For a company that claims “know what it is to serve”, their service is horrible. If you’re a bank member with USAA there is only one location in the world to go in and get service with an employee. They are always packed. The line is out the door employees have no sense of urgency managers don’t come out to help you wait for over an hour to make a deposit cash a check or do a minor baking transaction horrible horrible service. I will no longer be using them as a bank. If they’re gonna make lofty claims about service they should live up to that claim. It is horrible to bank with USAA. You guys are doing our military men and women a disservice service by comparing yourselves to them.

Ive been a member for over 25 years. USAA has gone steadily downhill over the last decade. I no longer use them for my direct deposit, savings, and I have a zero balance on my credit card with them that I will never use again. My car insurance rate keeps going up every renewal, despite zero accidents and tickets. USAA used to boast about having billions of dollars in reserves, so why are my rates going up? I used to work for them years ago, and I had a WWII vet call in tears because his car insurance rate had gone up significantly just because of the area he had lived in for the past 20 years had a random rate increase. He couldnt afford the car insurance anymore. I quit shortly after that. USAA does not care about veterans. Ive had issues with them repeatedly over the years, their online app sucks, customer service has gone downhill, etc. I switched banks and Im very pleased with my new one. I cannot recommend USAA.

Saturday the lobby should be open till 1pm and it was closed 9 min till. I have to withdraw 7800 out to pay for new air conditioning unit, so Ive been sitting in drive through for 22min and there two cars in front and they put the closed lights on, what ×*#*×(#&*!*÷!

I completely agree with the previous negative reviews. We have been a customer of USAA for over 35 years and every interaction I’ve had with them recently has been absolutely frustrating, infuriating and disappointing. I got a feeling these guys are gonna go out of business if they keep handling customer service like this. For example, before you could proceed to talk to the helpdesk person, you’ve gotta answer yes or no to a question that will not accept a response. I don’t think they think that stuff out on their application.

Loyal USAA member for 18 Years. Ive had a mortgage through them, auto loans, home/car insurance... Just visited the physical branch in San Antonio today to receive a tellers check to buy a vehicle and was not disappointed. Thank you for always making it right!

If i could rate 0 stars, I would. Recently had the misfortune of a direct deposit “mishap” that was completely out of my control and USAA neglected to let me know they canceled my deposit (no account alerts, letters NOTHING). Because of this, my rent bounced back and i’m now out $200 in late fees/return fees at the hands of USAA who i’ve been banking with for 5 years now. For the past 2 days, i’ve had to waste my time talking to people constantly blaming it on everything else but themselves and saying “that’s just how the system is.” Im so tired of being talked to by people who are clearly reading a script and “can understand my frustration” but offer NO solutions. You clearly don’t care about your customers, so please spare us the BS. Like another reviewer said, i can’t believe this is the bank for people who served. Do better. Just another greedy company.

These people are unbelievably rude. Asking for help with accounts after a family member and all they could do was not allow us to complete a full sentence, told us what they wouldn’t do, and wouldn’t allow us to speak to someone discreetly rather through a plastic barrier like a pawn shop. Don’t waste your time with this bank, their seriously terrible customer service, or your presence. We’ve decided to close all of our accounts and credit cards after 30 years at USAA. Inexcusable behavior.

I have been a member of USAA for over 20 years. Today I tried to exchange old Eisenhower dollar coins for cash and was told they dont give cash at the bank. You can only get cash at the ATM. Ok, let me deposit the coins into my account. No, cant do that either. The bank doesnt take coins because they dont have a sorter. I cant get cash or deposit coins?!?!?!? ITS A BANK!!!!! Done with USAA and this craziness. Time to find another bank!!

10 years as a faithful customer ended when an error in my auto pay ended my auto policy. No phone call, no letter. When I tried to fix the discrepancy over the phone they jerked me around until I finally quit calling back. After that experience Im embarrassed to have ever done business with usaa.

First it was my debit card, then transferring money from my savings account without my authorization, then charging fees I was not aware of. Im sick of them. Please again do not bank with them!

Totally suck, cant even rely on mobile banking to make a deposit. On the phone customer service also sucks and average hold time every time I call in is over 30 minutes. ATMs also suck and wont let you deposit cash. Time to leave this bank.

Worst drive-through Ive ever been in. Seriously almost 2hrs with 5 cars deep. Reading previous reviews I see USAA has little care to fix this. Theyre a major credit union but one branch to handle business. Having a few ATMs around town doesnt provide a solution to this issue. May look into going with another credit union soon.Update: Still the absolute most pitiful in person banking system.

Shut down the AI. Your AI fraud detection is embarrassing your customers all over their communities.36yr member and they locked me out of my acct, declining transactions. Every other transaction is declined and I never know whether its going to be accepted or declined. Theres no explanation and your representatives have no control. Text messages are not coming to verify transactions so that they can be completed. You are ruining your reputation and your relationship with customers.If I go, my family goes. Fix it.

I have been a USAA member for 20+yrs. Using their banking service and exceptional customer service. Mobile deposit etc were all great.But off late, it has gotten worse and worse.First, extremely low Zelle transfer limits. Here is what their customer rep saysUp to $1,000.00 within a rolling 24-hours, 3 transactions per day.Up to $2,500.00 within a rolling 7 days, 21 transactions per week.Up to $10,000 aggregate for the month, 90 transactions per month.We do not have the ability to increase Zelle limitAlmost every bank gives much higher limits than these 1000/2500/10000.Secondly, a month or so ago, they have REMOVED access to add any external bank you DO NOT own. How ridiculous is that?? Are you a bank or PRISON?Am shopping around and will soon end all my accounts with USAA.

Wayne Peacock and the board told us all it was ok to go remote during covid. We kept their business running while our loved ones died. We were more productive during this time as well. And then I heard they might have they told employees that everyone within a 60 mile radius has to come in 4x days a week or they would lay them off. They said this was for culture. It was to fire the employees they over hired in such a way as to avoid paying severance. And to prop up their bad real estate investments. Wayne and the board led the company into the first major loss in 100 years. USAA is just another greedy corp with core values of honor and integrity while lying, cheating, and general disregard for employees and customers.Go ELSEWHERE.

I’ve only been to deposit and withdraw cash but it can be at least 20 to 25 minute wait. Lobby line can be long inside. Drive thru, you can be next in line and still be there awhile. If you pull up to an open empty lane there will still be people ahead of you. They do not have the coin machine anymore. They do not accept rolled up coins either

I have been a member over 40 years. The last 5 years customer service has gone down the tubes. Each time I call, I get a different answer, and am often referred to the self service feature website. I will tell the rep that feature does not work. Oh, sorry. And, then they tell me they will make the changes or help me. They dont. For over 6 months Ive been attempting to make some minor changes to my accounts. They keep telling me, so sorry, well fix it. and then dont. Ive even written letters to no avail. Seriously, my military friends and family are leaving in droves, we need service.

Drive thru line is ridiculous! Saturday is the busiest banking day for most working class Americans. The teller staff should be at maximum capacity. This is unfave and not accommodating to your members. Do something better for our loyalty or people will move their money.

After being with USAA for 28+ years bringing most of my family to USAA for everything renters insurance homeowners insurance car insurance life insurance… List goes on, I file a claim and it has been the worst experience ever and it’s been three weeks and still not resolved. Anyone else having these kind of experiences? Where are you going? Who is better thank you. I have been promised phone calls, four weeks they never come. I’ve been promised it would be resolved the following day and it hasn’t three weeks later however today they inform me that the original refund quote I got was wrong and I’m gonna get way less, not even enough to cover the computer that was lost. Really just blown away

UPDATE: September 01, 2023 (Still grumbling years later!).Follow up 2 1/2 years later update. Wow! I cant make this stuff up! USAA is my primary bank. However, after today I will reallocate emergency savings elsewhere. I went thru the main bank drive through here in San Antonio at approximately 2:50 on Friday, Sept 1st. It took over 30 minutes to make an emergency withdrawal from my Savings that would exceed any ATM withdrawal authorized amount to be withdrawn. Keep in mind that it is over 100 degrees outside and will soon hit rush hour traffic. There are 6 drive thru lanes open and there are only 6 cars there. I asked the teller why it takes over 1/2 an hour to withdraw my funds. She told me it was the 1st of the month. I then told her that there were only 6 cars in 6 lanes. She told me that there are now 4 tellers, 2 of which, just came back from lunch. (so, I guess that explanation justifies my 1/2 hr wait to withdraw MY own $). She then abruptly ended our video correspondence. Bottom line - Folks, I highly recommend you keep any emergency cash in a bank that is close to you that is readily available. USAA has gone to the dogs! Hope this info helps. I say this because most folks are complacent and just let stuff like this slide. I promise you that if you reallocate your assets elsewhere, the customer service will become much better. It has lost its personal touch, as it has become a major banking system. Heres what is terribly frustrating (see pic). The lobby has been shut down because of pandemic. I get that. However, they only have 5 lanes open for drive-thru. Hmmmm... How about converting 2 ATM lanes to drive-thru lanes. Took close to 1 hour to make cash withdrawal that exceeded ATM limit. Furthermore, one could see only 3 tellers thru the front window who were servicing those 5 lanes. Enough said. Sad state of affairs. Worst bank Ive ever suffered and even worse insurance.Hurricane Florence dropped a tree on my roof in 2018, caved the roof in on my master bedroom. USAA claims estimator came out and estimated the damage at $900... USAA refused to pay out because the USAA estimate was less than my deductible. Afterwards I hire 3 companys to come out and give me estimates, they ranged from $18,000 to $26,000. I sent these estimates to USAA and they refused to accept them because the were not conducted by a USAA certified contractor. So instead I watched about 200 hours of YouTube videos on roof repair, drywalling, insulation, deep water repair, recarpeting and felling trees. Spent about $8,000 on a bunch of specialty tools and supplies and took a week of leave to do it myself. Thanks for being a scam USAA, you had 1 job and utterly failed at it. For the rest of my career I will share this story with my Soldiers and advise them to stay away from USAA.

Went in to set up a new account because I had heard so many good things about USAA. Tried online however their website was having issues so i decided to apply in person. Upon entry I noticed a line several people deep and while there were two people at the window, only one, a female was helping anyone. After about five minutes it was my turn; I said I would like to speak with someone about opening an account. The girl was very condescending and told me that I should have already applied online like everyone else does. When I told her I tried and that the site was having issues she said it was my problem. When I asked to speak with a banker to set up an account, I was told by her that they dont do that anymore and havent for the last five years; told me I should have known that fact. When I said I was new to Texas she then informed me that I should do better research on who I bank with before showing up in person.USAA has lost my business period.

Closed my checking account last week,after trying unsuccessfully for 3 months to add my wife Maria to the account. At first I thought Bill Andryusky was just extremely incompetent,then I realised ,he was intentiionally descriminating against Maria,who is Mexican. There were 6 excuses(lies) in total,form wasnt dated,question wasnt answered,form was missing.....Im actually glad it happened though,after reading all the horrible reviews,in which dozens of my fellow veterans had money stolen from their accounts,I closed my account last week,not wanting to be another victim of the veteran hating USAA. This bank has seriously gone done hill. Its a shame. They used to be outstanding. I have been a member for 21 yrs and Ive noticed a rapid decline in all services. Ill bought homes and cars in the past using USAA and always had great service. I have been working on an auto loan that has been approved, but I cant close the loop on it. Every time I can for a status update, Im told there is something missing from my file. I always ask the agent, Are there any forms missing? No, youre all set, Sir. Ill call back, and then its another document to sign or send it. Time to shop for another bank.

They have one bank lobby. Its their headquarters. They will only accept fifteen coins for deposit. In quarters, thats less than $4. The staff is not helpful. The teller told me to use Coinstar. My **bank** told me to pay a third-party 10% to cash my coins. What a joke.

Apparently they will only take,literally, 14 pieces of change to deposit. They won’t take coins that have been rolled up properly. When I asked what I’m supposed to do with the change, I got the answer that I should try another bank. I think I’ll take that advice. Thanks USAA.

Insane insurance pricing on top of ridiculous issues with accounts, like not protecting/reimbursing fraudulent charges, has left me no choice but to leave USAA entirely.

I have banked with USAA for over twenty years and have witnessed their customer service and treatment of their employees steadily erode. USAA was once a great company who treated their customers and their employees very well. Now this company seems to be struggling to merely survive. They chose to fire long time employees and overload existing employees which inevitably caused their customer service to decline and the mental health of their employees to suffer.I have no interest in continuing to support this defunct institution and will be closing my account.

Their fancy drive-up ATM depository at the main building took my $650.00 in cash and then shut down. After it rebooted there was no record of my deposit. After talking to 2 people in the bank that could not help me, I was forced to call someone in India to start a claim that could take up to 45 days to resolve!!!!! Do not deposit in their ATMs because they can’t guarantee it, go to a human! If this doesn’t get resolved, I will be leaving for another bank because they will have stolen that money from me. So angry!!!

I requested paper copies of my updated policies 3 times. This is what happened:1. Sent somebody else’s documents - I guess they don’t give a care about PII2. Sent policy copies from 2012/2013 - Why haven’t these been purged by now?3. Sent the most recent out of date policies - Get better automationI knew they were in trouble they abruptly closed all brick and mortar locations.They aren’t the same bank my grandparents and parents banked.

I have had nothing but issues with USAA for the last year . It is insane that a bank this large has such a horrible automated system. When you first call every time I have to call I spent five minutes messing around with the automated system that doesn’t understand anything that I say even though I enunciate incredibly clear. This is the second time now that my auto loan has been paid twice and they take the money out of my account last time I just paid ahead and this time when I requested the money back, they said it would take 2 to 5 days to get it back to me. My own bank is stealing my money and then refusing to give it back to me for 2 to 5 days. I will be closing all of my accounts and refinancing my idol on somewhere else I’ve been a member for 26 years and I don’t know what’s going on over there, but this place is no longer what it used to be horrible horrible customer service and disorganization. Oh, and I forgot to mention when I got my auto insurance policy they left a very important detail off that cause my license to be suspended for several months and nothing was ever done to rectify the situation.Horrible

I used to love USAA. They used to have great customer service and provide all the banking and insurance needs I had. I do not know what is going on there but I am considering leaving USAA after more than 30 years. Come on USAA, get it together. Your customers are your most important asset. How can you be happy with an average Google review score of 1.9? That is a failing grade.

Thirty Four yr. member here. Asked for a settlement check from my car that was a total loss. Was assured by Three USAA employees settlement check would be treated as cash and I could cash it upon presentation. There is No direct phone number to the bank or a branch manager, only a lead teller. The USAA settlement check was drawn on Bank of America, one of many subcontractors of USAA, and I had to deposit it upon which USAA placed a 10 day hold. Since when does it take 10 days to clear a bank check? The office of the CEO is Sorry. Every time they thank me for my Thirty Four yr. Membership with USAA I feel like a fool. What kind of a bank treats its members like this? USAA!

Service here has become absolutely tragic. I spent hours on the phone with USAA earlier this spring to get financial documents required for a visa. I specified over and over and over that the docs needed to be either stamped with the USAA seal or signed by a USAA rep. I received at least five mailings from USAA for my various accounts, not one of which contained documents that were stamped or signed. They charged me $40 (since refunded) for repeatedly mailing me docs that did not satisfy my repeatedly stated visa requirements. Some of these unstamped, unsigned docs arrived actual weeks after the deadline I had specified I needed them by to get my visa.Today I used the chat service about a problem with a large deposit. The rep was simultaneously flippant and incoherent. Yikes. What has happened to this bank???

The bank lobby has been closed since March 16, 2020. Today is July 13, 2021. Vaccines are available to the public, most businesses are operating as they did pre-Covid, yet the USAA bank lobby is closed. They wait time to get up to a drive thru teller is well over an hour. This is ridiculous. I’m changing banks. USAA is NOT all that. This is horrible customer service.

Closed my account as a 40+year customer due to AWFUL customer service. Despite numerous attempts and hours on the phone, I could never get a straight answer to a simple question why they withheld federal taxes from a payment despite having a proper W-9 on file.USAA continues to disappoint. I uploaded their form to cancel a loan. Website says they will review/respond within 48 hours. 2 weeks later so I called and was told they tried to call me after a week and left a voicemail indicating a problem with my form. That was a lie. No missed calls, no voicemail. Why would they lie knowing that smart phones keep a log of calls?Im done with them.

I didn’t believe the reviews but they are true. USAA needs fixing. Not the USAA I remember. Only two speeds slow and stop at drive thru. Can’t get human on phone and where is the walk in location?? Please fix this and I’ll be happy to give 5 stars. Still sitting and cars backed up. Update: teller was sweet. Review is for USAA corporate management to let this happen to valued vets. I have been a member of USAA for 30 years and over the past decade have noticed a severe decline in their service. During a recent issue my daughter had a direct deposit misapplied. We contacted USAA who said there was nothing they could do and we would need to contact the employer, which we did. The employer offered to get on a conf. call with USAA to figure out a resolution. USAA, during this call, gave no help or direction in how to resolve the issue and repeatedly stated there was nothing they could do. Over the course of a few months contacting USAA on a regular basis we were finally told to get a letter from the employer stating the money belonged to my daughter and were given a fax number to send it to. We faxed the document 10 times over two months and USAA contended they never received it despite us having fax confirmation. It has now been 5 months, dozens of phone calls and faxes and my daughter still does not have her money. Whatever you do, do not do business with USAA.

Left USAA today after thirteen (13) years. At one time had all services with them mortgage, banking, home and auto insurance. The straw that broke the camels back was insurance. DO NOT recommend for insurance especially Auto Insurance. Their excuse for raising auto policy premiums is inflation. I made no claims and no tickets. My new auto insurance I pay 600.00 less annually. A side note; when I ended up stranded on the side of the road my car manufacturer tow truck showed up within 40 minutes whereas USAA tow service showed up within two hours. When USAA tow truck service called saying they were there I was already at the car shop having my vehicle looked at. Glad not to be in business with USAA anymore. Best choice I ever made.

I canceled a hotel in Feb. The hotel never sent thru the refund request, so I later disputed the charge with USAA. The hotel accepted the chargeback. As of May 2, USAA has closed all of my accounts and is holding my funds due to Fraud. Please better educate your employees, USAA. This is unacceptable.

Over the years USAA service has gotten worse. A few months ago I cancelled an excursion that o had paid with my USAA CC. The merchant did not want to return my money so I protested it through USAA. It took them 5 tries to find the right charge and then said I had not cancelled (I provided evidence of 3 calls and the emails). I found out later they had lost the evidence. They are not there to help their members. They are now helping other big businesses. Today I saw my insurance went up (no accidents, no claims, driving less). I looked it up and I noticed things had gone up (some double) and my premier driver discount was gone. I called and after 1.5 hours I was told we assessed your state higher and for the discount its there we just no longer show it. So I am supposed to trust them? Totally not helping members any longer.

USAA was good to me until they weren’t. PCSed and unfortunately a significant amount of fraud. To add to that situation, my pay was affect from the PCS and received a stunning 1500 paycheck for January as a CPO with 16 years in. USAA response to my claim was to freeze my account by making them credit only. They won’t release, transfer, or wire funds. They say that from February 22, they will send a check in 69 days. So we have no access to funds. Family of 5! USAA cares about US - meaning themselves. Oh, and if anyone didn’t read their reports from last year…they are hurting. Just saying, reconsider!Be kind,cj

Update on USAA Visa - while I was unable to make advanced reservations in South Africa, I had no difficulties in country, from ATM’s, gas stations, restaurants. It was still difficult to ‘approve/verify’ visa charges on the USAA app while in remote (Kruger Natl Park) locations. I now have a Chase Visa for travel, never had a problem with Chase Visa. I upped review to 3 stars.Original post:Review is only on USAA Visa Card - be careful when traveling as the fraud system at USAA will freeze your account even if you use the app or text to enter a USAA code to authorize the transaction. Called USAA, multiple times, as accounts kept being locked up by fraud alerts for overseas purchases - was told that pre-authorization is no longer possible, if fraud alert locks accounts you must call to get account cleared, but the fraud lock can no longer be manually overturned.I now have a Chase Sapphire card for travel, cannot risk accounts frozen while overseas.Never had this problem in the past and other banking has been great. Be careful if your only credit/debit cards are from USAA.

After 25 years at USAA I am changing to other banking, insurance, and mortgage providers and no longer trust or recommend USAA services to other military personnel. Wish I had listened to other military members over the last few years about the downward spiral of USAA. ***DO NOT USE USAA***First banking, USAA debit and credit cards “potential fraud department” essentially makes it impossible to confidently use their cards. Basically, you must carry another card from a different organization ready for use because you never know when it is going to work. This results in them turning off all other transaction until you resolve their automated calls/texts. The burden is on the user. This causes problems with later automatic payments i.e. cell phone provider, streaming service, online purchase too. Enjoying going back to everyone (except USAA) to resolve your declined payments. After many hours on the USAA phone/chat conversation I decided to cancel my credit card (not able to confidently use it anyway). The USAA provides told me they would not cancel my credit card until I update all my information i.e. my rank. I am not sure what my military rank has to do with me canceling a credit card. I repeatedly asked for any management or leadership to call you back without results. After multiple conversations with different USAA associates, I was finally able to cancel my credit card. Also, when I spoke to Carlos at the “Members resolution team” I was told he was the highest person I could talk too, and that management would not call me back. Horrible service and do not trust them with your money or credit.Second insurance, if you must file an auto claim for incident that was the other person’s fault USAA does not help. Effectively you must talk to and work with other person insurance organization who goal is to save their organization money / interests. I decided to change due to the service and was surprised to find out it costs much less for the same coverage. Many insurance providers have much better rates and service.Finally, home loans, I used USAA for my second house purchase. This was a huge mistake, and I did not use them for my third house purchase. I repeatedly documented USAA mortgage department received all documentation they needed to close on my house. USAA informed me on the last couple of days that they needed additional information, and I would not be able to close on my house. This would have resulted in me losing my earnest money. After many hours on the phone, I provided proof of USAA error and was able to close on the house. This can be very painful while moving your household goods and selling your previous house. I almost had to put everything in storage and live in hotel while I started the process all over. I do not recommend USAA unless you like additional time and stress spent dealing with their mistakes.Recommend military personnel NOT use USAA for any services. USAA was previously competitive and provided great service, which is no longer the case. Now, I am changing to other providers.

WORST BANK EVER!! Customer service will hang up on you, like they did me twice, fraud on my account several times, I changed my phone number after the fraud incident and sent in the documents to verify my account. They said someone will call in 2-3 days. No one has called me and it’s been weeks. I still can’t access my account at all but the hackers did it very easily. I have no access to my money and they locked me out. I can’t make this up at all. Once I get this fixed, I am switching right away. Over 15 years of banking with them and I am so disappointed!!

Never thought I would write a review complaining about USAA. This is banking, not insurance. Deposited a check via mobile banking for $14k from a brokerage. USAA put a hold on part of it because it was not a deposit that happens monthly. After 50 years with them, you’d think it was a secure deposit. Spoke to the Resolution Office where a condescending person explained there was no one reason for the “hold”, but just like all the other big banks, they had to take precautions. That’s the key: just another big bank. So I’m moving to a local bank. As to insurance: read other reviews. USAA is no longer less expensive or more responsive. Choose another insurer. A sad end to what was once a great company.

Wish there was an option to review with negative stars. Whatever you do, DO NOT BANK with USAA. Also, read the BBB reviews/complaints. We have had the worst experience we never would have imagined from this bank. Without warning or ANY notification before or since, USAA accused my vet partner of fraud and locked him out of his account. It’s been months that they’ve held his SSDI check with no resolution and endless hours of useless customer (non)service calls. After reading other BBB reviews/complaints, I wonder if it’s a scam operation to hold/possibly use your funds while they have them tied up under the guise of whatever reg they claim. We’d also filed a complaint with the OCC but haven’t heard back yet. USAA is an absolute disgrace to its customers and vets. Anyone know any journalists that would cover what they are doing? I know my partner would love to expose them.

Should be 0 stars. Our account was hacked to the sum of 2k. USAA acknowledged the fraud, but they wont reimburse us because my husband and I share a profile for our JOINT checking account. Weve been customers for over a decade with 7 different accounts, now were moving everything to our local credit union.Update: it has been a week, USAA sent me a message right after my review saying someone would reach out to me. Nobody has reached out and the 2k dollars has not been returned to my account. Just yesterday I reached out to Navy Federal credit union and I will be moving our accounts there. USAA is just like any other bank. They would like to make you think they are not but they are. I recently deposited a check for $14k from Fidelity Investments. USAA put a hold on part of that check and wouldnt release it. I understand if this was a personal check or something, but this is from a reputable investment company IRA disbursement. Im too deep with USAA with all the products I have, but Im at the point that I will slowly, start pulling my things and moving them to RBFCU. It may take me some time, but its time to get this going. USAA has lost sight of it’s mission, to support military and dependents. They are only in it for the money now. Totally impersonal. They treat you like a stranger after 30years of membership because they have outsourced their banking and credit cards services to outside agencies. I have a great credit score w no debt and was refused a loan because they relied on Experian to make the credit decision for them without regard to my having excellent credit history with USAA. They need to look their member’s history which they refuse to do.

Irst let me say that Ive been a member of USAA for over 23 years. In that time Ive had a great experience.In this case, I made a simple request for a cashiers check for a large purchase. In the several tens of thousands. Should have been a simple transaction. Instead, they shut my account down for 3 days for requesting a cashiers check? Now I call looking for my check, they cant provide a check number or a tracking number with Fedex or any shipper. They says its been processed but dont have any information on the check at all. I have been on the phone for days. USAA has completely dropped the ball here. Fail, Fail, Fail.

Confirmed with USAA that they still do coin exchange at this location, drove 3 hours to exchange my 10+ gallon change jar I’ve saved up over a decade, just to find out they removed the machine because “it was too much of a hassle”. I have banked with USAA for 26 years. Since they hired their current CEO, who thinks of ‘genius’ new ways to cut costs, they’ve been going downhill. The underwriting is ridiculous for home insurance. They completely botched our credit cards, cancelling one, not paying the balance (which is normal practice), deleting the account in the app, then reported us as bad credit. I had a new bank initiate a balance transfer AND USAA BLOCKED IT. It dropped my credit score by 40 points when I didn’t pay a bill they never told me about and for which THERE WAS NO WAY TO PAY IT. If I wanted to, I’m pretty sure I could have a lawyer help me get compensation from USAA. What can they do about that? Nothing says the minimum wage worker who answered the phone. I highly recommend banking locally. There isn’t really a benefit from using USAA anymore like there used to be. It’s not impressive when you have one thing to do as a credit card company and fail at multiple levels of the very basics of your fundamental business. I feel I am doing a public service by lowering their rating in a way that potential customers see it.

Im still on hold as I write this review. Ive always loved USAA customer service, but wow, this is awful. I called this location to see if I could cash out some Treasury bonds. After navigating their web of robotic answering systems, I finally got a hold of a human... Who was not local to the branch office I called. That person then told me he would have to redirect my call to the local branch (which is how I got this guy to begin with). I spent 19 minutes on hold before a local person answered. I asked if they had a brick and mortar bank location in San Antonio . She said she didnt know and she would have to put me on hold to find out. She came back five minutes later and asked me to re-state my question so she could type it down verbatim. After she got it down, she asked to put me on a brief hold again. I asked if she could call me back instead. Nope, she cant do that. I said I could do a BRIEF hold but I had already been on hold for over 30 minutes. She said nothing except for mumbling of course under her breath before putting me on hold. Pretty sure shes never coming back. Im done.

Utterly disappointed in USAA. Long term member and ex employee and from one day to the next they are putting a SEVEN day hold on depositing checks. I call and speak with a rep and they instruct me to cash it next time. I do such, I sit in the drive thru for 40 minutes (bc the lobby is STILL closed) just to be told they will only cash 20% of my check and hold the rest! I will no longer be banking here. Customer service has really declined.This is just the banking side-my next concern was my insurance rates doubling at renewal, with no claims or tickets and still they managed to charge me $300 a month for 1 vehicle. Keep looking….major concerns over how business is being managed.

The online experience is good. But here are some of the problems I experience:Calling USAA used to be a pleasant experience, but no longer. The automated computer service is not helpful, as she has difficulty understanding English. Also, it takes several minutes of waiting for prompts and online messages, just to talk with someone.USAA stopped allowing me to put a travel alert on my debit card. This is important to me as I travel to Canada on a regular basis.USAA stopped providing Morningstar reports. :(USAA put a hold on part of your paycheck if you dont keep a large enough average daily balance, even if you have been a member for over ten years.The interest rates on savings accounts are very low.USAA stopped allowing automatic downloads of transaction information to non-Quicken computer programs. Sure, you can export to CSV, but this is cumbersome. My favorite accounting software no longer works with my USAA checking account. I assume this is so USAA can sell more copies of the Quicken software.The insurance rates are not competitive with Progressive, at lease for me.If the government ran a bank, this might be what it looks like. I am in the process of moving my accounts to a local bank.

I love USAA but the drive thru teller experience is absurd. I praise the company when its deserved but I also think its important to share negative feedback when its warranted. Every time I go through the drive through it takes at least an hour, even when theres only two cars in front of you. Something is obviously broken. I dont blame the tellers as theyre always courteous and I know its not their fault. It is the fault of whoever oversees the experience and I think their corporate office should take notice.

If I could rate it lower, I would do so. I have been a member for over 20 years, and as long as you dont have to do anything out of the ordinary, its just like any other bank. As soon as you need to do anything else, they are absolutely horrible. I had to deal with a death, and the only thing they were good at is closing accounts. They were absolutely no help, and I was actually told that they could not help me. If you have a trust account for a family member, I highly suggest you move your accounts to a different bank. I am extremely disappointed in their handling of the passing of a family member.

BANK ELSEWHERE or you may not have access to your accounts.My wife is locked out of her account with no recourse because our cell provider upgraded their network so they sent us new SIMs for our phones. No change in provider, no change in phone number but now my wife cannot authenticate who she is to get ANY service from USAA. There is no way to get a token (the 6-digit number for two-factor authentication) to login to her account. Not so long ago you could simply provide enough personal info that a bank rep (we used to call them tellers) could still provide service. Not any more. The web and app geniuses who designed USAAs security have a massive FLAW because when you get a new SIM, whether or not you have a new ISP or phone, USAAs system decides your IMEI number doesnt match up so there is no way to send you a token. Their solution is to do nothing meaning she may be locked out of her account for 30 days, when the old, inactive IMEI will be somehow tossed by their wonderful system. Its not because the people you speak to on the phone dont want to help, they CANNOT help because, again, the geniuses who designed the security didnt build in a way to edit an IMEI manually so tech support could fix the problem. Im beginning to think theyre running the whole place on MS-DOS.We spent well over 3 hours troubleshooting with USAA tech support to end up still locked out of the account. There is no excuse for this level of security. She gets no notices which means someone could completely clean out the account before she gets access to it 30 days from now.

Ive been a member for over 25 years. I used USAA for everything: banking, insurance, savings etc. DO NOT open a new account with this bank. Find a local credit union to give your time and money to. I have never been so disrespected by a bank I was so loyal to. I used to recommend them to everyone that qualified for their account. I now regret ever giving them my money and friends money. As a 23 year member, there has been a severe decline in service. Sucks is such an inadequate word for your automated phone system. Fire whoever set this up immediately!! It probably works fine for all the things you could just as easily do online but its difficult and nearly impossible to get to a live person that can resolve your issue on the fist try. Recently an USAA ATM machine ate my debit card and I had to request a replacement. The first card they sent had first name middle initial although Ive explained many times I use my middle name. The second replacement card was sent to a FedEx drop-off location instead of my home. I only found this out by calling USAA and going through the torture of using the automated phone system. I activated the card using the 1-800 number but the first time I had tried to use the new card, the pin didnt work. I tried to reset the pin using the mobile app but when I typed pin reset into the search box, it only gave me choices to increase my debit card limits. Yet one more round of phone torture to get to a live person. Today, I went to the bank lobby in San Antonio to withdraw money above the ATM limit. There were only 3 teller windows open and for about 5 minutes, all 3 tellers were in the back doing something. When I finally got to a teller, he said he only had 2 $100 bills in his drawer. I was in line for nearly 45 minutes. I could recount a lot more stories about your phone system. Did I mention it SUCKS?? People I talk with are usually helpful and friendly but management is clearly tone deaf or these problems would be fixed.

If I could give a zero, I would!! My account was hacked. They were able to deposit money into my account and then pull money out late at night. While I was sleeping. I woke up to a deposit being held and emailed for me to call the bank. I look to check my transaction history and see its true, I had over 2000 in the bank being held for confirmation, but that wasnt my money. I called and made the report, and now my account is locked, and Im being held responsible for paying that money back, and the fraud department said they wont take further action!!! Are you serious!!!?? I am reporting this, and Im letting you know that i was asleep, check the cameras, and see if you got a license plate from machines that the withdrawing was. Do your job and investigate. Honestly, Im not paying for what was not my fault! Worst bank Ive ever worked with.

So many bad reviews, after several years of being a loyal customer I will be leaving. Im posting here because my BBB post was settled but only because I didnt reply in the 6 day requirement. It was not settled, we just came to an agreement that USAA is not doing anything more for the claim. I was charged for the alignment that wasnt done, a diagnostic that I agreed to and balancing that was not done but attempted to get done twice. I would really like to know why Im paying for all of this but nothing is really getting done. I paid for work that was not done. The way they left my vehicle actually damaged it and I have proof. To top it off, they wanted me to bring it back in so they can look at it. I brought it in there 3 times already! I submitted a dispute with USAA but it was very difficult due to software issues on their site. I called but I was told that it could take 90 days. Online it says 30 but whatever. I ended up calling again because I didnt hear anything. Apparently they only correspondence they could do is send me a note through the USAA account. I spoke with someone who said this doesnt look right, he said to resubmit. Again didnt hear anything for 90 days so I called again. The lady was trying to get me some answers and had to reopen the case, the adjuster closed it writing 5 minutes of reopening the case. The only answer I could get was the business doesnt want to give you the money back so your not getting it back. They wouldnt even try to give a way that this could be done, except not in our policy. Its not in a banks policy to accept US currency? So to deposit it, we have to go pay fees to get a money order. THIS IS THEFT!! I Filed a claim due to sever hail damage. They sent someone out to assess the damage. Within a few days, they sent me a settlement offer. I accepted it. Got a call about picking up my damaged vehicle, and had to schedule it hoping I would have my rental by then. I was told that as soon as they received my over-night FedEx envelope that contained my title, I would receive my settlement in my checking account within two days. They received it on Tuesday. I spoke to numerous employees on the phone, and every single one said I would receive the money by Friday the latest. I did not receive it this morning, so I called again. The associate confirmed I would receive it today and he could see it pending. After five in the afternoon, I have still not receive it. I called again, now, they are saying that all the other associates are wrong, and they ave no definitive day that I will receive the money. My rental is due back on Tuesday, I reminded him. What am I supposed to do without a vehicle, let alone the money to buy one?? He had no answers. I cant get to work or drive my children anywhere. I even read all the fine print and information stating when I would receive my money. I signed my title over to you, with the guarantee that I would receive the money promised in the settlement. This is theft!!

Where do I start? 1)Being threatened with legal action by the rental car company USAA partners with (Enterprise) since they dont communicate with each other. 2)Undervaluing the vehicle damage by more than $10,000. 3)Refusing to total the vehicle until the body shop proved the extent of damage far exceeded the value.4)Undervaluing the vehicle a 2nd time in the settlement amount. 5)Refusing to process my rebuttal of the settlement amount (dragging out the process for an additional 3 weeks). 6)Trying to process payment for the wrong amount after I reluctantly accepted the settlement offer (I literally had to argue with the agent over the phone to get him to recalculate the math and pay the the correct amount).For a company that is owned by its members and used to put service-members and their families first, I dont know what happened.

Waited 30 minutes, I ended up having to call the teller and asked for my items back because I couldn’t wait any longer. I needed to go back to work. I went to this location to try to speak to someone in person about banking, investing and other services I use with USAA. I have been a customer for years and used them exclusively because I was in the military. Now that I live in San Antonio I thought I could get the same quality customer service as I have online and over the phone.I was sadly disappointed that the first customer service representative I ran into seemed disinterested with me. It was obvious that his job is just a job and nothing more. I was told everything for investments is done over the phone or online and the only in-person services I could use were for banking. I didn’t want to speak to a teller, I wanted to speak to a financial advisor of some kind. Again, I wanted to speak with someone in person because I figured surely the bank location offers the same services they do online/over the phone. I was sadly disappointed to find out they are moving everything to online/over the phone instead of in person. If you are a long time customer like myself, don’t waste your time going to this location expecting the same level of service in person as you get over the phone/online. USAA is great for remote banking, disappointing face to face.Please USAA, don’t waste your time replying to this or apologizing. Just fix your face to face customer service. I’ve been with USAA for 15+ years and I’m grown disappointed over the last several years with their member services. It’s not the professionalism of the employees that’s made my experiences stressful, it’s the inter-departmental Bureaucratic jungle that Coorporate has created. I can’t ever call a representative without being transferred at least 2-3 times for one issue. There are countless departments and countless people I have to repeat myself too only to be transferred again to the same department I first began with. Most representatives that I talk too today have to provide several lengthy recorded messages in between the information they provide. I understand that it’s for legality purposes but the fact that you don’t have representatives that can adequately explain things without having 3-4 pre-recorded messages throughout a conversation does not make me feel particularly confident with this bank. Rarely do representatives ever answer my questions directly they always have to transfer me to some other department only to get caught up in this ping ball effect where Each department is hesitant to provide information so they just transfer back to another department. In the course of this highly ineffective process the calls end up disconnecting and you have to start all over again. For one simple issue you could spend between an hour to two hours on the phone between various representatives, until finally someone who actually knows how to do their job resolves your issue within 15-30 min. I don’t understand what has happened to USAA. They used to be so quick and efficient and the representatives were so much more knowledgeable. Now it seems that this bank isn’t any better than any other commercialized bank out there with mediocre services all claiming to deliver exceptional service. USAA has lost its exclusivity in the sense that it’s just become a headache like every other bank out there.

After 12 Years of banking with USAA I’m leaving, I lost my Job earlier this year due to COVID-19 because I’m a contractor. With no income in I over drew my accounts and this flagged me when I finally found work again and deposited several checks into my account again. With the flag I’m on restriction for Six Months and it’s hard to do anything with transfers. Basically I’ve tried everything to get this flag off because I’m basically being victimized for something nothing I’ve done wrong, 12 years of banking with them should at least show I’m not doing anything shady, it also shows that USAA has no customer service any longer. Im moving my accounts to Navy Federal and not looking back.

Now have frozen my account completely. There is a fraudulent scam where your computer screen is frozen with the warning ‘from USAA’ saying not to touch your computer or all of your data will be erased. It gives a number to call. I am a senior and no bank scam expert. I did what they told me to do and went to Safeway and bought $4,000 worth of gift cards while they stayed on the phone. Later I called USAA where they told me it was not them. USAA IS NOT PROTECTING ITS SENIORCLIENTS I now realize I was scammed but warn all other seniors to leave USAA IMMEDIATELY. I use Wells Fargo now which told me they knew of this scam and inform their clients immediately suspicious activity was happening so they can stop it in time. USAA is. Implicate with those scam artists and CANNOT BE TRUSTED.

If it was not such a problem closing all these accounts and opening new ones else where I would have done it years ago. I was told that this place could print my debit card or they could expedite my card for my new account. I rush here during traffic before they close to get it printed, and they tell me that they don’t have the capability to print cards. But they can expedite it if I go to another teller. I go to the other teller and she tells me that even that guy that works across the desk has misinformed me and they CANNOT expedite my card….this whole place just doesn’t seem to know their own policies. Day 1 and I’ll probably be shutting down my bank account with them

I have had USAA for 20 years and have ALWAYS had a great experience with them. I have had to use the claims department about 5-6 times on several different issues and have NEVER had any issues, until this year. I have several cars and a home under their insurance and I had to make a claim on a vehicle for hail damage. Ended up being a total loss. They are low balling how much my vehicle is worth. I cannot talk to MY adjuster. I have called and left messages on the claim section of the app multiple times without someone calling me back. Instead of giving me options they had a salvage company call to schedule my vehicle to be picked up. DONT USE USAA!!!

Disappointed in this entity....home insurance, car insurance, loans, and banking. Many years as a loyal customer and the past year this place has gone down hill fast. Last year my spouse had a car accident the claim turned into a mess and we got blamed for the entire accident which jacked my rates through the roof. This isnt just an insurance issue this is a law issue as well. We were well over 60 ft behind the cars in front of us. When there is a ten car pileup on the highway, even following at safe distances your chances of not being involved are slim. Since we were the last to make impact, USAA Claimed we were at fault, having to pay something to everyone involved. For the past 2 months every check I have deposited they have been putting on hold because they can I was told. The only way to alleviate it is to mail a check to San Antonio and pray it doesnt get lost or spend more money sending it certified mail. I was told by the banker to have my friend cash my checks and transfer them to USAA...of why cant I tell my employer they need to have direct deposit or the best yet..... maybe I should open a secondary banking account and transfer to USAA....Why should I have more than one account.....oh, because your not loyal to your customers. It is unbelievable to me how this bank has become. I am cutting ties with them and I suggest anyone looking for a bank....dont go here...Dont buy into their false advertisement that they will help you, because they will not you are just a # to them, just a way for them to make money. They dont care about you, they may act like it to suck you in, then they will leave you high and dry.

I tried to cash a check but the Usaa bank teller said they needed my ssn card. I have my Tx DL and Military ID but the rude teller said No. I’ve been a member of Usaa in the past but left them when their rates increased. Next time USAA may ask me for my dna. Poor customer service and they treated me like a felon. Not a good experience.

My auto insurance went up 800 dollars for the year. When I called to see why, I was told everyones went up in my area. I decided to shop around and I told other insurance companies I only had one claim, and my insurance bill dropped 400 dollars for the year. After a couple of days they came back with a different rate for full coverage which was only a little bit less then USAAs. When I questioned the other insurance companies about the change they said it was because I had 2 claims with USAA. When I called to contest this the girl on the phone said, theres no claims. So, I asked for the claims department and spoke with them, they said there was 2 claims. I did call about a crack in my windshield but I didnt pursue the claim because USAA wanted me to take it to there approved place and they wanted me to leave my car there all day. I asked that that second claim be removed since there werent out any money and USAA refused and stuck with there lie about rates going up in my area.The lesion here is, get insurance with USAA but never file a claim unless you want to be ripped off on charges

As a member of USAA for over 30 years, I have noticed a recent decline in its Customer Service. Perhaps this is due to the pandemic? In any case, wait times by either telephone or chat have required more time, and easily more than 5 minutes.In addition, their website used to enable customers/members to communicate by messages. This feature is now removed. This was useful when documenting a string of discussions on a specific topic. The Ask USAA auto chat feature is awful and only adds to ones frustrations with USAAs quality of service. Sending/Answering actual messages is far more helpful.These degradations in Customer Service, have reduced my impression of USAA to average. Once upon a time, I lauded the service at USAA and referred to it when others sought to compare their services with an excellent one.

I have banked with them since I was a teenager. I recently switched to them for auto insurance they gave me a quote for auto and home insurance and they seemed to be more responsible than other people so I went with then. Come to find out when my payment was due its 70 dollars more then the quote a month for auto insurance and 400 more on my home owners. They lie to you to get your business DO NOT GET INSURANCE WITH THEM!!! I tried to get clarification on what went wrong and they bounced me around for 2 hours saying they dont know thats just the price. Horrible customer service.

It is not convenient, the customer service is rarely helpful, and the customers needs are less important then the companys desires. Had an open house claim since June 22 & all of a sudden after trying to work c/ my adjuster who quit calling me back, I finally got ahold of a supervisor, Michelle Aguilar. We are still no farther on the claim. Now the construction co holding 2/3s of my household goods in storage demands me take my items. USAA has NOT RESPONDED TO ME IN OVER 2 MONTHS!!!! I was a loyal customer for 18 years, my accounts got scammed and after 18 years of being a loyal customer, they closed me out of my accounts and said I couldnt bank with USAA again, and waited until the cutoff date to change my Direct Deposit so I will be homeless come November 1st wit no transportation. I will never recommend anyone use this bank, because when you ask for a supervisor you have to wait 48 hours, hoping you will forget because more times then not theywill never return your call!

Cancelled my insurance policies once & for all with USAA. When the pandemic began, I needed & took the help they offered in putting a payment on back end. Worst move ever with USAA! About 2 months later & thereafter, the payments ballooned out of control & I wasnt able to afford it. And there was nothing they could explained as to why except how they helped me at the beginning of the pandemic. I cancelled my auto, renters & additional property insurance policies. I switched to Geico & much friendlier & way more affordable insurance policies than what USAA had gave or offered. My experience is not unique & highly common across a great number of veteran groups whove shared their bad experiences & cancelled their insurance policies and even went as far as just closing all accounts & jumping ship to other federal credit unions & banks all together. Living in San Antonio & going to the branch/lobby was a nice experience. Now theres only drive-thru available & its literally an 45 minute to almost a 90 minute nightmare waiting for service from a teller. Id rather go sit in traffic then sit at USAA drive-thru banking. I waited over an hour just to be the last of 6 cars only to be cut in line by the security guard allowing 3-4 other cars whod hadnt spend nearly as long as myself & the cars in front of me cut in line literally in front of me - adding insult to injury! If you have to go then I strongly advise that its literally your last stop of the day. Because by the time theyre finally able to get to you, businesses are closed & youll be hitting the second wave of 5/6pm traffic. Itll be an experience thatll have questioning whats the point of me & my money being here at USAA🤔❓⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️

USAA is a horrible bank to deal with now. I will be moving all of my accounts and insurance to another bank after the 1st of the year. I was ripped off for $7500 on my credit card and they have no interest in helping me. They keep saying it was because it was past 60 days. Their credit card reps told me they could still credit me the money but they are just choosing not to. There is no longer any benefits or reasons to stay with this bank. The insurance rates are now high, and they no longer have quality customer service. They care more about paying Rob Gronkowski to do commercials than to take care of their customers. Im completely disgusted by them now and dont recommend them to any veterans thinking about joining.

In Checking Account, I used to be able to easily and precisely track my transactions. I could create my own categories and sub-categories and put, for instance, each of the trades involved in our major remodel in their own areas for tracking my costs. I could keep track separately my bills for electricity, water, natural gas, etc. Now it is all lumbed together as Utilities. Plumbing was separate from electrical as was HVAC, insulation, painting, and finish work. Also worked like a charm through multiple remodels over the years. Right there, in my decades old USAA Checking Account - BUT NOW, since the accounts transaction categories are pre designed, and inflexible I can no longer do that. I have to go out and buy another program, like Project manager or QuickBooks for that. Taking away services to make USAA checking look just like the plain vanilla other banks was a stupefying event. I have little use for the current categories being jammed down my throat, and the absence of being able to create sub-categories. It was there! It worked! I banked there because it served my needs. NOW, it is not interested in any feedback I have given, and has removed capabilities I used. It isnt like I was asking for anything ADDITIONAL, I just wanted them to leave it alone. Instead they deleted ALL of my transaction history, and treat my like an idiot because I just wanted to keep what they originally sold me on using. But they still CLAIM to want our comments and recommendations. Dont you believe it! Cracks formed in our last mortgage there, and are now forming in our home and auto insurance policies. I wonder if my life policy is worth anything we can count on??? It is hard, this withdrawal from our beloved USAA, but we are working on it as are many others whom we used to discourage.

I called USAA because I dont have access to a brick and mortar location. The representative on the phone disabled my debit card at my request. Then told me they would send me another one. Fifteen days later I called and learned that they did not send me another debit card. I asked to speak to a manager and got transferred twice and spoke to 2 other people that were polite and apologized, but they were not managers. When I asked once more to speak to a manager they offered me a phone call 24 hours later from a manager. Today I received my phone call, but it was still not a manger. USAA lied to me. When i asked them to overnight a new card they told me they were incapable of overnighting a card, obviously a lie. They are a major financial institution and they cannot overnight a document. That was an obvious lie. So after phone calls spanning 2 days I am without a debit card to access my bank account now for 16 days. I have banked with USAA for 22 years. I will be opening up an account with a local bank and changing my direct deposit to that institution. USAA representatives lied to me at least 4, maybe 5 times across 4 phone calls in 2 days. Do not do business with them if you care about credibility, honesty, integrity, and access to your money. If I could leave a zero star or negative star review I would.

First let me say I love USAAs banking app and mission. The actual physical Bank is terrible. They open all the lines at the drive through but only have a 2-3 tellers working all 10 lines. The wait inside the lobby is just as bad. Luckily it is very rare for me to have to come in person. 99% of what I need I can do on the app. If you need in person interactions, this is NOT the bank for you.

Some blame it on Covid but that is the worst excuse Ive ever heard. Customer service is absolutely garbage with hour long hold times and get transferred to 6 different departments before reaching the correct one. Insurance side of the house is no better. I have had multiple claims with USAA and was not please at all after they held my vehicle for over a month to evaluate damage.

Where do I even begin...?First I was trying to get a cashiers check to take for the closing of our house. A specific timed appointment that day. I had to repeat the numbers 4 times before I was heard. And that was in-between being told numerous times that, its ok, if something isnt correct, it will only cost $20 to change it.Second I was not heard when going over details to get a home owners insurance quote. I kept telling the guy thats way too high, youre doing something wrong. He insisted it was correct. Every other company was telling me around $100 a month. USAA was quoting $400 a month. Several months later I was asked over the phone if I wanted to go over any previous quotes. I said last time I asked for a quote the guy did it wrong. The lady looked it over and confirmed it was not done correctly.Third I ordered checks through the bank because the automated system through the check company, would not accept my info. I was not listened to once again. The address on the checks was incorrect and I did not receive the carbon copy checks I ordered.Fourth I was not listened to again. I called the bank to fix the problem that they messed up. This time the checks were sent to the wrong address and the bank lady I ordered them through (yes, USAA not the check company) cancelled the tracking number used to track the checks when mailed.Fifth I called USAA again to figure out where my checks were, because I still hadnt received them and I was concerned they were stolen or lost. I was not told I could flag those lost checks. (I called the check company and they sorted everything out and told me I could have the bank flag those lost check numbers, so no one could use them.)Sixth I called the bank and asked them to flag those checks. I was put on hold. When the lady returned, she told me she cancelled the order. I told her I just fixed the order and reordered it DO NOT CANCEL MY ORDER!. As I started to explain, she cut me off and put me on hold again. Im assuming to go back and reverse the mistake she had just made as the result of NOT LISTENING. She came back and said she flagged the checks.Im absolutely fed up with these people. THEY DO NOT LISTEN. They have some serious problems. I dont understand how one company can have so many employees who literally do not listen to the customers.

Lines are long and it takes over an hour to get through their drive through. Open the bank lobby already! While most business are offering in person service with precautions, USAA refuses to treat their customers well, and insists on bad drive through service long after it was safe it enter buildings. This business is inconsiderate of the environment by having dozens of cars a day idling needlessly in their drive throughs, all because they dont want to pay janitors and tellers to staff the main lobby.

Dont ever only carry USAA cards. They might block you randomly even for transactions at places youve already purchased, and sometimes it will block all USAA cards instead of just the one, and then youre stuck unable to pay for gas or dinner on a trip. And as an added bonus, you get to wait until they come in the next morning for work--theres no 24 hour fraud unblock line, so then youre stuck. Always always carry a different card, and/or cash, USAA absolutely cannot be relied on. Ive been with them 28 years, but based on recent infuriating experiences, that will soon be changing.

Dont join this bank! Their service is worse than any bank Ive ever used. They lure in military and veterans with promises of treating them special and the best rates and prices. Then, once youve got everything going you realize there is only one place in San Antonio to do real banking. Every other location on the map is an ATM. Forget about cashier certified checks. You have to drive an hour and wait an hour. Corporate doesnt care as long as every employee gets a 20% plus bonus every year. That money is all the extra money they didnt use to make things manageable for the customer. It is overage charging and fees that we pay.

Used to be, you could deposit money and within minutes have access to those funds.Now if you deposit, the teller could put a temp hold on a deposit, which stops processing.So even if you deposit money, you could get a hold and not have funds available for 3 to 4 days, maybe.Chat support is useless.WHAT THE #*%& happened?Great way to lose a customer....

I always file my taxes early but I can’t this year because USAA hasn’t given me my 1099 for the months that they had my investment account last year. They keep saying that they’re waiting on the 3rd party that is supposed to be preparing the 1099’s for them. I just wish that USAA would stop spending all that money on commercials & hire some support staff! I opened an account with USAA years ago because I wanted to be able to transfer money from savings to my investment account. I rarely write a negative review... With that said.We had been with USAA for over 16 years. Found out recently we have been fleeced and taken advantage of for a long time for the profit of this monstrous institution. Our trust was betrayed in multiple ways recently. I understand that this was my fault, for not checking against competitive companies, but I trusted the relationship in that USAA would not intentionally fleece members for profits. As is I actively advise any service members to avoid USAA as they appeal to our service members through our values systems yet do not have the same. Examples: 1. Around seven months ago we used USAA for a mortgage on a new home, we didnt even look at a competitor as I was deployed and our family was busy (like most are) distance educating children. I found out this month that we were given a rate over 1% higher than the base rate that a competitor would have given us, we are now having to eat the cost of a refinance to not pay the additional $48,000 over the life of the loan to USAA, who knew we would just say yes to the loan because we trust them. 2. Also while deployed, my childrens UTMA accounts were transferred, without my Consent, to Charles Schwab. Schwab, it turns out, does not service the type of accounts my childrens money was in and when I returned home I found that their college money was just sitting in cash. It has taken me 8 total hours on the phone to just get my childrens money back from the company I never chose to do business with. USAA offered no assistance with this. 3. After these other issues I chose to check other insurance options in the area. Working now with multiple local agents to get quotes, no local agent could find prices as high as we were gladly paying to USAA for combined homeowners and auto, with all coverages exactly duplicated. There were more issues to discuss but not enough room. USAA was charging nearly 170% over what we are now paying. Buyer beware. I am posting this review as this company will exploit your trust and your service, obviously to make more money off the always loyal and faithful service members they care for.

Update: Sure enough, I just got a category assignment for two bill-payments of 2022 tax owed to two different states. Each posted to DIFFERENT USAA assigned categories. So, USAAs great new inflexible catgegories cannot be made to work even by USAA itself. If you have just had ALL of your checking transaction history deleted and a new limited set of unchangeable categories put in place for future checking transactions, then you have a USAA Federal Savings Bank Account. They did this to help us. Dont count on stability here for any of your financial management checking needs. The possibility that you forgot about writing that big check for the electrician, wont be reminded unless you have entered it manually. Used to be in scheduled transactions automatically so long as you used USAAs bill pay. Now it is on a separate page AND the possibility that you will bounce a check has just gone up astronomically... moving on.

Wow The google rating for the USAA bank is 2.6. That is terrible. USAA use to be a great company but is just a so so one now. A below average performance. They failed at mutual funds and brokerage services. They lost what the founding fathers envisioned. I do not think they will recover. They tried to be something they could not be. They went for big and huge. A big mistake. Oh well. All good things come to an end. Have your back up banks and insurance ready. Sad they do not conform to federal regulations. Got caught cheating their customers and paid millions in fines. What did they think was going to happen when they hire people that do not have formal education in banking. Go figure. I pulled into lane eight of the drive-through bank because USAA refuses to open its lobby. There were six cars in front of me and as I speak right now there are still two cars in front of me with each car taking on average 19 minutes to complete its transaction. You do the math on how long I’ve been sitting here. And since there are seven other drive-through lanes that all appear to be taking equally as long one Hass to ask them self what is the absolute hell is going on inside the building. Is there only one teller trying to manage all of these lanes. The lobby is still closed, even though their customer service says it isn’t. Averaging about 17 minutes per customer and the security guards allow random people (more than likely friends/family) to cut in front of you while you’ve already been waiting for over an hour. You’re not anywhere close to serving the military community. Your just another deadbeat financial institution saying one thing and doing another to the very people who risk their lives just to give you the right to treat us like peasants. Thanks again for wasting the last two hours of my life…..again. Enjoy another 1-Star rating. I am currently on military leave visting family here in the San Antonio area and decided to visit the lobby today and noticed it does not have any United States Marine Corps posters or pictures. Do not bank with USAA if you are being station overseas. I placed a travel notification with USAA and they still blocked my card once I made a charge in Germany. Trying to resolve the block on the app is impossible, and Jesse (Q7412) would not help me via the in-app chat. He told me to Keep it professional. Needless to say, I went off on him. I will not be disrespected from a bank that I can easily replace.I called USAA and when talking to the representative, they told I could have taken care of the block through the in-app chat. If Jesse is the future of USAA, I will find a better bank elsewhere. Shoot, even with the scandals, Wells Fargo would be a better alternative than USAA.

Open the lobby already. They wouldnt complete my transaction without driving around multiple times. Then they gave me ripped bulls they wouldnt replaced unless I drove around again. All banks are back open and have been for months, why is the lobby still closed. It is harder and harder to do business with USAA. Another incident 1.24.23My savings got hacked and 4k was wired out a week ago. There was a ton of other suspicious activity that went on before that on the same day you would think they would lock out my account but no. I watched helplessly as theives wired out 4k and usaa did nothing to stop it and its a week later and still no update and no refund. Adding insult to injury, when I called they told me if this happens again, they will revoke my membership! Wow. Stay away from this bank. Your money is safer under the mattress.Prior incident:Went down hill. Ive been a member for 15 years and its been great until now. I cant even begin to describe the incompetence. It took hours and days of phone calls to fix everything. It was a complete financial disaster that they caused me for a week that felt like it was never going to end. This Bank used to be stellar. However in the past two years they have gotten increasingly worse in many areas. For example: they are no longer capable of posting transactions to your account in a timely manner. Its a regular occurrence for me to write a check and it not come out of my account for two full weeks. Other times it takes them a week to post debit card transactions. Then when your account goes over draft because they take two weeks worth of transactions out in one second they put your funds on hold when you deposit them. This creates more over draft charges. Its an endless cycle that I assume they modeled after Wells Fargo.

My account has been locked for over 6 months despite providing all of the documentation needed to resolve the issue. I continue to be charged for vehicle insurance that is unusable because USAA will not communicate with the state that I have said insurance. Ive spent over 10 hours on the phone trying to resolve this issue with no luck yet. Up until this issue service/value has been great, but its useless at present. I feel like the only recourse left is filing a fraud claim with the Texas Department of Insurance.

75 minutes in the drive-thru teller line only to be told they can’t help me. And that 75 minutes? There were only 5 cars ahead of me. The first car was 25 minutes solid. Once a car got behind me, I was stuck no matter how bad I wanted out of the line. Shockingly, the lines moved faster once the branch closed for lunch... Also, did you know that 95% of all savings bonds can be deposited at your local bank branch? Can you guess which bank is the other 5%?

If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to enter the USA from the border go here. I disagree with lady said reduce ATMs to have more tellers. There’s not enough tellers inside. Better if USAA made it clear to withdrawal people can increase their atm limit online and get from ATM. let those of us who unfortunately just need a cashiers check go to tellers. Once I was with the teller took maybe 5 min. Don’t know why everyone ahead of me took 15 min each. Thankfully I rarely ever have to go to the bank. I’m educated in cyber enough to know depositing any checks via my phone is as safe as using a teller.

I used to not have any problems with USAA but their agents on the phone have gotten less professional. I also found out that I was getting overcharged for car insurance even though I have a degree and a good driving record and have since switched to a better company for car insurance company that is treating me way better.

UPDATE from a 33 year member: USAA has really lost all sense of customer service.They are officially one of those BANKS that refuses to accept coins. No free coin counter and they do not provide coin rolls because they no longer accept coins.They no longer accept US currency in the form of coins as of June 21st 2022. They actually got worse. Been in drive thru for an hour and counting...I deposit for my 20 year old daughter in the restaurant service industry because it isnt safe for her to have thousands of dollars in cash accumulated monthly because drive thru doesnt suit her reality (operating hours and wait) and ATM requires perfect bills. I will be moving daily banking needs to RBFCU today. I went to RBFCU with a friend to get notary service and theyre not having this problem. This is ridiculous with zero improvement going over a year. BTW, it took 1 hour and 14 minutes awaiting my turn and 12 minutes for the transaction by a kind and courteous teller. The 1-star is purely for the wait time.Almost a year ago: Open the lobby and allow members to bank in person or fix the drive thru! The drive thru lines are an hour plus wait. This is not the customer service we are accustomed to. We are members for the in person experience. If we want virtual only, we can get that from online only banks and get better high yield savings and money market rates.

Its difficult to criticize USAA, since as Banks go theyre about the only institution left that still holds to a few principles. Problems have been relatively few and minor since I switched to them over a decade ago. Customer service, however, has gone to hell in the past few years as theyve phased out all forms of support outside of the phone tree and a FAQ that masquerades as a chat interface, like all the corporations do these days. Frankly I wish the competition were less barbaric so that USAA hadnt outgrown the need to care about maintaining positive customer relations.Even if you manage to reach a live support representative, they have no information. Last night I received an email informing me that USAA had reason to believe that my debit information, may have been obtained by unauthorized individuals through non-USAA systems and thus they were issuing a new card. Yet when I finally spoke with a human being, she could shed no further light on the issue. You would think that if a service I patronized is not going to inform me directly that they had experienced a security breach, then USAA would at least do me the honor of identifying the business, themselves, so that I could take the necessary actions to better protect myself. I have been a fan until recently. Have had their car insurance for over 10 years, always pay premiums on time. This last year have had a few not a fault incidents, every single time, I was sitting still when someone hit me, nothing major, just a nuissance. I live in a busy vacation destination in FL, so there is a lot of traffic.They sent me a letter dropping me a cited 3 incidents that were listed as not at fault. I get that its a numbers game for the underwriters, so I tried to call the number and extension provided over 200 times over the last 4 weeks, and at this point, I don’t think this person exists, so I have to give up. The drive thru teller lines are ridiculously slow. I spent 28 minutes in line and there was only 1 car in front of me. And the lobby is closed. Most other banks are opened in the lobby. The average wait time per car is 14 minutes 38 seconds. I calculated this based on 4 cars in front of me and took the average time spent with teller. They have seen me through deployments, auto insurance claims, home owner claim, provided investment advice, helped with notary service, transferred funds internationally, all without issue or problem. I see the negative reviews from people who have been with them for many years, there is one problem then all of a sudden USAA is a terrible bank. There is NO better bank if you are deployed.

They say 97% of their customers are customers for life, the other 3% have tried to get a cashiers check from them. I spent over 3 hours on the phone trying to get 4 checks sent for a boat purchase and failed to get them all sent. Half of the agents had no idea how to process the checks which requires an automated verification which sent me to a survey instead or to a recorded technical difficulty line. I’ve been a member for 30 years and today is the last day I’ll ever deal with this so called bank again. Put your money and trust somewhere else!

The worst banking experience in my entire 61 years. It took at least 2 weeks to open an account due to multiple errors and trying to get my son added as a POD. A combination of poor technical implementation, poor banking procedures, and employees unaware of their own processes. After a few weeks it was finally somewhat settled but I still could not visually verify the proper spelling of my sons name for legal purposes through the website...the answer was basically trust us it is fine, and recorded in our internal system. On top of that, multiple forms were sent to be signed and resigned without any instructions which required multiple other phone calls. BTW, in the middle of all this they suggested I was doing something FRAUDulent and locked me out of the website and transferred me to the fraud department because my son and I have the same name while going through their account creation process!! After all this I was hesitant to transfer money into the account, so I decided to wait awhile. I was told it would remain open for a year with a zero balance while I decided. Well they closed it after a couple of months without notice. THE WORST EXPERIENCE with a bank EVER. The only company I spent more time on the phone with is AT&T which retains the number 1 spot for poor customer service for all companies.

Received 2 NSF fees because 2 charges went through 3-4 days late due to the 4th of July holiday. Was not aware the bills paid would go through on a later date and thought they had already been deducted. Called Usaa to explain the situation and they could not reverse the charges. If the bills went through on their typical date, the money would have been there. Paycheck went into the account literally the next day after the attempted withdawal. We were supposed to have overdraft protection, but they told us we didn’t. We used to so not sure how we don’t anymore. Sounds like they are in business to make poor people more poor. This Bank IS NOT your friend, they are farming you for dollars.Besides you can get a replacment Debit card at nearly any bank or Credit Union EXCEPT USAA not only are there no branches open, you have to wait for the snail mail to get a new card. Ive been a member with USAA for almost my entire life. I am constantly telling people about how great they are, and if they are eligible they should switch everything to USAA. Ive had all my banking, car insurance, renters insurance, loans, etc with USAA, but not anymore.In the past 5 years we have had 3 minor claims on our car insurance, and 2 minor claims on our renters insurance. The car incidents were not our fault, and the renters insurance claims were both under $1000.In the last year, USAA raised my car insurance an additional $300 a month, and my renters insurance went from $40 a month to $355!! I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, why the hell would I need to pay $355 a month to insure it?Use USAA for the free banking, but stay FAR away from everything else. They promise to take care of their members, but instead they punish you with insane price hikes if you even think about making a claim.

Ive been banking with USAA since 1987 and have up until recently been very pleased. However, since 2020 the quality of service has become alarmingly poor. In December 2021 my checking account was frozen by their fraud department for no apparent reason and I WAS NOT NOTIFIED IN ANY WAY. I only became aware of it when checks began to bounce and the result was numerous returned checks, autopays, billpays, etc. which caused me major headaches. When I made the discovery I tried to call in but the WAIT TIME WAS 3 HOURS! Huh? When I finally got through, they were apologetic but offered no explanations or relief. While talking to the rep I could hear kids screaming in the background. Has it really come to this? My account was unfrozen but the damage had been done. I spent the next few days trying to repair all of the wreckage. What a shame - oh how the mighty have fallen.

I really used to love USAA, but simple tasks shouldnt happen like this and if they do there should be an easy answer to fix.Dear USAA, I am a long time member and also work in banking and technology and the website and support has significantly declined over the last 3 years. I had to call in to USAA multiple time and spoke to at least 6 different agents in order to fix my problem.My problem was with Web Bill Pay and changing the account to draw my external payees from. Even though the account was listed it would not allow me to change this. I was able to finally figure out by checking and unchecking some stuff though manage your USAA accounts. Basically a work around. The final agent I was on the phone with was very happy I figured it out and closed my request. This is a deficiency in your website.I next asked to file a formal complaint and was directed to a secure messaging site where the option to file a complaint related to banking is not available. A search of your website shows no way to file a complaint.According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA) banks must create a complaint system. More specifically The customer complaint system can take many forms, but it should provide a clear and simple way for customers to reach the company and for complaints to be heard, tracked and resolved. USAA is in direct violation with this.I have always considered USAA to be world class in support and technology, but no longer. Since USAA is a digital bank, I need to be able to perform basic transactions without having to call in. I would expect to be notified on how this will be addressed or I will escalate this to the OCC.

After 4 years I will be taking my accounts elsewhere.For the majority of us, the only difference we will notice bank to bank is customer service. The service at USAA is nonsensical, convoluted, and tiresome. Might as well go elsewhereTwo separate times I have had my card canceled for suspicious activity based on geography. I was less than 5 hours from my home both times, simply taking a weekend trip. I shouldnt have to call ahead and let my bank know Ill be traveling within state lines to avoid having my card canceled. Without even a courtesy call, I received no call asking hey is this you? just up and canceled my card. What if that was my only access to my finances? They would have left me stranded hours from home with no way to get a hotel room or a bus ticket or anything. What if I was stranded 5 hours from home, couldnt make work the next day and got fired?The worst part of their support is when you actually need to speak to them. First, you cant even get their phone number from their own app without going through two levels of menu. (Menu>Contact us>View general numbers why not just list your phone number under contact us, like normal people?) Calling in puts you through a long convoluted electronic menu and I end up just yelling AGENT at their prompts until it passes me to someone. Heres where it gets bad. This first person will ask you a lot of questions, youll have to verify your name, address, email, phone number, and then describe your problem. But this wont be who you need to talk to, the first person can NEVER help you. 0% of the time, without exaggeration. Theyll get all your info, pass you along. Not that bad, except THEY DO ZERO INTERNAL COMMUNICATION. They dont talk to each other or communicate, you know, like colleagues who work together do. So you get to this second person and now you have to say your name, address, email, and phone number all over again. And now describe your issue again. Getting worse here, 66% of the time this second person will not be the person to help you either. Theyll ask you a bunch of questions and youll talk about your problem for a while and feel like youre getting somewhere.....sorry sir this isnt the right department Im going to have to transfer you I told you my problem at the very beginning? Why did we just talk for 10 minutes about my issue, with you knowing my issue, only for you to tell me you cant help on my issue? So they transfer you again. AND NOW YOURE STUCK TELLING A THIRD PERSON THE ANSWERS THAT YOUVE ALREADY GIVEN THEM TWICE why cant you guys make notes or if youre transferring then speak to the other person first and tell them Im already verified, make a note on my account what my issue is, or just idk send me to the correct person?The people who work there are incredibly nice but either USAA exclusively hires people with small amounts of common sense or they instruct them in how to be dumb. Fraud department is a joke!!! Someone hacked my online account. They made use of the deposit a home feature, depositing the check, then sending to a non Usaa account. This shows on my usaa online. This started November SECOND. It is now November TWELVE!!!! and STILL no resolution. Every time I call I get the run around. Called today and was told I was NOT allowed to speak with a supervisor cause they only do coaching and training!!! I worked for Usaa in the past, they sure have gone down hill. My bills are late, I have over draft fees AND not to mention fees with the bills that tried to come out that was rejected!! The rep today said it doesnt take this long for the review to be completed, so what is the issue?!?! This is ridiculous. TOTAL FRAUDS... USAA froze my account for 6 months. Im deployed and cannot transfer funds to my kids. Their fraud department lied that I had a fraudulent check deposited and did not bother to find out the facts with the issuing bank. The Facts are, the IRS took back the funds because the routing number was incorrect. So by the time the tax preparer sent a cashier check to me directly the IRS had already withdrew the money.USAA LIED AND CLAIM the bank said it was a fraudulent check. I spoke to both the IRS and the issuing bank, they both refute that claim. After several attempts to contact someone at USAA to complain, I was hung up on several times, them told that I have to figure out an alternate way to transfer those funds. TO COORPORATE USAA, Thanks for the Non support of your corporation and all of your managers that are covering up their incompetence.By the way, I was a Commander for fraud investigations. I would give it a zero. This is unacceptable. I waited for an hour and a half in the teller drive in lane. There were five lanes open and no more then four cars in each. If there is only one teller for all those lanes then USAA needs to revisit their priorities to their customers. Ive been a member for over 25 years. for the most part I would give them five stars, plenty of issues over the years with phone calls that were resolved with respect and care. Im only giving four stars however because for the first time I created an investment account, and after transferring money into it and setting it up, there was a notice on the web page that it was going to be transferred to Charles Schwab this year. This should have been disclosed before I created the account not afterwards. I dont feel like this reflects upon USAA as a whole but just the investment business department, but I do feel that was the first time I had a seed of doubt about the integrity of USAA.I still trust them a lot for their other products / lines of business, but will definitely not consider them for investments anymore.

Everyone was incredibly helpful and well versed in how to assist me in what I considered a complicated process. While I doubt I’ll need to go back in the future. They took a CASHIERS CHECK (Guaranteed form of payment) and Choose to place my funds in hold NOT IMMEDIATELY But the day after the deposit. AFTER I had already been told by 2 separate employees then funds were available as USAA would have placed a hold on the check the same day rather if it was going to be held! Well obviously the lied. They the ended up placing my account in the negative AND CAUSED MY HOUSE PAYMENT AND OTHER BILLS TO BOUNCE. Then find out it was not only 1 hold but 2 so THEY could release my OWN money back to me in INCREMENTS! Even though this check was a long overdue expected payment I had been battling for 3 years yo get after I was scammed by a bad contractor! I made the mistake of using this company for my insurance. After switching to a different insurance company, my ex husband decided he wanted to use them, even after I warned him not to. He ended up not paying his bill & now they are harassing me for it. I have also repeatedly tried to end my so-called membership with them & was told I couldnt as Im automatically a member due to being in the military. On what planet is this how business is done? The government just hands some random company my info & I have no say? These people are worse than timeshares. They truly are a hemorrhoid you cant get rid of. Maybe if enough of us complain to the attorney general, we can get them run out of Texas.

Zero stars for me, a member since 1990. USAA I hope you start to pay attention to these remarks. Service is steadily declining. I have been trying to get some very important forms signed for 3 months to no avail. I am going to start to transfer over to another credit union.

They put a levy on my account on Tuesday (12/8) due to a misunderstanding with Texas Comptroller. Took them an hour to freeze all of my money (while I’m visiting a friend 3 states away without any way to get gas or food etc) when the state sent them a fax telling them the issue was resolved USAA said they never received the fax. After talking to 9 different reps (and one rude rep that decided to argue with me instead of help) they miraculously found the fax. Then I’m told it takes up to 5 days to remove the levy on my account. But the 5 days starts on Monday (12/14) because it was Friday and nobody was there to review my account. So now I will be waiting for almost 2 weeks to have access to my funds. The state warned me that banks typically charge interest and fees to your account the longer there’s a levy held against it. So I guess keeping my account froze and leaving me stuck in another state before Christmas is worth a few extra bucks to the bank. Well definitely be switching.

My husband and I have been a members for about 30yr. Banking, insurance etc. Usaa banking cant be beat in our book and we do have accounts at other banks.... Not all by choice. Usaa catches all fraudulent activity trying to hit the accounts, their online and apps are so good we are never in the drive thru lines and Im maybe inside the bank 4x a year. If I call any dept they are friendly, courteous, and fix the issue. They have even stayed with me on the phone to make sure I found what I needed on the app or webpage and the roadside assistance didnt hang up from me till they were sure I was ok, safe, etc. Insurance claims, I say usaa and there is no disputes!All my kids know.... in life, there is one thing you dont give up, and that is USAA!!!

We switched our accounts over from NFCU about 9 years ago and 2 yrs ago we created a youth account for our daughter who had her first job.We didnt know that at 18 she would have to have a state issued ID to keep the account open and proof of a utility bill in her name. What 18 yr old that is fresh out of high school has a bill in their name? We made an appt for an ID and that was in August and we cant get in with an appt until Dec.They have frozen her accounts and we cant even pull her money out or transfer it to our accounts even though they will be closing the account in 4 days.Funny how its a military financial institution but wont accept a military ID as proof of who she is.We walked into NFCU and opened her checking and savings the same day. BUT went to USAA and waited 1 hour to be told they wont close the account and cut her a check until they close the account out on their own. Its HER money but she cant even access it.We are moving all of our accounts from USAA back to NFCU that has been our main bank for 25 yrs.Such a disappointment....GRONK...you dont want to bank at USAA...they will keep your money and wont let you have it.

One branch in San Antonio is no longer feasible during COVID. I waited two hours in the drive through only to be told I couldn’t have my own money because their computer wasn’t working. Totally unacceptable.Second time I visited the branch and the wait is 10 cars deep in all ten lanes. Looks like another two hour wait to get my own money.

Do not bank with them, they allowed a family members info to get leaked and someone impersonating their bank stole all the money out of his account and they never did a report or tried to fix it!! Hes a vet and has had his info stole 4 times and they do nothing to help him!!!!!!!!😡😡😡😡

So sad after 39 years, we will be leaving USAA Federal Savings Bank. Our mother passed with a will and trust (death certificate and paperwork filed 3 months ago) and it has been a nightmare for her 4 children to receive her money from her mutual funds and banking accounts. All four of us are educated persons (lawyer, computer programmer, speech pathologist, salesman) and all four of us have received different explanations and routes to obtain this money- we havent even been able to pay for her funeral- LEAVE- it is not the company it once was and it feels like the whole focus has been to hang on to her money as long as possible to gain as much benefit from it.

Been a member for 22 years. I need a signature guarantee from USAA, which you can only get through your financial institution. It clearly states that USAA does these on their website. I have called this bank numerous times, but they are closed due to CoVid. I have been on the phone for hours with agents. A representative from the CEOs office called me and said they were looking into this for me. That was over a week ago, never heard back. Emailed the VP of client relations. Nothing. I’m so frustrated and disappointed. Have even emailed the CEO, heard nothing back. How are you supposed to get anything done when not a single person who works from the bank can help you. Stay away from USAA.

USAA is just about the worst bank I have ever encountered. In no world is waiting in line over 2 hours, trapped in line over 2 hours, even remotely acceptable. I will be moving accounts shortly. I am mind boggled that this bank manages to stay in business operating like this.
