I’ve spoken to 4 different people who have been hired and fired in less than a year of owning this home. The warranty work is shotty, there is always an excuse, takes weeks to get a response. I should have known prior to closing when they removed half of our blue tape and said we are not going to fix that sorry. If you can find another builder do it.
I recently purchased my first home, and I cannot speak highly enough about Michael from City Choice Homes. As the sellers agent, Michael demonstrated unparalleled professionalism, making the entire process smooth and straightforward.Communication was paramount throughout, and Michael excelled in this aspect. He promptly addressed all my queries and concerns, ensuring I felt informed and confident at every step.
I just visited one of their properties at 5918 jasper jones way in Houston, and was very disappointment on the built quality for this new homes. I saw gaps around doors and windows, the paint used is definitely cheap, I even saw shingles already falling down on a new home! If this is the quality of their build, how can I give them my hard earned money? The only reason I give them 2 stars is because the house layouts are modern and nice, but the built quality is not worth the price placed on these homes.
It floods at Mansfield Park. Builders were warned by the city of Houston to fix the stagnant water in the retention pond, which was not fixed. The Builders actively delete comments on their facebook page, which seems like an attempt to hide their work from the public. A subdivision that is under 2 years old should not be flooding. Builders like City Choice are one of the reason Houston floods. Just irresponsible. City choice, fix the issues.Don’t get me started on their homes themselves.
Great builder who brings value while not sacrificing quality. Sales process is smooth and tailored to the buyer’s experience. The broker does blue tape walkthrough and everything is taken care of prior to close and getting possession. Any questions are resolved quickly as the broker and his team are easy to contact and professional.
In my opinion, everything about City Choice is complete trash, from the homes to the employees. I dream everyday of selling this dump and buying a real house from a reputable, professional builder.
City Choice has far exceeded my expectations. They make the buying process seamless from contract to close. The quality of construction is superb when compared to other builders. The home has high quality finishes throughout and a timeless aesthetic. Their customer service is superb- they are always accessible. When looking at builders in the community and when looking for your first home- City Choice is a trusted brand.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Terrible experience. Terrible customer service. Once they have your money they don’t care about you. They will ignore you for weeks on end. Awful agent (Michael) can’t even be bothered to respond. Quality of the build is terrible, they couldn’t even make a door frame straight and level with the wall. Over promised and under delivered. Take your hard earned money and run. You are better off buying a shed from Home Depot and placing it on your lot.
Sparknotes - stay away due to the following reasons:- Awful builder- Unresponsive warranty department- Low-quality construction- Unfulfilled promises/oversold home- Rushed jobs- Once property closes what do they care about your problems? Theyve got your money. This builder is utter garbage. Sure, they provide the standard warranty -- if they ever get to it. On closing we had a list of items that were promised to be addressed but its been 9 months since our closing date and only one item has been addressed. Two community storm drains have remained filled with dirt and construction debris besides the final home being built at least 6 months ago and despite numerous e-mails. Several warranty claims/messages have been ignored -- we just dont hear from their department period. Worst of all though is the quality of construction. Our garage has unevenly cut sheet rock, our floodlight was held together by a mixture of stucco mortar and wire screw terminals, one of our neighbors had plumbing issues so bad they had to a hole at least 4 feet by 4 feet in his garage ceiling -- that still hasnt been addressed, either. Our cabinets have exposed nail ends and uneven paint, there are multiple sheet rock seams. The fans were that came with the house were not checked for wiring compatibility so you can have either both the fan and light on or nothing at all. What was their solution? Just unscrew the light bulb. The caulking is amateur-tier in some places, my breaker box is missing two screws, so are a few of my door hinges. There are exposed nails in my ceilings. Not to mention that before the home was built I was told the house would be 2176 sq. ft. and it ended up being 1926 and some change -- thats a discrepancy over 10%. I havent lived here an entire year and our community had a sewage backup caused by the construction crew somehow throwing a plastic bag of materials measuring close to 4 feet in length down the sewage line. Stay away. This builder just ghosts you once theyve got your money. If you decide to go through with them, blue tape EVERYTHING and DO NOT CLOSE until they have solved EVERYTHING on that list. Otherwise, youll be buying more empty promises than a home.
I would truly think twice before buying a home from City Choice Homes. Once you close they could careless about addressing your issues and concerns. I had a toilet leaking water for a week before it was addressed! In addition to that; I had cabinets not completed with holes in the wall along with a long list of defects, black spots on my mirror in my master bathroom, there’s a big hole, opening in the half bath under the sink. I was told Epoxy was standard and will be applied to my garage. Michael A. the broker told me that only the model home received it which was false because a couple other neighbors received the epoxy and I have an email to a neighbor stating that they’re going to apply epoxy in the garage. My neighbors have experienced similar issues and have all stated they’ve put through complaints. I was notified that the first phase of homes this company did they were served a lawsuit from the homeowners due to roof leaks etc...I’ll be doing the same because when you notify them with your issues they ignore you or say all warranty issues are suspended! What kind of business does that!? We’ve spent good money to live here and they could careless about customer issues. Also, I’ve experienced discrimination. They’ve addressed non warranty issues for a neighbor with no problem; who happens to be a white male; however he did say he had to threaten them with a lawsuit to get response. I’m completely disgusted with this development team!
My review is about Juan and his professionalism. He was the one there at our blue tape walk through and explained everything in detail. He was very patient and helpful. At our final walk through just a few days later, most of the things we marked with the tape was taken care of thank to him. I was impressed by the fast repairs. He even made an extra effort to have a fence installed for safety and privacy reasons. He was very professional and responsive. It was a great experience.
Just closed on a City Choice home and the experience was good. They were pretty responsive throughout the process. Juan did our walk through and addressed all of the items we pointed out. His professionalism made that part of the process close to painless. I only wish the crew or the builder would have cleaned the home better. There was a lot of paint and dirt everywhere throughout the house and it has been a lot of work to get cleaned up to move in ready standards.
If you want an extremley unprofessional, unresponsive, home buying experience then this builder is the one for you! I dont even know where to begin with how AWFUL and abnormal this process was. We had a set closing date in writing promised via email. Once it got closer to the close date, the agent and team literally ignored multiple emails from our realtor and lender asking for updates. They let us know only 6 days before set closing date that we would be unable to close, after we had already broken our lease early/scheduled movers etc. because they promised in writing we would close. They blamed the gas company for it. However, the home constuction was also no where near completed. It was an absolute mess still at the home. They literally left us without a place to live because they couldnt respond to emails like decent humans. Our realtor and lender emailed them/the agent at least 15 times over the span of weeks that went unanswered. Guess what their solution was to make up for all this.. they offered us a storage unit. They cant even respond to countersign documents. We wish we did more in depth research on City Choice before purchasing a home from them. The one star reviews below are not lies. Check them out on the BBB for all the complaints, their Facebook mentions of other home owners having issues, this company is a nightmare. Once they have your money they literally do not care about you. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. We sincerily feel bad for whoever has to deal with this builder next. Take your hard earned money and RUN!!
As a Realtor for 20 years, I have sold many new homes. This is without a doubt the best transaction I have experienced for myself and my client. From my first encounter with Michael , the agent, to Scott the on site building manager, their level of service was 5 stars! Since my client was a first time home buyer, Scott took his time to answer all of my clients questions. When we had the first and the final walk through Scott took notes and followed up on every since item that came up! Needless to say my client is happy. I too would definitely recommend City Choice Group to anyone wanting a first class builder and a team that is there to provide the very best in customer service!
The construction manager Juan was awesome. I am a very picky person when it comes to the cosmetic side of things. He took his time to address theses issues with my husband and I, and was very good with communicating how things were being fixed. This is our first home and I wanted it to be just right. Juan was definitely patient and understanding of my request. He has made us comfortable with the purchase and knowing If there is something that needs to be addressed, that we can call and he will do his best to resolve it.
I am real estate agent and Ive sold many new builds throughout my years doing this. One of the most pleasant experience Ive had working this deal was one of the construction manager, Juan.Like with all new builds theres bound to be some cosmetic defects. Ive dealt with plenty of managers, Juan is probably the most attentive and hard working manager Ive dealt with yet.He does amazing work and I feel confident bringing my clients to this company for new builds.
My boyfriend and I bought our first home together and we had hoped for an enjoyable experience. There are so many items that were to be repaired in the home prior to closing. About half of the items were repaired. Some of which was not completed properly. We were promised that after closing all remaining items would be completed. Its been 2 weeks and 2 items have been repaired. We have asked every few days for our paint kit so that we can do some touch up painting from the move. CityChoice Warranty has promised the kit on several occasions. They even told us last Friday before the end of the day, the kit would be left at our home. Guess what, no kit was left. For 2 weeks now, a superintendent was due to contact us. Guess what, never happened. These items may seem trivial to the builder. The principle of the matter is that we consider promises as lies when not followed through.
CityChoice make very nice looking homes but they do skip on the quality of construction. However, I would. Ot recommend purchasing a CityChoice home.Since our purchase in 2018, Ive noticed several issues with flooring not being properly secured to the subflooring, numerous cracks in the cabinets all throughout the house, a slanted kitchen island that was not properly leveled when settled, uneven flooring under the fridge, and our most recent experience of learning the damper system they installed being faulty, causing bad cooling issues on the 3rd floor. We now have to replace the damper system and make several updates to the A/C (costing several hundred dollars) that are due to shortcuts the builder took. Also, they warranty process is nonexistent. I spent several months trying to have Juan send out crews to fix our issues during our warranty follow up but everytime he sent out new people whi didnt know the issues or have the parts to fix the problems. Juan was also fairly unprofessional and did not provide timely responses or take note of our issues.I would certainly recommend paying more for a homebuilder that doesnt take shortcuts and has professionalism in how they manage their warranty process.
This is my second new construction home purchase, and while it wasnt terrible it could have been better. To start, I love my new home. From the layout to the features. I closed on my home exactly two weeks ago and there are still a few cosmetic fixes that need to be completed. In my opinion the contractors who performed the work on these houses did a fairly decent job because during my first walkthrough a week before close, I didnt have to put as much blue tape as I did on my first house. Two days before closing I did my final walkthrough and about 75% of those fixes were complete. The superintendent Juan has been amazing and the reason this review is 4 stars. He has stayed in constant communication and gone above and beyond to ensure all fixes have and will be completed. I really appreciate that he takes so much pride in the work and service he provides. He has made the after closing process so easy, not stressful, and very pleasant. Now when it comes to the actual home buying process that is where I found that City Choice fails. Communicating with their staff is like pulling teeth. When I first looked at my current home, I looked at it on a Friday afternoon. That Monday they had an earnest check from me. Three weeks later my home was still listed as for sale until my agent was able to get it taken off or put as pending on different sites. She stated that it was probably to entice buyers to come look at the community. As I type this review, my house is still listed as available on their actual website, and as I stated before I closed TWO weeks ago. At this point I find it annoyingly amusing. In my opinion their staff work hard enough for that earnest money check, and once closing comes around dont care to offer any sort of basic customer service. On multiple occasions Ive called and left voicemails to be called back because I had multiple questions, but instead I received passive aggressive emails. Its 2018, if I wanted an email response, I would have just emailed to begin with. Having gone through this process before with a new construction build, I know what its like to have a company give basic/decent customer service and how I should be treated before, during, and after the process. This is definitely a deficiency for this company but employees like Juan keep people like me happy and would make me recommend a home in my community to someone else.
I bought a home with a city Choice a few months ago. Like any new development, you expect minor issues and I cant say enough good things about Juan and his attentiveness to address/ fix the issue. Its such a relief to know that once you close on the house, he is still here helping out and going ABOVE and BEYOND to rectify any issues. I feel like he works all of the time day or night/ weekday or weekend, because he is always available and returns all calls. Honestly have to say he made this experience of buying a place a lot less stressful!
Absolutely, unprofessional builders- they were a nightmare to deal with during the home buying process. Even now we have been chasing them to resolve basic warranty issues in addition to missing items in the house that they are legally obligated to complete, however they ignored all of our requests and falsely reassured us about an appointment but on the day of no one showed up. Since then we have been unable to get a hold of anyone despite multiple emails/tickets and calls. If you get a hold of someone then they simply pass you around with no real outcome. Our deep frustration has caused us to leave this review in hopes that others are forewarned about their lack of professionalism and ethics.
My family and I recently purchased a new construction townhome from City Choice Homes. The style of the home and the interior style are great and modern. Great neutral colors through out the home. Unfortunately all of these things were over shadowed by the laundry list of things wrong with the home once we signed and moved in. The property agent on site and in charge of the property was no help resolving these issues. Thankfully the Developer Manager Juan was extremely helpful in resolving the issues and at times took care of things his self. Overall I believe they are throwing up these properties, pushing buyers to buy and these homes are not ready to be lived in. The people they are hiring to do the work are doing a sloppy job.2 months later and we’re finally getting to enjoy our new home. My advice is make sure to have the house inspected several times before signing on the dotted line.
We love our home! As all homes, there are always issues. City Choices superintendent, Juan, has been amazing in helping us accomplish our issue. When he said he was going to do something, be at my home at a certain time, he was there! Juan is a very hard worker, who gets the job done either solo and/or with his crew. Pleasing a home buyer is what we all want! Juan made this happen for us! We are very grateful for him and City Choice.
I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I have had issues with this company since I initially closed on my home January 31, 2020.First issue was that nothing I asked for and marked with the blue tape that they provided during my first walk through was completed at my final walk through (they literally just removed the tape and went about their day).I was told I would be getting all new light bulbs and the carpet would be clean prior to me moving, this did not happen as some light bulbs went out a week after moving in.Only one of the garage openers provided actually works. When I first moved in I was not given a mailbox. I did not receive my mail box key until April. That is a whole three months after I closed which is ridiculous.I was given a faulty washing machine that I am now being told that in order for a subcontractor to come fix I need to unstack. I am 115lbs and can not unstack the washer and dryer for health reasons which they do not seem to care about.Once you close on your home and they get your money this company does not care.My home is still under warranty so it is insane that this is how they are conducting business.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY especially if you are a first time home owner!! The process itself is already stressful enough and this company does not care about their customers at all!!
Very poor experience with City Choice. I have lived in my City Choice built home for almost 5 years, and the list of problems the builders decided to hide continues to grow. After I moved in, the punch list that was created for outstanding items needed to be repaired was never addressed and I was never able to get in touch with the builder again. I have had my double pane window seal leak (which should be covered under a factory warranty), and city choice will not help me get in contact with the window manufacturer. The houses had full size Oak Trees planted within 4 feet of the house (Most local HOAs will request these trees be removed from the property if closer than 16 ft). When City Choice filled in cracks in concrete prior to purchase, they could not get the patches to match the concretes original color. I have had 4 window leaks from rain, leaking shower tile, and rotting wood used for base boards and trim that have all been replaced. Recently I found out my furnace for my AC unit in undersized and I am missing insulation from the home, making it impossible to fully heat the house in the winter. When I informed nester that the AC redirect was installed backwards (meaning for almost 5 years my AC unit has been over working itself, and causing condensation to pool in my addict), he told me that even though it was faulty work and an example of negligence, I was out of my 1 year warranty and would receive no help. These builders are negligent and will leave you with zero support or follow through after you close. This has been the case for nearly five years.
Edit: After living here for almost two years I would attempt to avoid this builder at all costs.I understand this is a starter home for some but I expect more service when making an investment such as this. I also do not appreciate being lied to throughout the entire process by multiple people involved with the builder. Before moving in I was concerned about the internet readiness of the home as during the pandemic my only option was work from home. The Builders real estate agent promised multiple times that it would be ready by move in date. One of the builders employees (not sure on title) even told me several home already had internet access. This was all a string of lies as the community was not even close to ready.I had a large bump in my floor in the kitchen. I could roll a golf ball down a hill in my own kitchen. I was told this was intentional and a design feature with how the home was designed with the trusses. I had a guy come by and inspect and immediately was told it needed to be fixed. Had to fight tooth and nail for them to finally fix it.They never completed all the repairs they said they would. I still have some blue tape from my walk through behind a tv. There are several other things that went unfixed due to communication issues with the builder.Workmanship and materials are cheap. appliances are cheap, light fixtures needing to replaced months into living in the home.I even had a neighbor who had to threaten to sue in order to get repairs done.If you do end up with a city choice home absolutely do not close without every single repair being made. They will attempt to avoid every bit of work after the home is sold.Just moved in the other day. I really love the layout and what they’ve done with the space. Working with the city choice team around closing and right after has been a breeze. Juan with city choice has been amazing from walk through, to blue tape and now after my move it. He’s answered all my questions and had someone to out to look at questions or concerns I have with my home extremely quickly. It’s made my move in that much easier.
Our experience with City Choice homes has been phenomenal. We just recently moved into our home and City Choice has gone above and beyond to make sure our home was in perfect condition upon move in. Juan Muniz is one of a kind. He has been wonderful from day one and continues to help out when needed. He answers every call and follows through with everything! He even came over after work hours to help us move a refrigerator. His commitment and customer service is above all others. We are truly grateful and highly recommend City Choice and Juan Muniz!- The Thomas’
I bought my house in the new development in Shady Acres (15th 1/2 St) back in February. Im a first time, newly engaged home buyer so I was happy to buy straight from the builder given the builder warranty. Im writing this review because I feel it is necessary to give future home buyers as much insight before they make such a huge decision. CCH does a few things extremely well. They make aesthetically nice home both externally and internally with very modern finishes, flooring, and appliances. I have dealt directly with Larry Krim (realtor) and Juan (construction manager I presume) and both have been extremely helpful. I call them if and when I ever need anything and they have been great to work with. Also, the builder warranty is fair. These three reasons are why I rated this a 4 star instead of a 3 star because I will be honest that our experience has not been perfect so far. Here are a few problems weve experienced in about three months. First, they do not offer an option period. Meaning, you will lose your earnest money if during closing you want to back out. This is odd and very uncommon from what Ive researched. It definitely made us feel like the builder wasnt confident the home would pass inspection (it did with very minimal problems). After we moved in, we experienced - the toilet has been fixed twice, kitchen sink has been fixed once, heater was not working when we arrived, garage floor was painted but after just 3 months all the paint has been ripped up (Im guessing they used cheap paint or didnt properly seal it), our included dryer and wine cooler both had to be replaced (not necessarily reflective on the builder but a pain nonetheless), and any warranty claim weve reported on the website hasnt been followed up upon (thats why I call Juan directly). If you buy, make sure to get as many phone numbers to the company as you can because calling them directly is the fastest way you will get something fixed. Now, I understand every new home has some issues that need to be ironed out. However, I do believe CCH homes are built extremely fast with multiple contractors so the attention to detail was probably lacking. They also have corks that we discovered in other CCH homes like really small guest rooms and closets, narrow doorways, columns in the middle of the living room, or unorthodox room layouts which conveys the message, was this poorly planned and rushed?. With that being said, we have not had anything happen that has cost us money out of our pocket due to the warranties offered. I will probably post another review next year with an update but thought CCH should receive a review on their new development. I do believe a 4 star review is fair for now because of the people that work for CCH have been great to us so far and we havent encountered anything too concerning like roof, foundation, or flooring problems. I hope future home buyers find this helpful.
DEPLORABLE SERVICE!My husband and I purchased a home in March 2022 and never expected to be in this big of situation with City Choice. They do not respond to emails to address contracted warranty expectations and do not want to help homeowners. If I was you, I would stay away from this company for the pure headache it has been trying to get our new home up to the standards of their list prices.
Site construction manager Juan does a great job at going over the inspection report with you. He goes above and beyond to take care of all issues from the inspection walk thru to the final walk thru. He takes pride in his trade, he’s very professional and most importantly he cares about the home you’re purchasing. I have nothing but good things to say about him. Made my home purchase process smooth towards the closing stages.
They have ruined my first home buying experience! My home is located in Eado Square. Not only was I promised countless things during my walk through that I have yet to see delivered on, but I have had a warranty issue outstanding for over 60 days from the poor roof construction on my townhome. I have spent numerous days away from work to be there for them to complete their repairs and they have not even completed half the job. They are full of excuses and last minute cancellations and have no regard for how big of a deal it is for someone to ask off work for these issues.
In every new build process there are struggles to get through. This was no different, but now that we are in the house we are so thrilled to be living here. Juan was very helpful throughout the process and tried to complete every task we asked of him and his crews. Though there were a few hiccups during the process and a few things we wished we could have gotten taken care of I would say that this builder got 99% of our fixes completed. I would definitely recommend this builder due to the fact that these are very well built homes, but I would advise every buyer to get an inspection and have multiple walkthroughs throughout the process.
This is one of the worst builders in Houston. The homes are poorly constructed and built too fast. The contractors they hire consume alcohol while on the job and the sites are completely trashed until the units are complete. I have been in my home for less than two years and there are holes in the tile throughout the house because the mortar was not laid properly (I have photos). After Hurricane Harvey I had several leaks in the roof. In December, four months later, they finally came and “fixed” water damage. Just over a year later water damage is visible, which I can only assume it’s from the accumulation of rain over the years (I have photos). Last but not least, I have been battling with the warranty company to fix the attic door which has not completely closed in over a year (I have dates emails and photos). They have brought 3 different contractors to my home and none of them have been able to fix the door. I can only imagine how much I’ve paid in wasted energy bills. They have been giving me the run around of over a year. I constantly have to follow up with them, as it seems as though they have forgotten about my year long request. I would NOT recommend purchasing any properties from this builder. They talk a good game and the results are mediocre at best.
It was a great pleasure to work with Juan Muniz for our first home. He is an amazing construction manager, very professional, responsive and gets things done quickly as he promises. He made our first home buying experience much easier. We are truly thankful for him and his work.
I made the grave mistake of buying my first home through City Choice. My hope and prayers are that if you are interested in buying one of their homes, you read this and truly take the advice from this post. DONT DO IT! The realtor who is selling these homes and the builder are telling blatant lies to the people moving in. Initially, I thought it was just me until I met my neighbors and they had a list of complaints longer than I!!! And we aren’t talking little scratches/missing paint. We mean BIG issues. For instance, I was told the house was move in ready. Lies. We can’t even get internet until September!! The person running their warranty email is so RUDE. The realtor who is over the properties is non-responsive - my neighbors have emails to him and to the builder requesting help and NO response. We are having to resort to getting our realtors involved and Lawyers. Trust me, you don’t want these problems. Take your hard earned money and invest it or build with someone else.
Summary of 1 Star Rating: Beautiful home, Numerous Issues (and counting), Builders Warranty Department is AWFULTime in home: ~16 monthsPros:• Aesthetically pleasing home (wood floors, marble countertops, bathroom/kitchen fixtures, etc.)• Great layout for my specific floorplanCons:• Bruce Johns, the superintendent. Hes going to bulls*** you just to get you off his back. Hell agree to fix things but doesnt follow through. He doesnt read emails fully before replying with an answer that doesnt make sense. Overall just seems like hes not interested in delivering a product that will satisfy his customers.• Really, really, bad workmanship. About 65% of my community has had roofing issues including myself. Ive also had windows and doors that were not sealed properly.• On several occasions Ive scheduled appointments (had to take the day from work) to have warranty repairs done only to get stood up. No warning, no follow-up to reschedule.• You contact the warranty department only to be told you need to contact the company that performed the service (which sometimes no longer does work with City Choice)• Roof has had a string of leaks that are still not repaired (the issues started before Harvey rains)• Warranty department is who exactly? You dont have a name or direct number of who you need to be speaking to. They have a generic email where they respond from but dont sign their name, you can call City Choice and press 4 to get connected to the warranty department but why dont we have a direct line?• In the 16 months Ive been here Ive had to explain, and re-explain the warranty issues with my home to 5 different people. We agree to a resolution plan, no follow-up, and boom that person is gone. Lather, rinse, repeat.• First issue that was ever reported happened 7 months after move-in and is STILL not resolved. Issues keep popping up and since theyre always avoiding you, the resolution rate is at a snails pace. (13 items submitted, 4 resolved)• Customer Service hours are terrible. Contractors are working on NEW construction in our community over the weekend but are not available for warranty work during that time frame. Only 8 to 5 Monday through Friday so I hope you can work A LOT for the warranty issues that youll be dealing with for over a year.
City Choice made my buying experience very quick and easy. The homes are built with quality material from the fixture to the insulation used in the walls. We are all humans and there were some minor issues but Albert and his team has responded quickly and affectedly. I am please with my experience. Thank you to City Choice and Albert and his team!!
To the people considering buying a home from this company DONT! If you already did, Im so sorry.. We most certainly did not have a good experience. Please make sure to document EVERYTHING with these people submit work orders, emails, etc. Here we are almost a year later with multiple outstanding work orders.. Also going on almost a month with intermittent hot water.. there plumber (or anyone on this team) is incredibly unprofessional and inconsiderate of your time.. Keep track of it all. They are not responsive and truly need to stop being allowed to dump poor quality homes in this city and even worse service.
Great customer service from Manager Scott Kelley!! I purchased my townhome in January of this year when a different property/builder manager oversaw the homes and in May my garage door came unscrewed from the lever thing that pulls the door up and down. I recognized the builder/property managers truck because hes been frequently in our unit fixing up the last home in our section that just sold. I asked if he knew who I could call to fix my garage. He politely asked to look at the issue and then said he could fix it right there, which was music to my ears! He also informed me where to go to make a claim if anything else needed fixing while still in warranty, so I also extremely appreciated that even though he could of just directed me to the site to let someone else deal with, he still offered to fix it right then and there. He was extremely professional and I couldnt have asked for anything more from a builder/property manager! Needless to say, Im very glad City Choice Homes has Scott Kelley as one of their managers and it definitely makes me feel reassured about my decision to purchase a home with them!
Juan the supervisor over the builders was very helpful and professional throughout the entire building process of my home with City Choice. He was quick to respond, and guided me through the final two walk through before I took ownership of the home. He has great attention to detail!
This was our first home purchase and we are so pleased with the way it went! It was all thanks to Juan who took us through all the steps. He went out of his way to fix some small issues personally and stayed until all the issues we blue taped were taken care of. He was professional and he really knew his stuff! We’re so glad we decided to go with City Choice Homes and highly recommend them!
City Choice has been such a great experience for my husband and I. As first time homeowners they have made the process easy. They are always available when we have a question. Albert is great with customer service. We had some worries and he was on it right away and helped fix it. I highly recommend buying a City Choice house!
Nestor did great job with fixing some of the issues I had inside the house. He deserves 5 stars. I will not give any credit to City Choice. If you moving in to a newly constructed home DO NOT DO NOT move until everything is fixed on your list. They will tell you that all would be fixed by the time of closing and it will not. Do not close until all is fixed.
Always having issues with the quality of the home. I’ll be in the home 2 years in February 2021 and here’s the next project to deal with. I wouldn’t buy a home from them again.Edit from the original post. 08/30/21 - dealing with a leak coming from upstairs. Warranty over apparently so no help from builder. Also found out the roof was not built up to code, no vents were installed on the roof.
Juan is amazing and I love how he is so quick and prompt since I moved in this new house. I had some AC issues but I appreciate at the last minute they were able to have the construction guys knock on my door to stop my house from being a miserable 59 degrees lolAlso when it came down to my garage not closing all the way. I love how the guys were consistent with trying to reach out to me to make sure my issues were fixed.
City Choice does not care about you after you close on your home. If you buy in a development that is not fully constructed you will deal with plenty of contractors that do not care about you or your house. There have been several times where the garage is obstructed by equipment, contractor vehicles, cords servicing other homes, trash, etc. The list goes on. The construction people do not respect the neighborhood at all and City Choice does close to nothing to control this. There is constantly builder trash all over the street. The builders damage occupied homes while building other homes and do not have the common courtesy to inform home owners. You have to seek it out yourself and notify city choice. I would not recommend City Choice to anyone.
We purchased the home built by City Choice at March 2017. My home roof LEAK badly every time when there is rain. The ceiling is soaking wet and the leak was non-stop. The home is damaged due to these leaks and inside was like a pond filled with water. Not just our home, the neighbors next to us and from the back total have more than 20 homes were leaking. Some homes the hard wood floor were popped up and the walls paints were peeling off due to the water that getting into the home.Since 2017, they tried to fix it because EVERY TIME it rains, the roofs LEAK. They have NEVER fix the issues because they never hire a real roofer to fix , instead, they are buying time hopefully to get their warranty went out. So, they are just sending people here to put chalking on the roof but actually the roof has design issues that cause the leak. Every year since 2017, there were fixing such as repaint the walls, the ceiling, electrical problem due to the rain. Till now 2020 July, there are leak again last month when Houston had a big rain in June. The roof leak again!!! Now they refuse to come fix it. The last fixing of the roof was on September 2019, but the fixing was not completed yet. So the roof leak again !!! The warranty should continue from the date of last fix. now they decline to do so. DO NOT buy their homes simply you dont want to buy a brand new home with the roof leak. Our neighbors are still having on-going building issues never ends!!!
This “Five Star” rating is for Juan who was the representative of City Choice taking care of our home. We did not necessarily have a “Five Star” experience with City Choice but Juan was able to rectify all of our issues and has been going above and beyond. Juan is an excellent representative of this organization.City Choice created a lot of hiccups in our home buying process that I was not happy with but I think Juan did an excellent job.
We are very pleased with our City Choice Home . The quality and style of their product is truly great. The process of acquiring our home couldnt have been better, due to the excellent service and communication of everyone involved. Thank you to Bruce and Juan for going above and beyond with your attention to detail and efforts to keep homeowners happy.
Great experience with City Choice and Scott Kelley. I am very pleased with Scott, he did a great job on my final walk true, explained everything what I need it to know. led us through the blue tape walkthrough and has been proactively checking on me since moving in to make sure everything in the home is working properly. A professional! Even after I moved in Scott is available to help and assist in any way. I will recommend Scott Kelley.
Great folks to work with! Mike Afshari and his team of agents were godsends. They make the experience for a first time buyer so easy -- if ever I had a worry or concern, I could give any of them a call and theyd take care of it in a jiffy. To top it all off, City Choice even purchased a home warranty for me! I may miss talking to them so often :) but at end of it all, theres a gorgeous home waiting for me!
This is my first home, but my first home buying process has been the worst experience in my life and only thing I wish for is that I can turn back the time. I sincerely wish that people will read this message and if they really want to hear my side of the story I have proofs to share and I do not mind you contacting me.Basically, once you sign the paper you are on your own. Before I decided to write this review, I have read all the reviews that were written about this company and what caught my attentions on all the low rated reviews is that this company promises a lot of things, but they do not deliver. This is what I am going through. Also, the house is pretty on the outside, but if you are detail oriented like some people, you will see a lot of defective parts inside and outside of the house. For those of you who are first time home buyer like me and do not know anything about home buying, you will think that the house is perfect, but in fact you will find that it is build only to pass the minimal standard inspection and there are a lot of defects within the house. But, the builder will say, this is normal part of the home construction. This may be true, however the problem arise if you cant get any help.Going back to the first point, before you sign the paper, the company will be very easy to contact. In fact, sometimes they will give you a call first. They are very proactive. Also, they promise you many things, but they do not deliver, or they wont deliver to your satisfaction. So, I will strongly urge you to write everything down in the contract. Because once I put the earnest money and signed the contract, the most difficult thing was to get replies from the sales person of the company, Mike. Even a week before the closing date, there were so many problems within the house such as leaking master bath shower, duct on the attic was detached, the wood trims were not done, A/C wasnt working.. etcetc. When I asked for help, no one replies. All they say is to talk to the city home choice warranty people. So, these people will not go extra miles for you. They will not treat you as one of their community family, they treat you like a business relationship where they will only help you what is written on the contract. I have been living in this house, but there are so many things that need attention and I frankly donot think that it will get fixed in timely manner. I dont really know where I can reach for help either. Mark was the project manager and he acts the same way. Once the closing date is passed, I am on my own. It is the most difficult thing to get in touch with these people. If I was the first home buyer and looking for a home, I would not recommend this company. There are a lot of things that you have to be aware of, and if you are not careful about it, you may end up with a situation where you cant turn back. I sincerely wish people would read this and consider this review seriously. I am going to attach all the things that I have noticed so far that hasnt been addressed yet, so at least people will listen to my side of the story.1st picture is the blinds. They will say blind will be included in the contract, but doesnt specify what tiers will be covered. as you can see you need a sunglass in the morning because the company does not believe including second tiers serve any purpose and you would think, as a buyer, that this is a common sense. 2nd picture shows the cabinet that has been just destroyed and torn apart. I found this out as I was organizing the cabinet. this is the master bathroom cabinet under the sink. 4th picture shows the nails sticking out of the power outlet, again found this out while I was trying to set up the trash can inside the cabinet under the island countertop. 5th picture shows a 2nd bathroom without finished wood trims.I have yet to hear back from the warranty people, but I hope this will catch their attention a little bit.Like I said before, there is no going back. If I can, would not buy anything from city choice group.
This was my first time buying a home and the service and care that Scott and his group gave to me was outstanding. He went above and beyond to personally see that any item that needed to be fixed before moving in was done and done well. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone looking to purchase a home!
We cant say enough about City Choice Homes. We are so happy with our EADO home purchase not like our previous builder in the Heights whose communication skills was non existant. We had a few items on our punch out list when we bought the house and the warranty deparment took care of each item quickly.Thank you City Choice Homes for our beautiful home and great customer service.
City Choice have not stop the roof leaking since I bought my townhouse. They came to fix my roof last September 2019 and since the CORVID-19 pandemic they told me my warranty is no longer valid...From City choice warranty - any last repair - will get one year warranty on my roof.
Juan Muniz has been extremely helpful to my client and I throughout this finalization process. He has been timely and courteous and has gone above and beyond what he could to make this a smooth transition for my buyer to move in to her new home. Were excited to see the finished product and close. Thank you Juan!!
Juan was super helpful, attentive, willing to listen to all my requests, and most importantly, very professional. I preferred doing all communication through and with him than with Cesar, the unprofessional, rude, and cocky realtor. I would recommend him to anyone for their walkthrough. Kudos to you, Juan on making a Very unsatisfed customer satisfied at the end!Allen.
Scott was fantastic! He made sure that all repairs I requested to have done were completed prior to my move-in date. When I thought there was an issue a few weeks after move in with the disposal, Scott and his team found a time convenient to my schedule to inspect and make the repair.
I would like to say as a first time home buyer there are various issues and uncertainties that you too are learning. Id like to thank John for helping get my home squared away as needed. Hes quiet, and very helpful. During the closing phase I met Juan M. who expained everything prior to close. He understood what I was saying and fixed it. He went above and beyond and I appreciate his effort. Thank you!!!
Our first home purchase in the Houston area went smoother than expected. Thank you to Juan for his attention to detail and customer service. He made sure our house is a home we will love for years to come!
Do not buy new house form this builder and very careful if you do. I bought a brand new house was built by them. After our first walk through I caught so many error they made and force them to fix it before closing. Final walk through still see same problem that is not fix. They trick me in go head and close the house while they work on it. After we close the house the problem still not fix. Contact them, they refused to response and will not fix the problem.
Truly phenomenal experience as first time home buyers. Expectations were blown away by Juan’s patience, attention to detail, professionalism, responsiveness, and firm desire to make sure we were happy. And we ARE!! Thank you for everything Juan!
I bought a new property on Naomi Avenue/Street from City Choice Homes (CCH). I closed it on the April 14, 2017. I am facing the similar issues/story brought up by previous buyers. For the past three (3) weeks, I have been taking time off from work to be present in my new Naomi home to wait for the CCH workers to come to fix/correct the outstanding repair times. But, they did not come as they promised. It has been a waste of my time. The worst: the email communication with the CCH superintendent, who oversees and coordinates the repair items, does not work because he has seldom replied to my email and he does not give me his phone number for contact and following up. I am now using the City Choice Homes - Customer Care process to have the outstanding repair items taken care of. I give CCH a chance to prove themselves that they are serious about taking care of their customers before and after the Closing. Meanwhile, I only give them two (2) stars. Thuy Nguyen
I want to give a big thank you to Juan Muniz and his team for helping my parents and myself fix the minor things in the house located in the Rice Military area. Juan is quick to respond, easy to talk to, professional, and very understanding of our needs. I really appreciate everything you have done for us, Juan! Exceptional work! Big round of applause to you and your strong team!
Extremely poor customer from Cassandra T and Crystal. This company happily takes your money but doesn’t cover anything. Appears the premium paid covers marketing expenses instead helping homeowners.
Update a year later: We were told and several other property owners that CIty Choice would provide guest parking when purchasing the home. A year later, they said they will not be doing so. You cannot park outside of the gates since police have given out tickets for doing so.This isnt the first time theyve gone back on their word. If youre looking into purchasing a home here, beware that there will be no guest parking.________________________________________________________Bought a new home here and they said that they have set up the wiring for internet for the house. What they failed to mention was that there is only wiring on the actual house but nothing to connect it to on the property. There are no lines for us to connect to that should have been put in place before construction. Any new home buyers will be in the same situation as us...good luck having internet as the internet company has not come out for over 2 months now to install the work that should have been done long before.
I bought a home with City Choice Group about a month ago. They were very professional and responded quickly to inquiries. Before closing they addressed all of my concerns and even went the extra mile after closing took place when they were no longer required to care. Overall great experience and I would recommend to anyone.
I am currently looking for a home in the East Downtown area and wanted to stop by the open house being hosted at Eado Square. Upon arrival at the development, I witnessed some people standing on one of the houses’ roof. They weren’t doing construction or anything, they were just standing around. One of the men standing on the roof was screaming at two individuals standing in the driveway (I later learned that the man was the superintendent for City Choice and the two individuals were home owners at Eado Square). The superintendent was complaining in regards to fixing the roof, indicating that he was not insured, and that he should not have been up there. Additionally, he was yelling at the home owners and stating that they should be grateful since he wasnt being paid and that no other superintendent in all of Houston would be doing what he was doing.I talked to those home owners and learned that they have lived in Eado Square for less than a year, but both have been dealing with a significant number of issues since they moved in. How does a brand new home have so many issues? After hearing about the issues those home owners are facing, as well as witnessing the horrible way the “superintendent” was talking to the home owners, I have decided I will purchase my home from another builder in East Downtown. The location of Eado Square is nice, and the houses look great, but I don’t want to deal with a new home with builder issues and have to deal with poor customer service.
The BEST thing about City Choice Homes is Bruce Johns!! I havnt had any issues out of the ordinary after purchasing my City Choice Home. When I do Bruce follows up to make sure the work is completed right and on time!!
Juan was extremely helpful and thorough. As a first time home buyer, he was helpful in pointing out things I wouldn’t have noticed. He was patient in answering my questions and followed through with requests.
The Developer/General Contractor does not pay his Sub-Contractors. That is why there are so many issues with the Construction of the Homes and the Warranty Procedure is horrendous. The Companies actually doing the work are not getting paid and the work suffers or is just patched together just to get an inspection.
I had a pleasant experience working with Mr. Juan Muniz. He personally promised to take care of any outstanding items before closing day and has gone above and beyond to make sure that everything is ready.
This is our first house and we give 5 stars to our experience thanks to great customer service Juan Muniz provided during the final stages of the construction. He took care of all details until completion.
The neighborhood is poorly managed.Construction leave garbage and debris (including nails) everywhere in homeowners yards, driveways, and streets. Many major issues with the new homeI have hope things to get better but there is a long way to go.
Juan Muniz was such a big help with the closing of my home. I wasn’t able to move in immediately but he kept me informed of what was going on with my new place and even mowed my lawn when I’m it needed it. Great customer service. He was great! Thanks Juan!
Great experience with City Choice and Scott Kelley. Scott led us through the blue tape walkthrough and has been proactively checking on us since moving in to make sure everything in the home is working properly. A professional!
I have had a great experience thanks to Juan. Now don’t get me wrong there have been issues, but I know once I tell Juan they will be handled. This isn’t my first home so I understand some things don’t go as planned but a quick repsosne and customer service makes the homeowner feel better. Thankful for Juan.
Scott was absolutely wonderful from the very beginning. He was so patient and informative. Scott has been accessible for any needs. I love my house and I know I will have this home for a very very long time.
A big thank you to Juan and his team for building my first home. Juan has been amazing throughout the entire process, even worked on Christmas to make the deadline.. Thank you Juan for everything!!
Juan Muniz has been extremely helpful on getting things fixed and done before closing. As well as after closing some minor things had came up here and there and he still makes a great effort on getting the issue fixed.
I love once you have agreed on a property. The team has everything readily available with step by step directions to the closing table. Excellent experience!!
Bought a home in the Park at Yale community in June.City choice didnt disclose the fact there was no internet connection. Its been almost two months and still no internet!
My first time home buying experience was a nightmare. In my opinion there are much more experienced builders who produce better quality.
Scott and the City Choice folks have been extremely patient and responsive from blue tape to post-close. Could not have asked for a better experience --these guys are going to do what they promised to do!
Overall we have a good experience in the process of buying the house, i want to thank Juan Muniz Superintendent of city choice for take care of the little details we want to be fix in the house, have it ready and clean on time for closing.
It was a pleasure working with Juan Muniz. He was very kind and helpful and made friendly suggestions on my home improvements.
Juan was very helpful and very professional in taking care of every single thing that we needed. He showed top notch customer service and is very knowledgeable. Thanks again!
City group homes are amazing, just like the customer services, always there for what the customer needs, special inquieries and any other questions, I highly recommend it!
Great experience so far (just closed on the house). City choice has created a wonderful product. Would definitely recommend to others.
Constant roof leaks since purchase of home. Good luck trying to get a hold of anyone for help. Run don’t walk
Everything built to high standard. Scott has been great fixing and addressing issues quickly. Great to work with!
Juan was a huge help and easy to work with! Highly recommend.
They are the worse builders in Houston do not buy homes from themDONT BUY CITY CHOICE HOMES!

Juan and Gary and everyone have been great!
