Nothing but issues since we closed from my note going up $500 on a fixed mortgage to getting multiple calls begging me to refinance because they claim they made an issue with my loan. it doesn’t benefit me in any way so I declined so they just have new people call to ask me to do it!! bo smith also made our buying experience Terrible!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

The process was easy to follow just a few delays from our part due to not knowing that I could scan documents with my iPhone 12. Oscar Chow and his Team handled my loan very professionally from the start, when we started a contract with Esperanza Homes in January 2023. Our only concern as we got closer to the final lap on closing the deal, was that we wanted to lock the interest rate when it was lower. We ended up with over 7% vs 6% at the end. For a retiree like me thats extra money I will need to dish out monthly. We would have wanted that 6% at the end.

Were experienced home buyers and I must say Cornerstone Home Lending made our new home purchase the easiest we have EVER experienced. The bulk of the process was done on-line so when we came to the actual closing, we had to sign several documents, but it was a fraction of what we have experienced previously.The closing agent was fully prepared and she zipped us through things in about 15 minutes. Talk about a nice surprise!!! That was as painless as possible.I cant say enough positive about Cornerstone Home Lending.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Grace Home loans, a subsidy of Cornerstone Home Lending really screwed up big time.We were attempting to build a home. During the pre-approval process, we disclosed loan information to our loan officer who we were assigned to, Niiesha Earls. Well, some of our loan information we disclosed to her made us ineligible but she never told us. During the loan process, Nieesha quit and failed to relay the information over to the new loan officer. As a result, we were forced to learn that we couldnt close on a home we had been building for over 4 months. We were not upset that we were denied, but the lack of organization with this company is unheard of. We literally were communicated this 5 days before closing forcing us to pivot and find somewhere to go. We spent thousands of dollars on movers, inspections, storage, forfeiture of security deposits, hotel rooms all as a result of their failure to properly vet the loan process. This was incompetence at its finest. We were lucky enough to get our earnest and option money back from the builder but that was only a chunk of the money spent as a result. They initially told us no but retracted after I left a poor review.I filed a complaint with Cornerstone and someone named Nicole opened up an investigation. She called me several times during the process which seemed good but it was all to basically tell me, ooopps, sorry for our mistake and all the money you lost, but have a good day. They do not communicate with you, they do not respond without borderline pestering them and they simply dont know what theyre doing.I would highly recommend you do not choose this company if at all possible. Its an absolute joke. I dont know how their reviews arent 0 stars. My wife and I are building a strategy for legal action. We will NOT let them get away with this poor practice.

Oscar was amazing to work with. He helped us get into our home without a huge payoff amount unlike another lender we inquired with. She was asking us to pay down over 14k in debt and then closing costs on top of that. Oscar helped us get the rate we needed, was very communicative with the process. We were able to come in after work to get answers to questions about needed documentation and he even invited us in to explain in detail underwriter requests so we can ensure they got exactly what was needed and how we could get it. Most everything was able to be done remotely through email. Quick responses through email. We were able to close quickly, too. Highly recommend this friendly lender.

Words cannot properly express how pleased I am with my Cornerstone experience. I have pretty good credit, pretty good employment history, and just all around a pretty good application for a mortgage. We had a number of unusual aspects to our home purchase, which meant that the financing process was quite tricky. Then, due to issues with the seller, the transaction was delayed several times. Through all of this, the Cornerstone team was unfailingly positive and solutions-focused. They worked with us through all of the difficulties and were always there to provide support. Heather Smith NMLS# 421355 was a good Mortgage Loan Officer. She needs however to be more responsible on returning phone calls in a timely manner and she also needs to return phone messages as well.Being a great Loan Officer requires responsiveness and willing and able to combing through all avenues to get the deal to completion. There are more responsible Loan Officers on the market.

Worst lender I ever had. Talked me into a 95% mortgage on my new home. Expecting to recast it after sale of my old home after 90 dayThey sold it to another bank within one week. I also sent them the first month payment two days before I was contacted by the new bank that they needed a payment. Now Cornerstone who cashed my check can’t find the entry to refund my money. So o have been trying to get back my $2500 from them. The original team that handles my money won’t even return my calls. Be careful if you use them. They will promise you things and then dump you mortgage as fast as the can.

Adam Ahmad and his team at Cornerstone Home Lending were *key* allies in my purchase of a new home. I honestly do not believe that I could have done it without his team. They are knowledgeable, honest and understanding.Adam established a trust with me that was essential for purchase of my house. I contacted cornerstone based on a recommendation to use a local lender vs using a generic big bank for my vacation home purchase. They were fantastic to work with at first as they got me approved without issue the same day and I now had two approvals for my purchase.However the approval did not align with what I requested, I received the same rate as the big bank even with the same terms and conditions even after I provided my confirmed approval so that could be competitive. When I called to discuss my concerns they chose to not address them and rather tell me the primary office lead would call me back to discuss.This was 6 days ago, I still have not received a call back. So after all my efforts to choose to do business locally I am left feeling used to simply get another approval on their list. I will be doing business with my bank instead who has treated me great start to finish as they want my business.

I can 100% say I do not recommend Cornerstone for lending. I tried multiple times to work with Pam Eastwold, not once but twice, and each time she blew me off. I would call, email, and text her, and she would never reach back out. Pam pulled my credit twice. The first time she asked me to fix certain things, I did.I reached back out, she pulled my credit again, and she stated she would get back with me and that everything looked good, and she never did even after several calls, VM’s, and emails.I don’t know if she doesn’t like working with first-time homebuyers, people of color, or just being plain unprofessional but definitely look elsewhere if you want to be treated with some type of courtesy and professionalism because this company definitely isn’t it.12/2/21 Update:Pam reached back out to me and apologized. Paul Vincent really knows his stuff. Great lending team with a deep wealth of knowledge. They treat you right every step of the way. I even put Paul through his places one night, requesting a wealth of information just for my personal reference. The guy actually stayed late to put it all together for me himself. Thats right, the big dog stayed late to do me a favor that had nothing to do with a loan, but the information that helped me narrow my home search. I had to give him my business after that. They went above and beyond time and time again to help us get into our home and the entire process was seamless.

We closed on our home in Early Jan. We started talking to Christian and Pam to obtain all of the items we would need for the loan in October of 2017. They have a great portal that easily shows what is needed, what needs to be complete and what stage of the loan we were in. They closed our VA loan effortlessly with no delays. Absolute amazing experience from start to finish working with Nick and his team. After hearing several horror stories from friends on the stress of buying a home, I was mentally prepared for the shoe to drop at some point, and it literally never did. Nick sends you a weekly report on the status of your loan, and they had all paperwork to the title company a week in advance. Cornerstone did a great job approving our loan. What they are not so good at is calculating the taxes for your property. I believe and I have read reviews from other people with this same line of thought......Cornerstone wants to get the sale, they want to get the loan, they low ball taxes so that your house notes and escrow appear to be lower than they actually are. To date I have spoken with two people in their customer department, both of which were not customer service oriented. They were getting annoyed that I would not accept their non-answer answer.Use Cornerstone at your own risk, be sure to research tax rates for your area to be sure that your escrow has been calculated correctly. I have seen comments from Cornerstone on some of the posts, many of which had the same issue as me. It seems that nothing is being done to correct the issue.

This was our first home purchase, and therefore a new and intimidating experience, which made us all the more grateful to have Nader, Jason, and Anni at the Hermosa Beach, CA location coaching us through the process. The entire team is not only very experienced, knowledgeable, and savvy, but their transparency and availability gave us confidence we were working with someone we could trust. Beyond getting us the best interest rate available at the time, they have excellent customer service. As part of the pre-qualification process, we uncovered credit theft and Nader guided us down the best path to resolution so we could get back on track quickly. They also do everything possible to execute on an expedited timeline, if necessary. An unexpected event occurred for our sellers less than two weeks before the close of escrow, which resulted in a request to cut five days out of the loan process. The team pulled off a miracle and got the loan completed with time to spare. After working with Nadars team at Cornerstone and dealing with two less than ideal hiccups along the way, we now understand why every selling agent that we encountered on the search was encouraged to hear that he was our mortgage broker. Horrible home lending company. I refinanced my house with this company and was promised big savings and lower payments which ended up not being true.The loan officer only paid 1/2 of my property taxes and even after sending him the other 1/2 of the bills he reassured me I had nothing to worry about and that all taxes had been paid. A few months later I got new tax bills with late fees on them that ended up being paid from my escrow account after I resent them to them; creating a shortage of over 9k. This made my payments increased over 1k monthly. After reaching out and trying to get some sort of response from Cornerstone on this matter, not even the late fees were covered by them and no response has been given.I have now paid off my shortage and they can’t even fix my new payment amount for the current month knowing that I had called them three times to get that updated. The answer was always, “we’d need to wait for it to post on your escrow account”If you are thinking to finance or refinance your home do not do it with Cornerstone Home Lending. You will be disappointed if you end up having issues with the level of response and accountability from these people.

My experience with Cornerstone was one of the worst experiences of my life. I am not a vindictive person, but after what I just had to go through, everyone needs to know what they put me through. Believe it or not, Im going to give the short version of what happened.It all started with loan officer who was extremely dishonest and very disrespectful to me at times during the process. When I asked him if he could do something for me, he literally responded by text: I dont take orders from you. I have never been treated that poorly by someone handling my business.Shortly after we closed on our loan, I received a new job offer that would allow me to provide a much better life with high-quality therapy for my special needs son. This job offer was a 1099 situation. I took the job offer of course and have been able to take care of my special needs son because of it. Well of course this caused problems with the employment verification. I waited for several agonizing months for cornerstone to contact me and tell me what the **** was going on with my loan. They wouldnt communicate with me!!! They heard a rumor that I might refinance, so they were just hoping I would do that and go away. That is literally what the underwriter told me on the phone when I called her after waiting for weeks, well arent you going to refinance?. Those are the true colors of cornerstone: when I was faced with a very difficult life decision about how to care for my son, they just IGNORED me, and hoped I would go away.I finally had to go all the way up to an area manager named Craig Ronning to find out what the **** cornerstone was doing with my loan. After several phone calls with Craig, he basically said if I did not refinance with them or someone else, they would call my note due. Craig IGNORES me for a week while I was waiting to hear from him if I could refinance through Cornerstone with my new job. Are you sensing a theme now? This is who they are, they dont give a rats *** about their customers. All they care about is money. And they have ABSOLUTELY no sense of customer service.Refinancing a loan with 1099 employment is not hard to do, but cornerstone is to stupid to figure out how to do it apparently. Let me help you out cornerstone, Its called a phy-sic-ian loan, ya know, all those thousands of doctors coming out of medical school and residency who want to buy houses without any 1099 employment history? Yeah, that kind of loan. Their stupidity astounds me.So that was my last straw with them, I went somewhere else where I received AMAZING customer service! I didnt have to wait more than a few hours to have any questions answered from my new mortgage company. It was a seamless process from start to finish. The only joy this experience has brought me is that cornerstone will not receive another penny of my money. cornerstone is nothing but a bunch of pathetic, heartless, dishonest individuals that dont care about their customers. They certainly didnt care about me or my family. Through all of this, one of the worst parts of it all was their lack of communication with me. This company has grossly mishandled my escrow. They take out insurance policies when I already have insurance, they dont communicate with me about this, they ignore my requests to speak to someone about fixing their mishandlings. I am looking to move my mortgage, but I cant even get anyone to call me back. They make it SUPER easy to get a mortgage with them, and then they ignore your concerns and needs. If you choose to go with them, DO NOT let them manage your escrow. The servicing department has no clue what they are doing.

Closing went well and my broker did a great job. However; servicing is not good. have tried 6 times in last month to contact customer service and have either given up after 30 minutes on hold or have been disconnected. This, after having to listen to too many options just to get to another ON HOLD message.

We have used Cornerstone now twice, and both experiences were excellent. Kathleen Wilson work with us on weekends and evenings to answer our questions and help us through the process.

Planning to RECAST your loan DONT DO IT: My wife and were initially sold on the idea of recasting our loan once our original home sold. It was explained that recasting happens all the time and it would be easy. We were ready with funds 39 days into our mortgage with Cornerstone. at that time the mortgage had moved to the Cornerstone Service dept in NJ. Emails to this Server Dept can take 15 - 30 days just for a response. Do not expect to speak to a person that can answer questions about the following: PMI Wavier, Recast Process, Escrow waiver. Based on auto response emails from the Service Dept, my personal eta to remove PMI is 5 - 6 months AFTER we have curtailment payment. That adds to about $1000 in PMI payments that we were not warned about. Thank you Cornerstone!!!

Where do I begin? I have used many banks and mortgage companies, Wells Fargo, USAA, and a few internet mortgage lenders. None, near as great as Richard and his company. Historically, we have received great service from Paul and his team. This loan process did not go as smoothly as the previous ones.First Sr. Loan Processor (SLP) was replaced following multiple errors and miscommunications. All seemed to be going well with 2nd SLP until I got to closing. And, while I do accept some of the blame for what happened, I think this discrepancy should have been recognized by the SLP. My loan was not to have ANY escrow as part of the mortgage terms. None of our mortgages include escrow so this was not something new for us to request nor Paul to know we preferred. All prior disclosures were accurate in reflecting such. Then, shortly before closing (found after I went back to review the discrepancy), escrow was added to my loan terms without notice or explanation. At closing, when I pointed this out, I called the SLP to point out the issue. The SLP called the title company rep to say that changes to terms would require additional delays, fees and a higher interest rate if I decided not to close with existing terms. (Note: SLP has yet to contact ME to discuss how this error occurred.)I contacted Paul and his assistant, Josh, about this issue. After a few days, Josh contacted me to say that nothing could be done for at least 6 months when I could apply to refi the loan. Again, I contacted Paul and Josh explaining my dissatisfaction with the closing process for this loan including details about the history of the process and why I was unsatisfied with the outcome. I thought they might be able to offer an explanation or possibly some type of refund of fees for their part in this error. As noted, I accepted my part in not carefully reviewing the final set of disclosure documents prior to closing, but nothing had changed and my SLP had communicated nothing about changes in loan terms with me.It has been several weeks and I’ve yet to hear back from Paul or Josh with an explanation or an apology. I’m disheartened because we have used Paul and his team for multiple mortgage loans. And, I have referred him to several friends. I doubt that we will utilize his services nor refer him to others.

Worst company and very painful experience for me. Their software is a nightmare!I have been struggling to get $727 back for last 3 months on my escrow which they have not applied yet after receiving refund from my old insurance company. I have been in calls for hours with their support team and hours with the old insurance company because cornerstone rep told me that it was an issue at the old insurance company.. Finally it is the issue with cornerstone that they have not applied my check and despite followup there is no response... I wish i could sue them big time for this... What a waste of time!!!!!!!! I have to find first that my money is missing and then I have to fight to get my money back as if I am begging money from them!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I am totally pissed off and writing this review in the correct mood...Also, i paid additional payment of $12000 towards my loan, but the software charged me interest twice.. how awful is that?? come on cornerstone.. what is up??

Do not go with this company. i have been fighting for a year to get my escrow check. Nothing but headaches. Now i have to wait a couple more weeks, but the info always changes. Beware!!!

I cant give a low enough score. They have my escrows messed up by paying $2207 to my old insurance company. I pointed this out to them in dec 2014 but nothing has been done. Ive called in January, February, and asked management to help BUT they never call me back. I Emailed their help department, no replies. This companys service is hideous!and the loan officer bait and switched me on the rate and closing costs. Crooks
