor can I reach anyone by phone during work hours.
Poor, unprofessional and bad service! Do not use them! Find a better builder! Look at their work. Supposed to be a hole and a connection. Never completed
No one answers customer service. I have called and left st least 10 messages over the last two weeks and no one has called back. Unreal
