Poor move in experience. As a Landlord myself, I inspect my property before any tenants occupies and make reasonable repairs. Day 1, my AC is not functioning, you can tell the AC filter has not been changed in months. 7 months pregnant in Texas heat after driving more than 12 hours for this relocation I’m highly disappointed. Additionally, I learned the yard upon move in is on the resident. The yard to the home that I took possession of yesterday is significantly overgrown. Pest control was not performed, walked into spiders and smashed insects up and down the carpet. The home was not broom cleaned, the bathrooms are just as filthy as they were left from the previous tenants.This was not a positive first impression and I hope that the experience improves.Follow-up- Day 3 on move in and still no AC. Of course called to follow up on the maintenance request and it’s 72 hours for resolve. Maintenance request was put in on Sunday. I was told that a technician will be out here tomorrow, of course it’s open schedule therefore I just need to wait on the Technician.To the Main Street Representative responding to these reviews, you are well aware that Landscaping even upon move in seems to be a tenant responsibility, and maintenance cannot be requested on your Resident Portal. I added photos of this yard, this is the condition that I’m meeting this property in. It’s a jungle out back!
We had so much damage due to the hurricane that we couldn’t even see our selves living in our home again, I am not going to lie the process of the repair was not the smoothest process however everything got fixed. I owe a huge thanks to Rosa Camacho she was a complete angel and took everything so seriously as if this was her home as well. I appreciate her kindness and she answered all my questions and concerns about any part of the repair process. Now that the damage is fixed no one can even tell there was ever any damage.

Avoid Main Street Renewal at all costs. This company is a complete disaster—poorly managed, utterly incompetent, and they couldn’t care less about their renters. We’ve been without water for days due to a plumbing issue that caused our guest bathroom to flood the entire downstairs floor, with water reaching up to my ankles. It’s been an absolute nightmare, and Main Street Renewal has done nothing to fix it.Their response to emergencies? Nonexistent. Maintenance requests are ignored, and good luck trying to get anyone to answer a call or email. Once they have your money, you’re on your own. They have zero regard for their tenants’ well-being, and the lack of urgency in resolving critical issues like this is appalling.I can’t emphasize this enough—never rent from Main Street Renewal. They are unprofessional, neglectful, and will leave you to suffer while they collect their rent. There are plenty of other property management companies out there—do yourself a favor and avoid this nightmare.
Jun was great! Our bathroom was leaking and they scheduled an appt right away. He called to let me know he was on his way. He came and checked out the issue, explained what was wrong, and fixed it. Excellent customer service from Juan!
Terrible misleading I just applied with a realtor and said everything was gonna be fine I have a voucher for haven creek y’all are wrong for taking ppl money! I’m a low income family with a disabled daughter told them all the information and had me paid for nothing . Now the realtor said to call them so they can tell me why …but why when I said I was approved by Ruben Estrada from five start rental really had my hopes up for haven street he y’all accept my offer but get some like this 😢😢😢😢😢😢
AVOID AT ALLLLLLL COST! I moved out in August leaving a security deposit of $1750 and paying additional rent due to my lease ending on 7/26 but the new property not being ready until 8/3. I was charged trash fees TWICE ($516.07 and $517.05), as the trash was left on the side of the house as normal being that trash pickup days was going to be after the move.Also keep mind, the fence was knocked down during the hurricane and in June and still wasn’t repaired by the time we were supposed to move. I was charged a landscaping fee of $287 recently. This had nothing to do with grass being cut because I paid every other week as this was regular maintenance which I had a lawn person for. They also charged me pet and pest fees and I HAD NO PETS!!!! $143.75 and $207.So they took the deposit of $1750, PLUS the amount of $1020 that I paid for the additional days, PLUS other fees, to total $3,599.70 but they sent me an email today conveniently charging me an additional $847.22 AFTER I got a text message from whoever repaired the fence just two weeks ago (not sure why I still get these messages )saying the repair was completed. Now allOf sudden and quite conveniently I owe an additional $847.22 in December but I’ve been moved from the property since 8/3. This isn’t right and I am disputing.I shouldve reported them for leaving me in the heat with temperatures over 90 degrees when the ac unit broke during our first month living there in July of 2023. We were without AC For almost a full month. I had to purchase window units and finally threaten to call the state and not pay rent on the day before it made a month. They found someone to fix the next day. All this is documented and I have records of the calls and receipts from Home Depot.Bottom line, rent fromAnyone but them. The reviews you are reading may seem like one offs, but trust me when I say where there’s smoke there fire.
Juan was our maintenance person he is very fast and efficient. He was very helpful and was able to fix everything we needed done. I will ask for him every time from now on.
Juan provided great customer services on getting to the issue with my thermostat. This was his first time coming out to resolve the problem. He replaced the fuse and thermostat, everything was resolved within 1 hr tops.
Worst management company I have ever dealt with. My floors in the kitchen started leaking in December and I immediately sent in a maintenance request to fix it. They came and looked at it but never fixed anything. A month went by and the leak started getting worse and brown liquid started seeping up through the floorboards. Again I sent in a maintenance request, this time they said they would get a third party to perform the work. The third party never reached out to set up the appointment, and at this time mold started forming all over my kitchen cabinets. Once again, I sent in a maintenance request to fix the flooring. I am allergic to mold and at this point the mold was making me sick, so I reached out to property management once again through the online portal and gave the 30-day notice to vacate. Under the lease, it specifies that you are able to terminate early due to unresolved maintenance issues causing health impacts which was occurring. Not once did property management reach out to resolve the issue. I completed the move out inspection and again, no one reached out to me from management. After about a week after I ended my lease, I received notice that I still owed money for the month even though I paid the prorated rate. I had at least 6 phone calls in the span of 2 days with customer service sending me to different departments that ultimately told me to email the move-out team that is not accessible by phone. I reached out to them and they only had automated/pre-meditated messages and would not respond to my emails after the first response. They have a horrible system for customer service and it is close to impossible to get in contact with them. The house is unable to be re-leased due to the mold yet they are still charging my account and everything is automatic.

Mauricio literally came out on a simple maintenance request and ended up basically remodeling my entire tub to fix the issues. He was polite, he explained why I was having an issue, he explained how he fixed it, he ran back and forth to home depot when he found another issue and never complained.

From start to finish this has been the absolute worst experience ever!! They will never ever call you back if you have a problem. Not to mention they took over half our deposit when we moved out for “cleaning fees” when lots of them were there when we moved in and the guy who was supposed to walk through the house with us so we could get as much back as possible never showed up. I hope we can save anyone else from going through the crap we’ve been through with this horrible company.

I rented a house with a pool that has nothing but problems.A month ago the pool pump went out and put in a work order. Missed using the pool for Fathers Day, 4th of July, my Daughters birthday. I pay higher rent for this house plus another $150 a month on top of my rent for pool service that I only get to use 4 months out of the year and now havent had a chance to even use it this year yet. Zero communication on when they are coming out to fix it even after 20 calls, texts and chats. All they say is they will send an e-mail to the department. Terrible customer service.

He has gone above and beyond for my family, helping us every step of the way as we settled into our new house. He was friendly, professional and responsive to our needs and concerns. As a current resident I can say this is by far the worst company I have EVER dealt with as a renter!! Since moving in the house was disgusting, the list of needed repairs was a joke and in most cases took several phone calls and complaints just to get things (halfway) fixed. The head maintenance guy Kevin is absolutely the best and has gone above and beyond to help me resolve the problems the company pushes aside. If it wasn’t for him I would’ve filed a lawsuit against the company.

They will respond to a public Google review in a matter of minutes, but private emails are a different story. I have been trying for weeks now to speak with someone who understands my situation fully with no luck. Almost all emails go unreplied and navigating departments on the phone will eat up hours of your time. All I need is help and understanding.Stay away from this company. Even if it’s your dream house it could very well turn to your nightmare if Main Street Renewal has a hand in it.My wife and I recently moved into a property, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to request to end the lease early. The request for early termination got denied, so I requested that they instead relist the home, and we will continue in the home until they found a new tenant to take over the lease, which they agreed to.Fast forward a couple of weeks and the home has still not been relisted on any rental websites. I check my email and there are 5 emails all from the same account in the span of 2 hours about a home inspection/move out details. I call the main office to understand what this confusing email was about.On this phone call I was told that since we had agreed to relist the home, that we had to vacate the home in order to relist it. This was never communicated over the phone or via email. Apparently, we were supposed to be out of the home on August 4, 2024. Today is August 12, 2024. Not only were we not informed we had to be gone before the home was relisted, but now there is a date with which we were supposed to be gone from the home. A date that was never communicated. It was suggested to me by the individual on the phone that we vacate as soon as possible. How are we supposed to vacate a home with no notice? Where will we live? I was under the assumption that we could still live in the home while putting the house back on the market. Nothing was communicated to me. Now I write this in between frantic packing because I have to be out of my home even though I am still actively paying rent.And lastly, the cherry on top. If we were supposed to have been gone from the property on August 4th and it’s August 12th, why has no one come to inspect the property in those 8 days if that’s what it takes to relist the home? They are taking advantage of the fact that rent will still be paid, so they can take however long they want to relist the home.Please stay away. Communication is severely lacking within this company, and if you ever need anything done, it will take weeks for it to resolve. Couple a lack of communication with a blatant disregard for the actual people living in their homes, this company doesn’t deserve anyone’s business.

If these thieves arent letting your AC unit die, your house flood, and your pool rot for a living, I have NO CLUE what these people do. This is the WORST residential decision Ive ever made in my LIFE. These people and the people they hire are a joke. Updating the new WORSE status of my property. The accounting department will not help assist you with anything I have had 4 incorrect charges placed on my account with no proof and Main Street with not refund or fix there mistake. They only state that it is an error but it’s unfortunately non refundable. I would never suggest anyone ever use this company!

Daysha Gaither was so professional and courteous! I had been having problems getting my lease off my email and she called me on a Saturday afternoon to help me research what the problem might be.The lease agreement had been sent on both September 3rd and 7th (which was the date we were talking) and there was no sign of it in my inbox.She said okay I’ll delete the original lease and send out a new one. For some strange reason, the deleted lease popped up! I was so excited I said, “Oh the lease just showed up!” Well, poor Daysha was so kind and patient in dealing with this old lady!!! She just took it right in stride and said, “ No, no that’s the one I deleted, but the new one is right behind it okay,” I felt as though she had taken my hand, patted it, and said that it would be okay!She explained to me that certain options would change, what I would need to domoving forward and who my rental agent was. She made sure that I fully understood what I needed to do, what the procedure was, and wanted to know if I had any questions! What a refreshing experience in today’s world!!!!Thank you Daysha!!!!!
Here we go again. I can’t believe I have to post something to get any attention to the matter. I lost electricity to the garage including the door and all the outlets. I have a refrigerator in there and I can’t lock the garage which has valuables in there. The vendor came every thing needs replacement. 8 days later no approval and this past weekend now no power upstairs. I called all weekend. No response. They say they sorry and never do nothing. I was lied too you can’t get and update or return phone call. There are serious electrical problems and they are not taking it seriously. The breakers need replacement and no one even tries anything. I seriously think the owners have no clue. Owners do your home work before using this company. I’m very sad about the way I been treated. I like the home. I don’t think they have enough knowledgeable maintenance or none at all. Disappointed.

Zero stars if I could. We have been living in a mold infested house. We have contacted them multiple times for the issue. It’s been almost a week since we have be able to get someone on the phone. The state has been notified because we paid out of pocket to have a mold inspection done. We have been very calm on the issue but it’s starting to get very irritating.

This company is the absolute worse. I looked at a property was advised the unit was available. Went to apply and the process was horrible they ask for documents with no explanation which ones were due at that time. Then I totally understand $50 application fee per adult. So my son paid $50 from the invitation that he received to complete his application. Once I logged back in for me it still showed a balance for $100 and would not let me adjust the amount even though half was paid. So myself and my realtor contacted the company spoke to Maria advised the unit was still available and it was nothing she could due about the payments call the main office Monday morning. But by 7:30 pm Saturday night after taking to Maria that morning I received a notice stating the property is know longer available wow that fast. I received a email Monday morning stating they regret to inform me my application was denied. Reached out to the company again to see what happened and why I was denied. Only for them to tell me I will get a notice in a few weeks and there was nothing else they could do. I seen the other reviews and was already thinking now I definitely would tell anyone run far from this company. They are some scammers if you ask me. They accept payments knowing the rules will not apply to what their asking for. They get 0 stars.

It is crazy to be writing a bad review with only living here not even 6 months and renting from them. My husband and I, moved 4 hours away and we thought we found a company that was actually going to be worth a damn. Not. Moved in, there are no racks in the dishwasher and they had to order a whole new dishwasher. This took a month. Fast forward to now. Our fridge goes out, and it needs to be replaced. It has been a total of 11 days still no fridge. Matter of fact the order for the fridge wasn’t even placed since two days ago although it was confirmed it was the fridge causing issues with our electric in the kitchen a week ago. Not only that, we rented our home with the expectation of how pictures came, right? This means the appliances as well. The fridge they are trying to replace this 25’ 2-door stainless steel fridge with a small 18’ fridge which is standard for an apartment unit. Not a 3-4 bedroom home. Don’t rent from them if you need timely repairs and have expectations of things not to be replaced with the cheapest possible repair. They are cheap, not time efficient, and they don’t care what amount of rent you pay.

THE WORST!!!!!! Do NOT rent a home from this company. After two days in my home i received a fine from HOA because my flower beds had weeds. Mainstreet refused to pay me back after i had to fix it. We got the floors professionally cleaned and repainted over any holes in the walls when moving out. We left the house in WAY better condition than we received it. We did not receive our $1800 deposit back. We tried emailing, calling 10+ times with no response. I even drove up to their office.... only to find it empty. A complete SCAM! Find another house. I promise you wont regret it.

If I could give them zero stars I would. This company basicly muscled me out of the unit because we could not come to a agreement on a rent increase. When I first moved into the unit it was 1245 and they wanted to change it to 1645 and my subsidy company would not agree. I continued to make my payments and they closed the portal to where I could not make a payment and they added an additional 800 from no where blamed it on a system error. I spoke with several supervisor reps on the phone when I was surprised with a eviction from the constable. I called back again and they told me not to show up to court because they were “handling it”. Thank goodness I didnt listen, I went to court and guess what their lawyers was their saying I owed them thousands of dollars. The judge was understanding and states I didnt have to pay them a dime but awarded them the property. As a single mom I was not ready to move or even have a deposit to move. They gave me 2 weeks to leave even after that I still had the supervisor and lawyers trying to figure out what happened but no one was able to get ahold of the proper person. Its really sad have they treat a tenured resident that never missed a payment and paid on time. They didnt even offer to give my deposit back. On top of the late and drawn out maintenance request. This was a good company but whoever took over is running it into the ground, if you know whats best dont rent from this company.
Now that I’ve finally moved out and everything is settled I would like to warn every single person about ever moving to any of this companies homes. It is literally one large slumlord company. They either don’t fix anything or take weeks to months to do it. A/C in our home never worked properly so the electrical bill for the 1,300 sqft home was $800 + a month ! Go to the better business bureau and look for yourself how many complaints this company has .
Do not rent with this company!!!!! They will try every way they can to charge you and withhold your money even if it’s their fault. These people should not be in business. They will NEVER give you a call back even if they say they will. They will put you out on the street if they feel like it. They had us sign a lease to start on a specified date but they wouldn’t let us move in until 2 days later because of no fault of our own. I can’t even list every reason we’ve had to call them because of weird charges, their mistakes,and they have made us pay for every stupid charge even when they mess up. They tried to back out of our lease when we were moving cross country because the leasing “specialist” was an idiot and his manager even told us he didn’t know what he was doing. We only want other people to know how terrible this company is. They DO NOT care about their tenants only their money. Don’t trust this business with your family!!
If I could give them zero stars I would. Me and my S/O put in an application for one of there houses and were denied within 4 hours they charged us $100 for the application and cant even give us a reason as to why we were denied. We both have full time jobs and easily clear the threshold for what it cost to live in the house. We have both had our jobs for atleast 4 years and our credit isnt the worst but also not the best. Full warning to anybody looking to get into one of the houses from this company.

Technical issues, unexplained additional fees, and misleading availability information left my client feeling frustrated and misled. Urgent improvements are needed for transparency and fairness. Report Leilani Cordova ( listing agent for Ms renewal in Houston) on the HAR website for falsification. They don’t take Section 8 , don’t waste your time nor money.Edit: their website says someone has to move in within 21 days but housing usually takes longer than that- we applied last year and got denied b/c of high student loans debt( I don’t think a non- section 8 voucher holder would have went through this)- they have nice homes but they stay on there longer than any average listing who actually takes the voucher.- I don’t understand how they expect someone to have good credit and still be on Section 8 usually referrals from previous landlords could be used in place for this
I will never move forward on a property again, until I do my research. All I can say is this type of behavior is unacceptable, so slow at taking care of issues, such as cracked foundation, rust, mold, ect…I keep getting sick, I am so ready to move out of this place.

If you have a HCV don’t apply here. They know housing takes longer than 21 days and still allow participants to apply and keep their application fees. They have outrageous requirements for HCV participants and I believe it’s just to keep the money you pay for the applications. Don’t waste your time or money trying to apply with these people. I believe they really do not want to rent to HCV participants because if they did they would not require such crazy timing from housing.
This company is literally the worst! Communication Issues for sure! If you have HOUSTON Housing Or Harris COUNTY Housing PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! They DONT Honor these vouchers because they CANT FINALIZE THE MOVE IN 14 DAYS! Housing takes at least 30-45days after the RTA IS GIVING. They want the whole process done in 14 days, A STRICT Policy I’ve been told DAYSSSS after waiting on a leasing agent to return my call or email. I called back because I needed answers a 45minute call and FOUR Transfers later I talked to a leasing agent that basically said… “oh well find you somewhere else cause we only allow 14days!” HORRIBLE!

We’ve been without a/c for 1 week now with the temperature reaching 90 degrees and above in Texas. To get an update, we have to continuously call until we reach someone and even then a time estimate or status can not be provided. We were told on Wednesday that the part needed to fix the a/c was ordered and getting expedited but we were told today, Friday, that it was actually not approved and we were not given a reason why. These conditions are not “habitable” and it’s highly unacceptable we do not have a solution to this issue yet.

These ppl are the WORST 2 deal with. They will allow their property to fall apart rather than repairing or replacing things that need to b fixed/replaced. Their call center is even worst. They do not take work orders and when you make one through the portal as that’s the only way to report problems. They refuse to check them in a timely fashion. They refuse to acknowledge your emergencies as such. PLEASE THINK AGAIN WHEN DECIDING TO RENT FROM THEM. My rent is paid on time monthly and they only care about rent increases. I’m over it…..
You basically have to have good credit to get approved. No collections, delinquency or anything like that to qualify. They say no minimum credit score. They need to list everything that disqualify you on website. So if you have old collections or deficiencies do not apply here.
Worst leasing company ever!!!! Firstly no one in the customer service department actually helps you out. We rented one of their property for 2 years and they took away most of our money. My lease ended on March 17 and we moved out of the house in first week of March still they took our whole month rent stating that they will refund ussecurity deposit. We got our refund for almost half of the amount we actually paid.. The charges were for lawn maintenance for which we literally paid from our pocket and got it done. When we moved to that property lawnwnot all mai. We hired someone to clean the lawn throughout the year. We asked them for pool screen maintnece and they never came to our house fixed it even though we opened a ticket. They charged us for the pool charges as well.We called couple of times to get them fix the issue but no one really wants to help and just wants us to write multiple emails of which we never get the reply.
Main street owns majority of rental properties not by owner. As prices increases state wide, they have no problems up-charging you. $200+ yearly. (1,600.00) to ( 1,900.00) not including utilities.If you need something fixed in your rental house, you can leave a message as they do not pride themselves in speaking to you in person. They love automated communications, after you left a brief message about a ac issue. This will not be fixed or resolved for at least 3 months.Be prepared, have a generator to plug into a portable ac unit. Money is important over a human being #greedflation#update: we are officially moving out from under this greed corrupt company. As they will double charge fee upon moving out. Our last day is October 7th they insist of charging $1,900 more as a fee (more than like not getting my deposit back despite how clean you have the place). The $1900 charge is for the rest of October! Thats right, when you are moving, they will charge you the rest of the month when your not occupying the house. Get your lawyers and attorneys ready you will need it.
Worst experience renting a house I’ve ever experienced! The maintenance is great! But the customer service is the most horrible I’ve ever experienced!!! You can never speak with anyone except the customer service reps who are no help! I’ve paid for the security deposit, prorated and monthly rent and could not move in for 7 days and have no way to get that money back for those 7 days I paid for and didn’t have access to the house!!!
Already starting off on the wrong foot. Do not lease from this company. I signed a lease 2 weeks ago and specified I would be bringing my own renters insurance. Last Friday as I go to pay the first months rent up front I see that I’ve been charged for their insurance when they already have proof I’m bringing my own. I request the fee be removed and nothing is done they tell me to pay the fee and they’ll refund me later. If I don’t pay I’m at risk of not being allowed to move in. So I pay because I need to move ASAP.Their portal tells me my payment didn’t go through so I submit the payment again. Next thing I know 2 payments were pulled from my bank account. I contact them for a refund of the second payment and they tell me that refunds are processed in the order they are requested so they can’t even give me an estimate on when I’ll have my money back.Today is supposed to be my move in day. I was told on move in day I’d have an email telling me how to access the property. It’s almost noon and I’ve received NOTHING. I called, texted, emailed and have yet to hear anything. They said they’ll contact me with information and in the meantime to check my spam folder.At this point they have 2 months rent up front, all proof of utilities, a signed lease and I can’t access the property to move.This is absolutely unacceptable and ridiculous how can you call yourself a leasing company if not a single person can do anything to help me other than to send an email to another department.This is outrageous and when I asked if I could cancel the lease to move somewhere else they told me I’ll have to pay the rental fees until someone else signs a lease for the property. I’ve paid and provided everything I’m supposed to and they can’t even provide me a date or time when they’ll let me access the property.
Absolutely the worst property management in the city of Houston. 17 unanswered emails, follow up calls get put through a call center and you end up in this endless chain of helpless unanswered questions. I moved into a Main Street renewal property and for the first three days I couldn’t even get the code to enter the home, gate or find anyone who could get me the info. Walked into property find the place to unclean and spent two days just cleaning it to a point to move in (still no responses on getting access in). There is not enough space on here to list the continued issues with main street especially at the Pinemont Drive location.The only positive reviews listed are from employees friends and family, and tenants who were provided reduced rent if provided customer review.
Had an electrician come out to the house on December 2022 because a breaker needed replacing. He said our breaker box was so old that its a fire hazard, the whole thing needed to be replaced. Called Main Street Renewal, who we lease through, and today is the 5th of July. This STILL hasnt been done despite multiple calls, multiple promises. Ive no faith it ever will be done.July 4th the AC goes out, dies. They cant have someone come and look at it until the 11th. Its 94 degrees with a heat index of 100+ all week. Absolutely unacceptable.The call center gives me the run around constantly, cant answer questions, wont provide updates, cant seem to get anything done. I understand theyre probably just working with what theyre given, but a call to the call center is just a waste of time it seems.If you have the option to lease from anyone else? Lease from someone else. If you find that this company is buying your house as youre already living in it? Move immediately. Youre in for a bad time.Not sure why my rent goes up each year when the service seems to get worse and worse by the month.

Let’s just start with saying… I did find a beautiful home using Main Street Renewal but the process was very stressful and I almost gave up multiple times. Not sure if it’s because of the employees are working remotely and not able to communicate with each other properly or just the lack of competency and training that the staff has. Even though I gave them two stars I still recommend this company to my friends and loved one because I did find a dream rental home. I always just put the disclaimer out there for whoever I refer to them to stay on top of things and not get discouraged in the process. Worth the wait in my situation and hopefully my time as a renter with this property management company will remain pleasant.
Too bad I cant give 0 stars. I moved in my house on May 29th 2022. The same day that I moved in I called them as I had a roach infestation in my kitchen, the garage outlet was not working, I had no power to my bathroom, the smoke detectors were constantly going off, my air conditioner would not shut off even on auto, and so many other issues wrong. In all I put in about 8 maintenance requests within the 1st week of moving. As of today July the 1st Im still dealing with 4 of these issues. I called last week on the 24th and let maintenance know that there was a mouse in my house and that the siding to the back of my house house was not attached at the bottom which was probably allowing the mouse to get in-and-out. They didnt send anyone out to my house as of yet so I called today, and was told that I would be responsible for the mouse because its been past the 30 days that Ive been living in the house, even though I reported the issue within 30 days of living in the house. At this point Im so frustrated that Im considering getting an attorney and I will definitely be reporting this issue to the Better Business Bureau.... Save your money and do not go to this company, they have made my 1st house experience horrible. Im definitely thinking about returning to an apartment after having to deal with such an unprofessional company....
I have been with main street for almost 2 years. While I cant say much for their move out process seeing as though I still live in one of their homes, but will be moving out soon due to no fault of theirs. I can say I have never gone more than a week from my maintenance request to them coming to fix whatever the problem is. They have always been quick and polite when they come and fix things, and Im pretty needy. I appreciate it so much since Im moving soon and I want to get the house back to as good as I found it. I have no complaints and hope my move out process will be just as good. Would recommend.

They list their properties to accept housing vouchers yet I have not had one client with Housing get approved. You are not able to speak with the listing agent the phone number provided routes you back to this company!!

I’ve recently moved into a property managed by Main Street renewal and am not impressed. The home was infested with roaches and although they have sent an exterminator to treat we still see living ones in the kitchen, bathroom and occasionally the bedrooms and now it is our financial responsibility to treat them. How should I be responsible for treating your infested property?? Dishwasher has never worked and we’ve been submitting request to fix it since we moved in and the fact that it leaked water behind the dishwasher and was never properly addressed after having that happens leads me to believe mold is more than likely built up behind it. And that brings me to another issue sometime after living and showering all this lovely mold appeared on the shower which is just another Mickey Mouse clean up job they did on this property. I’ve emailed several complaints and have had no phone calls on emails that do not resolve our concerns also ive just noticed they are saying I have a late charge of 100 I have paid early every time since we moved in. So where is this coming from and guess there’s no one to call and ask because she can never get threw to anyone
Please dont move to any of their locations. Only to come in with the same issue and not done. And a whole year later still the same issues still not fix. only thing was actually fixed was lock on the doors and hot water heater. Still have a list of repairs from my check list and still not fixed. When you renewal your lease the charge you more than what was stated to you and on the lease. In November the front yard tree had died and was uprooted in the yard. Due to the safety of the kids playing out front I requested a new tree so this uprooted one would not harm the kids. It took a little bit of time and good weather but the wait was well worth it. The company MSRenewal had address my maintenance request did a fantastic job. Not only did they plant a new beautiful tree they beautified the beds as well. I could not be happier with the job they did.
This is not idle for people on Housing although they offer housing choice recipients it’s a NIGHTMARE!!! I got approved for a home October 17 th and now I’m about to lose my house because they claim I have had this opened for 71 days . Not mention I was waiting on my a dishwasher repair TWICE never informed of this . I know several others who has lost housing through msrenewal . They are not interested in assisting US !! The customer service is great. The timeliness with coming out to service maintenance orders are horrible. There is no direct department to speak with anyone and can not be transferred or speak with a supervisor or maintenance department about emergency maintenance orders. The customer service agents are great but maintenance needs help and to let everyone know there is no actual office in Houston I went to the location and it says it is currently closed. I have 4 children and apparently have hot water is not a emergency!
This company has a worse communication skills! Everything this 3/5 business days and good luck on getting your deposit back! It’s been over a month still no house or deposit! Soon as I was notified that the house didn’t pass MHA inspection they listed it the next day & is holding my deposit saying it takes 30 days for refund! Ppl are homeless because of this company please save yourself a application fee and deposit and Headache!! If i could give them no stars I definitely Would! That all are programmed to lie to ppl! This is so unprofessional. I am a Realtor. I showed one of their houses on a Saturday, he wanted it and to move in Sunday (he was staying with friends). He moved in March 1st this is April 29th and my company has NOT received the commission. Now, Im pretty patient. I sent the necessary paperwork to the agent. She didnt bother to tell me that I put the wrong commission on the paperwork. I called after 3 weeks to ask where it was. I had to call her to find out what I had done wrong. I redid it immediately. Still nothing. I emailed her. I called her the next day. Text her. Called her again. Still nothing. I am sure they are collecting their rents so accounting should be working out of the house. Lousy customer service. Lousy professionalism. Lousy communications.
Do not rent from these people. Weve been with them almost 3 years. Their customer service is horrible and if you ever need to call them, prepare to be on hold forever just to be told nobody actually there can help you and theyll call you back (they wont). Ive needed repairs twice and both times it took them at least 4 days to come and fix the problem and the only reason it was likely that fast is because I called to complain. Their rentals are overpriced, especially for the condition of the homes. Steer clear.UPDATE UPON MOVING OUT: THIS COMPANY IS COMPLETELY FRAUDULENT. DO NOT TO BUSINESS WITH THEM. They take cheap properties and rent them out high (look at all their properties; none are in good condition) just to take advantage of people who really need help getting a home rental. Then upon move out they charge you fraudulent charges for things they have to fix that they didnt. Do not do business with these thieves. LOOK AT THESE REVIEWS, I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THEYVE DONE THIS TO. Love their auto responses as well, which if you read them dont even always make sense. Application process says it takes 1 to 5 days. Ive submitted all paperwork and its been 3 weeks. Cant speak to anyone because they screen calls in the call center. All they do is tell you they are sending a email and somebody will get back to you in 48 hours. Its been 3 weeks. So unprofessional. This maybe a scam or very terribly ran business. Do not waste your time .
I need help this company is not returning my deposit. I did not move into a unit at no fault of mine but of theirs and HHA. So I was told I would get my deposit refunded back on December 27, 2022 its February 15th and NO ONE AT THIS COMPANY SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO GET MY MONEY BACK. All they want to do is schedule tours and sign leases if its not that then everyone acts deaf and dumb. At this point its theft and my next step is to get legal advice.
If I could rate this company a zero star I would. Worst company Ive every rented from. They dont come out and fix things and just paint over things to fix problems. They didnt make sure the gas line for the oven was connected correctly so gas was leaking in the house for the first month. The alarm went off and the FD was called so we had to have the windows open all night so we could let the gas air out. If we hadnt awoke in the middle of the night my mother, son and I would have died in our sleep. The company never reached out or apologized for putting our lives in danger. They didnt even have the correct outlets in the bathroom nor had the dishwasher set up correctly it still had the foam around it and it could never be used. Called about it and they never came out to fix it. I could go on and go about this horrible company, but Im sure it would be a 10 page paper. They dont ever want to give the number out so you can actually talk to someone about the issues they let you talk to a call center where they have no clue about what is going on and cant even help. Will NEVER rent with them again and anyone who asks about this company I will never recommend. You would think they would try and do better since they have 2 stars but they dont and dont care about there residents.
This place is the worst….please do not apply for a home with them…read the reviews they are not lying. This company need better management and customer service reps. all they do is read notes from a screen and send emails out. You never get a call back as promised and sometimes they never email you. If you on Section 8 you will lose your voucher waiting on them, Housing should remove them from they search for property list.
Please don’t waist your time or money to rent with this company. I just rented a home in Georgia. What a mess!!! They DO NOT inspect the home before you move in. We pay over $1700 in rent and the house had no heat, rotten floors and walls, the gas line is running back in the home and a huge 10ft window is broken and hanging through. I have to call everyday….. begging for the home to be fixed. Please try another company. I am physically handicapped and can’t even use my downstairs toilet because it runs in the rotted floor when you flush. And inspection and maintenance would have fixed the issue before it got that bad.
Renter Beware! Month 10 of a 1 year lease, the incompetence continues. Now, all work orders have disappeared for this property that were sent through the portal. Very convenient on their end. At this point even calling and being on hold for over an hour produces nothing but getting disconnected. Leaving your number for a call back, dont hold your breath, it doesnt happen. This month issue, toilet leaking into master closet. They fixed the leak, removed the carpet and pad to back porch and left. The closet is now tack strip and concrete. We had to air it out several weeks. No repairs. Every month it is a new item. The repair list continues to grow. The bright side we documented everything, and I mean everything including names.

They got our information ran our information through a place called rent Cafe and denied us and did not give us any valid reason at all!When I followed up with a phone call someone answered from a call center sounded like a call center in India had no information and could not tell me anything at all. Now I wonder why all their houses are for lease and they having to keep dropping the rent unfortunately!

I just moved into a property and have been having issues since before signing our lease. Was told I’ll be getting a special and now I’m not!?! I moved in this. Ice house at 1995.00 a month. We moved in August the 6th. Take in mind we placed work orders during the walk through. Its not Oct 2nd, only 2 out of 13 work orders have been completed.Our house flooded so bad the vendor came out ans fixed it. 2 days later ita back. I hVe called over 60 times, emailed everyone even asked for a credit. I wish I could be let out this leaS. We cant even enjoy the house, I thought water damage was urgent but please. Choose another company this company does not care. No one ever calls back. My work orders been escalated live ated 6 times and still my issues are not fixed we been in a hotel due to all this mainstream paid for 2 weeks but thats all. Im updating but most 9f all hurt. His my first house and Im so miserable embarrassed all out furniture back in storage. Main Street continually sends out vendors who either dont know what they are doing or do a terrible job.We have experienced problem after problem with this company.They have poor customer service, substandard vendors who provide poor quality work, long telephone hold times, poor communication with tenants as well as their co-workers, and broken promises. Main Street employees/representatives dont keep their word and are always passing the buck. I have heard many times that my phone call will be returned within 24 hours, only to wait 2-7 days before I have to call them back.Take my word, this is not a company you want to rent from. They are terrible. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.Current tenants, your best bet is to communicate with this company through email so that you have proof/paper trail.
Beware! Do not rent from this property company unless its your only choice. I have experienced many issues in my home since Ive lived there. My garage door wont work half the time and its been going on for almost a year. I have to take off work each time they have someone to come for repairs and they only place bandaids over the problem instead of actually fixing it. The faucet in the kitchen was not working at all and it took 3 times of me taking off of work each time they sent a plumber. It wasnt until the 3rd visit that it was actually repaired. I am without hot water for a week and it still is not repaired. They sent someone over and they said it needed to be replaced. I took off, day 2, they sent a different guy and he did no repair, but only told me the same thing; that it needs to be replaced. Still no one has contacted me in a whole week now about replacing the water heater so it looks like I will be going another weekend and more without hot water. I have been locked out of my house because they have not repaired the garage door and they were not willing to pay for a locksmith. This property management company has been a pain to work with and on top of that each time you call there is a long wait period before your call is answered. I would be fired from my job if I didnt have an understanding boss because of all the days I have had to leave early or take off from work because of repairs needed. I have taken off on 2 occasions and the repairmen dont come until 9 at night when initially they were supposed to come at 2. They sent a repair guy, that I requested never return to my address again, that went into my bedroom for no reason and made comments about pictures he should not have even had view of. He should have only been working in the kitchen area on the faucet. I have also been with air conditioning for 2 days before it was correctly repaired. They use the cheapest contractors they can find to do mediocre work to only have you experience the same issues over and over. I have been renting for years and have never experienced this type of service from any landlord. Speaking with the manager Jonathan does no good either because he seems to be so unbothered about anything you discuss with him. He told me that even though I have been without a working garage AND without hot water for a week that someone should be calling me in the next 4 hours. 4 hours! These repairs should have been made a long time ago and the garage should have been repaired correctly the first time months ago. Based on experience, I wont get that call today from them or anyone else. Im currently trying to find a higher source of authority regarding these matters. Stay away from Main Street!
This management company is the absolute worse ever and believe in charging people fees because their employees are incompetent and refuse to properly do their jobs. I moved into their property in January 2018 -that’s a different story and if you could see the pictures from that! Maybe I should have known from that experience and vacated the agreement. Well upon move in I got my own renters insurance. In March I received a notice that I needed to add them as an interested party and increase my liability coverage. I did this the same day. Sent them the updates policy to the provided email. Then in December I received a fee of $25 for non compliance. I called them and emailed them and nothing. My busy life I think they handled their error but come January Ithe same fee. I asked the them again via email because you can’t speak to a person and both response. Finally after constant emails and calls I get a gentleman telling me that he is looking into the issue and will respond in a day or so. I am still waiting and they send notice the other day that the property is being sold. Called cunostomer service and and they refused to get me a manager on the line. But I get an email that the charges are non refundable. I don’t want a refund - I want them removed from my account all together. I even ask if what you all say to be true then why aren’t you charging me for 8 months of non compliance. They have no answer. If you are thinking about using this company then don’t! It took them three times to finally fix a toilet issue. Let’s not talk about the bursted pipe that they tried to subpar repair. Before I pay them for something I don’t owe them- I’ll sue them. Oh I have read receipts on every email I’ve ever sent them. Just hold your employees accountable for doing their jobs and treated people fairly.
I highly recommend you NEVER rent from this company. We recently moved out of our rent house because we finally bought a new home. When we were getting ready to move out my husband emailed someone to make sure of our move out date they told us 4/17. We move out and about 3 weeks later we get a email saying we owe an extra months of rent and won’t get our deposit back because we broke the lease and there were minor things they had to fix. They claimed we moved out too early but actually we moved out the date that they emailed. On top of that right after we move out one of their maintenance men broke the garage door and they proceeded to blame it on us and wanted to charge us for it. My husband is still currently trying to email someone about our deposit but for some reason they all act like they know nothing! Horrible!

Absolute nightmare dealing with this leasing company. They tack on fees to your account without notifying you, or even describing what it is for. For instance, they attempted to charge me for an HOA violation that had occurred months before I had moved into the property. They keep adding fees in the middle of the month without contacting me, with the description being resident responsible utilities, even while utilities are all under my name, and none are provided with the property. There were leaks from the outside when a harsh rainfall occurred, so I attempted to get a work order to schedule. Without consulting me, they scheduled someone to come out on a day I was not available, when I attempted to reschedule, I never got a confirmation from the email they say to send it to. And they dont even communicate with their workers either. I have yet to see a face from management, and that included the move in process. And forget trying to get a hold of anyone on the phone. This company must be a skeleton crew with a call center based out of a different country, because it seems like 5 people work for them total. Disgusted with them, do not recommend to anyone and will certainly not be using them again in the future.Update: theyre even worse now. Impossible to get anything done. Phone tag to get an AC repaired in triple digit weather. No rush on anything. Trying to charge me for HOA violations when the HOA isnt even issuing fines for it.Just dont use them. Listen to the rest of us.
I had high hopes for this company when I initially got involved with them. My agent was great and he really worked with me to get me a home I love. However, trying to get in touch with him ever again or anyone in their office is so difficult. Theres a portal to pay rent which of course always has issues and can only be accessed from certain devices. Maintenance issues are not resolved in a timely manner at all and everyone within the organization seems to have a different answer for the same question. The people themselves are very nice and wonderful, I think its the companys organization skills that responsible for these issues. I will say they have beautiful homes and the process for getting into your new sanctuary is painless and easy. I would recommend them as Im hoping the issues I faced are not faced by everyone.
Hey there. Let me start with saying that I can count on one hand how many times Ive actually taken the time to write a review. However, I find myself so deeply troubled by the service of this company I must do this review. As of today my sink, toilet, and pipe in the ceiling have been leaking constantly for over a week. I finally had someone show up yesterday to fix these issues only to have him say he doesnt have the tools or equipment to handle the job. He proceeds to tell me that if I dont call every day, multiple times that he wont be back due to MainStreets unavailability. He is a third party and needs approval to come back, and they hardly ever respond to his companies invoices. So as of now our family of five cant use our kitchen sink, master toilet, and our bedroom ceiling is leaking and growing black mold. When we moved in we couldnt use our stove for over a month because the outlet was shorting out. The list goes on and on, I will spare you the time. Stay away unless you absolutely must be with this company.
Why can we not give a 0 for stars. Here is a true review to consider. The first issue I had was there was black toxic mold in the house I was renting. The company then waited for 1 month to handle anything with this problem. They then picked the cheap option for repairs. Well the repairs were completed, I asked for test results, they refused to produce them, then I had my own mold test completed which showed mold. Finally they moved me into a new home. They then bumped my rent up by $300.00 without giving reason why. They then refused to reimburse for the damage to my bed, the moving cost, or the medical bills even though the cause of the problem was the home. They then ignored my request to cancel my lease and are now billing me for a month and arguing with me about ending my lease. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL LIVE TO REGRET IT.
This leasing agency is quick to take your money, they act like they dont have supervisors for you to speak with, the rep Zamina said she didnt know her supervisors name, what a joke. I trusted this agency because HHA recommended them but I feel like theyre a scam for deposits.

I moved from another city 2 months ago and even after reading the horrible reviews I still decided to give them a chance, which has been a big mistake.They have been avoiding the fact that I have reported an electrical issue so bad that I’ve had to call the 911. I’ve been told lies about them not receiving a bid for almost a week. Everyday someone claims they will call me back and I never get a call back they refuse to put a supervisor on the phone. I wish I would have taken the warnings.
Not military friendly. Had 3-4 different people contact me about my application and couldnt grasp the concept of BAH. They ended up approving us for less than what we are alloted and then told us the house we wanted was gone two days before we needed to move in. Had a realtor try to help and explain how the Army works, but was ignored.
Literally rent from anyone else. You will be much better off. These are the kind if wait times you can expect.
I do not normally write reviews but i feel like i have had enough and need to write this review. We have been renting with this company for almost 3 years now. When we first moved in the dishwasher flooded our kitchen and the kitchen sink would not drain either. It took 3 weeks to get the issue resolved, not to mention 3 different companies came out on 3 different days that i had to take time off work to be there for. A few months later we began having issues with the AC unit [in the middle of Texas summer]. They came out and temp. fixed it. That next summer the AC would not work at all. It took us weeks just to get ahold of someone to let them know that we did not have AC and they came out and replaced the unit. It was still not cooling the house down so we attempted to contact them again and did not have a call returned until over a week later. They sent someone back out only to realize the AC they put in was the wrong size and had to have someone come out another day to put a different unit in! Our kitchen light has not worked in 4 months!!!! We told them and they had someone come out within the week and they shook it and it came on and said nothing was wrong with it. The next day it stopped working. We shook it and tapped it but it does not work. We still have yet to have someone come out and fix this. Our lease is up next month so we have gotten a letter in the mail on how to contact them whether its via phone or email. so i figured i would email them since no one ever answers the phone! i have sent 4 emails plus i have also written them an email on the portal where we pay the rent to them. I have gotten NO RESPONSE!!! So now that i am furious i am attempting to call them. I have now been on hold for 42 minutes!!!!!!! that is almost an hour ! They close at 6pm and it is now 5pm. This company is a joke!!!!!!DO NOT RENT FROM MS RENEWAL! This is your fair warning. As you can see from the other reviews....everyone has the same issues with them. They do a great job to make the house LOOK good to the renters but once you move in you realize they leave all the poor old outdated and messed up plumbing and HVAC systems.I have never dealt with such poor customer service in my life. They do not call you back.I feel sorry for whoever answers the phone [if they ever answer] because i have now been on hold for 45 minutes! I am calling them to sign another years lease....to give them my money!!!

This company does not care at all. I expressed to these people my interest in a home for lease and tried to view the home 3 different times only to make blank trips. All 3 times I was on hold about 20 mins to talk to someone and all they said was i apologize. No custome service at all and I would not recommend them EVER
I am actually Mrs. Osborne, I was a tenant with Main Street Renewal for 3 years. They provided exceptional service. Whenever I called and needed assistance, they sent help right away. I always used the portal to submit my request and it worked perfectly. My husband and I have now purchased a home, I called Main Street today and a young lady named Bernice assisted me, and she was exceptional. She provided A1 customer service, she assisted me with persistence. Many times she could have forwarded my call to someone else. I want to thank you Bernice and Main Street Renewal for an awesome experience all the way around.
I never write reviews and always have be one to give people the benefit of the doubt. My home has multiple issues that have not been resolved for years now. My family and I have had to suffer from multiple issues in this home. Bathrooms, Kitchen sink, and other ongoing issues like when a water pipe busted after renting the home for a month and water went into my garage and living room. Some one came out to fix it and took out all the sheet rock in the garage but never replaced it not only that the garage has BLACK MOLD.......AC vents have moisture from the house not being properly weather sealed and has mildew. To be honest I will have to get the proper people are involved like the state because this is wrong.
I can write a book. Well first when I moved in my house in the Houston area it wasn’t clean. The grass was waist high. I’ve called several times and put in a maintenance request I picked a date and the maintenance guy comes when ever he wants to. Before Hurricane Harvey hit my AC furnace went out I called them to fix it they didn’t. They didn’t even Accommodate us until they could come out. Their call center reps are so rude and they have drop calls. I wouldn’t give them a star at all. This is thus far the WORST company that I’ve ever rented from. No one haven’t tried to reach out to me since all of this went on. 👎👎👎
Wife and I put in application for home that was up for rental, after finally getting thru the long process and paying for it, they call back and say, your approved but the house you applied for is taken. Which isn’t right cause if someone has an app in it, it should be paused from the listings. So they said we can choose a different house that’s listed, which we need a five bedroom, and all those are taken. So they lied about having a house available at all just to get the application fee and now we either have to wait within the 30 days for a five bedroom to magically open up. Or we’re out 150$. Which from the looks of it, we are gonna be out the money and no home. With that being said, do not waste your time. Find another leasing company. They are frauds and cheaters.
NEVER LIVE HERE ive had problems with every maintainence requests being completed in a timely manner. Its been a year and my request for the pin or to have the alarm system reprogrammed to be able to use the system was never fulfilled so every time we open a door or window for the first time a loud painful alarm blares through the house. Last night our thermostat stopped working and we live in Texas its May weve been sweating all day even in our sleep i put in a request to get that fixed this morning and i was told they would come by 1:45 the latest. It is now 5:42 pm and no one ever came they are now saying the soonest they can come is tomorrow. I stressed that it is hot and this should be an important request and i was told that it isnt considered important unless its 90 degrees outside (which it was 93 when i called) and it is now 89 degrees at 6 P.M! The supervisor also is supporting this statement. The entire company is unprofessional dont believe their responses to these comments dont live here!!!

Im currently renting a house from this agency. I was impressed at how they helped with the transition from an apartment to a house. The company kept in contact with me through each step of the process, they worked with me when a couple things on my end went wrong but were quickly resolved.
Just approved for my first house in Texas. Main Street was extremely helpful and patient with me during this process. I just lost my husband and they worked with me in getting the final approval in a timely manner. Thank you Main Street for all of your work in making this happen.
Dishonest company. Dont expect your deposit back. I moved because of a damaged home. The home sets on a concrete slab which popped in half. The floor split down the middle. I was forced to live there for months with broken promises of repairing the damage. They waited til the end of my lease and still didnt repair the damage. The also kept my 1300 deposit even tho they knew the house was not livable and was ruled that i wasnt at fault. I was very devastated by this as I wasnt prepared to pay another deposit. They offered to move me to another house but e I decided to move somewhere else and end doing business with them, they kept my deposits. Made up lies as if they didnt know I moved out. I was informed to leave the key in drop box which I did, but they claimed I didnt return the Key. BEWARE. This comoany is not fair and will steal your deposits. The house is still empty 24014 Spring Brair Ln, 77373. I moved out August 2018 and it 2020 and still not repaired and no one is living in it..
So far this has been the worst experience for me and my clients. Im a real estate agent and my client submitted their application for a home that they have listed on MLS last week. We cant get anyone to call us back to find out of where our clients stand in the approval process. weve emailed, texted, called and left messages and no... I mean NO ONE will call us back. Our client has invested $162 in apps fees and need to know something now because their current lease expires on Monday. Ive been an agent since 2005 and have never experienced something like this before. Im hoping someone in your Houston office reads this and can help us. this is my last ditch effort before I have to report the listing agent to the Texas REal Estate Commission and this company to the Better Business Bureau. My clients have good credit, rental history and meet all of the requirements.

I am a current resident with MSR. This company does not care about the residents. Issues are never resolved. Ex: My home has had 3 active water leaks however MSR is holding me responsible to pay a $1200 water bill. This all started 10/2017 and it is now 7/2018. No results. I sent all information requested to a supervisor and still no results. They just tell you something to get you off of the phone. Floor supervisors give you empty promises. Phone calls not returned. Emails left unanswered. The resident care team has rejected all my emails stating they will not give me a credit. I have been here for 4 years. Maybe leaving a bad review I may get a response back. Then again maybe not. The agents that answers the phone are programmed by a script. This company is very unprofessional and arrogant! Just waiting for my lease to end however I am not leaving without the money that MSR owes me for The City of Houston water bills! I am DONE with this company!
If i could leave a -100000 star i would. Im currently renting a home from MSR and I have had the worst experience one could possibly have enteringa rented home. Where do I start. When we moved in there was obviously an issue with the AC. We submitted a request which the mantainence guy came and told us yeah we told them there was an issue with the AC before you guys moved in, they need to replace it and they know that, just keep sending requests so we can document it until they decide to replace it Well 6 requests later and 1 month of 80 plus degrees in our house, nothing is fixed. Our electricity bill was over $500 because the AC never even comes close to getting to our set temperature of 75. It has reached over 95 degrees today inside my house! I have a 6 month old child and we have been staying at a hotel for over 5 days now because the home is not habitable. Our dishwasher has never worked. We have sent 3 requests to fix it and still nothing. We have two leaks in our room that are now growing mold, have sent multiple requests to fix, still nothing. Our backyard has a sewage leak and is like a mudslide, again multiple requests still nothing fixed. Received an email stating they cant terminate the lease, but could give a concession after everything is resolved. I guess we didnt realize they would never resolve anything. We are literally going insane having to pay for this property we cant even live in! I have rented a lot of houses but this is becoming comical how poorly ran this company is. Really sad honestly because we are human beings and cant even live in a house that we pay for. Please stay far far far far far away. I cant stress this enough. They will just keep sending companys out that either dont know how to repair your problems, or dont have the green light to actually repair it.Updated review 9-3Here we are again. 3 days now with no AC. Have been staying in a hotel for 3 days. Claim they will reimburse hotel but we have to pay rent now too and just wasted all this money on a hotel. AC repair guy came out, couldnt repair it. Needs a Green Light to replace a part. Waiting on the company to ok the replacement. Guys, it is over 100 degrees. We cant stay at the house, we have to waste money on hotels and food since we cant be at home and cook our own food. My husband and I recently leased a home from Mainstreet and we couldnt be happier! We found a nice house in our budget and now get to enjoy our awesome backyard again!! Were from Texas, so happy to be leasing with a company from our home state, but we get to live in Beautiful Alabama!! The response time and customer service has been on point thru and thru. Im a property manager and my hubby is a maintenance man, so we know how its supposed to work and Mainstreet got it RIGHT!!
I have been a resident of Main Street Renewal for a few months now. So far everything has been great. Everyone I have spoken to have had really nice attitudes. Upon moving in a had a water issue and it was fixed that day. Other than that the move in went smooth. I love my new home.
Absolutely hands down the worst experience I have ever had with renting an apartment or a home. We currently have 4 active maintenance request submitted some of which are over a month old. No effort whatsoever has been made to take care of anything. I had to threaten main street renewal with a lawsuit after Harvey because they refused to take care of the mold in the home due to roof damage and water. Now the hot water heater is not functional and I have been calling for days with no response at all. This company meant doesn’t give a care in the world about their tenants. It’s ansolutely appalling. Worst customer service I have ever seen. If I could give zero stars I would.Ps. I am currently on hold while typing this still trying to get ahold of someone to get the hot water heater fixed. Just so you know main street renewal I have absolutely no intention of paying rent until all these maintenance request are handled.
They take their sweet time to fix things, houses are dirty and have roaches, you get nothing resolved. I honestly made the biggest mistake moving into one of their homes I wish I could just move elsewhere. I really regret moving wish my lease was up!!!! Its a nightmare living here.
This review is for the maintenance guy who comes to my rescue alot lol im a tenant that likes to keep things in good standing and running properly so when I call every season to have the ac/heat checked or because my bathroom faucets always have an issue I always get Kevin. STAY AWAY. STAY FAR AWAY.I have had two separate leaks in my house and both took over two weeks to repair and they did nothing. Actually still currently have one going on right now. I have water pouring in my house for two full weeks. The ceiling collapsed. This is a pathetic excuse for a property management company. Do not rent from.If anyone has any good lawyers let me know. I need to get out of this actual hell hole.
Awesome and friendly but after moving out of the house they took over 1300$ worth of my deposit. There were never any issues until moving out. When asked to see the pictures from the damages they had none. They lied about the damages. Just know they don’t want to give you a deposit back if you rent from them.
I have not even moved in yet and I’m fed up. Inspection failed and me and my family were suppose to move in a couple of days. Dora in the Houston office have been helpful but the response to get something fixed is very slow and when I gave my deposit I never thought I would have this many problems. I’m very skeptical about continuing with this process because I have kids and I don’t wanna keep calling someone if something goes wrong in the house and nobody never shows up. I really just want my deposit back I was sooooo in love with this house but once the water was cut on for the inspection it now has tooooo much work to be done and everytime you Call they say they will call you back but they never call back you have to practically call all day to get a response. I’m fed up already I can just imagine when moving in
Horrible management company! House was stated move in ready but when we moved in the AC wasnt working. Dishwasher was cooked up nor attached to the counter top properly, water heater wasnt working and along with many other issues with the house. Trying to get a hold of someone or trying to have someone call you back was like pulling teeth. No one would call you back in a timely manner but once you called several times they might have called you back. Opon moving out I called a handful of times to get a walk through scheduled and no one would call me back. The front office would just point fingers at other people instead of dealing with the customer themselves.
This company needs to be investigated by the state of Texas!! After making a 50 minute drive to their Houston office that Google said was open from 8:00 - 5:30, we find out that their offices are permanently closed. Their phone goes to voicemail which never gets answered. You try to email them and never get a response back. You try to text them and they never reply. Then they stick all kinds of random charges on your account with no way to talk to anyone.
I would give them ZERO stars if I could. THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Reps are all working remotely and they are difficult to understand. They are not completely honest. It is impossible to get a manager or anyone who knows ANYTHING over the phone.Do not waste your time or money!!! LOOK ELSEWHERE! VERY bad company!!! THE WORST!!! They also left our neighborhood street looking very tacky and shabby with code violations. Now they have a case with Code Enforcement!
Absolute worse experience Ive ever had with renting a home or an apartment. Moving in, I had wiring missing in the house and no electricity for quite some time throughout the house including no electricity to the kitchen appliances for longer. I had multiple water leaks throughout my 12 month lease, making more than one room(Including my bedroom) unlivable. Our Heat/AC was out for awhile. I was unable to use my main shower for months. I was denied access to my dryer outlet because they said it was not their responsibility to provide enough power to power my electric power although the port clearly states that it supports my dryer on the house. I was forced to hang dry all 12 months of my stay. My list continues and I have documentation proof, but what tops it all off is that Main Street Renewal would not even provide me with any form of rent reduction whatsoever. I had to pay FULL RENT for a house that was not livable for part of my stay and never allowed me full access to appliance like advertised. I would NOT recommend Main Street under any circumstance. Also Vendor work on your home will be complete minimum because the company wants to spend as little money as possible. Fixes will be temporary, not permanent. I actually had a vendor admit this too me and apologize he could not do more to help. This is a horrible excuse for a business.
We rented a house from these people in the Houston area and during this past hurricane the house flooded really bad. Well we had to evacuate and we spent the following two weeks living in a hotel room. They absolutely did nothing to try to help us out. When I contacted them they pretty much said we were on our own and that we were stuck in the lease, still required to pay rent for a house that was going to be unlivable for God knows how long. Well to make a long story short we lawyered up and only then they agreed to let us out the lease. Be careful renting from these people and make sure you double check the area cause they will not tell you if its a flood zone, its up to you to do the research. Also they will offer you their renters insurance for an extra 19 a month, do yourself a favor and get your own cause they will play stupid and try to run circles around with you.
Here is my honest review and opinion from our experiences! Mainstreet Renewal has been avoiding fixing this property since we first moved in, but would still want you to live in a broken home with no complaints! Trying to have patience and be understanding with Mainstreet is not an option! It seems like all they care about is the money, but the residents is less important than their homes. The residential portal is supposed to be for entering issues and for other reasons, Including the other rentals and our transferring, but Mainstreet is very unreliable and not trustworthy because they have canceled many of my requests and also deleted multiple things from the portal, calls not being properly answered when it finally does go through, the agents that assist you will speak with you, take all of your information and only put the minimum, like its nothing and have never really fixed anything at their properties, but is good at trying to do cover up fixes, which lead to multiple issues with our health (Since living here, I have told Mainstreet that with all of the problems thats going on, its causing us headaches, skin issues and irritations, breathing problems, and fatigue. Mainstreet makes promises but have broken every one. Our HVAC has been out and Mainstreet never attempted to fix it (Winter, we used the fireplace)(We had to purchase AC window units just to stay cool throughout the spring and definitely the hot x summer). We have water damage thats internal and external of the home which caused mold to be visible in attic and others areas of the house (which they never removed, but covered with extra insulation, which made it worse), water damage to walls to almost every rooms, especially the bathrooms and halls (bathroom ceiling has a water damage from ceiling and on walls that cause it to rain in the bathroom and the mold that caused my family allergies. I have to continually clean with bleach solutions)! The kitchen (wall with electrical socket, kitchen sink and cabinets never installed properly which caused more heat to enter home (you can see through the home from the outside with the damaged insulation visible and the wall is cracking and rotting). Walking on the floors whether it is hot, while it rains or after it rain, it causes the floors to feel and look sweaty and cause the sewer smell throughout the home and closets (which we have to continually make it our routine to leave the house or go outside to make sure we are not entirely messed up by the home. We must use air fresheners, deodorizers, and windows cracked open to breathe properly and try to keep it air out. As of today, Mainstreet Renewal still havent fixed anything properly and all of their vendors are like low grade that they choose anyone thats not licensed to do their covered up work. Trusting Mainstreet Renewal turned out to be a bad idea. Not to mention that they will tell you one thing and completely do nothing what was told to you.
1st, the property manager never did a walk through.Our jetted tub was shooting black mildew and other gritty material out of the jets since day 1. They sent vendor after vendor and they they all said that a pro pool/jacuzzi cleaning service could fix the problem. MS Renewal told us they would rather rip it out and replace it with a regular tub. We agreed although we solely rented this property due to my neck and back injuries (disabled veteran). Sept.2016 will be 2 years and we havent used that tub once. Almost all kitchen cabinets had to be ripped out due to mold. Weve been several day on various occassion without a/c. We have to turn a/couple off when my wifedoes laundry or the breaker will flip. Customer service is the worst and the managers are rude. Dont do it!
I am a REALTOR and work diligently to find my clients the perfect home. One month later, I am still waiting to get paid by this company and another agent in my office has never been paid. I will continue to call and if this issue is resolved, I will change my rating. For the time being, I will keep this as a 1 star and will consider changing it if I ever get paid.
11/2/21 Still waiting for my deposit RENTERS BE AWARE!!! After almost 3 months I still haven’t been able to resolve my deposit issue. I can’t get a call at back to discuss why MSRENEWAL kept my deposit. So I was able to find out the owners of all of the properties. Which I’ve decided to write to them and let them know in great detail all the issues I had. If you want this information please let me know.
Honestly I never give five stars. And when I lived in the house I cant say they dissevered it. But when Harvey hit and took everything. They took care of me. They donated money to me. Gave me back my deposit no questions asked. Walked me though the rent termination. So thank you MSR for my experience. Even if it was only to save face they did it right.
What can I say about Main Street Renewal, I had some friends that sold their house to them and every time they turned around the contract changed and they never got to see a true final contract before closing they wasn’t even there in person when they did the signing of it without being in front of a notary And then they never got their hard copy of contract then when they did things weren’t the same as what was told to them before the signing. what else I think the agreement that was made by mouth is not the same agreement that was on paper on the move out cause the house was bought as is and then they wanted them to do this and that kind of repairs to the house when they move out but when you buy a house as it is it’s called as is that means you don’t have to do anything to the house as far as repairs when it’s a as is buy. Especially when they came in and looked at the home and bought it as is So I told my friend you don’t have to do anything cause they bought it as is and it even says that in the contract that they bought it as is. I don’t think they’re very good business people to deal with when you’re trying to sell a home they will tell you one thing but do something else in the end, to me that’s not very good business practices I’m so sorry
I hate that I ever signed a lease with this sorry company. Sign a lease with Main Street Renewal and you will be given lies, broken promises, poor customer service, and substandard repairs from their ever revolving door of contractors. Their famous line, I will get back to you within 24 hours, the phone call is never returned. If I could get out of this lease I would run from this company. Not even worthy of the one star rating.Save yourself the stress and headache and rent elsewhere.
When it comes to maintenance, living in a rent house compared to an apartment can be very different because of individual home owners. Ive been with Mainstreet for three years and any problem Ive had they sent someone in good timing to fix the problem. And there maintenance team always did a great job.

The website used to be user friendly but now you have to go through hoops and bells and they send you another connecting website just to get on there to pay your bills its very frustrating and besides that main Street renewal sucks!!! The management company my pipes broke in my house and we had to pay $1,400 for a water bill that they are responsible for and they reimbursed us $168 after 8 months that is truly the definition of a slumlord we will be moving very soon management company does go fix things around the house and come out but that case of that $1,400 we spent trying to pay the water bill that was a burst pipe under their house which we do not own they gave us $160 that is totally ridiculous and unfair we reported them to the housing authority!!!
Horrible experience with this property management company. One issue after the next with the home that we rented.Main Street Renewal left us hanging for a week without service to a broken AC unit during days with 100 degree weather.They allowed a constant leak to occur in our closet for two weeks despite desperate calls and a high priority work order submission.When we moved in there were dead roaches all over the floor and muddy footprints where MS Renewals hired inspector had walked through the house.First rain we had several buckets around the living room where water was leaking in.And the list goes on and on...Overall as a company I would say that MS Renewal is utterly incompetent and extremely unreliable with no concern what-so-ever for tenants issues and well-being.I would beware - they put a lot of effort into making home finishes look nice and attractive to potential renters. Meanwhile, they leave the plumbing, HVAC and utilities to rot away so that you can dig up these issues later when your belongings are destroyed by a flood, or you are getting sick from breathing in mold spores.
I have an issue with the electrical wiring in the kitchen, I place the order Monday morning, I checked on the status today Tuesday and was informed that this work order would be completed in 3-5 ,,days. I have an issue with that in that this an electrical issue that is very serious and the fact that the upcoming holidays without lights in the kitchen is unacceptable not to mention the fact that this could be a serious issues which needs to be address NOW.
Im very happy with Main Street Renewal and i plan to continue to be a tenant. Been with them for 6 years now. When their is a problem that needs to be fixed they make sure it gets taken care of.
Do not rent from this company. They are the absolute worst company I have rented from and if you rent from them you will regret it. I called to report my ac being out and they act like it isnt important to fix the ac in Texas. Do they know how hot it gets here? I felt, Antonio, the customer service agent I spoke to could care less. I asked to speak to a manager and he out right refused to put me in contact with one.
My experience with Will is always wonderful. When he come to my home to do repairs the visit is always quick and very professional. Will not only provides great customer service but he also educate me on what the problem was and how to fix the problem if the problem occurs again. Absolutely love the great customer service I receive!!!!! Will thank you for your professionalism.
I contacted the main office and tried to speak with Will.I was completely ignored and discriminated against!They have kept my security deposit and are holding me accountable for plumbing issues!This has been the worst experience and worst company I have ever dealt with!They will scam you out of security deposit!STAY AWAY from this company!!!!They have thousands upon thousands of complaints filed against them!!!

If youre thinking about leasing your next home through this Property Management Company you may have second thoughts after reading ONE of the MANY terrible experiences i had to experience as a tenant through MSR.The vendor/worker that was hired to fix my roof did not complete the job. On Friday October 13, 2017, while i was at work my son (age 16) was approached by one of the workers going into the house after school. He was asked if he wanted to make some money helping with a job. Of course he said yes as any kid would. Shortly after, my other son (age 13) was approached as well as a few other kids in the neighborhood. The worker asked if they wanted to make some extra money, with the impression and promise that they would get paid on that following Thursday once Main Street Renewal paid them for the job. (Did Not Happen). Fast forward those kids worked their Friday Saturday and Sunday all day Saturday and Sunday with blisters on their hands. Then to not get paid not $1 is just not right. When I told them hiring kids slaving them to do their job has got to be illegal, his response was, it will just be a civil lawsuit so take me to court. Then he said i would end up paying more taking him to court anyway. The vendor was paid for a job they did not complete. I was never notified anyone was being sent to repair anything, because the work order request for my roof was sent way in July. So they were sent 3 months later? I have reached out to everybody at MAIN STREET RENEWAL but the Ceo/Owner himself, with no response nor acknowledgement for this issue. I am now going to seek legal advice to see what the next step should be.
I am on my second year with a Mainstreet property. I absolutely love them. I have never once had an issue and they provide fast and friendly service. I hope to stay another few years! Great job Mainstreet! 👏
Do not rent from Mainstreet, you will regret it. Its a big company that does not care if the home they rent is in horrible condition. Electrical breaks code and they dont care. Leak outside, they dont care. All they want to do is rig stuff up enough to make the issue stop for now but not actually fix anything. They tried repairing urine soaked and chewed up carpet from the previous tennent. It took two months for them to finally replace but now I need to work on getting them to fix the leak outside and half of the outlets and all closets electrical dont work. Dont rent from Mainstreet unless the house is in perfect condition or unless you like to deal with major house problems for the entirety of your lease. I just moved in and I already cant wait to move out and stop giving Mainstreet my money. If Mainstreet owns a house your trying to rent, run away and dont look back!!!
New Updated Review(11/8/17): BIG NO to MSR. JUST RUN AWAY!In apprx Jan 2016 (at first I wasnt keeping track bc I had never needed to) the skylight above the tub in the masterbath started leaking. I reported the issue, they sent someone out, he applied some sorta epoxy to it and it stopped leaking. Until a month or 2 later when it started again. Repeat this process a few times, over the course of the year. Now this is kinda frustrating bc having to take time off to sit around and wait, plus a lot of no shows of course.Well fast forward to the 12 months or so, its a continuous leak. Every subcontractor has recommended replacing it, but MSR will not approve the work, telling the subcontractor to just patch it. Patching it unfortunately is not working anymore. So every time it rains I have to call and ask for some one to come out to fix it. Theyll send a different guy, this guy takes pics, sends the bid to MSR, it gets denied, and we start all over again. Nothing is being resolved.Weve had over 10 different people come into out home. That in and of itself is very nerve wracking, not to mention just trying to work around them and the no shows. It seems every appointment is a no show FIRST, then on the 2nd attempt they show, but the skylight still remains, leaking into the walls. You can see the water damage on the ceiling and walls.About 3-4 weeks ago I called again, after having an extremely unprofessional subcontractor come to my home, and beg for MSR to please please please resolve this issue. I cant take it anymore. I literally feel like I am going insane. The lady on the phone was understanding, said she would forward the issue up the chain and Id hear back from her. She never called me back BUT on 10/27/17 at 4:27pm I got a phone call from someone at IFM Restoration stating the work order has been approved to REPLACE THE SKYLIGHT. Are you kidding me? So excited. We schedule for 11/2 8-11. No one showed up. I call MSR, they dont have an open work order. She puts me on hold, gets back on the phone says someone will call me. At 1:43 I get a phone call from another subcontractor who says the work order was just put in front of him, he needs to reschedule, he doesnt know why the guy didnt show but this was his only work order for the day and they cant get a hold of him.He promises me he is going to schedule me with his best guy and they skylight WILL BE REPLACED on the next appt. We schedule for 11/8 9-12. So his BEST guy just shows up at my house, at 9 so punctual thats nice, TAKES PICTURES AND TELLS ME HE HAS TO ORDER THE PARTS.And duct tapes my skylight. Now I am not trying to judge this person but he appeared to be...not sober. IDK I almost dont wanna mention that bc I dont have proof, but I am not comfortable with his demeanor to put it politely. He also told me he just started and didnt even know who he worked for when I asked if he was from IFM Restoration.I call MSR to make a complaint against IFM being their contracting maintenance company. The gentleman at MSR told me the complaint would need to go to IFM. My complaint is MSR using IFM. Obviously IFM is part of the problem. Not just who they send out. Its MSR problem bc this is their property that is experiencing a water leak, with potential water damage and IFM is not getting the work done. MSR just closes the work orders and pays IFM without verifying the issue is fixed??And just to be clear I know a lot of negative reviews (in general) are from people who are in the wrong and dont like the treatment they received. But we have paid our rent on time every month. We have never paid late. We take pride in our home and care for it like it is our own. But after 5 years w/ MSR this will be our last. The way our maintenance issues have been handled over the last 2 years has been the end of our positive feelings for MSR. We will be moving at the end of our lease, and we would NEVER recommend MSR. Stay far far away.

First off let me say, Main Street Renewel is the definition of slum lord!!! Dont rent from them !!! I repeat...Dont rent from them!!! They dont value your business!!! They dont care about any horrible conditions that may occur at there properties...the customer service sucks a**..with a straw....they dont return your call...and thats after u spent a half(if not whole day) trying to get in touch with anyone at there offices or call centers....they dont respond to mantince issues in a timely manner..if at all!!! And they make promises they dont keep!!! I will not be signing another lease with them! Ive complained and complained about issues that directly affect my 9 year old and 7 month sons...and much more.
I rented a property for 3yrs with MSR i didnt have no issues with maintence or nothing. I moved out of the property, cleaned it up reall good and everyeverything. I even returned the keys back the same day when i moved out. I asked about my deposit i didnt get back because by the time aomeone went and checked out the property a month later someone had briken in to it and trashed it. But that was not my fault. I would lease with MSR again you just have to take the good with the bad. They have nice homes.
Leasing experience was great, but the call center people were unhelpful and downright rude at times. Kevin, the technician, was the only redeeming point in the move in experience. Super nice dude, very helpful, friendly.
I dropped from 5 stars to 3, one star for each of the genuinely helpful people at MSRenewal. The first one is for superstar maintenance man Kevin! He really knows what he’s doing and you can tell he enjoys doing it. The second star is for Reñe, behind the scenes at the desk, but he’s just as diligent as you would be if you could do it yourself! He explains things so clearly that you’re not left wondering. (Others don’t tell you in detail, causing you to call back because things didn’t happen when they said). The last star is a potential, but working alongside Kevin, there’s no doubt he’ll also be great!
They partner with a 3rd party company where YOU PAY to tour THEIR rentals. Crazy. You won’t be able to reach anyone if you call their office. Check the other reviews of actual tenants.
This has been the worst experience I have ever had renting. When we initially moved in there was faulty electrical wiring, all of the water lines were busted, the ac has gone out and flooded our home multiple times, the water pipes in the laundry room burst and flooded the room and now this from the ac as well it appears. We called them multiple times and have never gotten a call back and now water is leaking to the floor and more and more is caving in at a time steadily. It is literaly crumbling around us (with a toddler in tow) and this is right outside of our bedroom door. Please beware and reconsider.
My favorite maintenance guy. I really prefer him to come do work orders and anyone else. He gets the job done everytime.
This company is horrible. The homes are infested with roaches. They put false charges on to your account. And even if you leave the place clean when you move out and nothing is broken or messed up they will still try to find a way to keep your security deposit. I will not recommend this company to anyone.
If I could give them a ZERO I would!! I just called to get information on 4 of the homes they have for rent and this lazy guy did not help me! At all!!! First of all he sounded so lazy to talk, and apparently he could only check 2 of the homes I was interested in. Like am I the only person who finds that odd. I would think that they would be interested on getting business done. Oh and then I had to wait 10 mins till they answered me. But whatever worst customer service!!!

I’ve tried to contact this company almost everyday since 04/05/21. They have an option for them to call us back without being on an excessive hold, no one ever called back! Since then I’ve been on an excessive hold for over 30 mins each time when the operator states queue wait time is about 10 minutes. I would really appreciate it if someone called me ASAP! This is unacceptable!
20014 Beechview is infested with roaches and dishwasher leaks water into the livingroom. I cant get ahold of anyone. Did not find out the place was infested with roaches until we did the final paper work. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! My son has autism and sensory issues and hes freaking out and theyre saying that we have to stay here because we signed a lease I have documentation to prove my sons condition!
This has been a non stressful experience. The staff assisted me in every way didnt just throw me away like other property management companies. They actually worked with me and I very much appreciate that.

Hands down they are phenomenal and set their standards above the rest! Their properties are top of the line, their Maintenence team is super awesome! Yanidd and Amanda are very helpful. The only concern I have with this company is that they take so long to process everything; even the smallest steps are stretched into 2-3 days of waiting, calling, and wondering. Other than that, they have plenty of homes to select from and will work with your situation.
By far the most terrible people I’ve ever dealt with both of my toilets in my home aren’t working plus the sewer is coming up in both of my showers so me and my children have to use the bathroom without flushing and can’t shower and maintenance hasn’t came in 3 days they always tag on fake violations on my rent portal I hope this company gets shut down also wont provide a number for corporate or anything they are complete scammers

Bad management company. My ac has been out for more than 3 weeks now. Texas weather is above 100s right now. This is ridiculous. My whole house is hot
1 star is generous. Tried for 5+ days to just get a human on the phone and could not. Sent multiple emails, and only received pre-written emails in return, leading me to believe the agent is not even reading them.
