I strongly advise against renting from Mainstreet Renewal My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare due to hazardous and neglected conditions in the property I rented.From day one, there was mold in the vents, posing a serious health risk to my family—especially my son, who has asthma. Despite repeated requests, the mold issues have never been fully addressed, and it’s clear the property has major moisture and ventilation problems. Plumbing issues were constant, causing inconvenience and further concerns about the building’s upkeep.The tipping point came when the ceiling actually caved in, caused by a raccoon that fell through, revealing mold within the walls. This was terrifying and raised obvious questions about the structural integrity of the home.It’s clear this company does not prioritize tenant safety or proper maintenance. Think twice before renting from them the health and safety risks simply aren’t worth it.

Rick has come to our rental home twice to do maintenance work (one on AC, the other on our garbage disposal) and did a great job on helping us with both of our issues! He was kind and informative and let us know all about what the issue was and how he was going to fix it. He was in and out with both fixes in less than 10 minutes!!! Highly recommend Rick for all your maintenance needs.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY, YOUR LIVES MAY BE IN ACTUAL DANGER!!My husband and I moved in one of their properties with our 3 children and it has been nothing but problems since we moved in. Our recent problem is an extremely dangerous situation, we have multiple trees on the property and there are a lot that are dead. The one that’s a problem is a huge tree in our backyard that has a 2,000+ lb limb hanging over the rooms our children sleep in and would fall into our neighbors yard as well. In February a 200+ pounds limb fell while our kids were in the backyard playing and almost hit them. We called to have to tree taken care of right after that limb fell and it has NOT been taken care of. We have had 7-8 different vendors out and they have either been denied or did not have the right equipment to get the limb cut. They have a clause when the vendors come, if you are not home you have to pay 100$ yet, they send vendors with no warning they are coming. They should be deducting from rent for all the times we have had vendors show up without a notice of arrival. We are now 3 months past the first call, not only is the extremely dangerous limb not taken care of, but nobody has come to dispose of the fallen tree limb either. Our work order in the app says completed but nobody has been out to take care of any of it. The maintenance men that come to the house are awesome but customer service over the phone and from the big wigs sitting in their office twiddling their thumbs making money, it is completely horrible. They have no concern for the safety of their residents or the neighboring properties that may be hurt because of their negligence. We’ve already been in contact with an attorney and will be taking action if need be. We have documentation of everything (dates, phone calls, vendors who have come out, emails, photos) and will use it if need be. This has gone too far, endangering my husband and I is one thing but with 3 children under 9 sleeping in a room underneath an almost 2,000-pound dead tree limb is taking our disappointment and fear of living here to the next level. If we could give negative stars we would!

Incredibly predatory leasing company. Maintenance orders will go unresolved--No matter if it is urgent. Ive been dealing with a complete sewage backup since 6/8/24. Today is 6/14/24. They are finally starting repairs; however, repairs START (not finish) on 6/17/24. That is 9 days without any drainage for the home. Sewage will backup into the showers. Texas law mandates that landlords remedy repairs that affect the health or safety of its tenants within around 7 days. Main Street Renewal fails to stay true to their word of trying to resolve urgent repairs between 48-72 hours. I highly recommend avoiding Main Street Renewal like the plague.

Avoid this company, tenant support is outsourced through a horrible support portal where you get scripted responses non-stop. (Not even sure its not just some horrible programmed AI half the time) When you finally do get a real human theyre clueless and take weeks to get proper support.Lived in their property for almost 4 years rent on average increased $150-200 each renewal.When your lease finally comes to an end theyll accidentally forward your security deposit to the wrong address and youll wait months of arguing with customer support only to have to take them to court to get any possible resolution.This place might as well be a scam save yourself the headaches. Look around other review websites, just do a simple google search. Any positive review should be treated like a bot.

Update maintenance workers are GREAT everyone else is aggravating. I love the workers, but I’m really confused on what their process is here. After having to resubmit the orders, a guy came out and told us that even though our water gets cold often and the pressure constantly slows nothing is wrong, he then told us that even though we were told a vendor would fix the floor in the kitchen that they were not going to do it because it was a cosmetic issue.We submitted a maintenance request back in August. A vendor came out after the maintenance dude and then we literally haven’t heard from anyone since. I have emailed. I have tried to call and been left on hold . I have created work orders and notes and I can’t get a hold of anyone. When I finally was able to get a hold Of somebody I was informed that both my work orders were marked as complete when they in fact were not! I’m tired of dealing with This bullshit. When our stove had a gas leak, they honestly expected us to be without a stove for weeks. We had to call and complain and it’s still took a week and a half for them to get the vendors to put us on schedule. Not satisfied so far. We haven’t lived here a month and the appliances are breaking. We’ve been without hot water or gas for a few days. There’s no way to submit an emergency request for maintenance. The poor maintenance man is trying his best to keep up.

The physical office looks closed from the front entrance ( lights off, boxes and random things in front room). When we went to the office across to ask if they see people going and coming, they said that the people stay in the back rooms and to knock on the doors around the corner. The unprofessionalism of this company is an outrage. After 3 days of trying to get this company to have a biohazard cleaning crew come to my house, they have had zero progress leaving me to live in my house with a crime scene. The phone number of the office is not to the physical office but instead, to random people around the country. It is unbelievably disappointing my experience with this company. Do not rent through Mainstreet Renewal.

Rick was amazing. Quick efficient and respected my time since I work from home. He went above and beyond in helping us out with the issues we’ve had since the day we signed the lease, we brought stuff up then and were told it would be taken care of, it wasn’t. That was two weeks before we moved in. Thank you Rick for knocking our needs and requests out of the park.

This company tries so hard to not employ people for customer service they make it insufferable for their residents. You have to pay your rent using the app yet the app has all kinds of technical issues. Good luck getting someone on the phone to help. And I am actually TRYING TO PAY MY FCKN RENT. If you can avoid renting from this company please do. I get cutting cost but you cant cut cost to the point where it is now a struggle for your renters to actually PAY YOU. What a pain in the ass.

Main Street Renewal seems to be a giant company with no one who actually has real authority when you call customer support.I actually have been very happy with the maintenance. They respond quickly and do good work.The problem I had was I had my own renters insurance, but because of a minor wording technicality they forced me into their own renters insurance policy. I have fixed the technicality and they are charging me an additional month before stopping charging me, and won’t even entertain the idea of reimbursing me for the previous charges. Additionally, I did not try to pay the renters insurance non-compliance fee, but when my auto payment for rent went through, it used that money to pay the renters insurance non-compliance which then showed me delinquent on my rent. Basically it used my money that I was intending for rent for something I never authorized them to charge me.I’ve rented from actual people who own their home, and they understand technicalities like this and will maybe just call or text you to fix the technicality. But Main Street Renewal is a large corporation who doesn’t care about technicalities or people and just wants to make money. Their customers service is very friendly, but they don’t have any power or authority to fix any problems, they can only route your issue up to their supervisor. It’s no fault of the actual customer service reps, just the system that a few rich guys on top are greatly benefiting from.

Living in San Antonio, Tx all of my life, you never get use to the HEAT. Our A/C unit started going out on Friday. We put a work order in late Friday night. We got a response they would be here Monday to repair it. The service rep, Rick was totally AWESOME!!! He really went above and beyond what we expected. It’s like we won the TEXAS Lottery with him. Now if only we can request him for every service call…. His professionalism and positive attitude are truly his greatest assets. Not only did he help us with the problem we called about but he also helped us set up work orders for other problems we had with the house.

How is this company still running? They played me for a several homes I applied for last year. Due to having a housing voucher. Whoever owns it will lose it all within the next few years. You reap what you sow because till this day they are STILL getting horrible reviews. That’s crazy but there are people like me who care and love seeing my clients/customers happy. I have been with MSR for about 3 years and the only reason I stay is because Jake from Maintenance has been able to assist me with all maintenance requests that I have had to submit. He gets requests submitted and completed efficiently and in a timely manner. Unfortunately I may not say the same about the out of state call center, that tend to think that if they submit a requests that they might need to pay it our of their pockets. The leasing department is absolutely great and as well as Jake but the call center team, Lets just say that they arent really needed at all.

Completely unethical company. I understand being in the business of making money, but when you do that in such an unethical way, its only a matter of time before the lawsuits start. The extra charges, the lies about what they will do. Their maintenance team has been decent... once you can actually get them to the house.If you have the opportunity to go elsewhere, do it.

Terrible from the start. There is no local office to work with, its all a call center. we were promised a sparkle clean upon move in. NOTHING is clean and there are roaches, dead and alive, bug droppings, eggs, and spider webs everywhere. We had to come OUT OF POCKET to have the home cleaned.

*SCAM* BEWARE!!! I applied and put my husband as a coapplicant and and when he clicked the invitation link, it told him to CREATE a log in, which he did. Then it asked if he was going to live alone and he put me as a coapplicant but the system wouldn’t take my email stating that email was in use. Now the application says incomplete. We called and after a 45 min hold, were told I need to make and PAY for another application with the other email address he had to add. No sir, No thank you!!!

Update (7/31/2021): Where to begin... unfortunately, we are obviously not the only folks to have had a terrible experience with this company. The home itself was poorly prepared for us to move in. As a few examples: paint peeled off doors and trim if you looked at it wrong, 2 door knobs literally fell of when used normally, a floor transition trim piece pulled up freely, and (most importantly/concerning) they had removed the deck from the fenced in backyard and we found numerous pieces of sharp, rusty metal (nails, bolts, chicken wire, rebar, etc.)...in an area that should be safe for our children and pets to run and play. Maintenance work was slow when needed. Customer service is abysmal...it takes forever to get somebody on the phone, and then they transfer you to multiple different people or departments (despite having already slogged thru extensive automated prompts). Our most frustrating experience spanned several months. In September, a technician came out to fix the dishwasher because it wasnt draining properly. While he was there, I casually mentioned that I needed to get a 2nd garage door remote. [Thats right: the house has a 2-car garage, and yet we were told that MSRs policy is to provide only one remote. Our sales rep/agent helpfully told us that we could buy spare/extra remote(s) at Home Depot or Lowes for $10-20.] When I mentioned to the technician that I planned to purchase one, he volunteered that he had an extra one in his van and would be happy to give it to me if I wanted it. I was initially touched by his generosity, gratefully accepted, and even gave him a 5-star survey response/review (see below). 2 months later, there was a $100 charge on our account, so I called to inquire what it was for. I spoke with no less than 7 people over the course of the next 3-4 months, and was ultimately told that the charge was part of my lease agreement. So something their sales agent told us costs $10-20 and their maintenance worker offered to give to me (I did not ask him for it), we were charged $100 for. Having had the experience we had and now reading about so many other negative experiences, I sincerely dont understand how this company continues to do business. Do NOT discount or overlook these 1-star reviews! If you are considering renting a property from Main Street Renewal. Would give zero stars if I could. While there is a long list for my zero stars the biggest issue that CPS cant turn on our gas for hot water because the valve is leaking gas, along with other spots in the line. We cant get a maintenance tech or even and office person to call us back or say they will fix it. We have to call 911 for a report that CPS has already issued before someone will come out or wait 7 to 10 business days. Not sure how their property (which obviously wasnt made ready) being at a fire/explosion risk can be so easily ignored but it should tell you everything you need to know about his company if this is how they protect their passive income investments.Edit for the owners response: how many pending work orders for a gas leak do you have for San Antonio? Why would I contact you via email when Ive been calling for days with a run around. Hire a real maintenance staff to handle your work orders and call me back!!

Not even one star deserved!!!Words can not explain my experience with this company. Nothing but dissatisfaction, frustration, lack of communication and the local San Antonio staff have been unavailable for 5 days already.A simple email or phone call would be helpful but instead you just repeat yourself to multiple customer service reps and that’s that’s it.Make a complaint to them and they send it to the same individuals you are complaining about.I have lost money planning my move for yesterday because I have not moved! Took off work, money spent on U-Haul, deposit has already been paid and now having to pay a prorated rent at the property I’m supposed to out of.This is ridiculous, when will someone step up and take action to make things right?This is supposed to be a nation wide company and they say there isn’t a manager of the local branch other that Monica.After you receive a bad review you respond with escalating concerns to the management teams 🤔 provide us with a better solution as it seems the call center has mis information. Every time I call and ask someone to speak with someone in a higher level to address my questions and concerns I’ve been told it’s Monica.If your local team is not available at least have someone else follow up or have the curtesy to let your residents know they will be unavailable for a week!

We have lived in our rental for about 3 months. So far weve been happy with the home and the service. Submitting maintenance requests is easy and the response time is quick. We recently had a request for repair to an electrical outlet and Jake came out to fix it. He was extremely helpful and even followed up with another water concern I mentioned while he was here. Jake even took the time to check in with me on the weekend to make sure that SAWS was resolving the issue we were experiencing and assured me he would communicate the findings with Mainstreet Renewal management. I am impressed with the service thus far and look forward to working with them in the future.

Rick did an amazing job! He was able to fix things and explain things I had no idea about. Example: How to find key to house and install a chain for the front door. He also identified that there is no return vent to the main portion of the house. The vent pulls air from the garage (so hot air and car gas fumes) are coming directly into the house.

I have a newborn and a wife. 3 weeks after my son was born my AC went out. And in Texas it’s very very hot and my house started to heat up which was dangerous for my son. After calling MSR I was promised to receive same day maintenance 3x on 3 different days and I received no helped. After learning I was going to have to go weeks without AC, MSR did not provide any help until they gave us a window unit after 2 weeks and had to make a purchase for one. During those 2 weeks I had to vacate my house for the safety of my family. 22 days my house didn’t have functioning AC, after the fixture I requested a credit refund for the days I had to vacate my house. And they only gave me one days worth . They have terrible customer service and they don’t seem to care about their tenants. And I am a veteran, I want to look out for everyone’s well being and tell you to NOT do business wit Main Street Renewal.

I been without my garbage disposal for about two weeks. It wasn’t pretty having a clogged sink, I tried everything I could to get it functioning and nothing. I finally put a work order in and Mike who was my maintenance tech was very helpful and fixed my issue expeditiously. He was kind and convenient, he contacted me prior to arriving so I can be able to be home to assist him. Thank you Mike and I hope everyone else has or had a great experience with him.

Worst experience of my life! There’s no one to speak to about problems and all they do if create tickets to cover themselves but nothing gets done!I have mold growing in my house and it’s taken them almost a week to get anyone out here! Told them about a danger to my kids and they said the ticket must process! Repair techs have not been on time for 5 different repairs needed! Ceiling is caving in! Mold in kids restrooms!Had a major leak that took over 3 months to repair and when I asked for reimbursement they still haven’t responded since Nov 2023!If they own a property stay away completely!

As a previous tenant, and a good one at that, I highly recommend not signing anything with this shadowy company. Everything is great until once you’re in the door, and then you cannot reach anybody for the life of you. Know the department has phone numbers, names of managers, and every department is so compartmentalized that they have no clue without putting you on hold for hours to get anything resolved. At most you can hope for is a vague email address in which somebody will respond a week or more later. The on boarding teams are great, kind, and very helpful. Once you’re inside as a resident, though, everything changes. Once you go to move out, they will not issue a refund of your deposit for 30 days at minimum, and they will deduct anything they please without first speaking to you about it. It will issue a letter telling you they will deduct from your deposit, and give you 15 days to respond, but they won’t send that letter until after they’ve already cut the check and closed the account, in which they cannot do anything after that (or so they claim).

Where to start. Applied on Thursday evening . It is now Wednesday of the next week and still no response or have had a conversation with any leasing agent. Even after weve called several times. Looking at BBB reviews it seems im not alone on this. Its a nice home but has been on the market for over 60 days and its pretty obvious now , the management company is the reason why. When you call you are speaking to a script.Update 2 weeks later they finally called to let me know my application was processed. What a joke. Thats after I called them last week to tell them we are no longer interested and to withdraw our application.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Realtors and Sales Agents beware.I spent 45 minutes trying to access a home they had listed with clients of mine on Monday. There agent remarks say it is a show and go and no appointment needed. It also says do not contact the listing agent or brokerage for access issues, then says review attached documents for access instructions. Except they didnt attach any document. I was able to schedule the tour through Showing Time, When we get there after visiting a few other homes I click through showing time for access details and it states to contact the listing agent. which is a non-working number. I then go back to the agent remarks on the mls that says for issues accessing to call a number. To find out the number is the main number to the sales side of this organization and the sales agent didnt have a clue why they gave their number and provided me with there leasing division number.I then reached out to that number and an automated system asked me to setup a Self Showing as if I was a tenant. So I tried to enter that information and the automated system stated that the address was not recognized, we then call that same number back and hit option 2 that we are still having issues to be connected to a live person, it instead sends me a link to a chat to chat with someone, so we do that, after another 20 minutes of waiting for a response we leave. a chat agent responded back over an hour later.......If this is how hard it is just to view one of their listings, I couldnt imagine how hard it will be for a tenant already living in one of the properties this management company oversees if they have an issue.Steer Clear!

If you enjoy dealing with a broken, automated system for customer service, this company is for you.After submitting everything needed for their automated (do their jobs for them) system, I ended up having to wait several days for their system to kick out another email, reminding me to do the exact same process over again.After completing it again (Verify Identity & Financial Credentials), system would get stuck in the never-ending circle of Thank you for verifying ID & Finances....Please verify ID & Finances.I contacted customer service, and was sent to the same broken circular loop - which continued to do the same thing.When I contacted their customer service again with a more detailed explanation of what I was experiencing...they sent me the same link to the same broken loop.Even worse, they subcontract with an entirely different company to do Self-Viewings...and after wasting several hours after scheduling my viewing, was never contacted back by either company.Another annoying aspect is that you have to sing up for multiple accounts and apps (which all seem to share all your private data), and never end up working in the end anyway.Starting to think this is a scam front company for ID theft at this point.

We have had the WORST experience with this company!!! Our move in date was yesterday MARCH 1, 2024. We have been unable to MOVE in because we have been DENIED ACCESS codes to enter the property, we are currently on DAY TWO of having NO ACCESS to property. We were told that we should have an ACCESS code via email on FEBRUARY 29, 2024 at MIDNIGHT and again yesterday we were told the same thing that we should have them by MIDNIGHT! It has been OVER 24hrs and we haven’t received anything! My husband was on the phone with them YESTERDAY early in the morning to get the code to move in, he was getting hung up on and given the RUN AROUND! When he REQUESTED to speak with a supervisor he was denied that right, and got hung up on. Our relator and my husband were on a three way call with an AGENT who HAD the ACCESS CODE, however she DENIED giving him the code because she was going to get IN TROUBLE even though she said that on her end that we have paid in FULL the security deposit/first months rent which is a total of $4,000!!! We spoke to OVER 20 agents and were told that they have escalated the matter to “WELCOME HOME MANAGEMENT” and they have sent an email over and over again!! Yet we have received NOTHING!! I am baffled how this company is in business and have NOT had any LEGAL action taken against them!!! My husband and I paid everything we had to move into this property now we are stuck trying to figure out how to get our money back! We expressed to them that we want to CANCEL and pull out of, however we were DENIED that right because we have signed a contract YET our lease hasn’t even started because we have been DENIED ACCESS to the property!!!

I have to say that Jake has been our maintenance technician since day 1. This was my first rental home from apartment living and with every rental there’s always gonna be some issues left behind. Jake has gone above and beyond to help us out whenever we needed him even with the small things like turning on the pilot to the water heater 😂 I’m just a girl what can I say. Mainstreet struck gold when they hired him. It’s great knowing that when I submit a request to Mainstreet for maintenance its in good hands when I see it assigned to Jake.

Their process in handling applications for rental properties is horrible! As a rental property there is a $100 upfront fee understandable but when you send all your documents, information, and ect..but then you are asked like 6x that’s excessive after you have done it that many times but their application system keeps having issues. Their biometrics system app that is supposed to work I don’t care how many times they ask for you to scan it and waste your time. I called and one person says my application is pending and they don’t need anything else then the next one emails and says we need more information then I’ll get a self generated email asking for more information I got lost and confused so many times finally I asked to withdraw my application for the rental property. I’m shocked this company even stays in business and these people stay employed. I would of fired a sh..load of people by now if I was only getting a $100 and not homes getting rented because it doesn’t seem like they care if you do or don’t to be honest.Joey Medina

Rip off artists and liars!!! Got charged twice for an application fee Called them up the 1st time. Pressed 2 to get a call back. Never received one. Called back the same day (Monday) Got an answer. Although we’ve had some problems with the property, all of our maintenance requests have been completed in a timely manner. Jake Gonzalez especially has really gone above to help us make sure that we’re taken care of and has had the best customer service. Trying to pay a deposit and the system is requiring me to reset my password then not allowing me to reset my password even though I am using the specified requirements. The application process was the absolute worst! If I wasnt so set on getting the house I was applying for I would have gladly paid higher rent to avoid having to deal with this leasing company. I applied for the house and it took hours of trying before I could pay the application fee because the site kept timing out processing my payment. Then the issues with the horrible horrible PLAID income verification. Every time I try to use it with my credit union, I have issues. Finally got through all that and get an Email saying I dont make 3x the rent and more documents are needed. 3 mo of bank statements are requested. I think I will just avoid any further issues and send my last 4 pay stubs along as well I tell the rep if there is anything else you need, let me know. 5 min later the response of need bank statements comes. OK thats what I just sent but lets do it again. So I highlighted every direct deposit for myself and emailed them off. Response I cant accept bank statements that include someone elses name that will not be living in the house OK. I am divorcing and my paycheck hasnt started getting deposited into my week old checking account, so if you want to see 3 mo of bank statements, this is all I have. Response from the rep, Try PLAID again OK first of all the 3x rent rule goes by gross pay, not net. How are you determining gross pay by looking at how much the direct deposit is? There is no way to tell. Which is why I sent pay stubs so they can clearly see my gross is way above 3x rent. So I jump through PLAID hoops again and this time make sure that they have deposits showing 3x rent. Finally get approved and begin the comical process of trying to pay my deposit. The system keeps trying to charge me the $50 app fee again. Rep says she doesnt see that on her end. She gives me a promo code that deducts the $50 but every time I refresh the page, the amount due changes. Finally get that paid and have a move in date set. I need to pay the partial months rent because my move in is the 17th. It is currently the 6th. I tried to pay the partial month and I need to have the partial rent paid by the 12th so I can use ACH and not pay the ridiculous $4.95 convenience fee for using a credit or debit card. This fee is robbery, since they do not accept anything other than credit/debit card if you are trying to pay close to the due date. They require you to pay it 5 days early when trying to use ACH.

I recently put in a maintenance request end of may to fix disposal, dishwasher and both sinks in upstairs bathroom and keypad. Everything was fix except the sink in the master bathroom. And on top of that we waited over a week to even get a email regarding a day and estimated time. But, I called to inform them that we was going to be out of town. And they still scheduled someone to come out. Luckily we had someone at the house at the time. Next, problem I called Wednesday regarding a leak from the sink in the master bathroom upstairs which they didn’t fix. I text with someone because I was unable to access the resident portal at the time. So this person told me they will create the order. I had to leave work and come home to a flooding living room with water spots in the ceiling and my bathroom full of water and wet carpet. So now 1 this morning we hear something thinking one of the kids drop something no the whole ceiling came down someone could have been hurt. I call the lady said I see you called but no order was created 🤦🏽‍♀️. She ask for a order number which I was given any. I have the text message between me and the person who was supposed to do all of this. She ask me to email her those and I did I also sent the pictures which I will post. This is ridiculous but yet they can send reminder emails not to be late or to avoid paying a ate fee and go up on the rent. But, can have someone come out asap for a emergency. Main Street Renewal responded very quickly to my fence gate repair request. They sent a maintenance man out the very next day. His name is Jake. He was very courteous and professional. He gave me a timeframe for the repair, and he got it done so it closes correctly now. He also showed me how to open/close the latch. I asked him where the water shut off valve would be since I didnt see one in the house. He took the time to show me that it is located in the front yard, and how I would go about turning it off in an emergency. I am brand new to Texas from Wisconsin, and everyone has treated me very nicely. I very much appreciate that Jake told me to call or text if I have future questions.Thank you Main Street Renewal. UPDATE TO PRIOR POST BELOW: I received a response from Main Street asking that I email them with the problem. I emailed last Friday, 12/9. NO RESPONSE! These guys are so poorly managed. Their level of caring that we are now 4 weeks here with no solution to an electrical problem is zero. We are so regretting this decision. We always have a ridiculous amount of trouble getting the Main Street team to answer our maintenance requests but today we had Jake help us from their team and he was great. Once I got sent his contact info I texted Jake to check in about a time to visit and he was able to come in 30 mins. He was kind and fixed our sink super quickly. Poor communication, poor customer relations, reluctant to take responsibility for property maintenance. Water leak from exploded faucet outside ran for 11 hours. Had a tree over 20 ft tall dying and large branches falling on cars, neighbors car and roof and in yard to the point city compliance came out. And they still wanted to argue that the tree did not need service. After two months they finally cut the tree down. The property mgr would not speak with the code compliance officer, he had to threateh fines wirh the tree service...I will not rent from them again.

We rented with this company a few years back so we went with them this time around. They have gone down hill. The home was not cleaned and I brought up concerns when we did the tour and was told the house would be cleaned. Let me tell you nothing was done not only did I clean and clean carpets I had to paint and caulk. Now the fence is falling because and even though I’ve called multiple times nothing is being done but it’s “approved”. They must want this to become a law suit for them to move or have code compliance or the city involved. They are quick to ensure you pay way ahead of time. Oh you also do not get a walk through form so take a ton of pictures out in work orders for everything cuz either way they won’t do them all tho you have MOLD coming from the vents and it was not approved to get cleaned or the vents replaced.Keep receipts on everything in case you have to file a small claims with the local courts.If we don’t stay in top of them the quality of your rental at move in and during your stay will be trash. The call center does not do anything either. They just send messages. You ask for you local area supervisor and they can’t even provide names or emails. You won’t get ahold of anyone.Shout out to Jake the Mai fence that has come by. He was helpful and responds if you reach out.

I just ended my year lease and was so happy I finally got to be done with Main Street renewal! They are the absolute worst!!! I definitely do not recommend renting from them!! Their customer service team are useless and maintenance request to have anything fixed you’ll have to fight to get it completed. Plus out of all the years of renting the most I’ve ever been deducted was for a cleaning fee no more than $200-$300. They charged me $1200 on cleaning fees!! The place was clean no stains on carpet and normal wear and tear and they keep making excuses on the deductions and not wanting to provide proof!!

I will never rent from this company ever again. I rented with them in North Carolina, and had such a great experience that I decided to use them again when I transferred from North Carolina to the Texas market. First day we move in the AC unit is not working it is 95° inside the house there is a cockroach infestation and the amount of damage done to the carpet and tile from the previous attendant was horrendous. No one walked this property to double check if it was clean or still in good condition to rent. I agree with everybody else. The maintenance ticket is an absolute joke! You submit a ticket regarding your AC unit and it takes a week to get somebody to work on it.. They maintenance ticket is an absolute joke! Applied for a property on August 4, but it was leased out to someone else.. ok understandable, asked for my info to be transferred to another property and was approved for the 2nd property, but decided not to move forward due to personal reasons. Than I asked for my application to be transferred to another property that was more suitable for my family, since application is active for 3 days.. was told I would hear back in 24-48 hrs, mind you I was already approved. I have been going through the same issues you speak of with the same agent. Communication is the worst! Takes forever to get a response whether by email or phone, and thats if she even responds at all. At this point, I seriously do not understand how this management company is even able to rent out any of their homes with the craziness I have been put through. My application has now expired due to no fault on my end. Everything that she had requested for me to provide was provided promptly and then I guess my information just sat at her home desk. Now I have been told that I need to reapply again and choose another home. SMHI have also asked the application processing department to send an escalated email to her superior and then advised me it would take 2-3 business days to get a response and I have not heard back as of yet. So, today I called again and asked for another email to be sent to higher management. But in all honesty I have no hope in getting a response. Its really sad to think that all these homeowners have placed their homes in the hands of this company in hopes to get their homes rented. I would hope that homeowners take the time to read these reviews before making a decision to place their homes with this management company. I really thought that I was being targeted by this leasing agent, because I couldnt believe that other people were going through the same thing as I, but I stand corrected.

If I could give 0 stars I would, I’ve been a resident with mainstreet for a little over a year and the house I’m renting has had two pipes break and the AC not work 4 times. Each time a maintenance request is put in we have to wait days before we get a response from the management. We have to wait even longer if the maintenance guy can fix the issues. All the times the AC went out it has been over 100 degrees. The only reason you see 5 stars is because of Jake the maintenance guy. Don’t rent from this company.

Never mind that the day & time the pool dude claimed to have been “locked out” I was here, AC repair guys were here, and their OWN MAINTENANCE guy was here - all in marked vehicles I might add. Pool guy says he was locked out & no one answered the door. $25. Oh & when we got the house, despite same pool guy claiming to have been cleaning/maintaining the pool weekly, it was green. Not a little dirty. GREEN. At one point, we pulled up when he was here, sitting in his truck playing on his phone & just sat there waiting till he’d noticed. 10 minutes later, still no clue or sign of life. Then we have this hot mess happening. 24 hours ago, the sink backed up. Kitchen is 100% unusable (think about how often you use your kitchen sink). No ideas when someone may get out. Not a clue. Online request & 4 phone calls, no clue when someone might at some point show up to fix it. So, f the tenants. Just make sure you pay your rent & extra fines on time.This AM I was told by one of their call center peeps that they could NOT put me on hold, contact a vendor, & let me know when they’d be here. Well, sink started leaking, I called back and all of a sudden they DID put me on hold, contact the vendor & get me scheduled. So, clearly they’re liars as well as slum lords.

Our a/c unit has been going in and out for over a month now. I have put in multiple maintenance requests and I have not had anybody come to fix this! It is over 82° in our house!! Whenever I call I get redirected to the call center and not one local person has called us or sent out a maintenance person. They tell me that the vendor has to fix it! The vendor has not showed up! It’s been over a month. Whenever I submit a new request it gets canceled. They booked us. Nights in a hotel…. Well that’s not good enough! I need them to send out a technician a month ago. Now the a/c is not coming on at all!!! It is miserable in our home. We have always paid our rent early or on time! This company is very cheap and this is not my first issue with them, but I can guarantee that we will not be renewing our lease. I chose to rent from them assuming they would handle this type of stuff. They are the absolute worst!!! However, Jacqueline the customer service rep has been very pleasant. It’s sad that she has to give tenants the run around. It’s definitely not her it’s the company!! They need to do better if they want to keep good tenants who take care of their properties and pay on time!! I am beyond disappointed!! Even the local office is closed with no lights on. 6 month UPDATE: We are so disappointed in this management company. My clients have had so many problems since moving into their rental 6 months ago. They have gone through no hot water, no AC, dryer plug not working, front door not shutting properly, etc. These things happen and they understand that. What is unacceptable is how long it takes them to get someone out there to fix the issues. Were talking weeks! When their AC quit working in late spring, the management company said it was only considered an emergency when the temperatures outside reached above 90 degrees. My tenants had to buy a portable AC and room together in one room to be able to sleep. They had to go to a laundry mat for more than 2 weeks when their dryer plug was completely inoperable. Very poor maintenance.As a realtor, I really appreciate when my clients have a good experience. Both the leasing agents and their third-party counterpart, Main Street Renewal, are unresponsive. We moved to Texas in March and had problems looking for a house everywhere we went. We saw then applied for a home Main Street Renewal had posted and we were moved in by the end of the week. The people you meet here are absolutely amazing! They are patient, they work with you through any problem and always have your best interests at heart. Monica had sent us our lease within 5 days of us viewing and applying for the house. Michelle walked us through everything we needed to know. She always helps us with any issues we have as far as helping us learn how to make our payments, walking us through all the paperwork and even a bit of small talk here and there to help us both get through our working day. When you get approved through Main Street Renewal you also get a 30 day check in. This is when they come and take care of anything that needs to be fixed. Jeff is the manager for the maintenance department and is always a pleasure speaking with. He is very kind, patient and willing to work with your schedule. He has his maintenance technicians call you after theyve completed everything and let you know what was done to your home, youre never kept in the dark! Meeting these lovely people have given me hope that there is still goodness in this world. Moved into a home with no electrica outlets working, no plumbing, windows dont lock and NOTHING has been repaired. The workers dont communicate with the rental company. ive been in this house for less than three months and still no one has completed the work orders. the kitchen cabinet shelves are falling through so you cant even store anything. The drawers are literally rotting off. Not a good company to work with. The house next door to the one we were renting was targeted by multiple drive by shootings in a 24 hour period (I have police reports to prove it). My wife and I decided to move for our safety. Getting out of the lease proved to be very challenging. The company wouldn’t let us transfer to a different property so getting out of the lease was the only option. It is incredibly challenging to get anyone with any sort of authority on the phone. After being told multiple times that someone would call me back and never getting a call back I resulted to staying in the phone until the appropriate manager was on the line. The first solution was that we would continue paying rent until a new tenant is found or the lease expires. I do not know many people that would be willing to rent a house next door to a house that has bullet holes in it. After many hours on the phone the solution was that we are responsible for one more months worth of rent. While better, I do not feel we should be financially responsible at all given the situation. I was told this was the best they could do since the crime did not take place on the property (even though the police report states that someone hid behind my truck while being shot at).I understand we signed a lease but there should be room to act outside of the letters on a page say. At some point human life should be valued over profit. Very unethical, unhelpful heartless company.The property is currently available to rent at much higher price than we were paying. I have been a renter under this company for a little less than a year. Although I have experienced my share of issues with them, I do want to leave a positive review for one person in particular. Rick works the maintenance side of the company and does a fantastic job. Everytime he shows up, I know the job is going to get done right. He always seems to be in good spirits and talks me through what he is doing. He also is very respecting of my home. I was meaning to post this after his first visit, but he definitely earned it this time.Id like to also add William the move-out coordinator. He is very respectful and made himself available for my last minute changes. He was punctual and was very informative.

I’m a former tenant. We moved out October 2019. My husband and I followed all move out procedures accordingly including painting. However we were given the wrong paint colors due to a corporate change and paint brands and colors. I immediately of informed the office as soon as we realize the paint color was incorrect. We were assured That we would not be charged for the office mistake. I received a deposit check of $90. I have been waiting for the rest of my deposit since December. It is March 2020. I call the office once or twice a month for an update. I continue to be told that they request is being sent to the main office in Austin or Dallas and that I should hear back soon. This happens every single month. For a company that is as large as it is and that has offices all around that should not be an issue. I I would advise anyone who is looking to rent here to be cautious because you may not receive what is due to you in the end.

The electricity doesnt work in half the house including the refrigerator and AC. I have a 9 month old and my wife with me we have had to move into an extended stay on our dime. Now a month and a half later we finally got the area manager Keith Barnes to respond. He got an electrician scheduled for today. Lets see if they show up.These people are incredibly rude and unresponsive. Its been a nightmare from the start. Please save yourself the trouble. Unless things shape up ill leave this review. Ill update per issue.***UPDATE 9-21-20****We had an Electrician Scheduled from the regional manager of OK and TX in the previous posting. That Electrician Did not show up. I proceeded to contact anyone that I could to get an update. After talking with 3 customer service reps I was told an Electrician was never scheduled and that they do not dispatch services unless they go through a competitive bid process which means that they allow multiple vendors bid on the same job and go with the lowest bidder. Understandable, however I was told this process can take up to a week with trade services. Meanwhile I am STILL going back and forth to an extended stay with my daughter and wife. Im baffled as to why they Regional Manager would tell me (in an email) that an electrician has been dispatched when they never were. I was finally contacted by their Resident Services Team who listened to my story and what I had been going through to get the place Ive been renting for the past 2 months livable for my family. I asked him if there was anyway they were going to offer rent concessions considering i had spent over $4100.00 on living in an extended stay while paying rent at this property (which was on time everytime). He said yes but they would have to resolve the electrical issue beforehand. Who knows when that will be.A week goes by of the competitive bid process and scheduling with a third party company that they contracted. At this point we are at 2 months now WITHOUT ELECTRICITY, AC or THE ABILITY TO USE THE FRIDGE. We were finally given a date today. Shortly after this I was contacted by the contractor that this property management contracted and was told that the work has only been approved for a certain amount of money and that the job would take more time and money so they were going to wait on the approval from MSRenewal. In short nothing was done and I am yet again moving my family out of the property and into an extended stay while expected to pay rent.Im currently close to 6k in debt due to this mess. Im a programmer and I work from home so having such a caustic living arrangement forces me to have to let contracts go with my employer due to limited internet or my daughter needing to be taken care of. We can afford a babysitter. We cant afford to pay another months rent AND pay for a motel . Ive nearly maxed out my credit card and have less than $80.00 in my account. Im terrified of what is going to happen next. The worst part is having hope that things will get fixed and give my family hope then it being all ripped away. Ive left several emails and messages for the regional manager Keith Barnes but have gotten nothing not even a reply.***UPDATE 9-23-20****I still have not received a call back or an email. We’ve put in work orders that got fixed within a few days so that was great considering these previous comments. Our family loves our new home. It’s a great start for us. I don’t even know where to start. I was notified on Friday July 28, 2022 that I would be moving inn on August 1, 2022. I applied way back in April… The leasing agent Anna was handling my case am somewhere lost communication with her team or boss because I have yet to receive the information about getting in my home. This has been the longest 4 months with 7 kids an no help. The company has a big communication problem. There are families out here homeless an these people could careless. They are the absolute worst. I applied for a home February 18th background was approved, credit was approved and then start the beginning of them just sitting on my paperwork. The house got rented underneath me by someone that actually does there job, so they transferred me to another home I was told there was zero applications. There zero communication they just sat on my application for no reason. I had to find out myself that the second house I applied for was rented out from underneath me. There zero communication nobody make sure they are doing their job. They even said after 30days and there no process I have to reapply and pay applications fee. Its March 17th and I heard nothing from Madison the one supposed to be doing my application. Stay away just because there beautiful homes these people dont care about you and your family

He was very attentive and made sure he understood everything I had concerns about. He followed up with me after the work was completed to let me know what was done. Ive been with Main Street Renewal going on years. We absolutely love the property we rent, love the neighborhood and neighbors!Main street is also very helpful when it comes to customer service. TERRIBLE all around. We’ve had so many issues with this house and trying to get them resolved takes days upon days. We’ve had three major water leaks, one of which put us without running water for three days. Our water heater went out and currently we are on day 2 without A/C in this summer heat!!! They said they would bring us portable A/C units or put us up in a hotel, neither of which have happened. We have asked for a discount on rent, only for them to say “maybe.” Do not rent from them.

Michele and Monica made the entire process of renting my home such a pleasurable experience. They were incredibly knowledgeable and Michele answered all my questions before I even had a chance to ask them! Everything you need is on their website at your fingertips and laid out for you step by step. Could not have asked for an easier process!3/19/21 Edit...After moving into the house I never heard from or was able to get a hold of either Michele or Monica again. The customer service is the absolute worst I have EVER dealt with. I have emailed the company three times in the last week with no reply to any of the emails. I was charged for a maintenance visit that they claimed I didnt cancel which took 4 months to resolve when I was finally came across my email to them cancelling the visit. The one good thing I can say about this service is that they are affordable houses. They have great deals and signing a lease is not complicated and they are flexible. They are pleasant when going to the office HOWEVER!!!!!I have had nothing BUT problems from them! When we moved in the house was FILTHY! Super dirty standing water in the tubs. The screens in the windows were trashed with holes etc. they said they wouldn’t fix them the holes weren’t big enough for them to fix them yet the whole corner of a few of them are gone! They didn’t sweep, mop, shampoo ANYTHING! There is nothing like moving allllll the way across town to clean your house because it’s too dirty to even sleep in. The showers were disgusting the floor when swept picked up so much dirt and debris from the last tenants.There were bugs all kinds of water bugs, solved fish, ants everywhere. Mind you my husband is allergic to insect bites/bees/ stings etc they refused to come out and spray said that it was our responsibility. I could’ve understood if we were here for sometime but JUST moving in NO! When I expressed how displeased I was with the move in all I got was we will make a note of that.The only reason they received 3 stars is the house is very affordable and it is a nice size in a nice neighborhood but they really need to pay more attention to their properties. I thought it was a standard to cleaning a house before new tenants move in. Guess I was wrong!

I would like to say I give a 5star review for the maintenance guy Rick ... him taking the time explaining and going above and beyond his duty to make sure I was satisfied.. On a flip side I have been charged for some of the littlest things by another technician that was very disappointing especially when you have to make a second service call. The company charges for any little thing. I am not happy with the company as a whole. $100 charge for hair in the tube after I tried myself to unclog it I asked for someone to look at it while out for another clogged HVAC Duct. I may have used the wrong tool or drains, but I was not happy to be charged that amount especially since the maintenance guy was actually out here for another clogged HVAC line as well I would have appreciated him saying hey this is how you do it or this is what we use would you like to try that before I do any work because this will be the charge etc. When I called the office to explain what happen, the representative from the customer service department was rude and then someone sent a email saying resolved so I was excited to think ok they fixed the issue just to be told no resolved is just what we put on the email after someone emails you back but the charges would stand. For the amount of rent paid I would think being understanding and compassionate with the customers would be important. I will probably not renew my lease moving forward mainly because of all the charges for any and everything. But other than that again I want to say, the second Maintenance guy made the world of difference and holds to the up most customer service that a company should have.. Rick is the guy for the job. He Explained what he was doing and why and gave tips to prevent problems in the further and avoid charges. So even though he works for the company he still made me feel like his first priority was making sure I was satisfied.

I had a lot of things that was needing repairs at the time of moved in back in March. They just began to make those repairs. But I have repairs that are needing to still be done because the 2nd repair person came 2 days in a row to repair things on the list and still didn’t complete the job or did a halfway job. Another worker came out and he did the ceiling fan & stayed he will stay on top ensuring that the remaining things get replaced. So my shower still needs a flap to stop water from going out shower and the stove has a glass top built in the counter, but 1 big burner is not working. When request for repair was made got a response stating Main Street Renewal doesn’t repair 1 burner issues.😳 But I pay my rent and keep with credit on my account and I’m suppose to leave with only 3 burners? No I don’t think so. I have dealt with Rick 1st, Javier 2nd and now Oscar 3rd. All the guys were very nice and kind did complete small repairs, but still waiting to see if it will be resolved.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! Their customer service is abysmal. Our HVAC system is broken for the 2nd time in 6 months. Its been 95 degrees out and we’ve been unable to get a supervisor to return our call for the last 5 days. None of the customer service reps can get us in contact with a supervisor and they’re unable to approve the request. We’ve been told numerous times we would receive a phone call back and have been blown off. Our house is currently sitting at 90 degrees and I work from home and have 2 dogs. Not to mention the condition the house was given to us in. Please save yourself the hassle and do not rent from this company.

My A/C quit working Monday night. Ive been trying to get this resolved since Tuesday morning, but it took me calling 3 times to get a vendor to the house. It has been 97 degrees outside, and this is not acceptable. When I spoke to the supervisor, Eric, he said the most he can do is send an e-mail to inform them that his is high priority which might take a couple hours for them to respond. How is it high priority if a response (not a resolution, but a response) takes a couple hours? The only person that has been helpful during this experience is Nikki who was the fourth person I spoke to yesterday. She is the only person that found a vendor to come out same day, but the bid from said vendor was rejected, and nobody can tell me why.

Williams did my home pre-inspection and he was awesome. He was very professional, kind, and helpfull; I cant say the same for most of the folks Ive communicated with at the Call Center. Most did not care about my complaint, and made no effort at resolving my issue, especially Tom at the Austin location. I found Tom to be very condescending, unprofessional and heartless. As a matter of fact, Im still waiting on a supervisor to give me a call (which I requested twice from two different representatives at the call center, to include Tom), its been about a week and Im still waiting on that call.Update: Been over four months, we already moved out of the property and I never did receive any call from a supervisor. It took an unacceptable amount of time for someone to come out and fix my heat. It took 2 work orders to be placed and 2 maintenance technicians to figure it out. The first one wasn’t even licensed and was working on stuff. They discovered my unit in the attic had bad wires frayed and taped together with electrical tape and something else was burnt. Makes me feel really safe and secure to know this ~2 year old house has issues already so I’m glad I’m just renting. In the end, the maintenance technicians put a request in for a vendor to come out and check it again. Main Street Renewal is fine if you don’t ever need their assistance but they definitely want to screw you over for money at the end of the day.

I have been calling ALL week to get the status of my application, and conveniently received the conditionally approved letter by email this morning (Saturday 3/26/21) and the letter I received is dated 3/23/21, meaning the letter has been written since that date. So I call and wait on hold for over 30 min to then speak to an agent so I could see what my conditions were. Well low and behold they HAVE NO IDEA. So therefore, I am waiting until Monday when someone will supposedly be calling me back (I am SUPER doubtful that anyone will call me). I have received ZERO communication from them since the day I applied, no thank you for your application, no follow up with my numerous calls regarding my status.It gets better, so while speaking to this agent he advises me Oh, I am sorry maam this property rented 2 days ago 2 DAYS AGO...I called every day since 3/24/21 and NOONE told me this information. So now my options are to transfer my application, which conveniently cant be done until Monday, and can take an ADDITIONAL 3-5 business days JUST to transfer my ALREADY screened rental application. So far my experience with this company is LESS than acceptable, and after reading most reviews posted here I dont think I will be wasting my time with the poorly trained, terrible response time company that MSR is. This is truly sad as the idea this company has it great, but they are not trained and DO NOT have the ability to do what they say their goal is. Pretty much every time I call there is a new excuse, and a new problem, and I have not even signed ANYTHING, I would highly NOT recommend this company as it appears from my experience and that of others that they have VERY poor customer service skills. Not a single person I talked to can TRULY understand my frustration because NOT a single one of them are getting the run around like I am. The homes are nice, and the prices are good, but the customer service/application process is TERRIBLE, and for these reasons I AM OUT!

I have been a renter for 13 years and have had some rough Handymen in that time. I am so thankful Mainstreet Renewal sent out Rick Geraci for me today! Our garbage disposal wasnt working and it didnt even take him even five minutes to know what was wrong with it. He immediately let me know what was wrong with it, walked me through how he was going to fix it, what I can do in the future to fix and assess the problem myself, and even some ways to prevent it! Without a doubt the worst expertise Ive ever had with a rental company! My wife and I moved into the house were renting a month ago due to a military move to Texas. For starters we couldnt even access the house to look inside because they hadnt setup the door lock Bluetooth properly. I called and they said theres nothing they could do about it, to call the lock company to fix it. That was a no go so we decided to move forward with the lease anyway because it fit our needs perfectly (location, rent amount, etc.) We were selected for the property and we thought that was the end of our problems... I wish! Keep in mind My wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant during all this. We found out that during the pre-inspection that main street renewal didnt notice that there were no mailbox keys. After calling many times about getting the keys we were finally told by a customer service supervisor that we had to request to talk to, that the area manager BEN HOBBS told us there is nothing they can do because the mailboxes are government controlled... please keep in mind that this back and forth about the mailbox keys had been going on for almost a month. This company has ill trained personnel, no sympathy for their renters and did I mention the San antonio office is closed. All their employees work from home. Avoid this property manager at all costs theyll give you the run around and have no real clue as to what theyre doing. Your company should be ashamed as to how they treat their renters after seeing how many bad reviews you have!Edit sep 7 2022We are now on our second water leak in this house within a year. Water is leaking from the ceiling, through the wall and coming up through the flooring. We were told that a vendor would be coming out yesterday to fix it. Now were told that the vendor wont be coming until sep 11. Our property has been damaged from the water leak. I can only imagine what the mold will be like in this house as well as the money it will take to fix all the damage that has been done and will continue to be damaged until it can be fixed. Seriously this property management company is horrible! I would never trust them with my own property if we needed a property manager. Thank God were not signing another year long lease in this horribly over process house thats falling apart because of this horrible property management company.EDIT: Oct 20 2022 were now on our third water leak in this house. Its been 4 days now and still no one has come out to fix the leak above the garage. It has completely damaged the drywall in the garage, or own personal items in the garage and who knows what is doing in the attic. Everytime I call I am told theres nothing happening.

We have been in our home for 4 months and have had 4 maintenance requests. They take weeks before getting to your request. Most recent request has been for the AC. I try calling to check the status but the wait time is always long about 27 minutes. So we normally have to drive up to their office to follow up since the CSR’s do not want to hear you out or transfer you to a supervisor. They are not understanding what so ever. When i requested to speak to a supervisor, They say that supervisors do not respond to the tenants. This last job the contractor did a horrible job and was left unfinished and even told us that his boss doesn’t want him to do it the correct way basically to half ass the job. Excuse my language. We had to make a separate request to get it done. Still waiting on the AC to be fixed. It’s been a week over 80 degrees. And still 3 days no response.

Currently situated in Texas with temperatures reaching into the high 90s low 100s and the AC unit is malfunctioning. Put in a ticket using the app at 8 pm the night before. I get no updates until I call the company at noon. I then had to call the company 2 more times because there are no updates on a repair technician/company coming to the house to repair the ac and inside the house is nearing 90 degrees. On my third call to the company at 5:30 pm, I spoke to a gentleman named Aldrick, that got me details of a repair service that will come to the house. He provided me with a day and time they will be at the house. It took me three times. As a military veteran living in Texas I will be sure to let my teammates and colleagues know that this is the type of service that you may have to expect when dealing with Main Street Renewal.Thank you Aldrick, for being a shining light in this company!

Im not sure why there are so many negative reviews on this page. Im glad I did not follow what other people said and let it effect my views on applying to rent a home from MS Renewal. I have had no issues with them and started renting in Nov of 2018, my husband and I have filled out about 6 maintenance requests since moving in and they have answered right away and fixed our problems within the same week of filling out the requests. The Company itself has been great. My family and I are currently downsizing homes and the company we went through this time has been terrible and charging an arm and a leg just to rent a home. I am so upset we couldnt find a one story with ms renewal so that we couldve stayed with them. Nothing but great things to say about them and the 2 YEARS WE RENTED FROM THEM.

Update! Don’t ever rent from this company! getting something fixed even when urgent is a nightmare. I have been without hot water for over a week now because our water heater is broken and there is still nothing setup to get it fixed.Main Street is garbage. They just decided without warning they are charging a $35/ month pet fee on top of the $250 one time fee. So for our two dogs we have to suddenly come up with an extra $840 for the year or move. Tried calling and talking to someone and was basically told “it is what it is”.

Review from a potential renter. All of the staff that have contacted me have been kind and helpful. The ease of self viewing via Rently is perfect for busy people like myself. However, every home we viewed was in sad condition. Dirty, roaches, unkept yards, old or cheap appliances. We probably would have snatched up a couple of rentals had the property been cared for prior to viewing. It reflected on the property management oversight, and we were seriously concerned about attention to issues if we were tenants. We ended up renting elsewhere.

I would love to give Main Street Renewal a negative 5, unfortunately that is not possible. I have been with them since May. Since then we have submitted close to 5 maintenance requests due to leaking water. One for the master bath and the other 4 for the kitchen sink / dish washer. They have only responded to 2 maintenance calls. The time that someone did respond and come out to fix the kitchen sink all he managed to do was spill water all over everything after turning on the water and forgetting to reconnect the pipes under the sink... Because you can not be given an appointment I was told he would come back today anytime between 8 - 12. It is now 12:46 and he has not shown up. I called the office to have the rep tell me that these things happen and he is probably just running late. Thats fine, I only took 4 hours off of work to wait on someone that never showed up... Ive only been here renting for 4 months and I can only imagine how shitty the next 8 will be with this company. I just got back from Afghanistan in May to move into this nice house with a shitty rental management company. Explain how I get better service over seas and more responsive people in a combat zone?The lady on the phone was just getting frustrated and getting an attitude because she couldnt understand my frustration.... Hire quality employees, give good service and do what your supposed to do.... From start to finish was a fantastic and very professional experience! Was able to visit rental properties by ourself without a realtor present at all times. Every step of the process was easy and flawless. They even have an App that you can make your payments, request repairs and participate in community events. Every home visited was immaculate. Definitely recommend and will myself recommend to anyone I know looking for a new rental home. Thanks Main Street. Well now I’d like to add that the actual move in experience is not as fantastic or professional and is still continuing to be a nightmare. Have had a plumbing issue since day 1 (4/16) and is still not resolved. I’m paying for a 2 1/2 bath and due to the plumbing myself and 2 roommates have been sharing 1 shower still to date. No one will call to speak to me directly even after several email requests. So frustrating.

If it was possible Id give this place a negative star review. My Boyfriend had been looking at rentals and although our agent had said she heard bad things about this company, he chose to rent this home. We felt fine seeing that everything seemed to be new in the house.The most telling part about this company is that they put a chunk of money on the aesthetic , but , DID NOT EVEN CHECK THE AC IN TEXAS!!!!!!!! When he moved in and turned the air on, he was overwhelmed with the smell of wha he found out was cat hair/urine. After spending his own money and missing days on end of work to be at the rental to accomodate contractor and trying to neutralize the odors, he is still having issues with the company. The A/C and heater are both broken and although the contractor did come once, the issue was not completely resolved. Apparently the company has not even paid said contractor for the initial job and this is causing backup of my boyfriend getting his place fixed. He has been dealing with this for 2 months now, since his lease started. The representatives from the company do not respond in a timely manner to these calls or requests and calling in for your service needs takes 30+ minutes. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Terrible! When it comes to emergency repairs its an absolute joke. An emergency call about a rapid leak took 3 days to respond to. Now our ac is broken and the emergency maintenance line thinks that maybe well get a call by tomorrow-maybe. Meanwhile, its triple didgets outside and we have small children. Also had an issue 3 months ago where they so cheaply and poorly installed our microwave that the contractor that came to fix it was shocked that it hadnt caused a house fire. When I reached out with my concerns about what I had been told I didnt even get a response, let alone an explanation or apology. I Googled MSR to get the number so we can call about our A/C and saw there were negative reviews that make no sense to me because our experience has been great. So, I thought I would write a review myself just to let yall know that weve had nothing but great experiences with MSR. Weve been in our house over 2 years and we will renew our lease when the time comes because: they ARE VERY responsive, they get someone out to fix things quick, and the quality of house that we have for this area for the money is great. When we first moved in, the old dishwasher didnt wash or rinse nicely so they replaced it with a new one within days. When we have had issues with electrical outlets they came out right away. When we had A/C issues, they sent someone out right away. Now, that issue took a very long time to fix but it wasnt because they didnt send anyone out. It was an unusual issue that would seem to be fixed but then would mess up again. When we called and said hey we went without proper A/C and Heat for a few good months because of this issue guess what? They refunded a good portion of our rent for those months. Cant complain there. Currently we have a side of the fence that is falling down. The guy came out and guess what? They volunteered to go ahead and fix up the other side of the fence too because its starting to lean a bit, too. My husband and I have had nightmare landlords and Main Street Renewal has been the exact opposite. Even getting the house was easy. We didnt even have to meet with anyone. WE were able to view the house and do everything via phone and internet for a truly fair and equal experience. No one was judging us by our appearance or anything other than our financial ability to pay the rent. We love Main Street Renewal Im finding it a bit hard to believe some of the negative reviews Im seeing are real.

They will steal your deposit. We left the house in better shape then we found it. They charged us trash removal for a fallen tree which I submitted a work order for and they didn’t complete. The took over a week to fix a broken A/c unit in Texas summer leaving the inside of the house in the mid 90s.To the comment from MSR below my review. I did dispute my review. I have a video of the house showing the condition I left it it. I even submitted a complaint to the BBB. Do not rent from this company!

I have had a good experience with them. Michele in the office was really sweet and was happy to help us out with what she could when we had an issue with my bank making a mistake. I didn’t feel like I needed to over explain myself to be understood. I can be a hard to deal with person in a lot of ways but I didn’t need to get ugly. Which helps me sleep better. I’ve dealt with terrible situations involving rental companies in the past but this is far from the worst.

Maintenance is a joke. Let me clarify that- the LOCAL maintenance guys like Oscar and Victor are great. HOWEVER- you are not working with a company that is LOCAL anymore- everything is sourced out, so here is how your maintenance requests will proceed: you will fill out an online form, the form will sit for days in limbo, finally you will get a text that says your work order has been assigned... then typically a local team member will come look and take pics... then they will tell you oh we have to get this to a 3rd party to perform this job (unless its something basic)... then you will wait a week or more and finally another vendor will get your work order... youve waited so long that you contact the vendor directly and they say... yes, sorry we JUST received the work order (its probably been well over a week or two by now). Then the vendor will come out and they will also take pics... then they will have to put in a bid with MSR, which MSR will probably deny at first because they are being cheap... then you have to figure out where your repair stands and by then maybe 3 weeks or a month has gone by... we lived with a broken window for about 6 weeks... in the winter... now we have a downed tree that is in both our yard and the neighboring yard and we are going on TWO WEEKS now... so lets see how long it takes for this to be taken care of. Plus- be ready to now have to pay pet rent (they didnt charge at first- plus a non refundable pet deposit), the rent will go up substantially every year... I agree with the comment someone else made- prior to Covid things were more local and seemed ok... now its terrible... terrible miscommunication, no organization... I believe all requests are sourced out to Ecuador or some other country... its just gotten to be ridiculous... that is why we ARE MOVING.

SAVE YOURSELF FROM A NIGHTMAREWell I have now been waiting on a response from anyone since Oct 28th about the leak in my ceiling. You read that correct it is now Dec 14, have followed up to their emails but it makes no difference.They can keep bombarding you with requests to resign you lease but wont handle the problems that youve had for months. The people always pass it off to another person.Also the vendor the sent, never even looked for mold, just hit the seams of the drywall and said yeah, youre good, also didnt check the second floor where some of the leak happened as well. Now where he repaired the ceiling it is already cracking.Also this is just the top of the iceberg with this company, dont do it, please pay attention to the 1 star reviews, Im sure the 5 stars are all their employees or family members like most shady businesses.

We are an active duty family coming in from Alaska. We have been in this house for less than a month and have had to submit an astronomical amount of work orders just to be able to use the house (unusable AC, unusable dishwasher, ant infestation indoor and outdoor, unusable garage door, non draining sinks/tubs, filthy/dirty throughout, etc). I had to add an additional 4 pages to our move in inspection report due to the fact the house was in no way shape or form move in ready. Customer service is almost non existent and there is no avenue to speak to a supervisor or the management team. We are currently dealing with waste water sitting in our master bathroom which has soaked into the carpets of our master bedroom and master closet. MSR continues to give us the runaround on what they are doing to remedy this problem (plumbing fix, water/waste clean up, carpet/wall/floor restoration, etc). They do not use common sense, do not understand the meaning of “emergency”, “urgency”, “quality” and lack basic customer service and follow up skills. I would be embarrassed to have my property managed by this company and highly discourage the use of MSR as a property management company and encourage you to seek all other avenues for rentals before MSR.

If I could give a negative rating I would. We have had more problems with this house and company in the 3 months we have lived here than any other rental property ever. We are currently on DAY 4 without any use of water or plumbing. We cannot use the restroom, shower, sinks, or anything else that supplies water. We have had to drive 10 minutes to the nearest gas station just to use the restroom and we have no way of showering, brushing our teeth, doing laundry or dishes. We submitted a maintenance request on Saturday, called into the emergency line and it is now the end of Tuesday and it still has not been handled. We FINALLY got someone out very late last night that told us the sewer main was completely broken only to tell us that they could not do anything without approval the following day due to MS being closed. Today the company submitted their estimate and pictures and awaited approval which never came. There has been such a lack of communication and no one seems to care. We have called MS directly and the emergency line at least 15 times since Saturday to handle this and nothing has happened. Tomorrow will be our 5th day out of service.

I have been a MSR tenant for about 5 years. The customer service has been less than stellar, to say the very least. Im active duty military, and I have orders to transfer at the end of the month (19 days from now). I submitted all of my paperwork, including my orders, to break the lease early due to the fact that I have orders. Needless to say, I havent heard from them. I tried to go into the office to speak to them in person,but they are still closed due to covid. I have called them multiple times. , at least 3 times a week. Every time I call them, Im on the phone for about 40 minutes. I dont speak to anybody that can help me. I get the run around and the only consistent answer I get is it takes time. They never contact me. Since there are no offices for me to go to, there is nothing I can do but wait (according to them.) I do not recommend this company to anybody, especially if you’re Military.

I lived in one of their homes in San Antonio, was not pleased at all. When I had maintenance took forever for them to come out. When we moved which was btw 2 months early due to my medical, we put the house in tip top shape, I was charged for carpets which I paid someone to come in and do professionally, blinds that were broke when we were moved in and reported to move in sheet, and other stuff. But I did my deposit back, well some of it anyway. But as soon as I was medically ready to move back to san Antonio, they decided to be unfair and tell the other company we didnt pay rent on time. Mind you we were 5 months ahead and my husband is self employed owns own business doing in house remodeling and more, so we all ways paid on time, until COVID shut everything down we missed 2 months but got help from city. How could a company say we were never on time all because of a COVID situation. When I called and asked for the ledger of proof we were always late, NO RESPONSE. Very disappointed in this company. WOW Is all I can say.

Do not rent from this company. They are horrible in every single way. I have had a plumbing issue at my house for the past month. I have been lied to multiple times, I have requested call backs from supervisors and have not received a single one. They are lying to me saying that my repair was complete on the 3rd day of having no service even though we are still not able to use our service. For a month now we have not been able to flush any toilet paper down our toilets due to the repair still needing to be made, and now one of your wonderful employees tells me that I should never flush toilet paper down a toilet. Then why is it called toilet paper? This company is a joke, and no one should ever rent from them period.

I’m leaving this review for future tenants specially Military. Trying to get a work order done? Forget about it, the system will just automatically cancel it. Expect to handle the issue yourself. I had to fix a leak in the toilet which was making our water bill go up by 50%. I submitted my renewed renters insurance through email, no reply and was charged $25 and they automatically enrolled me into another renters insurance that I have to cancel. I think during this quarantine the employees of the San Antonio branch just up and took a vacation not even bothering with telework. My property manager in FL will call us and email us if anything is wrong or just general maintenance issues with my property and I can always establish communications with them. If you are PCSing to SA stay away from anything related to MSRENEWAL. I’m done sending courteous emails and trying to contact an office that probably does not exist.

Ive had a good experience with MSR. A couple of weeks after moving into one of their managed properties, my air conditioning went out over the weekend. Within hours of submitting the maintenance request, they had a technician out to fix the problem (clogged drainage pipe). I submitted additional work orders within the first 30 days of moving in to fix some warped drawers and other minor issues in the house. They were flexible in scheduling a time with me to come out, fixed the drawers, and assisted with the other minor issues. The house is functional and cozy.Please note, MSR requires property owner approval for bigger fixes, such as new kitchen cabinets, which this house is close to needing. I expect that most owners, mine included, will not approve a fix until absolutely necessary.I am happy with MSRs responsiveness to issues and how they have treated me; I have had nothing but a positive experience with them.

I asked them to reimburse me for having to relocate since I have a 2 year old child and they said it’ll take up to 60 days to even get a response back!!! I won’t even be renting at that point so how would you give me a rent credit if you refuse to give me a check for the money I have to waste over them?! We leased a home on 10/01/19. Within two days of min the first oving in the main gas line ruptured and filled the house and yard with natural gas. An immediate call was made to Main Street Renewal. The first question we were asked, Is this an emergency? My husband nearly went through the roof, Any gas leak is an emergency. After it was reported and the gas was shut off by Center Point Energy, it was 16 days before we had gas service again. During that 16 days we made numerous phone calls about this repair and all we got was the usual standard corporate apology.My husband was told, We feel your frustration. My husbands response was, The hell you do, you can do laundry, stay warm and take a bath.We were told to submit a request for a lease adjustment. We did and on the 25th of Oct. it was forwarded to the Main office in Austin. It is now tdhe 7th of Jan. 2020. Nothing. The only word was from Jeff in the S.A. office. He forwarded an E-Mail that stated that they were approx. 45 days behind. This was within the first two weeks of November.My patience is now gone! This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. There is no reason for this delay. Im sure a court claim would not take this long.

Since Thursday 04/15/2021 we have had problems with trying to enter the property. The code that was given to us for the smart lock has not worked and the application that we were told to download did not work either. We called the mainstreet renewal call center and they provided me with approximately 10+ codes that also did not work.  I then took it upon myself to look at the lock and downloaded a separate app in order to actually unlock it. That separate application which is the Oaks smart lock app let us enter the property to where we could move some things in. On Friday 04/16/2021 we were not able to enter at all. We called multiple times and were given the same answer someone would be coming out. Which nobody did and then received an email stating that maintenance would be coming out on 04/19/2021, from the hours of 12am and gave no given ending time. The main thing that I would like to know is how am I going to be compensated for 3 days of not being able to enter the home that I am renting and that I paid prorated rent for since the 15th.This is incredibly frustrating and honestly am not getting my hopes up for anyone coming out tomorrow. Mainly because of all of the problems already. Main Street Renewal made the process of setting up the lease and paying them fast and easy, but after that I feel as if they do not care about there residents.

Customer service is unresponsive. We have had a water leak issue from either the water heater or AC return for over a week. We have sent several emails without a response. The water is now penetrating through a wall and causing the linoleum to lift. There also appears to be mold buildup around the back of the water heater.

SLUMLORD company that only wants your money! They never fix anything and never reply to your calls. We had no toilets for over 30 days and had to get in touch with a lawyer to finally get a call back and get some work done. Please dont rent from them.In response to your response l. I dont see how 3% of our rent off makes up for over a month of useless plumbing, extreme stress, and inability to use half our house. Please. The service for maintenance calls has improved but when we moved in to our house (which had never previously been rented) there was no hot water and it took them over a week to fix it. They also raise the rent every year and give you a limited amount of time to renew your lease and if you don’t renew it within that time the “rent special” goes up. The home is nice but it’s expensive with no real extra amenities.

This has been the absolute worst rental experience ever! I give them 0 stars but I could not post this on Google without giving at least one star. My property was bought by Mainstreet Renewal from our previous Landlord. At the time of purchase, we were told there would be no changes and everything would continue as it was. 3 months later we were notified we needed to sign a new lease and oh by the way, your rent is going up $275.00. Oh and by the way, we didnt receive your pet deposit in the sale of the property, only your security deposit, so you also owe $400 pet deposit. When I asked about this I was told you can contact your previous landlord and attempt to get the deposit back from them or take them to small claims court. So of course, I attempted to contact them but they have gone out of business so no refund back of deposit. Spoke to the Branch Manager about the situation and was basically told sorry you are still going to be charged. However, none of this is my fault or within my control. I did not ask for the property to be bought nor did I ask for my deposit to be held. No one at Mainstreet seems to care. Second issue is a plumbing leak of which is still going on. My water is running and has been for going on 6 days now. I have had to make over 10 calls to the company to get a plumber out just to be told the plumber has to submit a request because of the amount of the job and it can take another 24-48 hours or longer to get it fixed. Meanhwhile, my water is running and Im told well when you get your bill you can submit a request and then we will issue an invoice and then you can take it to SAWS and hopefully they will adjust the charges. Sorry! I have had to take time out of my job for 3 days now to work on the issue that is out of my control and again Mainstreet does not seem to care. No offer to make it right. No we can credit your account for your pain and suffering. Just, you can do this and this, we cant guarantee anything, we have to follow protocol. Absolutely, the most inconsiderate company I have ever dealt with. I will never rent another property from Mainstreet.
