I recently inquired about the property, 2121 Ella Apartments. The office staff was very helpful and under new management. I was given a tour of the property. While walking through the apartments, I noticed they are very clean and the community, tenants, are friendly. They have an onsite courtesy officer, who Ive seen walking around and interacting with the community. I also wanted to mention the parking lot is well-lit. I feel positive and great about the new management. This place is definitely called Home! I included a few pictures to show how nice and clean this community is.
Couldn’t recommend this place enough. The very few times I’ve had an issue management has responded promptly and professionally. The maintenance guy is always here during the day and responds to requests quickly and has an emergency line for after hours. There is also a courtesy officer on site. The place is clean and residents are friendly. They are serious about towing, but if you and your guests park in the correct spots and register correctly and you won’t have an issue.
Stay in these apartment from 2022-2024 recently moved. In that time frame there has been 2-3 new properties managers that was not communicated to residents of new staff. Then recent they property got a new property staff and under another property management company. Since then they have over charged all of the tenants, haven’t properly communicate any updates for lease. Insurances , and ledger payments. You have to physically hunt down any staff member just to talk to them to get information. Please if you’re looking for an area to move do not live here! I’ve been dealing with an infestation problem since 2023-2024. They keep charging us for pest Control every month when no one comes to spray. I stayed under the peace office of the complex, he is an abuser and I’ve complained countless of times to the office nothing was done. Also they’re over charging for rent when signed lease say another price. They can’t explain or give a breakdown of what they’re charging you for. So unprofessional and unorganized!
The staff are terrific, the building is new, the apartments are well-lit, and the location is superb. The arrangement of the apartment space is also nice. The sound proofing is decent (you cant hear conversations through the walls like at the last place I lived). The management people are really into creating a sense of community and do a good job with that. Message boards, events, etc. The people in the complex are cool, too. Friendly folks with dogs, workout buddies, pool parties, etc. Even during this weird year (2020), Im really happy that Im living here.
I toured the apartments yesterday with my roommate. Teresa was the one who I talked to on the phone and who did the tour. When doing the tour Teresa was extremely rude. When I called Teresa yelled at me over the phone. When I showed up for the tour Teresa was mad I got there at the time we agreed on days prior. People like Teresa shouldnt work if theyre unhappy with their job/life. Apartments are nice but completely turned us off from even considering with such bad management and unprofessionalism. We saw Teresa interact with residents and Teresa was even rude to them.
This complex as of 2025 shows great office management. Always responsive regardless of questions or situations. Very professional & vocal in keeping the community informed.
The pool is nice as are the amenities but the walls here are very thin. Keep an eye on your utilities as they seem to fluctuate quite a bit month to month. It is still nice but could use a fresh coat of paint.
I have lived at 2121 Ella for years and have really enjoyed it. The community is in a fantastic location and is within walking distance of some of Houstons best bars and restaurants. 2121 Ella also has great amenities and a management team that works hard to accommodate its residents. I take a look at additional properties from time to time to get a feel for the market. I renew year over year because 2121 Ella is hands down the absolute best value in the area.
The property manager and her associate are by far the most people person I have ever encountered. They are very welcoming when they are doing their rounds or when you need assistance in the office. Some people always have something to complain about in life. The newly constructed bar neighboring doesn’t get noisy and I live on the side of the bar. The bar manager has someone ensuring people do not park in the apartment parking lot outside or inside the gate. Trash is picked up daily and on schedule and I’ve seen warnings being issued for residents who don’t follow the schedule. I appreciate the notifications and emails that we receive updating us on the apartment community events. Overall, the community is clean, quiet, and safe. Management and staff are amazing. Maintenance stays on top of everything!!!!
The lack of communication of the management is pitiful. It takes 2 to 3 days for any maintenance requests. The office staff does not communicate if a package is left in the office. They just leave it sitting there until you come get it. No phone call to notify you. I have yet to have a phone call/message returned. Nothing. Also, they charge a $40 convenience fee just to pay rent. I currently live here and will not be renewing my lease. They also allow people to store trash on the balconies. For the amount of rent they charge, it is not living up to minimal standards. Also, they may be pet friendly but the bug spray they use to treat for roaches is toxic. When they came to spray my apartment I was told I needed to leave for up to 3 hours with my dogs. Do not recommend!
They have no desire to clean up the dog park and actually make it appeasing to the residents much less repair the open side that was damaged during the tornado about two months ago. New management sucks. They don’t answer the phone and don’t ever seem to be in office. They lack urgency with property repairs with the gate being left open and cars being broken into. The back wall of the complex is nothing but mud with much left to be desired and the drainage is extremely poor.
I lived on the 2nd floor of 2121 Ella Apartments for most of 2020 and was very happy with my time there. The management and maintenance staff were always very helpful to me, especially Brittany, Nicole and Bethany (building management). Amanda, Miguel and Gerber were the maintenance team and they typically responded to requests within 1-3 days. This is the best management and maintenance teams that I have ever worked with!My favorite part about living here was being walking distance to a lot of great places like Tonys and Cavatore. They also host a farmers market during the weekends right in front of Cavatores. The trails are just one block away and you can also get to the bars on 20th street with less than a 10 minute walk.Units come with built in desk set ups and GIANT bathrooms /closets! The personal balconies are also a good size and rather private. Those were my favorite thing about the apartment units themselves.New pool furniture was purchased this summer and they do a very good job keeping that area clean. The community itself is a pretty quiet one. The pool and common areas tend to get busy on Saturdays but other than that its pretty calm. Due to Covid they didnt host many community events but neighbors are rather relaxed and respectful. My only complaints are that theres no real security out the parking lot, the electric grills dont work, and packages are often left at doors so people are missing packages all the time. Over a weekend in September, we had a resident get all four of their tires stolen. The two electric grills outside of the pool area dont work. Our community wall has people posting about missing packages all the time. More often than not, they are able to track them down but still a bit of an inconvenience. All in all, Id recommend living here. :)
Management has gotten everything taken care of within 1 day for me. Skyland has been very helpful so far.I cant give it 5 stars because there are no elevators. But Ive had a good experience so far.
I lived at this property for 3 years. If you would like a job to which you never have to show up, that does not require reading skills, and does not need any critical thinking above a first grade level, I recommend that you apply for a position on the management team at this property.I cannot begin to describe the incompetency of the people that work here. I renewed my lease for 2024 and bought a house soon after my renewal, so I paid my early termination fee per my lease, spoke to management in person, and confirmed all details in writing via email. The following months leading up to my move out, I was over charged by $2300 because of errors in their system. They refused to pay me my money back until everything was accounted for after move out. I left a forwarding address in person (I watched the manager type it in correctly into the system) and confirmed it in an email. After move out, I received a final statement balance that was mailed to the wrong address. Wondering how anyone can be so illiterate, I called the office to have them send it to the correct address. I received an edited balance that had the new address, but it was about $700 less than the correct balance. This began a 6 week slog of calls, emails, voicemails to the office and management company to try to get my money back. There was no response to any of my efforts. I went to the office twice in person - surprise, no one was ever there, even during business hours. It wasnt until I threatened to file a lawsuit that I finally got a call back from management saying that they dont owe me any money since our system didnt catch your renewal, we charged you market rate and month to month. This made zero sense since I renewed my lease and paid an early termination fee; additionally, their failure of a system does not constitute a mistake on my part. When I told them I would be filing a lawsuit the next business day, they finally sent me the check with the correct amount. The business hours for this complex are generally a crapshoot - the hours posted on the sign out front do not match the hours that are listed online. Additionally, the staff generally come late, take a long lunch, and leave early. I would say that about 80% of the time that I physically went to or called the office, there was nobody there and my messages were never returned. Dont bother with emails, about one in ten get a response, and even then it is apparent that they dont read anything in the body of the text. There were multiple times when I sought staff members at 11AM, 2PM, 4PM and all hours in-between, and the doors would be locked. I would often stick around for 30 to 45 minutes at a time in case someone decided to come back - they never did. I often saw others who lived in the complex or wanted to see the complex also get locked out of the office with no management or staff to meet with.Small things, like water in the dispenser in the gym and k-cup pods for the coffee machine are never in stock. In the time that I lived there, the pool turned bright green no less than 5 times, and the City of Houston had to be called at least twice to get them to actually fix it - and they had the audacity to send out passive-aggressive emails about getting reported to the city. While I enjoyed keeping to myself in my small slice of this apartment (the fixtures are relatively new/updated, the maintenance guys are nice, I had a sweet corner unit), nothing is worth the headache any time you have to deal with anything administrative. If you do decide to live here, I recommend keeping record of every lease you sign and email confirmations of any verbal conversations you have. The office staff and leadership here are unprofessional, unresponsive, and unintelligent - but youd have to actually be able to find them first in order to come to that conclusion yourself.
Since the sign of the contract, cooperation has been horrible. 2 cars in household towed due to not clear information. Wasps in trashcan. Broken ice machine. Funky water pressure. Going on week 3 of living here and we STILL do not have the proper keys from management. For how much money is being spent for these apartments is absolutely NOT worth it. Put your money somewhere else. Management did NOTHING about the towing and expects us to pay $70 for a key fob, for PAYING residence. Roommates and I are absolutely not satisfied with what were getting for the price were paying. First full month of rent and we had fees that did not pertain to us, talked to management, now there is a late fee due to their incompetence at 2121 Ella. SAVE YOUR MONEY, THEY DO NOT CARE ENOUGH TO HELP YOU
The absolute worst experience living here. All my packages get stolen because Amazon is only allowed to leave your packages at your front door and anyone has access to get in and out of the complex. I also had a vehicle towed even though is was registered in guest parking and had to pay $279 to get it out and I was told that all I needed was a picture of proof that the vehicle was registered and leasing office failed to help us get our money back. Management is also very rude and dont want to do her job. Dogs also howl and bark all morning and I can literally hear my neighbors conversations and music every night! Dont waste your money moving here!
Trash left outside doors consistently. I keep seeing this one guy never leashes his dog. Residents on first floor smoke consistently. The new bar is very noisy and they customers park in front and inside complex causing parking issues.
I moved in 2 weeks ago my car got towed and asked for help from office they couldn’t do anything I don’t understand how can you pay rent pay everything and have your car towed. Really unprofessional treatment to tenants now having to pay 400$ just for parking spot.
This is my husbands and I first apartment and lets just say it has been a really amazing time. Staff is amazing the property manager Andrea is very helpful and makes sure you feel like home ! She has super nice and makes sure everyone is involved in the apartment events which are fun ! The Maintenance man John has been really helpful and fixes everything on time which has been so helpful aswell.Overall the neighborhood is nice and theres alot of restaurant around for the floor plans we gotthe 1 bedroom is spacious and comfy especially the closet its big !I would totally recommend to a friend or family!
This is an apartment complex in a nice quiet part of town that is centrally located. The apartments are cheaply built and not designed very well. The walls are thin and the floor amplifies the sound so if you have an upstairs neighbor you will hear EVERYTHING. We had a rude upstairs neighbor who let her kid run around, jump on furniture and bang away constantly and it was extremely loud. Management would call them and ask them to stop but ultimately nothing ever improved. Also the water pressure was so low that we could not use our dishwasher. The soap would not wash off the dishes. So we hand washed dishes in the tiny little kitchen sink. The low water pressure also effected the shower pressure. The property has a large pool area and pool that is at the center of the complex. Gym equipment is new and I rarely saw anyone in there. The pool and gym were nice. Management was always super nice.
Dog leash laws aren’t enforced here. I was close to getting bit by a black and white dog whom the owner thinks will never bite anyone! Probably because the fool never seen it attack anyone or another dog yet. Put your pet on a leash goof!
I have been here for 3 years, Ejay has been a terrific property manager, at least one of the best managers we’ve had here. She’s very hands on. Whenever there’s an issue it’s resolved immediately. My husband and I are old and we don’t like very much change, but she has been the best of the best. I thank you guys for having her here.
I’ve been living here for one year I decided to renew my contract for another year because I really like the community here, the previous management (Brittany, Nicole) they were way more professional comparing to the new management. When I renew my contract they say that the animal deposit was 0$ and the animal rent is 10$ per month, we decided to call this morning to let them know that we’re going to have a cat at the apartment and they said they need 350$ deposit and 20$ per month, My wife went to the office and showed her the copy from the lease we signed off on, after 15 minutes of waiting in a very unprofessional and rude way she said that the contract was a mistake. We still had to pay 350$ deposit. How do they expect me to handle a mistake that they signed off on?My second issue I asked soo many times for them to change the a/c thermostat because it’s not working right and they said we can program it to just one temperature (72 F) but we were not going to be able to adjust it that it was going to stay the same temperature.I’m so disappointed with this new management.
I am not one to write bad reviews but when you waste my time and money I will. I do not lease here but the whole application process has been a total NIGHTMARE.I applied last week and was approved only with conditions per Natasha (leasing agent). She stated the conditions were for me to pay a $200 risk fee that was regarding a fraud alert on my credit. I asked what the fraud alert was because I didn’t see any of that on my credit. I didn’t hear back from her Friday, Saturday, and Monday. I had to call in order to get answer. Natasha said it was a fee I had to pay and would get it at the end of my lease. Still never answered my question. I emailed the PM Monday night. Didn’t get a response u til I called Tuesday afternoon which Ejay (PM) answered. She advised me she’ll look at my application and cal me back. She returns my call and now says the risk fee is bc I don’t have enough credit and it’s my first time renting an apartment. I asked if i don’t pay this risk fee then I’m not approved correct? she said yes but you are approved. She seen where I was going with this and said i cannot get a refund when i did not ask for one yet. I advised her I couldn’t lease her bc i don’t want to pay the risk fee which would make me not approved. She emailed me now saying that they can waive the risk fee. I told her I was not comfortable leasing here and would like the $150 admin fee I paid. She said everything was non refundable. I advised to show me where it states about the $150 admin fee not being refundable because it only shows the $50 application fee not being refunded which i understand. I have emailed and called and still have not heard anything. DO NOT LEASE HERE! They will charge you different fees that they can’t even tell you exactly what it is.Update guys! I had a Bridget who is over this property reach out to me. She refunded me the $150 admin fee! Thank you Bridget!!
This is it! If your looking for an apartment inside the loop, this property is a great value. Having all new appliances including a washer and dryer inside each unit , wow! i have a one bedroom, 9 ceilings, modern flooring, patio, secured entry and exit. I was all settled in withing 2 days of my application, Kara is the manager of this property, with her assistants Catherine and Gary, This team is incredible! I feel at home here, If your a party animal you may want to look elsewhere, a nice quiet property with young professionals who are taking advantage of this amazing location.bill
Coming here to edit this review. I enjoyed living here until the new management has arrived. New rules over basically everything and a horrendous transition. New management company appears to be massively incompetent. I have been a resident for 4 years and will be moving.
I lived at 2121 Ella for one year, it was the best experience Ive ever had with any type of management/leasing/apartments. The management was always attentive and always made sure the residents were accommodated with what they needed. We only had one minor issue while we lived here with an electrical outlet and it was fixed within HOURS. The management at 2121 Ella sincerely care for their residents, Kara Brown, Catherine Scott, Brittany Rushing are amazing people and if I were to ever move back into an apartment I would move into one of their properties. These ladies went above and beyond for me and helped me more than I can put into writing. I sincerely thank the management for their five star efforts in helping their residents and their wonderful customer service, I will never forget these people.
DO NOT CONSIDER SIGNING A LEASE HERE!!!Come move in day, that apartment you were shown, decided to move forward with, placed a deposit on, and have A CONFIRMED MOVE-IN DATE… WILL NOT BE READY FOR MOVE-IN. Keep in mind this was a known move in-date for well over 2+ weeks which allowed ample amount of time for the rental company to get the apartment ‘move-in’ ready. This is fully due to a highly incompetent individual - Andrea. She not only failed to proactively and timely schedule the carpet replacement for the apartment that had a deposit and E-signed lease, she waited until 72 hours before the move-in date before Easter.Andrea is an individual who could care less about making things right, REFUSES TO TAKE ANY ACCOUNTABILITY AND WILL DEFLECT HER ERRORS BY BLAMING YOU FOR THEM.THIS PROPERTY HAS ABSOLUTELY ZERO BUSINESS BEING IN THE RENTAL INDUSTRY.
Lived here for 6 months and couldn’t be more happy with my stay. The apartment complex employees are friendly, organized, and responsive. The apartments are really nice and spacious (2 bedroom). It’s in a great location also! Right by the bayou pathway and a few minutes from all the action in the Heights. Highly recommend.
On June 2021 we decided to bring a pet home, the lease that we had signed said no pet fee deposit, New Company came and said we had to pay 300$ pet deposit that was refundable. Which we paid even though our contract that we signed on said 0$. We finished our lease, never got our 300$ refunded back .I contact the current manager to ask why we haven’t received the deposit she said that’s this money was pet fee. I explained to her what the previous manager told me, that it was refundable deposit , the manger said you should of asked the previous manager to edit the contract and have a copy of it.How come she’s telling me what to tell the manager what to do??She said that the previous manager didn’t know how to do her job“But I know how to do mines” is what the current manager said.As a resident why do I have to carry this unprofessionalism??
I would have to say I am very satisfied with Ella Apartments. I moved here about 6 months ago and it is a very laid back, quiet, and a clean community. Everyone is very nice and the leasing office as well as maintenance are always so helpful and understanding. Reanna Knisley and Fran Rivers are wonderful leasing managers and are always on task. Thank y’all for everything. I would highly recommend 2121 Ella Apartments. A great location in the heights , new, and very clean.
This is the best apartment complex I have ever had to deal with. Ejay is the best she worked with me when an issue arose and she didnt have to but went out of her way to accommodate me.
These apartments are super cozy & small-community based. Every apartment has a patio either facing into the pool or out, everything is brand new, huge tubs and closets, modern lighting and flooring. The manager, Kara, is extremely helpful and polite. She knows the area well enough to give some guidance in places nearby to take advantage of & allowed me to pick the exact apartment I wanted to lease instead of simply looking at the floor model. Great location 10-15 minutes away from everything Houston (downtown, midtown, uptown, medical center, memorial city) & 3-5 minutes away from a multitude of Houston Heights favorites (Torchys, FatCat Creamery, Hugs&Donuts, The Barking Pig). Nice dog area for your little guys to run. Everyone Ive run into who lives here is friendly and respectful of their neighbors. Gym is never overcrowded. Lovely place for people of all ages to lease for an affordable price for great quality apartments.
I went to do a self guided tour. The directions were difficult to follow and when I arrived to the used there was someone living there. This raises many security issues for me and should for the residents living there.
If you like to grill outdoors these apartments arent for you. Ive told Management several times that the grills dont work, Their response was they work they just have a trick to it. Also these are the first apartments that I have lived where they have electric grills. Ive ask on the residential portal online if I can have an electric grill on my patio since their grills never work and my post was never approved on the community wall by management.
I have lived at these apartments for over a year and I have had a great time. The management takes care of any issues right away and they often host events to promote community interaction. Highly recommended area to live.
Went by leasing office this morning and it was not open even though their hours said they would be open.. zero parking for residents! So many other great places to stay in the area, DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I have lived here for 1 year and really enjoyed it. The management is very nice and helpful and they do their best to make you feel at home. Any issues or service requests are handled promptly (but we almost never had any since the property is still pretty new). Awesome area too. I was very happy here.
Only issues I have with 2121 is package delivery, typically packages are left at the front door of your apartment, and the dog park. There is a lot of Dog poop from owners who do not pickup after their dogs in the park and the side doors are typically left open to the park by lazy residents.
So I recently got my vehicle towed from my RESERVED PARKING SPOT that I pay $20 a month for. Now at NO time since Ive been living in the complex did I get a PARKING PERMIT STICKER. So of course i brought it up to management AND OF COURSE they tell me that they cant apply that $300 tow fee toward my rent BECAUSE there was a piece of paper in my file stating that i recieved reserved parking when I moved in, Which only proves that I have been paying for reserved parking since Ive lived here, NOT THAT I RECIVED A PARKING STICKER. Now Ive been calling trying to my $300 applied toward my rent for 2 weeks now. Now I just got another car 2 months ago I called into the office and asked the receptionist( the guy) if I needed to bring in my new car to get it registered for a sticker HE TOLD ME NO WE DONT DO STICKERS JUST THE RESERVED PARKING. So u can understand my frustration when I walk outside and my car has been towed. So while Im in the office talking to management about trying to get my money back shes pretty much giving me the run around. Then outta nowhere the receptionist gives me this piece of paper that he wants me to give him my vehicle info like make, model, license etc for the reserved parking permit sticker. So I ask her SHOW ME THIS EXACT PIECE OF PAPER IN MY FILE THAT I SIGNED WHEN I INITIALLY MOVED IN PROVING THAT I WAS GIVING A STICKER FOR MY CAR WHEN I MOVED IN. So what this boils down too is they dont want to apply the credit toward my rent even though they know they were wrong for not properly notifying the residents of the tow enforcement. Hell their are residents that I talked too that didnt even know about this whole thing. And the funny part is while Im talking to the receptionist he tells me that since this while tow thing went into effect WEVE BEEN HAVING SO MANY ISSUES.
Great place to live! Everyone is very friendly and amazing. Natasha was a great help to us with everything , very attentive and informative. Would very much recommend to anyone looking for a new place to move into
The lady Ejay in the front is soooo rude. My friend lives here and I have seen her being so disrespectful to the residents here. You know it’s bad when someone who doesn’t even live in Houston speaks up.
I have to say the staff here is great! Everyone from the office to the maintenance guys! They property is very well kept and anytime I have questions or concerns they girls in the office are always very helpful. This is a wonderful place to live and Im excited to be a part of such a great community!!
The area is nice but not worth $1300. The empty parking lot speaks for itself...nobody wants to rent here for over $1000 a month. Indio Mgmt. essentially treated me like another number. If you speak Spanish or any other foreign language...dont even think about renting here.
The staff agents are unprofessional and will feed you false information. Never lease or even attempt to lease! Save your money and time else where! -1 star should’ve been an option.
Beautiful spacious floor plans, absolutely love this place will be moving in soon! Thank you Mrs Nicole was great helping me find the perfect home for us you made everything very easy.
Lived there for 1.5 years and enjoyed it. Apartments are beautiful and new. I lived on the 3rd floor (top) and never had an issue with noise. Sad to be leaving!
Just signed my 3rd - 12 month lease with 2121 Ella. The management team is great and always helpful. I love that its a small community and pretty quiet.
Applied here and they did a hard credit check query. If you do that without my authorization you will get a one-star review. Thanks.
Ejay is amazing at her job. . She made my move so easy ! Thank you .
Have spoken with the new young lady named Taylor. She is phenomenal. So sweet, her energy is unmatched.
Do not recommend. Very disappointed with the incompetent customer service. Agents should be more knowledgeable and helpful to future/current residents.
This property has been the best apartment living experience I have had. Thanks to Kara and the team.
Excellent residential complex, Excellent service and always smiling staff I would recommend it.
Great location! the management team cares and is always helpful, Kara is the best!
Great place to live
I could not be happier with 2121 Ella. I very much appreciate Crystal’s professionalism, she’s honest and trustworthy. The amount of patience she has truly amazes me. She helped me with my process for the apartment which I’m so thankful 🙏😌 and now I’m looking forward to my new place 🥰
Excellent place to live. I recommend it.
