I generally like living here. Its usually a quiet and peaceful place to live. I like having central air/heat, a dishwasher and a great terrace view. Maintenance calls are generally responded to right away. The people that work in the office and the front desk are friendly and do their best to get things done and make this a better place to live. I do, however, have a chronic roach problem that seems to be best controlled with glue traps.

I toured the apartments today. I havent made a decision yet , but wanted to share what I saw that is not mentioned on the website.ProThe views are great. The Floorplan I looked at (Fannin) had a large living room. I was impressed that they had a indoor basketball court. The property is one block away from a Metro Rail station so it is great for those that work in Med Center. The leasing ladies were very nice and helpful. They usually stick with appointments , but worked me in when I was a walk-in.Lastly, I saw the show apartment and the actual apartment I would get if I rented and I saw no sign of bugs or roaches in both and didnt see any in hallways or elevators. So Im not sure about the roach reviews, but I didnt see any signs of infestation.Cons1. The bedrooms are small. If you have a king size bed there will probably not be much room for a dresser in your bedroom also. The picture they advertise with a dresser is a Queen size bed.2. The bathrooms are also small and there is no counter. There is one tiny cabinet for towels ,but thats it. There is no counter or cabinets to store makeup etc.3. In the show room apartment they have a modern sink in the kitchen. Do not let this fool you because that is not what they have in any Floorplan. I noticed when I toured my actual apartment. The sink was older. The Big Cons1. There is no washer and dryer in any unit except for the Capitol Floorplan, which I already knew beforehand. What i didnt like though is that the laundromat they have on site is very small. I would guess there was prob 10 washers and 10 dryers and thats for the ENTIRE building. I cant imagine the battle of open spots for doing laundry.2. There is no visitor parking whatsoever. There is also no reserved parking whatsoever for residents. The parking garage is first come first served. Any visitors you have will have to find public street parking in downtown.

The ROACHES!!!!!! I cannot express enough how absolutely disgusting and miserable my partner and I are because of the roaches we have to deal with while living here. They’re only getting worse. They are everywhere big ones medium and small babies. No roach spray works on them it’s like they are immune. Every month we are being charged for pest control but everyone in the building has them (roaches). It’s so hard to cook I can’t leave my food for 5 secs without them crawling out of spaces and crevices ( behind appliances) to get in my food. I can’t even have company over because the roaches are so bad. I never leave food out and they still manage to crawl all over my kitchen counters and appliances. They are even in the bathroom!!! I really wish they would go away… it’s affecting my sanity.

I went to look at these apartments and drove into the garage it was dark and creepy. Then when I went to the lobby I waited there for 40 minutes just to be told I had to make an appointment to view an apartment. Now I’m glad that happened because by the reviews people have been complaining about roaches 🪳 for years!!!! There is no reason why they haven’t fixed the pest problem by now. Yeah definitely not renting here.

The leasing agents really suck here. Today it was a car that got all of its wheels stolen literally infront of the building. Later on this afternoon it’s a car stuck on the ramp to get in the parking garage. I tell the leasing agent he says it’s getting towed no recommendations of where to park or anything just went back to what he was doing. Yesterday I got stuck on the balcony from faulty latch coming down while I was on the balcony. I left 2 voicemail because ofc nobody answered and absolutely no response. Overall the place is very outdated parking garage/elevator entrance is very SKETCHY. Elevators are filthy. Everything is pretty much just painted & glossed over. If you looking for affordable place downtown this is it. It’s plenty of other affordable apts downtown make this your last option! Mind you this apt doesn’t even come with a microwave or washer & dryer in unit.

This is getting out of hand, there’s parties every single night on the 19th floor, currently right now. Screaming, slamming on doors, fighting with each other, skating and running around the hallways, and blasting music. It is actually TERRIBLE, it’s currently midnight and this has been going on for over an hour. We called security and they have yet to show up. We believe it’s more than one apartment, 1911 and 1912 right across from each other. Not to mention they leave their trash everywhere. I feel bad for the dog that lives with them.

So far horrible experience…. I tried last week to stop by and they only do appts for showings… so I booked one for today at 3p. The lady barely acknowledged me for help with parking. She took others for a tour and I’m still sitting here at 3:30pm waiting for her to return so I can look at a place, even though I had an appointment for 3p. Ridiculous…. Oh, and she isn’t even nice. While sitting in the lobby, multiple potential renters came in looking to view an apartment as a walk in and I explained my situation and they left. Greystar, if you want to lease this place, I’d recommend two people on Saturdays.I asked to use a phone charger while I wait for her to return, and she said no and then made a rude comment to those she showed the place under her breath. But yet, I still remain because I’ve been curious. When she got back down, she was VERY rude to an Instacart worker then complained to me about how “unprofessional” the worker was when the leasing agent is the one who is unprofessional by being so rude to her.Oh, and they NEVER answer the phone. Greystar: Get it together….. I’ve seen you do so much better with other properties. Either help her out with someone on Saturdays or get rid of her.

The Building is filled with Roaches, the air conditioning and heating goes out CONSTANTLY. Half of the washing machines and dryers do not work and management doesnt fix them for months. The gym is in horrible shape with the tenants stealing the weights from there. The outside of the building constantly smells like urine and there are homeless people camping around the building year around as management does not do anything about it. WORST PLACE I HAVE LIVED AT!! luxury high rise living indeed.

ROACHES EVERYWHERE. Nothing is being done about the roach infestation. I’ve tried speaking to the MANAGER himself and Never got a call back. I’m at my breaking point. Im literally in tears writing this. I have not even unpacked my belongings (I’ve been moved in for 11 days now) because the roaches are coming from everywhere. There’s roach droppings and eggs behind my kitchen appliances. They are going in my dogs food, I can’t even cook or let my food cool down because they will crawl out from all over. They are even coming out of the sink. IUPDATE: Put in a request for cleaning the roach SH!T and old food droppings from behind and off of my appliances and I watched them on camera as they swept and did not actually clean, told the manager to please make sure they are doing more than just sweeping or at least leave, my appliances pushed out so that I could clean it myself….. NOTHING. At this point I don’t care if I’m coming off as rude or “too much”. I don’t understand what’s so hard about being a decent person or at least doing a halfway decent job with what you’re getting paid to do. I added two photos of my appliances after the “supposed cleaning”. I’m utterly disgusted with this apartment building.

This place is just straight up nasty from the infestation of roaches all the way down to the nasty conditions of the elevator hallways of the parking garage and Homeless people living in the staircase. Living here has been a complete nightmare. There were so many strangers that didn’t live in the actual apartment building coming in and out using the the pool and basketball court that the management had to send out an email regarding the issue! There were so many times were I had to literally to take take the stairs from the 17th floor all the way down to the first floor due to the elevators not working! The worst part is the move out process! I had spoken to Debby like 3 months prior to moving out and all she said was to let her know when I was going to be needing maintenance elevator so I can schedule a time and 3 weeks before my lease is up I let her know that I will be needing the elevator she tells me that I have to send an email letting them know I will be moving after I had already talk to her and letting her I would be moving months prior to that and she didn’t mention anything about sending an email. Now they are charging me 2 months worth of rent for not sending an email 2 month prior of moving out which I’m currently fighting to get removed! Management here should be Q&A and audited!! By far the worst apartment experience I’ve ever had! DONT MOVE HERE!!!!!

DO NOT rent here. Ive lived here for 2 months and in those months Ive:- Had to get an exterminator multiple times- Have mildew removed (over $1000 in damages to my personal items, some of those items cant be replace - which the property manager didnt care about)- My trash hasnt been picked up for 2 weeks+ (I take it out myself, again the property manager didnt address this issue)- Found large bugs and roaches at the door of the elevator- Walked into pee and vomit filled elevators- Had to get my tub bathroom faucet replaced (because of limescale buildup)- Personally deep clean my facets because of the limescale build up-Personally deep clean the balcony doors (because of bugs and it not working properly)Sidebar: The elevators typically smell like vomit.I think the majority of the people who work at the property are nice enough, but this is absolutely ridiculous! The property manager barely gives a damn and likes to mansplain the messed up stuff that happens in the units. Again, IVE BEEN HERE FOR 2 WHOLE MONTHS and all of this has happened.Do.Not.Rent.Here.

Let me just say, they don’t clean at all in this building. When I got my keys & went to my apartment, you could tell they didn’t clean after the last tenant. The floor was not swept/mopped. All door handles were visually filthy. There was old urine stains on the toilet. Grease stain on the stove. Thermostat has old fingerprints, etc. they don’t do any updates as far as faucets, shower head & window frames. They widow frames has old duck tape residue & paint was chipped. The common areas are extremely dirty! The parking garage and elevator areas look as if they never had been cleaned before. For the amount we’re paying to live here you would think they could at least hire a cleaning crew to clean the common areas. It’s honestly really gross and kinda of a health issue. Please clean the common areas (Elevators, hallways, amenities & parking garage). Thank you.

Thanks for all the reviews! They most probably saved us lots of time and headache 😞! The managements responses were specially really helpful for us to decide not to rent at this place. In one occasion, they tried to blame the residents for the fact that they failed to fix the gate; and in another they implied that you should accept to have roaches crawling on your face while sleeping because you are paying reasonable prices for high-rise living! Its unbelievable how little amount of money 💰 can make some of us to become so insensitive to others and treat them as second class humans.

THIS PLACE IS A MESS!!!!Deibra concierge has an attitude nor does she ever pick up the phone or emails back on time.I had to go there PHYSICALY in person each time to get my moving process going! Then she just rushes you and sums it up on how they’re always short on staff. Every. Time. It’s highly time consuming and stressful working with her and her attitude certainly doesn’t help.Even then their system is always slow and has an issue.I wasn’t able to pay my first month moving in rent the other gentlemen that was the manager as wellCan’t recall his name he was very kind trying everyway to help me out had to reset my password and account like 4 times and he was asking jimmy if he can help and all he said “ it should have no issues” as he continued doing his computer work.Didn’t even bother to come check or try to help see if he can even help. I ended up wasting 4 hrs in the office getting to no where while I should’ve been in the process of moving.I was asked to get a cashiers check which is 2024!!Any solid system should be able to draft money out of my account for me to move in.I was very frustrated and I asked for my documents back and my refund. With this complex I say please believe the reviews save your time and money & apply somewhere else.THEIR A MESS!

I’m leaving a review on the reviews! Sheesh, I’m so thankful God ordered my steps and did not allow me to reside here when I moved to Houston. I toured several apartments here with staff and had this eerie feeling. The photos online and excitement for living downtown is what draws one in and once that lease is signed, it appears to be a nightmare. Thankful for the leading of the Holy Spirit. I cannot do roaches. And for management to just say “please contact us at this number…” is a bandaid at most. DO something. The person’s review has already told you what you needed to know. Act on that. It’s concerning that nearly every review says the same thing. Hang in there everyone! And know your tenant rights!

Where to begin… If you want to live in the projects then this is the place for you. The building is infested with roaches everywhere. After only being there for 5 months and endless amounts of pest control treatments, my apartment was still consumed by roaches. Being awaken by them crawling on my face in my sleep! On top of the sketchy parking infrastructure with poor lighting quality. Once you find parking amongst the abandon cars and numerous vehicles that don’t even live at the property, you have to enter the elevators in an area that’s not fully secured. No cameras anywhere in the garage that always have homeless roaming throughout because the gates never work! Doors don’t lock and it’s dirty, smelly and full of trash. Then to get on. A elevator that smells of dog urine to get to your floor that’s smells of marijuana. The building is poorly ventilated so, whatever the neighbors are cooking or smoking in their apartment yours will be filled with that odor too. Loud music all times of the day and putting in complaints about it does nothing at all. Concierge service that should be nonexistent because they do absolutely nothing. You have to come down to let every guest in or to pick up anything you order from third party delivery companies. This property is something that you see on a movie. New York project housing but I am sure worse. Lord forbid you are late with rent because that’s when they get into action. If the same energy was put into collecting rent and posting late notices then maybe this place could be better. I wouldn’t recommend anyone living here at all. It isn’t worth the money at all and the staff there is meh…. I wish I could give them negative 0. After only being there 5 months I couldn’t take anymore or sharing a studio with roaches that wasn’t even putting in on rent! Typical Greystar behavior. All they care about is money!

I was extremely excited to move into my very first apartment downtown and yet I can never receive any sort of communication from the leasing agents when it comes to my apartment being INFESTED by roaches. I am also paying for pest control and maintenance fees monthly but maintenance has never stepped forth in my apartment once since I’ve been here, even after several maintenance requests that I’ve put online and they somehow get canceled. My experience at Houston House has been mixed. I’ll try to be as detailed as I can. Let’s start with the the good. Pound for pound, this is the best value you will get in the entire 610 Loop. Views are incredible, balconies are big, and the apartments have plenty of light, are laid out well, and are spacious with the exception of the bathroom. The location is the entire reason to live here. I love being so close to the Metro rail and all the different places in the city and when events and concerts come it’s always super easy to get there. For the most part, the staff and residents are friendly. Michael in leasing made my move in experience painless. The concierge people are also generally pleasant and helpful. I’ve never felt unsafe in the garage which is very well lit at night or walking around the building. So far I have not seen any car vandalism and the gates now work. The building is as secure as it can be. Now for the areas for improvement. The bug problem people write about is true. They’re everywhere. Not roaches, but smaller bugs. Also the constant construction has been draining and a hassle. My AC unit is so loud it drives me crazy. Maintenance isn’t the most polite or timely. It smells like urine by the door to the lobby every time I pass it which is a terrible first impression. And the gym is very dated. The pool area doesn’t appear to be well maintained either. There are always weird smells.. whether in the elevator, waiting areas in the garage, the hallway, the stairs. Lastly, the business center has no computers or printers. As someone who’s lived in luxury apartments in the suburbs, it has been an adjustment. But I have no regrets. I enjoy the city life and I have always felt safe here and respected as a resident. And if you have a dream of living downtown at an affordable price, I definitely recommend Houston House.

I felt like I was walking through the New York projects that I hear in rap songs. Starting off with the parking structure. You need a parking pass to open the gate, OK but the gate is not always close, so anybody can drive in the parking structure to do God knows what. The exit gate is always open and I’ve had a car come in and almost hit me head on. I take it they didn’t have their parking pass to get into the regular gate and decided to use the exit instead. Now that you finally found a parking space amongst all of the abandoned cars that’s taking up spaces for actual residents, you now have to find a door that has a handle on it for you to actually open to get inside of the elevator room. You have now arrived inside of the elevator room that screams horror movie. Dark with light fixtures hanging from the ceiling and paint coming off of the doors and walls. Finally, you have made it to your floor, the elevator doors open and you’re greeted by carpet that is covered in dirt stains and God knows what. Honestly for the price they’re charging it’s absolutely ridiculous and actually embarrassing to have company come to my apartment. Houston houses you need to do better by your residents.Update: A lot of upgrades have happened since my review. Thank you.

I wanted to bring this matter to your attention so that appropriate action can be taken by upper management in the future if needed.I have documented the details of the incident for your reference and would like someone from upper management to contact me as soon as possible. DO NOT APPLY ONLINE! LEASING CONSISTENTLY LIES ABOUT AVAILABLE UNITS TO GET YOUR APPLICATION MONEY!!!!Greystar and Houston House are predatory. They have lied to myself, as well as a friend about available units. Online I selected a unit, payed to apply for THAT SPECIFIC UNIT, then received a call saying it was not available but they have another one available for a higher price. They then offered a different unit and price matched. I have a temp ID, my birth certificate, and SS card. They literally logged into my bank account to verify that I made enough. Once I asked about my temp ID, I then had issues getting a clear answer from leasing. The leasing manager canceled my application without me initiating it and said I’d get a partial refund.I said I didn’t want to cancel my application then somehow it was “denied”. Yet the leasing manager said the application can’t even be sent to manager for processing or approval until I submitted my ID…so how was it even sent over to the manager to be denied? Deborah (manager) has lied to me, as this is contradictory. Please look at the low reviews for a “luxury” place. Deborah has been there 20 years and the reviews are still trash, so I assume she is a huge issue overall. The leasing manager, Deborah and James, were very rude and incompetent. I have lived here for a little over 2 years combined; initially as a freshman in college, then returned in my senior year. I have loved living here, Debby is a fantastic leasing agent to work with; busy, but fantastic nonetheless. The property manager and assistant manager will work with you as long as you communicate with them and are pretty accommodating. Front desk concierges are wonderful as well. Maintenance is fairly quick and very kind. Most of the issues that have been addressed in other reviews are caused by residents, if Im being honest. Except for construction noise of course. However, this is one of Houstons oldest high rise buildings, if it wasnt being constructed and renovated on, Id be concerned. And lastly, the prices are amazing! Why people complain so much in the reviews is beyond me. I am an easily irritated person and hard to please, so believe I am not sugarcoating my experience here. Dont let the reviews scare you. I have been here for 1 month and my car has been broken into SEVEN times now. I love my unit and the workers are nice but it’s very disappointing to know my car is not safe here and there is no action being taken from the owners of Houston House to make this place more secure. The homeless is living in the stairwells and no door locks have been repaired or changed to keep them out because they keep getting in, I even found one of them in my car out of the seven times. I have numerous police reports that i have to take the time to do back to back because of this issue. All I got is sympathy for what is happening to me but sadly sympathy is not going to keep the thieves from breaking in my car OR repair my car window. They spent so much money on remodeling the outside when then investment should have been towards security. If you value your car…don’t move here.

I moved in 2011 in the midst of the complete renovation. Nearly everything was completely redone from floor to ceiling. Since them the pool & 9th floor rooftop patio, parking garage, and elevators have been redone. Its obvious the owners have put a lot into the building. What I like most is my large private balcony with a stunning view of downtown Houston! My apartment has all the upgrades like granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors throughout and tile in the bathroom. The only downside, in my opinion , is not having a washer & dryer in the units and the laundry room is not large enough and at least one or more is usually out of order at any given time.  Otherwise my experience has been great. There is also 24 hour concierge service at the front door which is a huge plus. Ask for Debbie when you call or visit, because she is terrific! She helped me when I moved in and again when I wanted to change apartments. She knows the building and she really goes the extra mile. Management could be more responsive. The handful of times i have had to call maintenance,  they were prompt and efficient. And its one of the best values you can get in downtown. Look around and youll see for yourself. One has to keep in mind that this is an older, historic building and, but when I saw the negative reviews I wanted to share my experience. Its the best value in downtown.

I am currently a resident here. I am not leaving a review or complaint. Im just suggesting an idea in hopes that corporate will receive this. EVERYDAY, literally every day my car is being broken into while parked in the parking garage. I’ve even had my window smashed. It’s becoming so bad to the point that loose change, hand sanitizer, and anything that can be found is being taken out of my car. Random trash is even being dumped into my car. Homeless people are sleeping in our cars and in the stairwells. This is not safe! I am very aware of the area we are in and I am not pointing fingers at HH. The gates have not worked since I have moved in due to parts being delayed (what I was told by management). I think around $5-$10 added on to everyone’s rent to hire a security service to monitor the parking lot would be a huge help! I hear residents complaining everyday in the elevator about their windows being smashed and car broken into and a lot of people are very upset including myself. I’m sure everyone would be willing to pay an extra $5-$10 a month instead of $250 to replace a window.

NEVER visited this place, but reading the reviews, with 2.7 (2 1/2) rating out of 5 stars, I wouldn’t recommend anyone decide to make this their place of residence!! 👎🏻👎🏻Update: I am “also” in Property Management, so I know a lot more about the industry than someone who isn’t. My opinion isn’t based on the “Reviews”’, or the “visual upgrades” that have been, or are being done! It’s ALL about the “prospective” resident(s) and “their experiences AND opinions” Upgrades, in some circumstances,”not all” (HIDE, COVER-UP) the imperfections!, and I am “not” suggesting that in this case! Some properties just don’t care…while others do, and it shows!

I recently renewed my lease for another year and rate my experience here as positive. There have been some nuances which I attribute to the age of the building. Since moving in, the pool deck has been renovated, the parking garage renovated, and the trash program revamped, all of which has caused some minor inconvenience. That being said, and after shopping around, I still believe its the best deal for the dollar Downtown. The Staff is attentive and helpful. Theres a restaurant downstairs with great food and lots of essential sundry items. Location to Downtown and transportation is great, and the view from my patio is awesome.Leasing Agent Debbie OBrien is exceptional. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to assist with issues that are not necessarily her responsibility, a real pro. Ownership is lucky to have somebody of this caliber on staff.Id recommend anybody who is shopping for a place to live to tour The Houston House.

Debbie was great! I’ve been looking at this property for quite awhile now, and I was somewhat impressed. They’ve been renovating their exterior for about 3 years, though they are continuing to make the community better, I feel they should communicate to residents that there will be further renovations for possibly another year, in my opinion. If you are looking for something affordable and efficient, I would highly suggest this property!

I have to say that Debbie O’Brien did a great job helping us transition to our new place. Being a realtor myself, it is not an easy job and her being a leasing specialist is even more intense. She showed us the rooms and we settled on “The Fannin,” the largest one-bedroom apartment with a wonderful corner view patio that overlooks the city. She went above and beyond to help me get my application approved as I was needing additional documents. Even better, she recommended movers that ended up costing me half as much as my quote with another company. She is very knowledgeable and can always be reached onsite. She even thought ahead and helped us reserve the freight elevator in time for our movers. Also, everyone we have met has been nice and I have not seen any disgruntled tenants. This is a very peaceful place to live so come check it out.

The view is great, the apt is ok and I understand some issues. However, the noise here is terrible, if you work at your office 8-5 then its fine, but if you stay during the weekday, the noise from construction gonna blow you off. There is no balcony or any exhaust fan even in the bathroom. They gonna promise you construction would be done real soon, but its been a year. If you like the view and work 8-5pm at work then this is great for you with reasonable price.Update 07/2021, they have construction in the weekend too lol

This apartment complex is terrible. The view of downtown might be nice, but literally nothing else about this place is.Maintenance here is pretty much nonexistent. The door to my balcony has been broken since the second month of my lease. At first it was jammed, and they unjammed it four months after my initial complaint that it was broken. However, the lock is still broken which they said they would come back to repair but never did. The lock has been for broken two months- this i a major safety concern as the balconies are connected. Additionally, my garbage disposal broke with rotting meat stuck in it and it stayed broken for two months. There were also giant gross water stains from a problem in the unit above me that appeared in two rooms of the apartment that took me reaching out twice to them over a month time span to come repaint the ceilings. I have reached out to maintenance so many times about all of this issues and i almost never even receive a response.A lot of the time at least one elevator is down for maintenance causing overcrowding and long elevator waits. Also, wouldn’t recommend this complex if you have children as the elevators/hallways often smell like weed. The garage is gated but robbers have snuck in and broken in to cars, my roommate’s back window was shattered and items in her car were stolen. Additionally, in the garage some of the doors to the elevators are unlocked, meaning anyone can access the main staircase of the building and go to any floor. The most annoying issue i have had with this building is the constant construction sounds. Their current project is redoing all of the balconies, which as you could imagine has created extremely annoying and loud construction noises starting at 9 AM every weekday and every Saturday each week that they missed a day due to weather. The noise is obnoxious and wakes you up from your sleep. If you are a student that doesn’t have class every day of the week like me, you can forget about ever sleeping in the noises are unbearable. I can’t even get work done in my apartment until after construction is over for the day because the drills and hammering are so loud. There is also a terrible cockroach problem. There are always roaches in our bathrooms and kitchen, it’s disgusting. When someone came to “spray” for roaches, they literally came in for less than one minute, didn’t spray anything, and left.Overall i have absolutely hated living here and highly do NOT recommend. People seriously need to stop reviewing before even moving in. I thought it’d be great too, but was SEVERELY disappointed and regret moving here.

Ive lived here a year and have had my maintenance issues handled quickly. Hot water went out for less than a day once. Leaking window was fixed when the entire buildings windows were checked. My new appliances are cheap but new, attractive, and work. The apartment is attractive and in good condition. All staff have been professional and courteous. The price to quality ratio is good, the view is incredible, the light rail stop is close, a cab to anywhere is 6$. Oh, Ive never seen a roach here, but I tend to wash my dishes and take out the trash. The common areas are usually clean, but some people litter. Im not giving a 5 star because the laundry room is insufficient and the laundry service has bad turn around time. Also, the elevators are insufficient and the elevator waiting areas are ugly. Do not take the roach reviews lightly. They are very much real and infested. I see them in the apt, in the gym, and in the common areas, especially outside at night. I dropped my phone the other day in the hallway and screamed when I went to pick it up because I saw a roach scrambling across the carpet. BEWARE. There are many other properties in downtown that take this problem more seriously. In fact, there are properties where you never have to see them. Shocking, I know. Do better Houston House.

I enjoy living here in Houston House! The people are nice and it’s relatively quiet even on weekends. I love hearing all the commotion going on outside at night (cars racing down the street, people laughing, horns blowing) The building is also in a very convenient location close to the train to go anywhere when you don’t want to drive. Houston house is the most poorly managed place I have ever seen. They take forever to do just about anything and things seem to be getting worse not better.1. The pool deck rennovations took months longer than I was told before signing my lease so the pool was closed nearly half of the summer.2. The elevators break on a daily basis, and nothing is being done to fix them long term. Today all but one was broken so I ended up taking the stairs to my 21st floor apartment because it was taking so long to get on the elevator. Just about everyone has gotten stuck at one point or another.3. The Temporary door... they claim to be replacing the front door so in the mean time there is a beautiful piece of plywood in place of the door with a sign reading please excuse our Temporary door I think its been like this for 2 months now. I guess they have a different understanding of the word temporary.4. Valet trash. Someone had the genius idea to start having valet trash instead of all the trash going in the trash rooms on each floor. Now the hallways look disgusting and smell like a dead animal. Im not sure what was wrong with the trash rooms that hid both the unsightlyness and smell.5. Roaches. I have not personally had too many problems with roaches but I know other people have terminated their lease because they have been so bad. Not sure what the monthly fee for bugs is being used for. This has all happened in the first 9 months of me living here and they are now asking for a 30% increase in rent if I renew. Obviously I am not going to renew. With that being said, the freight elevator will probably still be broken in a month so I will be taking applications to help carry my furniture down 21 flights of stairs. I cant wait.

I wouldnt recommend this place, but as a cheap alternative for downtown living just know that you get what you pay for. You have been warned. I recently left after completing my lease.PROS:Great viewGreat locationFront desk staff (shout out all my front desk people)CONS:Roaches. This is hit and miss depending on your location in the building. Its also why some reviewers have had issues and some havent. Until recently the trash for each floor was deposited in a trash room equipped with a single large trash can. Roaches constantly emerge from the trash room and contaminate your apartment. I got to the point where I would just schedule my monthly spray.Recently theyve gotten rid of the trash room trash can and given each resident a small 15 gallon trash can. No, not a kitchen sized trash can, a small trash can that can hold about a half days worth of garbage.Maintenance. During Hurricane Harvey my apartment had a leak in the foundation causing massive amounts of water to flood in. I was one of MANY residents with this issue. The smell persisted for days and no action was taken to correct the problem although they knew about it. They say they have to fix an issue from the outside. PLEASE ASK THEM ABOUT THIS.

Also do not listen to any 5 star reviews because it’s very clear that they write their own reviews and get friends to write reviews for them. Nobody that lives here has anything good to say about them. I moved here because I wanted a skyline view so badly and this was all I could afford, however, there is a reason why it’s half the price of the other nearby high rises. I’d rather move back with my parents than live here.It does not matter how clean you are, millions of roaches live in the walls of every old building in downtown Houston. Unless you continuously spray raid every day in every single crevice or hole in your apartment, you will have bugs.

Just left from visiting a friend at their apartment on Wednesday 12/28/2022 at 4:39pm. We were dressed sharply as we had just left a 5 star restaurant, Brennan’s. While leaving, we decided to do a tik tok by the Christmas tree on the first floor. During the middle of the tik tok the lady (Asian lady I think) told us to leave. When our friend said he lives there, she then said when she answers the phone she can’t hear. Ummm we were not loud and frankly any tik tok we post helps your apartments get more business which now I see only has 2 stars are so yeah. It’s a lobby where people are expected to talk and lounge. It’s not a library where you are expected to whisper. You should have welcomed us and told us to tag you. Annnnnnd we never heard the phone ring, she just wanted our African American bodies to leave from the the 1st floor lobby space. I will NEVER recommend anyone, Caucasian, black, Hispanic etc to move here. The asian lady at the front desk is very racist and prejudice!!! I bet if we were Caucasian, and the Asian lady wouldn’t have said anything…she probably would have offered to take the pic/tik tok for us. I wish I could give it zero stars!! On site staff is excellent. The building may be older, but it provides affordable downtown living. You have to expect higher maintenance issues from an older building. The few issues I have had were resolved quickly.I am disappointed a major amenity renovation, ( pool and deck) was scheduled for Spring-Summer, and remains incomplete. My guess is that was a corporate decision and local staff gets to catch the heat.Bottom line is I will give serious consideration to renewal of my lease at year end.

Awful. Ive been here 3 months and already regret it. There are very basic, fundamental aspects to running a large apartment building successfully and Houston House fails at many of them. There are lots of complaints to choose from, but all boil down to TERRIBLE management. 1) Bad building maintenance. Dishwashers, heat, elevators, electrical outlets and more stop working frequently. Luckily I havent had to use AC yet since its been cool, but come summer I am dreading the inevitable AC outage. 2) Awful laundry facilities. Get used to packing your laundry in your car and driving to a laundromat, because machines are constantly out and there are not enough for the community anyway. 3) Poor cleanliness. There are roaches and litter to be found all over. 4) Cheap, lazy, dishonest, greedy management. Once you sign that lease, they will cease to help you, and clearly dont care about maintaining the building. This is why Houston House is cheaper than other apartments in the area--otherwise no one would ever move in.

Parking was a headache for guests and residents! you wont get a spot for at least 3 months. The garage was always broken or people park wherever they want, (no organization)  the elevators were always broken,  the pool was always closed for repairs (in the middle of summer at that). I literally had to ask the complex across the street if they mind me swimming at their pool from time to time. Embarrassing. The hvac chillers always broke down or are being repaired. So you can literally smell every little thing that comes thru the vents. My apartment didnt even have a microwave & they have a serious roach infestation problem that nobody seems to acknowledge or tend to or care about resolving. Not spraying and covering up, but actually resolving! They had money for resident parties every month or social activities but cant take care of priorities at home. I’m trying to say this in the nicest way possible—the managers here are a bunch of idiots. I came to visit my friend today, and ended up wasting 30 minutes of my life in their parking garage. If you visit, you’ll see it is IMPOSSIBLE to exit out of the “visitors” garage without damaging your car. Anyway, I unintentionally ended up stuck on a steep decline that led to a gate for the residents parking. I could not reverse to save my life. It was too steep, and my car wasn’t having it—it either rolled forward or stayed put. So, the only logical way for me to get out of the garage at that point would have been to open the gate in front of me, but to my despair... that did not happen for 30 minutes. Why, you might ask? Because I was not a “resident”. Even with my friend, who IS a resident, by my side, showing them her garage key and how it wasn’t working (because they only has access to the upper level garage), they STILL denied to open the gate. What was their solution? For ME to call a tow truck. After hearing that, I was about ready to risk it all and just ram through the gate.Hey management, when you read this, tell me which of your three brain cells told you a tow truck was going to fit in that small space and carry my car out without damaging anything? Which brain cell told you it made sense for me to pay to watch a tow truck get stuck with me? So, after thirty minutes of me blocking other residents’ access to the gate, one of the managers finally realized I wasn’t going to move anywhere and opened the gate. Did I get any sort of apology for wasting my time? Nope.If these people can’t solve a BASIC issue with a GUEST, then good luck actually living here!

Very disappointed to live here! Management is very rude and never cares about tenants! Ongoing construction around the building especially on balconies is very bothering. I work from home because of COVID-19 but they locked our balconies completely because of construction. I do not even talk about how loud is construction going. Thirdly, utility bills are made by how they want there is literally no metric system, even if I did not home for 3 weeks in August and they sent me 115 USD utility bill, crazy isnt it?! Lastly there is trash on all over the hallways. That place is HORRIBLE!

Horrible location as far as in service, safety , AND THEY ROB YOUR MONEY . I am moving from Las Vegas, NV and I was seeking new place to live in Houston TX. I called and Michael Lopez answered and was helping me. When I was applying for my background check I called and asked that I did not want to put a security deposit, because I was not sure if this was the place for me. He replied stating that their systems are being updated and I may still apply and put it down and if I dont want to move in I will be reimbursed regardless. I did as directed and when I went to visit I was not happy with the service nor felt safe of the place so i did not want to live there. I told mike and he said he would process the refund. At first he said his manager said no and I reminded him of our conversation. He proceeded to say he will tell him the story. This was almost two months ago and I have sent atleast ten emails and called over twenty times and left messages. they are ignoring me completely and essentially I have been ROBBED of my money. I called two weeks ago and spoke to Debbie and she said she will get back to me. I called her last week to follow up and left a message and have not had a call back. I will continue to post reviews and will update once this has been resolved.Update: 8/20/19Been about a month or 2, but they paid me my money back in a form of a check so I had to wait another 2 weeks. What a headache.

I wrote a bad review on Yelp! so they towed my car out of spite and wouldnt tell me where it was impounded out. 500 dollars I got my car out of hock - I will not be renewing my lease. I was stuck in elevator 3 for over 12 minutes, a truly terrifying experience. Take notice all the 5 start reviews are within the last 2 months. They paid a PR Firm to raise their rating less than a month ago it was 1.3 stars. Look at the photos residence post - the cockroaches are so big they should be helping with the rent!

Ill be honest. This property is something special. Ever since we moved here always felt like it was our home. It has a great location, unbeatable view and awesome personnel that makes you feel part of the family. As we had our ups, we have our downs. I was mislead about the construction of a dog park. They have been announcing it for years and nothing has been done yet. The new access system has great faults. The entry garage sensor has been placed too far to the right. You have to make sure to place your e-tag far right enough but not too far to not have the same issue in the exit since its slightly installed to the left. I have a small car, trucks seem to struggle more on entry. The garage door opens and closes TOO slow compared to other buildings around, which might explain why it has been hit by cars. Other garages door open almost instantly, compared to this residential system. The elevators have issues. Cargo elevator and elevator 3 become out of service too often; sometimes twice a week. They take too long to Reset to save money according to several employees. At one point there was only 1 of 4 (including cargo) working for a WHOLE WEEKEND.(This is dangerous if you have a personal or medical employee since they took around 20 mi. to arrive) THERES NO VISITORS PARKING despite having some space in the basement and level 7 and 8. Your visitors will have to spend money on meters or a fee for parking since youre only entitled 1 per apartment. Its sad the amount of people that get parking tickets and/or booted) Residents are nice and rude at the same time. Some people have dogs and dont care about their bark even if its constant throughout the night. People throw things out of the balcony. Ive seen cars and limo parked on the street and get their windshields shattered. Theres no washing machines in apartments so forget about going to the laundry room on the weekend and Mondays. Pool ; this includes the barbecue grills. You will have to meet food delivery and visitors in lobby, they wont let them through the elevators. Signed packages are auto-rejected. Oh yea, there are roaches and hallways smell like weed or cigarettes a lot of times which you can solve by installing a weather strip on the entry door, doing their pest control and using your own. They dont enforce the trash policy so people leave their trashcans out every day and admin expect residents to tell them and take pics of the apartment with trash.Advice to admin AND BUILDING OWNER, Change hallway carpets for more modern and new ones, shampoo them more often and consider an a/c air freshener for the hallways and lobby (Try both SkyHouse or other luxury apartments around HH if you need an idea of what I mean). Their hallways look cleaner, and smell better which makes you feel welcome and cozy (like a hotel). Change the blinds to more modern and less easy to break slats. Update Windows and sliding door to one more firm and not stained. They sealed the balcony windows which I totally do not agree> It was one of the best features.Other than these issues, I like it and wouldve stayed if their rent could justify them; for which theyve been made aware of.

I lived here for 3 years and only moved out due to job location changes. You can complain about this place all you want, but for the cost of a downtown high rise you’re not going to find a better deal. People complaining are often rude to management and terrible tenants. That’s the worst part about this place: the tenants. But if you can handle elevators, downtown noise, and an overworked leasing office and maintenance staff, it’s a great place.

They are lucky I am giving them a star cause they don’t deserve none. Debbie is an awesome person and the stuff is wonderful and I love the view from my apartment. But the problems I have been having overcome all that. 1. When I moved in here the a/c was not working and they told me “we might fix it today” the day was getting hotter by the minute so I called greystar for them to fix my a/c and sink problem. Well they fixed my a/c but it took them about a month for them to fix my sink because they “did not have the right piece”. 2. You love roaches? You are in the right place because there is plenty of them in here. From big to small. They charge you for pest spraying but they don’t actually spray your apartment. I have a problem with roaches and I just got sick and tired of waiting they left me a note saying that they had sprayed but I quickly noticed that they did not. 3. Speaking about roaches they tell you that if you have problems with roaches to report it and they will deal with it immediately THEY DON’T!!! They just leave you a paper saying that they sprayed and charge you for it. 4. When I moved in they told me “go into the internet and give us a great review and you could win a great price” my question is how can I review an apartment when I have not even moved in yet? So I am not going to give a good review for something that I don’t know about. It’s been 3 months that I have lived here and I just had enough of problem after problem after problem. 5. My last and final problem that made me write this. There is water leaking from my roof in the bathroom and there is water all over my floor. I have reported it and no one has done nothing about it. So @greystar if you guys take long to respond to the water leaking (which from my experience you guys are going to take long) I am not going to pay my water bill. I am even thinking of breaking my lease and moving to another place because that is just a few problems compared to all the problems I have and I just have gotten sick and tired of reporting them and nothing has been done or they have been checked as been done but they have not.Second part of the review:A month has gone by and they have not done nothing yet. They are now ignoring me and now I have mold. The water is going through the walls. Please if some can please help me on what to do next I will appreciate it.

The amenities and apartments are decent for the price. My AC was broken for a few months, walls are thin so if your neighbors are noisy you will definitely hear it. The price and size of the apartment was the only plus, but the management was the rudest I have ever encountered in any building. I had been warned but I didnt expect to encounter any problems. I could not have anticipated the disrespect and lack of professionalism. You get what you pay for with the rooms essentially, nothing more nothing less. Just dont expect anything from the management.

I do love the location and the majority of the staff. What I will say is that they need to get better with cleaning the place up. the hallways on each floor are disgusting. they are stained and smell. Rent is not cheap so I expect to be able to use the amenities that I pay for. for one, last month they changed their hours for when we can use the movie theater (during working hours) I was told that we are not able to use during the weekend only the week days 9-6. the majority of the residence work during those hour. second, from my understanding they are working on the pool again but because residence cant use the pool they are not allowing us to access the grills, chest game, or the sitting area. rather than just blocking off the pool.I do believe when you first move in they spray a gel to keep the bugs away. a month into living there it wore off. I keep my place pretty neat. no dishes in the sink, always mopping with Clorox and fabuloso, no food left out yet they are running around in not just my apartment but in the hall ways.I requested three times for them to come spray on Thursday. somehow I wasnt on the list and when they said they came in there was no work order left in my apartment confirming that they did.if you have groceries or furniture, you better hope the little carrier is available. they only have one for the hundreds of residence that live there. not to mention the one they do have is falling apart and taped together.the blinds are old and outdated and easily fall off. they should invest in the blinds that they have in the other apartment buildings in the surrounding area.I know I may pay more moving to another complex next door but at this point it is so worth it.

I was originally attracted to this place because of the location and low rent rates. After several times trying to contact them to lease an apartment, I was refused a tour of the building and directed toward the online site. I had originally signed for a base rent of $684 for a studio apartment and paid the $250 application fee. It has now been a month since I have received any word from Houston House and I am due to move in in less than 3 weeks. I have contacted them by phone and through email everyday for the past 2 weeks because they are trying to charge me $846 for the apartment when I have proof that I signed for $684. All of their inboxes are full, nobody answers the phone, and the front desk staff is extremely rude. I have yet to receive a response and have been left in limbo as far as moving into another complex. I now have to start the search for a new apartment and move with very little time and options to spare. I will be demanding a refund because of their dishonesty, inattention, health hazards, and breach of contract.

When I first moved in it was a great place despite all the bad reviews I read, after only a few months of living here my good friend that lived in the unit under me had his apartment broken into and robbed not once but twice, he moved out immediately after. When I would have friends come over and they would wait for me in the lobby, they would always complain about how whoever was downstairs was very rude to them and even tried to make them leave until they called me or I came down in time. My last month living here, I drove into the parking garage at about midnight from just going down the street to get cigarettes. When I parked my car and got out, I was held at gun point, beaten and robbed of all of my things and rushed to the er. After making a police report and talking to my lawyer, Greystar refused to give the police or my lawyer any footage they had of the premises which is security videos entering exiting and inside the building. Not only is it bad management, but everything in the apartment falls apart. From wallpaper peeling off from the ceiling, flooding dishwashers, broken garbage disposals, curtains constantly breaking. Not to mention theirs no light or fan fixtures. Only light is in the bathroom and kitchen. Would not recommend to live here with such low level safety.

After living at Houston House for 5 years, I truly enjoyed my time in the complex. The main reason for my move was the elevator situation, which is scheduled to be resolved by early next year. Ill miss the staff dearly. The only issues I had during my time here were the elevators and of the staff members turning away my guests during my party and telling me that I needed to hire my own security officer during my events.

The only decent upsides are the view and location. It’s pretty apparent that the amenities are strictly a sales tactic in an attempt to increase interest. The only enjoyable amenities are under construction 90% of the time or restricted to 9-6pm on weekdays. Valet is an annoyance but essentially mandatory. Now, there is a trash valet, where they charge $20/mo for residents to fill the carpeted hallways with trash. It makes for a nice “crack den” atmosphere. If the trash and pests don’t give off a slummy feel, the other residents will. There are a number of trashy people who write on walls and are drugged out. There have also been thefts from other residents but the office refuses to address the issue and “security” is the loosest of terms.Overall, the homeless people outside aren’t even jealous. Finally, it’s pretty apparent that the 4- and 5-Star reviews below are Greystar accounts that have one review or copy-paste reviews on other properties. Pretty pathetic.

We booked a condo rental for the weekend through VRBO, which is a great 3rd party vacation rental source. Unfortunately our stay with Houston House was the worst experience ever. The first night we discovered that the AC unit did not work and the property owner did not address the issue. Lastly, thinking our vehicle was safe in the parking garage, it was burglarized. Our brand new 2020 Armada had the back window glass broke and personal belongings stolen. This was reported to the front desk and the only response given was that they “think cameras are working and the lady won’t be in until 10:30 to help”. Not to mention that the police officer who took our incident report shared to us of another auto burglary that was called to them at the same location just hours before and 2 the weekend prior !! Just a bunch of crooks scouting the area. Be aware of your surroundings! This place is a joke and it appears that they sell the “view” and don’t care about anything else. Very unprofessional environment. Could use housekeeping 101 class as well. We do not recommend this place if you are thinking of using Airbnb or VRBO. Hope this helps.

This place sucks so hard. If you dont inquire FAR beyond what they show and tell you, then you will be sorely surprised at what is in store for you once you sign your lease. Elevators are always broken, the amount of laundry appliances cannot handle the whole building, and the HVAC system is almost as unreliable as the elevator. It is unbelievable how many things are bad about this place, but if you choose not to heed the warnings, you will believe it when you are living it. Anywhere but here will suit anyone better.

I lived there for 3 years. I initially rented an Airbnb apartment and fell in love. I moved in permanently then referred my family. They changed management and the place crumbled. The hallways smell like dog urine, the front of the building reaks of dog urine and feces. They are doing construction on the balconies. The leasing staff lied to my younger brother and moved him his wife and 2 year old son into a unit with a incomplete balcony. They said the balcony would be fixed in 2 months and he was there for 18 months and they never fixed it or offered a better unit. They lived with sealed shut Windows and balcony and the air conditioner barely worked. My younger cousin moved in the leading staff told her a better unit was available she asked up front was there a problem with the balcony they said no, she moved in and the sliding door was sealed shut. They told her nothing was wrong with her balcony but the units below hers was getting fixed hence the sealed shut sliding doors. Even though two months into her staying in the new unit they chipped away at her balcony with a jack hammer. The pool is never open because of construction. Mind you three entire buildings have been built and they are not finished repairing a column of balconies. Management is blockbusting which is illegal. They are evicting people out of the units with functional balconies and moving the tenants they like into the more desirable units. The elevators are always broken. I wouldnt refer my worst enemy to Houston House. They need better management. The management should focus on improving the buildings conditions over trying to make social events to take peoples minds off of the horrid conditions of a dilapidating building. In 2012 it was great. Now it is worst than a project building. RENTERS BEWARE!

The community managers have cut me off multiple times in the middle of speaking to “connect” me to a line that doesn’t even work, and all online inquiries have been ignored. I really wanted the opportunity to live here but between the way the leasing team treats potential renters and the numerous negative reviews of roaches theft and vandalism it seems I may as well cut my losses.

First usually i do casher check but i had problem with the payment last month i was on vacation outside the country for a month from December 16 to January 17 so did the payment online on time but for some reason got canceled I don’t know why they have issues in the online website, that happened to me a couple times payment online get canceled and change me late fees. I emailed houstonhouse about it that I’m outside the country but Houstonhouse still changed me late fees while Houstonhouse knows about my situation. Second my two balcony got locked during the construction so there is no fresh air and con not cook at home plus i got no discount on the rent. Third the construction very loud during the day so there is a lot of noises I’m a student so that cost me can not study at home because of the noises and con not sleep at home as well because the noise so loud also can not even talk on the phone while I’m home because of the noises. My balcony been lucked and the noises since last month January with get no discount in the rent. Fourth my car got broken in two time and my 4000$ watch got stolen Houstonhouse did nothing about it. Houstonhouse always have issues and construction on the building and the rent very expensive. And Houstonhouse canceled my access to the garage and that elevator. So for those cases that why I didn’t pay the rent yet because of not been helping me with late payment when i did it online on time when i was outside the country on vacation since December 17 to January 17 but it got canceled i do not why still changed me late fees and lucking my balcony and the very loud noises of the construction. So i got no discount with the rent for all of those issues I’ll have to move somewhere else in a week from now.

TL;DR Dont bother with this place. Just dont.Ive lived here for a while and come January, I am outta here. This place has recently become an absolute disaster, and heres why:Pros:-Good location, especially if you work downtown.-Nice lobby.-Apartments are decently nice for the price.-And... thats it.Cons:-Community laundry room is always absolutely packed (unless its 3AM on a Wednesday) and the machines break constantly, yet continue to accept your money with no warning.-Elevators are constantly going down. In the past few months, we were down to ONE elevator serving the entire 30 floor building numerous times. This led to 15-20 minute wait times just to get downstairs to go to work in the mornings.-Parking garage is covered but open on the sides, so your car gets covered in dirt within a day after you get it washed.-Pool has been out of commission for well over a year and continues to miss promised fixing deadlines.-Management has always been an issue. There is absolutely no denying that they SUCK. They can be friendly, but I doubt any of them have a clue what theyre doing. The only thing they seem to be able to manage effectively is collecting my check every month.-The building appears to consist of 25% edgy tatted-up college kids, 25% businessmen, and 50% families. In other words, the community makes for an interesting environment to say the least.-My AC went out twice in a 3 month period.-My sink began leaking and had to be fixed at the same time as my toilet breaking.-My apartment was ready for move-in a few days late and caused a serious inconvenience with the movers.-The floors appear to be uneven in some areas of the building, and this clearly affected the renovation so the new cabinets/counters/doors seem very shoddily installed.-The appliances in the apartment are nice and shiny, but they are bottom-of-the-line and were clearly installed to jack up the rent with a cheap renovation.-New management also seems to want to jack up the rent despite things continuing to fail around the building. To summarize:If you absolutely have to live downtown, this place provides an okay option for a decent price. However, if you are living downtown by choice, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Go over to the Skyhouse. Go over to Post. ANYWHERE. Pay the extra money and get a building that functions and management that is competent. In fact, the Houston House has recently started offering $500 off your rent for referring a friend if they rent an apartment. Thats a testament to their current tenancy rate.

About an hour goes by and he sent me an email saying I had fraudulent paystubs (WHAT?!) I didn’t receive a denial letter from the company nor the “software” where he said he came from. I emailed back , no response. So I called and called until someone answered (the next day they finally answered) it was Mike again, on the phone. I express my concerns and he told me he look it up while we were otp. He then said he couldn’t find the denial (RED Flag) and also the decision came from Management. How can the manager say my paystubs are fradulent with no proof. Then he said they were altered 🤨, yea ok! Anywho, I told him that I saw a review online ( Google review) that they did the same thing to someone else a week prior. His response to that was if I wanted to dispute it I can send in my bank statements smh the review with the other person got canceled because they said his bank statements were altered as well! The only reason im even giving this property 1 star is simply because of how helpful and informative the leasing agent Debbie was, and optimism i had to keep realizing that this property was too good to be true, The reviews about them scamming for your $250 application fee did not alarm me until i realized that the same exact thing might have happen to me. On my tour, i had to wait for debbie to find the correct key for the unit as she tried every key on her key ring with no luck (no big deal at the time) as she finally arrives with the correct key, upon entering she tells me sorry this unit was leased so we had it locked, then the tenants application came back unapproved this did not alarm me in fact i felt quite lucky that i would benefit off someone elses misfortune lol, this was until the same thing happen to me, now i genuinely feel sorry for whoever that person was knowing they probably did everything correct just as i did. I am a law abiding, laid back kind of guy so when people discredit my honesty that is very disheartening. After touring the property, despite some slight disappointments i was very excited to move in, i went home and applied for the exact unit i had viewed, Paid my deposit, followed all instructions given by Debbie. Everything seemed to be going smooth as i was even emailed a invite being welcomed to the resident portal on the houston house website. Being a fashion consultant in houston texas most of our jobs are commission only so this means you get paid in direct deposits or cash. i provided my 3months worth of bank statements which debbie advised me would be accepted since i was self employed. Shortly after sending my statements over, and when i say shortly after, i mean maybe 10 minutes. i received a one sentence email saying unfortunately your application has been denied these statements are altered HUH??? how can a statement given to me from a teller be altered? what does that even mean? no phone call explaining how they came to this conclusion with these allegations, no explanation at all. I am for sure not letting this go unsolved and will be opening a small claims case for my application fee back. this is ridiculous

Absolute some of the worst living conditionsThis is really one of the worst places to live. Its basically like youre sleeping outside. The heat stops working at least twice a week and doesnt work for days. We had to sleep in the closet for three days because their windows bring in too much cold and without the heat it is unbearable. Management is unresponsive.I dont suggest this place really unreliable. Seems great first couple of weeks then all goes downhill from there.

***STAFF REVIEW ONLY***I lived in Houston House from July 16-Aug 18. Although I have nothing nice to say about the apartment itself, I will say that they staff are great. Ms. Debbie (leasing) is very professional and courteous. She always asked me how I was doing when we saw one another in passing. She has worked at Houston House probably longer than anybody else in the entire building. Mr. Victor at the front desk is also another anchor of the building. Hes probably one of these reasons I stay so long. He knows who lives in the building and who does not. He is the guard dog, for lack of a better term. He is friendly, but takes his job very serious. This will work in your favor should you ever have a stalker (I could tell you stories, chile....) Anyway, Patrick is another front desk assistant who has been with Houston House for a long time. He, just like Victor, knows who lives in the building and who does not. Become friends with him and Victor. Oh and Ms. Debra, she works in the Daytime. Her spirit is just so warm and lovely. TBH, all the new people can GOOOOOO. LOL.James, the Property Manager, is awesome! Dont email him, just go down and see him in person and he will accommodate your needs. So, if you are a person who loves a community feel, then HH is the place for you. If you want like upgraded and top of the line apartments, ummmm..... yea.

When I explain that this is not what I was applying for I was told that the application fee is non-refundable!!!The response I received on Google Review is automated. Ive call the manager several time left several messages and still have yet to receive a response.DO NOT APPLY HERE! I FEEL BAD FOR THE PEOPLE THAT DO LIVE HERE

If I could give it less than a one star, I would. This is by far the worse experience I have ever had staying somewhere. Upon arrival we find that our room was so dirty that there was dried blood on the door to the bedroom as well as the pillow cases. Then we find a womans pair of panties that had blood in it.Moving forward to making the phone call of the complaint we find out that not only are they refusing to refund us they lie and tell us they will send the cleaning crew and they never comeIn the other apartment we rented for the weekend our group couldnt sleep bc of the amount of people coming and going in the room next to us, the loud music, and the crazy amount of marijuana that they were smoking is insane. To top it off, front desk did nothing after called and complained. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere

Roaches everywhere. Ongoing garage robberies which the management has show they do not care to do anything about. And maintenance has yet to come in and fix the balcony door that was requested to be fixed 3 months ago. Clearly the only thing this place cares about is its money. DO NOT fall into the trap of living here

We moved into our apartment in aug. At first everything seemed great one moth later everything went terribly wrong. 1) One electricity socket exploded almost catching our bedroom on fire and half the others do not work. 2) NO HOT WATER for weeks still hasnt been fixed. 3) Our heater is broken 4) Brown water coming out of the faucet. 5) washers and dryers dont work 6) roaches I could go on but I think my point is made....Listen to all the bad reviews and save your money...

This place is special. The building is very old and things always breaking (always construction noise). Security is a joke, my vehicle has been vandalized three times in 16 months of living here. The management is very dismissive of concerns and usually have a deer in the lead lights look when you speak with them. It may be cheaper than a lot of places in downtown, but its not exactly a bargain.

If you want to waste your time, go ahead! I applied a month ago and sent all that was needed to for the application. No calls and every time I call, They ask me to send the same documents over and over. They clearly just want the $250 application fee.. I had some high hopes for this place but they seem shady and unorganized. I even had a realtor that couldnt get through to them... basically if you apply, they will take your money and then play games with you.

Unprofessional management team and poor living conditions. Elevators are always broken and their answer is, they are too old so tough to fix and too expensive to replace. They rather inconvenience the tenants with 1 elevator working than do their jobs and replace.5/30/2018 update...they also respond to bad reviews 3 years later. Seems like disfunction continues to be the status quo.
