Our home was started Jan. 2022, and was not completed until feb. 2023. Along the way we notice a lot of flaws and mistakes. We kept bringing the issues up, but nothing was done. AC vent in the middle of our closet, which first they told us “that’s weird, we will look into it” to “that’s how it’s suppose to be.” Dent in the stairs, which is still there. Water goes towards the front door, instead of away from it. Lights that can only be turned on from outside, repairs to fix this are still there and have not been fixed. Walls, windows and our island are crooked. Uneven windows. Water leaks thru the vents when it rains. Tile in master bathroom looks uneven and crooked. AC has a leak in, which we are still trying to get fixed. Unfinished work, to paint falling. Crack all over the house in the stucco. All cabinets were damaged and covered up with sharpie! Pipes were pinched and our master bathroom cabinets were removed to fix it. Four months later and my cabinets are still not installed. A nail went thru a water line and the repairs were done very poorly, we can see where they patched the drywall. No or missed caulking. Garage door is bent. Painter came and accidentally painted my curtains and front door frame. Loose gas line, I mean I can move it with my hand. Tile did not reach the wall, their solution was to make the trim on the bottom wider, not all the way, just half way. You can see the curve. Tile grout in master bathroom are different colors. They had to remove a toilet, because they left a lot of mortar in the pipes. Warped office doors. Little to no communication, and little to no signs of fixing it. I recommend to stay away from Texas homes. This was and has not been a good experience. Bad quality, and bad workmanship for the price. If I could give them zero stars i would.
Marco Cardenas is awesome, he helped me with all my warranties problems and always being so helpful every time. Texas Home has very nice layout design for home, it was for sure looks fancy and upscale, quality wise is just ok for spec home builder somewhat slight better that some builder around the area, but beware some of their subcontractors are the worse specially the one who did my flooring & tile (too bad i forgot their company name) are shady company. I hope Texas home cut their ties with that tile company cause they only bringing texas home quality to the bottom, but the rest of subcontractors that doing my house were great and very much fix everything that wasnt perfect. Building is very stressful thing, and even though it wasnt perfect i would say i am very satisfied in overall of experience (Agave Trace).Texas Home team (Andria Phillips from design, Marco Cardenas from warranty, Nick Shadick the superintendent, Jeff the sales person)were very nice and valuable people that make my experience better even in bad situations so thank yall so much.
We loved Working with Texas-Homes! You can tell everyone we spoke to loved their job. Even the mortgage company/ brokers they recommend was amazing. Minor hiccups with a few vendors. Which was to be expected with a new home. However, warranty claims have been responsive and helpful. Over all we are happy and recommend TX Homes to anyone.
I can’t say enough about Tory Z. in the warranty department. We moved into our new house and a few days later a pipe burst behind the wall leaving a lot of damage. She made something that could have been an enormous headache, and huge source of stress, very manageable and smooth. She is extremely knowledgeable, very responsive and goes above and beyond to have things done right. She is a huge asset to the Texas Homes’ team!
We love our house that we bought from Texas homes, initially we were skeptical because of the ratings but they are really nice to work with and prompt to fix any issues that we have brought up.Over all we are very satisfied with the builder and the house and would recommend the builder to our friends and family.Special kudos and shoutout to our construction manager - Nick ShaddickFoundation’s construction manager - Mr. Rafael andCustomer service manager - Marco Cardenas. These are some of the awesome people we worked with during the pre- and post-construction and move in.
I am very pleased with my Texas Homes house. I only had a few items (doorbell and thermostat) that needed fixing and Marco Cardenas is great and facilitated the minor repairs. He even came to my house to follow up and ensure the work was completed to my satisfaction!!!
Great design and great people to work with. The sales staff is passionate and the warranty staff is responsive - warranty claims are met quickly and redeemed thoroughly. I highly recommend working with Texas Homes!
I just felt like sharing my personal experience with Marco & Tory (Construction & Warranty Coordinators) at Texas Homes! My kitchen cabinet over stove came loose from top & it was resolved with no delay on July 1st-Holiday Weekend.Marco has been a blessing to work with; super professional and honest about timelines for repairs.
Please stay away from TEXAS HOMES , worst experience . 0 employees retention because of that you are on your own building a new house . They changed 3 times site supervisors which lead to poor workmanship. Do not close until you are 100% satisfied. I have such a negative experience poor quality, bad finishing , floors , tiles , cabinets and the list goes on.
Bought my home new in 2012. Ive experienced at least 2 roof leaks, issues with sprinkler system, and defective stucco of which Im addressing via attorney. Water comes in around the windows and now I have water-damaged wood paneling behind the stucco. Really waterproofing seems to be an issue with my home and those of my neighbors. I cant use a treadmill because it trips the breakers unless its in the garage...there was high water pressure issues because the house didnt come with a basic pressure regulator so I had to have that installed for a few hundred bucks. Just way too many issues for a new home really. Too bad because the house is very pretty and the layout is pleasant but the quality of workmanship is just not up to par for what youre paying. I cant recommend buying a home from McMillin or whatever they change their name to next.
Buyer beware. Especially if you’re thinking of buying from Texas Homes in Chandler Crossing. In Dec 2017, we had a leak from our dishwasher that caused water damage inside our island. Someone was sent over to fix a badly installed line to the dishwasher about a week later. The dishwasher was fixed but nothing was done to assess the water damage under the island. To make a long story short we have been trying to get Texas Homes to fix a mold issue since. On 4 Sep 2018, mold was discovered when Kent Moore cabinet repair person was there to replace cabinets damaged from the water. Again waiting for mold issue to be handle. It wasn’t until 24 Sep 2018 that the superintendent return with Kent Moore to run a scope under the island. It was then the superintendent acknowledged the severity of the mold issue. Here it is Oct 18 and we are still waiting for answers for a problem that wouldn’t be if proper maintenance had been done almost a year ago.
If I could give this company zero stars, I would!! SO MANY issues to address...not normal punch list items and they are horribly UNRESPONSIVE. Ive emailed everyone, including the CEO, Ed Berlanga. Most of my second floor is uneven. You can clearly feel where each piece of decking starts and stops, they already creak horribly in multiple locations, and actually flex in spots. They replaced a large section of the decking, but unless I want to remove the furniture from my entire second floor, I have to live with the rest. The carpet was frayed at the edges in multiple locations. Not to mention, I also had to clear the furniture in multiple rooms for this to occur.A 1/3 of the floors was stained with some type of harsh chemical, and they tried to clean it, because they left fingerprints in the chemicals which dried to the floor. I noticed it on the walkthru, but thought the floor was dirty. Additionally, there are cuts/gouges in front of ALL the appliances and the bathroom where there is no furniture. Still, they claimed I caused all the damage and refused to replace the floor. The stair trim was not cut evenly. Some of it was addressed, but one portion cannot be fixed. We paid a huge amount for the wood trim upgrade and it was done so poorly! The texture is grossly uneven and inconsistent throughout (or simply lacking) and multiple protruding clumps of joint compound were left and actually painted over. You can plainly see where they started and stopped and made no attempt to blend or knock down excess joint compound. Gouges were left in the inside most corners throughout because the craftsmans (I use that term loosely) inability to purchase a $10 corner trowel and lack the willingness to sand. The Casita kitchen countertop was so warped that it has completely pulled away from the cabinet and they used a caulk gun to fill in the half-inch gap. Yes, caulk. The countertop was eventually replaced, but not by Texas Homes. The company that installed them did it because they stand by their work. Texas Homes was content to leave them and make it our issue.I have never seen the front door on a residential building open outward, but for some reason our Casita door does. The wind jerks the door out of hands and slams it into the stucco band at an excessive speed, leaving damage to the door and home. More importantly, one of my kids or my disabled father who lives there is going to get knocked out. They refused to fix the door.We paid an extra $5K for the double doors, but it cannot be properly sealed and secured. They did eventually replace the door after multiple failed attempts to fix it.Our window had a MAJOR leak after being in the home for only two weeks, to which the builder replied, this is common with the windows we use. REALLY?Applying silicone, caulk and paint proved to be a VERY difficult task throughout. ALL of the caulk has cracked. We were told the masses of silicon outside the window were intentionally left because of concern they would cut too deep and cause further issues with leaks. Um, ok...Over tightening of light switch covers caused most of them to be warped or uneven. Not to mention, the holes they cut out in the drywall are larger than the light switch covers, so I have holes around all my light switches.Mushy drywall was left by light switches. Our foundation was painted, but they painted it AFTER the mulch and sod was placed so as the mulch pulls away/grass is cut, you see a wavy line where paint does not go all the way down. They chipped the base of the pedestal sink (larger than the size of a quarter), which wouldnt have been so bad, except they attempted to glue the chip back on. We have holes in the hardy board and large masses of concrete on the foundation (not smoothed out properly).I have so many more issues, but there is a character limit on reviews. Also, I have talked to at least 10 of my neighbors who feel the same. Several homes are already for sale in this brand new development. I implore you to look elsewhere for your home!!
This business has been building homes at The Vistas of Sonoma for quite a while now and in that time they have received feedback about issues with both the lack of quality and the lack of attention to detail ie; leaving nails all along the street so that homeowners and others living in the community can deal with ongoing flat tires. They show no response, no remorse, nor try to rectify the situation. I am not surprised to see the consistent feedback about this builder about lack of quality.
My parents trusted McMillen to build them a custom home. however, me and my family now know to never recommend them to anyone because they trashed our yard, drank on the job, and they keep screwing everything up!!! they cant even get the paint right! my family has been dealing with this for about 6 months now and we are tired of it. if you want a quality house that is done correctly the first time, dont ask McMillen!
Mediocre at best.It seems like everyones intentions are good but no one is able to make a decision. There is a whole lot of finger pointing and well let you know something soon that eventually turns into more finger pointing. Their systems are poor at best but still not followed by their employees or contractors. A lot of misrepresentations about what items and upgrades do and/or cover, i.e. alarms, lightning, alarms, sprinklers, etc. Definitely one of the most unorganized and untrustworthy companies to deal with. They do not try to resolve problems or issues like a business. Every issue that arises is filled with long delays, finger pointing, and straight neglect. Record your meetings with Steve & especially at the design center, because when its time to close theyll have you make a list of all of the errors and issues (there will be A LOT). Then, they will tell you all of your issues will be fixed with in a week. The next thing you hear is you need to handle that with the warranty department. Long story short, if you want a $600k KB Home call Texas Homes. If you enjoy conflict, call Texas Homes.
Been in my home for a year and the entire process has been a struggle. The subcontractors trash your property, the workmanship is sketchy, and the warranty work they do after the sale should be criminal. Once they have your money, they could care less about you, or your issues. They have a ticketing system to address warranty work and will close tickets without ever making contact. You will be mad, you will be frustrated, and you will not be pleased with your experience.
Great company! Coming from Pasadena, Ca I couldnt believe that I could buy such a quality home over 3000 square feet for under $300,000. The staff, especially Troy and Steve are amazing. I am so happy the first house I bought was with Mc Millin homes!
We moved into a home built by McMillin and have had nothing but a positive experience all around. Everyone in the sales department, design department, and mortgage company bent over backwards to make the experience as simple as possible for us. Our warranty needs were always met quickly and done with the same high standard we have experienced within the entire company. I would recommend building a McMillian home and have done so with many friends. We simply adore our McMillin home and neighborhood and plan to stay and raise our family in this very spot! Thanks McMillin!!
I love this home builder! The sales reps are extremely helpful and will assist you in finding the perfect home for your needs! The homes and communities are beautiful!
House is 10 years old, Ive been in it for the last 3; by far the worse home Ive owned. Ive owned a 20 year old home and didnt have issues like Ive had with this builder. upstairs AC was undersized (2 ton for 1600 sq ft), all the windows throughout the house have water damage, and roof leaks at multiple locations
Diverse, friendly, safe and well maintained community. Probably the best community in this part of San Antonio. Close to Target, multiple restaurants Elementary/Middle/High schools.
This is a example of the quality you get going with a Texas home.
One of their male workers that drives a Nissan titan white in color w/ a texas home magnet on the driver door is very disrespectful.
Horrible horrible coming from New York, now I know why houses are so cheap!!!!! They suck here bad quality of work. Hire a custome builder what a mistake we made for 600000 !!! Just awful.
Ive heard great things about this home builder. They are very respected in the San Antonio area.
Look no further for a quality built home and a wonderful design experience!
